- It's always unfortunate when you have such high expectations for a ride and it fails to live up to the hype. Some of these rides aren't bad at all- and are in fact, quite good- but if all you hear are good things about it, it can be discouraging when its not that perfect experience you imagined. These are 15 of the most overrated roller coasters we've ridden!

One thing I’ve learned in this community …we will never all have the same opinions. That’s what makes it fun
this community will never ever get along
@@NickyD it is what it is. We all love coasters, that’s what matters
@Steven Hall What are some of your unpopular opinions? What are some overated rides to you?
@@maxhagenauer24 Well let’s see…Number one overall is Skyrush and most overrated is Steel Vengeance. Imo
@@steveo7771286 haha just proves your original comment. Vengeance is my number one and Skyrush is my second most overrated. Everyone has their preferences 👍
I love how most of Sarah’s list is entirely Taylor’s fault.

Lmaoo true. I love that they're going around the world and getting her creds so they can debate on a level playing field though
Last time I was at Magic Mountain, it was during a brutal heat wave. It hit 111° at the park, no joke. Because of that, Twisted Colossus was running WAY too fast. It was the first time a ride has violently bruised my thighs because of how violent the airtime was. I’m going back this summer when it hits 100°+ to relive the magic (pain).
Nope! you guys lost me as millennium force lol

Orion gets hated on so much that I’d argue it’s actually underrated.
Yeah Orion is in that exact situation. No one really talks about it much now so it's kinda become underrated
I think it's because it's because it's less Fury 325 and Leviathan and more Diamondback (from what I've heard).
Because everyone confuses “overrated” with “terrible,” and no one knows how to properly explain when they’re not the same. CS does a nice job of that.
@@Xolivas1 Having ridden both many, many times over the years, I can tell you definitively that they are extremely different. Diamondback is a classic B&M Hyper: a series of parabolic airtime hills, a hammerhead turnaround, midcourse break run, a mini-helix, and a splashdown. Orion’s first drop is way steeper (and 85 feet taller, which you absolutely feel), has one traditional airtime hill, a much faster speed hill, a totally unique helix, and then its other elements all feel very different.
Ya it’s definitely underrated, everyone hates it. It’s not the best giga, but it is indeed a giga and is super fun. Everyone treats it as some sort of kiddy coaster that doesn’t do anything
Furius Baco is a strange choice as that’s 90% hated. Sarah just happened to be next to two fans before riding.
yea
So Baco is really rough but if you like intensity it is among Intamins best. The way it carries its speed is insane.
@@stearrow_3245 the launch makes more than up for the launcheslike ive ridden rides like dragon khan black mamba and several fair thrill rides but furius is so fuckin intense
Yeah, I've not heard too many people praising Baco. I did have an outside seat, but it was painful enough that I didn't want to risk it again trying to get an inside one for comparison.
I agree with you. Most don't like it from what I've heard. It is a acquired taste that only a select group really like.
Would love to see the underrated list video!
this turned into a fun dinner conversation, thanks lol! maybe 👀
I would love that video
This would be amazing
And i want to see Abyssu on that list.....
@@CoasterStudiosWe tend to be kinda negative and nitpicky in this community so I think a vid focusing on underrated coasters would be great!
I was there a few days after Millenium Force opened in 2000. Basically everyone in the park was in a 3.5 hour line for Millie, and it kept breaking down. While most of my group was disappointed, my cousin and I did so many laps on Magnum and Raptor that day that we could hardly walk to the car😂
So the thing with Millennium Force is I think it depends on what you look for in a coaster. I rode it the year it opened it was like nothing I had experienced before. Then rode it again this year and while still fun I can name a bunch of coasters I prefer.
But here’s where it’s interesting. This year my 16 yr old daughter rode it for the first time and it’s now her favorite coaster. She couldn’t get enough of the pure speed. So while my favorite coaster at Cedar Point is Maverick because I love G forces and whippy rides, hers was Millie just due to the sheer force of it.
All about what you look for in a ride.
This. Not everyone wants to be whipped about with high G forces, some people do actually like the speed and floaty moments, smooth transitions etc. It's all personal preference which is cool
The fact that they mentioned Force first tells me that they admit it is still the measuring stick out there for high speed coasters.
I feel like Taylor just put their relationship on their line for this video 🤣
My wife and I got off ArieForce and said “that ending hurts more than Magnum.”
It was our FIRST THOUGHT after we experienced it.
"This was fantastic when it first opened"
No, bro. Millennium Force is STILL in my Top 3, and I just now rode my 100th coaster (and all the other Gigas, minus Leviathan). Front row on that thing literally feels like you're flying, and there's nothing else in the world like it. I love it so much, haha.
It‘s my #1 and I have ridden over 500 coasters ❤
@@smuella Ahh, AWESOME!! I cycle between Millennium, Steel Vengeance, and Iron Gwazi as my favorite ever, and it all depends on the more recent one I've ridden!
Its the perfect blend of extreme and fun, making it re-ridable. Compared to others of the type, its held up the best.
It’s my number 8 and I’ve rode 50
I haven’t ridden it but it looks fairly rated tbh. Definitely looks top 3 at cedar point which is what most people rate it as
ORION. IS. A. GIGA.
it’s 287 feet tall, but has a 300 foot drop. cedar fair defines a giga coaster as any coaster with a height OR drop of 300-399 feet.
Agree to disagree
top 10 worst betrayals in history
Surprised to see Orion here. It seemed to always be in Fury's shadow and everyone cried about it not having a 300 foot lift.
You're right. Millie is still one of my absolute favorite coasters, and I will never understand the hate. The view from the top hill is spectacular, the first drop is iconic, it holds its speed throughout, and its smoothness makes it easy to marathon.
Agreed 100%. Any Intamin hyper/giga will always beat any B&M coaster of any time.
B&M's are just a credit and a headache. Intamin's are actually thrilling.
Lack of wild ejector essently
It’s way to twister based as opposed to airtime. This being said other gigas don’t have great that either. Tbh they all overrated
I just posted something similar about Nitro. Millennium Force served it's purpose at it's time. It has been overtaken by faster and furiouser rides like Fury325 and Intimidator305. It's not the rides fault that it was built to give a specific experience. In a climate where we want the tallest, fastest, scariest, rides......we have to remember the value of the rides that came before those and enjoy them for what they are. Great view. Memorable experience getting splattered with bugs.
@@rockyjack5811 If ejector is what makes a ride the Phoenix would be #1. I was sitting on my hat and it still escaped and I am 240 pounds. Lol.
I’m definitely gonna get hate for this, but the first coaster that came to mind of overrated that I have ridden is expedition Everest. Yes, the technical achievements of the ride are immaculate, but remove that and all you have left is a pretty straightforward family coaster
💯 feel the same. It did nothing for me.
I think at this point we have to come to terms with the fact that you are really in the minority with your take on Zadra.. As your comparison with Gwazi showed, Im convinced that more people like Zadra over Gwazi and that result would even become more clear the more people you ask. Same goes for the overall coaster youtubers who rode both, specially the ones with high counts. And since the middle of last month I can testify this for myself. Went to Energylandia with the only other elite ride I ever rode prior being Geforce and at first I was kinda underwhelmed as well because it hadnt warmed up yet. Hyperion was indeed good but even there its still a tough match between Geforce and Hyperion because the drop and the first hills are just so insane on Geforce.. overall Hyperion took the edge tho because the drop is also nasty plus the speed height and mix of elements just make it more enjoyable overall. Compared to Zadra tho? Not warmed up, 100% Hyperion. Warmed up? No chance. Its just a night and day difference. Warmed up every element of Zadras masterful Layout was taken at geforce level. Its just insane. The airtime may not be as abrupt as on other coasters? But I dont have the slightest of problems with that. It may pull 0.2 gs less than geforce on paper? Idk? But I wasnt missing anything while riding. And we didnt even ride at the very evening. Just pure ecstasy start to finish. Dont know what the deal is with you guys loooool but yeah. The more I browse the cosster community the more I realize that your take on Zadra is actually very lone. Guess I will have to come to terms that our coaster taste differs.. shame it had to be you tho..
Also I have my troubles with the meaning of floater and ejector airtime. Im only getting back into coasters (for the first time „seriously“ lol) and I still dont have an exact definition. I always thought everything up to minus 1 or someting was floater and everything above ejector but reading more into it I feel like its just the speed at which it reaches those forces(?) if thats the case I rarely have a preference (or may even lean towards floater) between the two. As long as the end forces pulled are the same? Could t care less allthough I like the feeling of being gradually pulled out of your seat also a lot. And Zadra has some niiiice moments of that.
I have ridden both, Zadra and Igwazi and I gotta sey that Zadra is a clear winner, and why? The pacing is better it haves better presentation, operations and haves more and better near misses, and the thing that decided it was finale. Look at Igwazi finale, well you have the worst stall I have ever experienced, and some airtime hills, well it's nice, but compared to Zadra the finale on Igwazi is just mid
@@extrakubik4123 the finale on zadra is just crazy. That transition before the last inversion is VIOLENT
@@extrakubik4123 I have both Iron Gwazi and Zadra in my top 3, but Iron Gwazi is the clear winner for me based on coaster alone. Throw in presentation and operations then Zadra maybe. I'd say Iron Gwazi has better pacing though. The layout is near perfect for me.

This video sums up the coaster community so well. Everyone wants to rank coasters and have opinions and get super pissed off when people don't agree with them. This video is a certified thoosie moment.
I think Jersey Devil is underrated. I feel like people love to hate on it but it's a solid experience that pumps through riders quickly! And, at least so far, it's been reliable.
As a tall person I find it very painful and uncomfortable. My feet are also large so my feet can’t even sit flat in the trains 😂
@@michaelcampos2329 I’m 5/8 or 5/9 and it doesn’t really bother me
I rode Phoenix with zero expectations and I absolutely loved it lol. The air time on the day I rode it was outrageous.
Phoenix airtime is scary in the first car. The only ride I get standing airtime on.
Zadra is my favourite coaster in Europe by far. But Zadra really needs to be warmed up. It's like a difference between day and night. Hyperion is also very good but the fact that the outer seats are so shaky grades the ride down for me. And I actually think you are overhyping Wildfire. I love that ride too but the 2nd half is just too slow with dead spots. Great video overall!
me staring at the Orion poster in my room while Sarah compares it to a ride that’s like twice as long 👁️👁️
nah but fr I think I appreciated that ride way more than most people bc we have nothing like it in socal. Id kill for a ride like Orion at Magic Mt or Knotts
thank you for not putting pantheon on the list tho LMAOO
To me Hagrids is 100% the most overrated ride and the people who say “Hagrids is the best rollercoaster of all time” must literally just be true to heart potterheads cuz in my opinion Velocicoaster right down the bridge in the same park STOMPS over Hagrids
Fr fr
You seriously crack me up waiting until the end to bring up Nitro under the disguise of Banshee! That made me laugh out loud and I am by myself. Great video!
As an older enthusiast, it’s amazing to me how our desires for coasters change over time. When I was younger, a coaster from RMC would have been at the top of my list. However, it is really disorienting to me at this point in my life and I much more prefer coasters like Millennium Force and Orion. It is really a preference thing. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. I loved it!
My dad is the same way, even when I was younger. Hell, his favorite roller coaster is still Superman: Ride of Steel at Six Flags Darien Lake lol. He just loves the giant floater hills and fast helixes that don't have huge forces.
I wish there were more wild wooden coasters like the Beast, or the old Big Dipper and Villain were at Geauga Lake.
I love how broad the coaster community is! Like there are people from all ages from all across the world!
I love forces, but most RMCs while being good, have way to much happening at once for me to even know what’s going on to enjoy it. I absolutely hated WW at SFFT for that reason.
Hey, everybody's entitled to their opinions!
But when it comes to X2, yeah. You're wrong 😛
Personally I love Phoenix definitely not Eltoro , Voyage, or Mystic Timbers level. But those buzz bars are really something else, out of your seat air time almost the whole ride. I remember my thighs slamming into the bars on some hills. Maybe I just got great rides on my visit, but overall Phoenix is just such a fun ride.
100%
I rode Phoenix four times in one visit last year and consistently got the craziest standing airtime of my life, can't begin to understand why anyone would think it's mild or lacking in that department
its nothing speical once you been on a few rmc's and toro
@Nicky D A traditional Wooden coaster even in the same ballpark as computer engineered marvels is indeed special.
@@NickyD I've ridden a bunch of RMCs and only Lightning Rod is about as fun for me as Phoenix, and none of them offer nearly the same amount of room in the seats
Danny! I agree. Last summer Phoenix had so much airtime it felt dangerous. I have never experienced anything like it.
My experience is that the people who highly rate Phoenix are younger folks who haven't ridden a lot of rides with buzz bars (they used to be a lot more common). If you're not used to buzz bar airtime, I could see being shocked by Phoenix; if that's nothing new to you, Phoenix is good but nothing special.
My Underrated list would include Banshee and The Beast, as those two rides get so much undeserved hate and shade thrown at them for some reason. I would also say Storm Chaser is underrated as it's been fashionable for people to call it a bottom tier RMC as of late, when IMO it's still top tier.
If you built The Beast in 2023 every roller coaster fan would mock it for doing nothing. Lots of long straight sections, a giant DOUBLE helix in an era when helixes are laughed at.
But in context this was a coaster built basically by hand in the back woods of Ohio by the park itself, not by some outside company. In context the Beast is a massive achievement. Compared to a new premier coaster it sucks.
@@williamryan6794 I agree with the straight track sections but the helix is an amazing finale and the tunnel makes it seem even more intense with that roar. I think it is helped by its location. I love the coaster but if it wasn’t going through the woods secluded from the park it would be a lot more meh. The one major plus it has going despite the straight sections is that it constantly builds speed until the second lift hill.
@@williamryan6794 Night rides on this makes it amazing.
I think Fahrenheit at Hershey park is underrated I don’t hear anyone ever talking about it,it’s a really good ride
*Raven at Holiday World.*
Some people hype it up as the 2nd best coaster in the park, but it's basically a family coaster. It's painfully short, and the first half does absolutely nothing until the lake turn. Yes, the 1500ft of track good track don't put this coaster in the same solar system as Voyage, Thunderbird, and Legend.
Fully expected Sarah to say Magnum after "sorry Ohio."
I actually agree with Millennium Force being underrated! I’ve ridden it twice and it just doesn’t top a lot of others at cedar point especially for the long wait time, but MAGNUM? THAT WAS SO UNCALLED FOR! Magnum Xl200 has so much character to it, and the theme to it is just so cool. The back row on that thing gives major air time and headaches. Such a thrilling ride
Kinda agree! Magnum is like the beast of cp. it’s quirky and kinda painful. But unlike the beast it’s usually a walk on and has airtime
@@TanookiOshawott64 Yeah opening day, Magnums wait was like Max 30 mins
I think I have a somewhat unpopular list of overrated coasters. These are usually because my expectations were set at a certain point, and it just didn’t deliver what I had hoped for
Mystic Timbers: tame and weaker airtime
Kumba: shaky
Renegade: rough
X2: not as intense as I hoped (still intense though)
Any dive coaster
You and I agree on X2, Mystic and Kumba being overrated
Nitro is the greatest leave it alone Taylor.😢
Fr, drop is crazy, the turnaround is better because of the weird profiling and after the turnaround it’s so 👌
When you mentioned Superman at SFNE, I got sad lol. What was once my #1 roller coaster has fallen down my list simply because of the restraint changes. Riding that thing pre-2004 with the old T-Bar that Intamin used, it was absolutely one of the best roller coasters on the planet.
Amazing with original form
Most of these I haven’t ridden, but here’s my opinion on the ones I’ve done:
1. Storm Chaser (I know this wasn’t officially on the list but it’s my favorite RMC out of the four I’ve done)
2. Orion and Millie - the only two giga’s I’ve ridden and I think they are amazing rides, but fury definitely looks better
3. Thunderbird - yes I am one of those people who thinks this is the best in the park, I’m not the biggest fan of woodies in general (The Beast is a weird exception i got a crazy ride on that) and that last inversion on tbird is just fantastic
4. Magnum - now I wouldn’t call this one of my absolute favorites, but that airtime is so powerful and it was a lot smoother than i was expecting (tbh I was expecting to hate it because of what y’all and others say about it but i kinda enjoyed it)
Can’t wait for the underrated list!
Taylor is 30? Also what’s up with giving wing coasters a bad reputation it just seems weird to me. But I still love your videos
Okay I agree with y’all on Magnum! I love the ride just because it’s a classic arrow coaster. But I’m dying for chance rides to retrack that ride with the same track they use on the hyper GTX model. So can we make that happen! It’s such a classic ride that I can see them doing whatever it takes to keep it and I think If Chance rides would retrack and reprofile certain areas it could be one of the best hyper coasters
Mega XL-197..
I understand if you don't like X2, but I wouldn't say it has a cult following by any means. It's just not for everyone. The term "cult following" indicates a somewhat irrational love for it (whether due to nostalgia or whatever). But in truth, some people simply don't like X2's insanity and others do.
X2 is a tricky one. It's certainly not the most fun ride, but it's an experience unlike almost any other coaster. It genuinely scared me, and that pretty much never happens on a roller coaster. You can't come off it and think "that was OK I suppose", so I wouldn't call it overhyped.
X2 can hurt me any time it wants.
It's honestly not as bad as some people make it out to be. Yes, your legs will bounce against the seat, but only right at the very end. I just wish S&S can reprofile that last raven turn to make it less painful.
@@hellacia8151 Back row/outside seat is amazing to me. I wish that they'd rework the track to just beat out Eejanaika for height, duration, etc. and yeah, rework that raven turn.
I love X2!

I rode Millenium Force when it first came out and I maintain the same opinion today. Greatest first drop, and then after that...pfft. It flattens out. It's essentially a fast ride through the park. But NO WAY is NITRO is overhyped. If anything it's underrated! Great drop, great airtime. Just enough G force. Smooth and surprising. A thoroughly enjoyable, perfect ride.
I rode Zadra over the same two days you guys did - it wasn’t riding slow. You caught it in good form.
I disagree with Zadra too, but seeing DC Rivals on the list is something I've been familiar with for a few years now.
@@Marty_NZ My expectation for DC Rivals would be similar to Expedition GeForce. Both look to have great first drops, a few dead spots, and some really good other moments. I don't think either should be Top 10 but I could see them being Top 20.
Where do you have Zadra in the RMC pecking order? Pacing looks really good!
@@Marty_NZ I wasn’t disagreeing with Taylor’s pick of Zadra. I was just responding to his mention that someone told him he might have ridden it when it was slow. I don’t think so.
That said, Zadra would definitely not make my overrated list, but then again, unlike Taylor and most enthusiasts, I don’t have RMCs right at the top of my absolute favorites. I mean, I think RMCs are amazing and I have never ridden one that wasn’t great, but they’re just not the pinnacle of enjoyment for me.
@@StamfordBridge the fact you weren't blown away by it either tells me perhaps it wasn't in its best form on those days? It could be another situation like me and Lightning Rod, perhaps just caught it on off days? Either way, it's one coaster on this list I highly disagree with. I love my RMCs, but that doesn't mean I don't have more fun on other "less good" coasters. I'd argue the most fun I've had on a coaster is Leviathan at Seaworld, and i'd probably rank most RMCs above it.
I think swing launches overrated and I really don't see in any way how Top Thrill Dragster with a swing launch will be better than the original or best in the world (some ppl are actually saying). I don't care about rollbacks, tallest coaster (the train won't even go all the way up the spike), a longer ride, or more elements (ride something else if you want these last two), I don't think that's worth slowing down and the great intense launch that TTD was known for. Swing launches kind of feel like valleying in reverse and they feel weak compared to one intense launch and there's plenty swing launches around anyway so they're really not a 'unique experience'. I find having no launch more exciting like going up a lift hill and down and drop at least you get to the top speed in one shot. I guess Cedar Point will be home to the two most overrated coasters on earth: TTD with a swing launch and Millennium Force.

*_Were back to Ohio_*
Here we go again with the irrational hate for TC....dueling does so little in terms of enhancing the ride experience
It doesn’t need to duel to be elite, and I wish more people felt the same way
I went on Phoenix just expecting a standard coaster - saw those buzz bars and thought 'hang on just a second'... it was awesome! That feeling of not being strapped in at all and experiencing that airtime was amazing! With normal PTC train restraints yeah, wouldn't be much to it really - but the buzz bars make it. It's in my top 20 (approaching 250 coasters this year), but obv Beast / El Toro is above that... and incomparable with Voyage!!
Comet at Hershey Park is a bit close to Phoenix if you loosen the seat belt going up the lift hill. But Phoenix is just in its own realm.
@@SupermarketSweep777 never knew the 'airtime buffet' was just completely leaving the Earth on each hill hahaha
@@robhaley5136 I can't think of another ride where your ass is out of the seat more than it is in it.
Iron Gwazi is the most overhyped right now, it’s a lower tier RMC for sure
So glad to see the Nitro call out. Of the 8 B&M Hypers in the US, Nitro is the worst or among the bottom 3 at best. I agree with a lot of what you said, Superman at SFNE is overrated to me as well as is Millennium Force. Both were great when they came out but coasters layouts have gotten better and better. These are just not elite. Magnum shouldn't be the top at Cedar Point, but I don't think it is overrated as a whole. The drop is the weakest part for sure. Thunderbird was a strange choice. Really good wing coaster. Never heard anyone saying it was better than Voyage, but to put it in the discussion with the other 2 is completely valid.
DC Rivals is not even the best roller coaster at Movie World IMO. Superman and and Scooby Doo (at least before the refurb) both dial up the fun factor with good theming whilst still being great coasters.
I enjoy Rivals, but when I’m at Movie World with no queue, I always find myself marathoning Superman instead.
As someone who grew up going to Knoebels, Phoenix is totally overhyped but there's just something awesome about it! It was my first coaster and a lot of my friends and family's too, I think we all love it because there's not a whole lot else in that area. It's something everyone can ride and we have so memories surrounding the coaster!
Don’t let Taylor ruin Superman for you. The restraints aren’t that bad, could be better ( they were) but not bad enough to ruin ride.
I love Millenium Force. Its like taking a Sunday drive with an old friend going over 90 mph. I love going up the lift hill when it jerks backwards with someone who doesn't know its does that is priceless. My friend who is afraid of heights kept thinking he was going to die. Note don't take marinol before you go on it😂
I don't understand them thinking Orion is overrated. It's never really gotten much love since it opened.
My overrated coaster is actually a whole class of coasters: all of the RMC Raptor tracks. They’re low capacity rides with complicated moving queues that teenage Six Flags workers don’t want to manage which only reduces capacity even more, generally short length rides with tracks developing problems fairly quickly due to the forces on them (see how rough Wonder Woman Golden Lasso has gotten). I was absolutely stunned when Iron Rattler in particular got ranked lower than any of the raptor tracks in the RMC video, so maybe it’s a combination of me thinking Taylor has underrated I-Rat with my strong feelings about this ride type
No doubt that Taylor extremely underrated Iron Rattler, as many are doing these days. That happens to a lot of great rides over time, as enthusiasts get tired of the older models. I have thought since 2018 that the RMC raptors are very overrated. Wonder Woman rode rough for me in that first year. The restraints & sitting position take so much away from the enjoyment of the elements for me. I think they are decent supporting coasters, but nowhere near as good as others say they are. Jersey Devil isn't even top 5 in the park for me, and SFFT Wonder Woman is on the verge of dropping down to # 4 there, as I debate putting Cliffhanger ahead of it.
No idea what was up with WW FOC's rattle. THAT'S A 1 YEAR OLD RIDE!!! The seatbelts on that one though are retractable, so they will give over the powerful ejector moments.
Noooo don't tell me that. I LOVE Jersey devil but it's still new...I don't want it to get bad 😭😭😭
I have riden WWFOC and railblazer and in terms of rattle railblazer runs smoother then FOC
As a person who worked as a ride op at Kings Island the 1st 3 seasons it was open every employee agreed it was overhyped and a disappointment
I agree. Rode Magnum on three visits over the last 10 years, and it gets more painful each time I rode it. Time for a new ride in that spot.
For me diamondback has always been one of the most overrated coasters I’ve been on. People always say it’s the best hyper and the airtime is so strong but it never did it for me and I’ve rode it on multiple days in multiple seats too
Hot take: Twisted Colossus is the most overrated RMC
Shut up
I think it’s the most underrated
Millennium being overrated is a bad take. In 2023 sure; I get that take. But full lifetime overrated. No way.
Mag / Mille / Top Thrill could all be overrated based on your “record breaking breakthrough” coasters. Magnum height; Millennium speed and drop. Top Thrill acceleration height.
The lift hill on day one in millennium still boggles my mind. Strap into the 💺 seat; you can’t see a thing except the sounds of the theme music and neon and HYYYYYPE.
Low key Orion is a great take. 🤝
Millennium force is so overrated amongst the community that it’s underrated. The first drop is amazing, first turnaround makes me gray out, has solid floater hills, and immaculate pacing. Plus you’re on the side of a lake. Besides the straight track before the last turnaround, what more could you ask for?
I have to disagree with twisted at SFMM being overrated. It’s layout is one the best ride layouts ever with so much airtime and intensity I didn’t really care we weren’t dueling
Oh yeah the best ride layouts ever with a long, pace-killing lift hill in the middle of the ride lol
I personally like both Millennium Force and Magnum XL because of their history. Even though time and technology have moved forward, the fact they are still there to ride after all these years, and you can marvel at the barriers they broke while getting a window into what it was like when roller coasting passed these particular milestones elevates the experience. If the exact same structures were built today, they wouldn't have the same vibe. I realize not everybody will care about this, but if you do, it's easy to understand why many people give them extra points.
I 100% agree with your statement. I feel with both of them being young that they didn't get to truly experience the nostalgia of both coasters being the first of its kind at the time. Sarah even said Taylor was 3 when Millennium Force opened in 2000. I was 11 and rode it for the first time in 2005 when I was 16 & my first Cedar Point trip (been there 5 times now). It was for most of us our first giga coaster and will always hold a nostalgic place in our hearts regardless of its age and newer coasters out. I've been on four giga coasters and only have Millennium behind Fury 325 as my favorite of its type. Orion is overrated & Intimidator 305 at Kings Dominion is more focused on fast turns and lateral G forces than big airtime hills.
THANK YOU FOR SAYING NITRO IS OVERRATED!!! People at great adventure r blinded by park bias and think nitro is next level when it’s soooo mid!!
Knew you'd call out Millennium Force right out the gate, and Sarah sighing "Magnum" from her sweater is so relatable. (Also, Taylor and Sarah saying *"CULT FOLLOWING!"* together just might have made my month). Wild that Magnum's 34th anniversary was last Saturday and Millennium Force(less)'s 23rd is tomorrow. Some of us really are feeling a bit old.
I hate magnum!!! Only went on it once but maybe I should've actually gone on it again LOL... maybe I just didn't give it another chance.
I don’t care what anyone says I LOVE ride of steel, it rivals mako.
Didnt you put Iron Gwazi as your number 1 RMC? Thats not exactly a "longer experience"
It feels a lot shorter
It's not the length, it's what you do with it 😏
A lot of people will probably disagree with me on this one so hear me out here... Skyrush. I will say it is definitely the most intense coaster at Hersheypark, and it has the best first drop in the park, even including Wildcat's Revenge. But the restraints made it more painful than I would have liked. Especially in the second half. Also, it was a bit shaky at places. It wasn't huge, but it was noticeable. It's still a really good 8/8.5 out of 10 ride, and I completely understand why people love it so much, but personally, I preferred Wildcat's Revenge, and even Candymonium more.
Edit: I rode it again, and it got a bit better. Probably 9/10. Can't pick between it or Candymonium still. Wildcat's Revenge it still #1 though.
The restraints on SkyRush are a B I agree with that wholeheartedly as well as I wished SkyRush was a little longer, but the intensity and forceful airtime moments make up for it. I got Wildcat's Revenge #1, SkyRush #2, Candymonium #3, Lightning Racer #4, & Fahrenheit #5.
I haven’t watched this channel in forever. And the jump in quality is very impressive. Will definitely begin watching more again!!
Igwazi is the most overrated ride I've ever ridden, not even the best coaster in Florida
I've ridden it one time early on it's debuting day. It didn't deliver like I hope, although it's wasn't fully warmed up. Imma have to ride it a few more times later on in the day, before coming to a conclusion. Contrastingly, an early start Arie Fore One absolutely blew me away
@@overbanked I've ridden it warmed up, i had a evening rides on it and it was 28° outside during the day, it still left me underwhelmed especially because of the finale and the stall
You describing Magnum was like me describing Lightning Rod. The last few hills were great, but the rest of the ride just didn't have much to offer.
@PS yeah but that opinion is from 2019
I feel the exact same way. Lightning Rod is fun, but besides the launch and the last few hills, the ride is just average.
@@3godzilla3 Yeah. Honestly even most of the quad down wasn't doing it for me, so I'm of the opinion only the last 3 airtime moments (and the launch) were actually good (when I rode it in 2019).
She was so caught off by Nitro! My unpopular opinion is Mystic Timbers! It’s just a family coaster to me!
No, no, not Phoenix. Not in your top 100? That is crazy. You have not caught a proper ride. Front row on a hot day - a worldwide top five.
I’ve ridden it in the front on a hot day! I’ve been to Knoebels multiple times, I just don’t get the hype! -Taylor
Dude it’s okay someone doesn’t have the same opinion as you
@@CoasterStudios Perhaps some hidden trauma in your childhood then keeping you from experiencing the awesomeness?
@@jacksonrogers6751 Take it easy. He invited us to respond if we disagree.
@@StamfordBridgePeople have different preferences when it comes to roller coasters, you’re not going to change his opinion. Besides, Taylor’s disappointment shouldn’t change anything about your enjoyment of the ride.
Here is one=saw the ride at Thorpe park, that coaster is so rough after the mid course, the dive loop violently pushes your head to the restraint, the airtime hill is not that good, the wippyness makes it even worse and… it’s not as good as the smiler😂
I rode Helix last year and it is still one of my favourites coasters! The launches are ok-ish, but the use of the terrain is so much fun! And yes, Magnum was so rough I just can't understand all the hype.
I think the only thing I disagree with here is Twisted Colossus. I can't get over how high quality and memorable each individual element is. Everything hits hard and hits well and it does not have to duel to be my favorite RMC. It has one of the best RMC drops out there, and everything is taken at amazing pacing. I understand that the rarity of dueling can be disappointing to some people, though since Magic Mountain is my home park I have ridden Twisted Colossus probably hundreds of times since it opened and I have gotten many duels over the years. To some they may not enjoy the ride so much but to me it is still my number 1 coaster since 2015.
(*Gasp!*) Nitro is a MASTERPIECE! How dare you!
(I'm joking... I actually think NItro is just mid...)
Two overhyped coasters in Germany are the two big rivaling launch coasters, Blue Fire and Taron! They are both cool rides, but in the beginning both were so overhyped! Meanwhile the hype went to the right level, but you still got some thosies hyping them all over the internet and so. 😅

Nitro was my first hyper ever and since its my home park, its just the standard I set for hypers (especially B&M) because I've ridden it the most. To this day its still up there on my list and if I were to every say there was an overrated B&M hyper, its Candymonium. I rarely feel the airtime compared to that of Nitro or any of the forces you feel on the helix. The Kiss turnaround is a nice touch but the HARD trim right before it absolutely kills it for me.
I have only seen candymonium get hate idk what you say it’s overrated
I agree with you about Candymonium & Hersheypark is my hometown park as I'm less than 20 minutes away. It's fun, but definitely overwhelming & falls very short on what I look for in hyper coasters - length and consistent airtime. Nitro blows Candymonium away by far and it's almost 20 years older.
Haha, will have to agree with Sarah on Nitro. Overall, it receives a lot of hate mixed in with the occasional “mid tier hyper” comment 😂. So I honestly think it’s underrated (in the community) even though it can be top 3 at SFGAD
Nitro has some really long lasting airtime, it’s freakishly smooth, and the helix is really intense. I don’t get the hate either
I think you guys forget how fortunate you are to be able to ride all these coasters and have so many credits. Why are some of these over hyped? Some of these are the only coasters some people ride in their life or even on a semi regular basis
Idk, I went on Superman in SFNE, over 12 yrs ago and rode it yesterday and it still holds up.
Nitro definitely falls into this category. It's a solid ride and in the top 3 in the park. As far as a hyper goes? There's definitely better ones out there. I think Nitros charm is in its length. It's a long ride when we are so used to fast and furious rides now. I think people don't give it credit where's it's due and call it overrated. I think in the current coaster climate it serves a different purpose now. It's actually my cool off and relax ride now. Pretty smooth and a long enjoyable ride.
Fly in Phantasialand, the Theming is top notch, don't get me wrong there. That is surely top of the world lvl. But the ride itself? I feel the restraints aren't always as comfortable. The first time I rode it I was more focused on how much the harnas was hurting than the actual ride. Found that to be a very sad conclusion after the major hype it got. I personally prefer Black Mamba or Taron over FLY
Wholeheartedly agree with Nitro. I rode it so many times last summer and just got nothing out of it. I got stronger airtime on Runaway MineTrain.
I just did a spittake 😂😂 great adventure is my homepark tho so i agree that last hill on minetrain thinks its part of toro😂😂 rode nitro during holiday in the park got ejector airtime best ride ever on nitro
Consider this:
I don’t think twisted colossus is a sub-par layout at all. It’s definitely not as good without the duel. But maybe that’s just because it’s disappointing to expect a duel and not get one.
It wasn’t overhyped the first 3-4 years it opened. It was shiny white green and blue sparkling at the front of the park and you go to watch it duel. Blue side has awesome airtime and green side has great off axis moments and the best inversion.
But then operations got lazy and with Untamed, Wildfire, SteVe, Iron Gwazi, and Zadra we learned to expect more out of RMCs.
So I think it was the best they could have done at the time and the hype has appropriately died down
Twisted Colossus being on this list is 100% the fault of operations at SFMM (which isn't really surprising with Six Flags these days...)
I watched your videos of your two most recent visits to SFMM and the main reason you didn't get a dueling ride is because the management doesn't even care to try and make it happen. I went around the same time as you all and was super lucky to get two duels back to back, which made the experience soooo fun. Otherwise it's just a mid-tier RMC.
It's honestly so sad how little Six Flags cares about the guest experience.
Speaking of, would love to get an unfiltered opinion piece from you both about your thoughts on the state of Six Flags parks in 2023.
@a.s.2597 SFMM is my home park and I talk with some of the maintenance workers there and the reason why they don’t duel is cause the 3rd train is broken and stoping the lift hill would cause the whole ride to fault. And not to bring up larger guests and slow operations hurt them too.
Twisted colossus is not overhyped if you get a dueling summer night ride. Then again the chances of that happening are slim.
My personal over hyped ride is i305. I still enjoy it and rode it 5 times just a week or so ago but I like twisted timbers at KD way more.
that was my exact thoughts, it left me very dissapointed, while twisted timbers completely shocked me
Twisted Timbers is top 5 man, so much freaking fun
@@3godzilla3 yeah, its my top 2 behind fury 325
100% agree. I have it as the worst giga coaster I've been on behind Fury 325, Millennium Force & Orion. I'm more airtime hills and length than low ground turns and lateral Gs. They're fun and I'll say it's the most intense giga coaster I've ever ridden, but it pales. I don't know when I'll go back to Kings Dominion which is sad considering most consider this the best coaster at the park. I like Twisted Timbers more too.
Hot take: Velocicoaster is a little bit overrated. The ride is great but I wish it felt more out of control.
Before I rode it, I figured it was overhyped. When I actually rode it it was better than I expected it to be. Actually kinda enjoyed more and more.
Orion isn't overhyped, but yeah.. it definitely could've been better... not from stats but the layout. Still the 3rd best giga though.
I never thought I'd hear the day when anyone called Millennium Force "old school". Old school in my mind is pre-Tenessee Tornado Arrow, Schwarzkopf, pre-CCI/GCI woodies, etc. Once you go away from hand-drawn curves to computer designed stuff, you're already new school!
EDIT -- totally agreed on Phoenix. It's good, but not great, and not only is it not the #1 wooden coaster in the world, it's not even the #1 wooden coaster at Knoebels.
DOUBLE EDIT -- you're totally a heretic for having SFNE's Superman up there, though. That might be the best hypercoaster in the U.S.!
TRIPLE EDIT -- Boooo at Magnum being anywhere near here! That airtime!
QUADRUPLE EDIT -- The one that I'd call the most overrated that I think would get people yelling at me is Iron Rattler. It's the worst RMC in Texas, and it's not even the third best coaster at its park! It has two really good drops, but otherwise, it's a whole bunch of nothing.
If you would have ridden Olympia Looping at the Oktoberfest, I really think your opinion would have been different. Hot weather and the two added cars per train make all the difference. The "filler" stuff give some laterals and some nice positives in the valleys, while doing nothing at all when the weather is cold or the two cars like at the Prater were missing. EDIT: I have to add though, I have a tactic when it comes to the restrains so they're not uncormfortable at all, I just don't know how to explain it^^
Just going to say this, if you have to use a tactic to avoid getting beaten up by the restraints, the restraints aren't good.
@@VestedUTuber They aren't, there no denying that. Also I never said the restrains are good. But it makes ride mor comfortable and therefore it goes higher up on my personal list
I definitely agree with X2, I call it the Starbucks of roller coasters. People just think they are supposed to like it but they are both overrated
The fact that two of my all time favorite coasters are both on this list, yeah that definitely didn't break my heart at all
I disagree with the Ohio ones only because the Giga coasters I had really low expectations for them especially Orion but because I had low expectations they exceeded them. As for Magnum it is on my top 5 because when I went to Cedar Point the first day I was there I thought it was the worst ride in the park but I gave it a second chance the second day and it is now in my top five overall with Millie Maverick Steve and Lightning Rod.
Considering that X2 is the only 4th dimension coaster in the U.S. and 1 of 3 in the world, it's hard to say it's overhyped. It's rough, and it's the weakest of it's type, but the rarity of 4th dimension coasters makes it unique, not overhyped. Definitely not the best in the world, but a ride any enthusiast should try at least once
I agree wholeheartedly with Phoenix. I just don’t get the love for it. It’s a smooth classic, but people rave about the airtime and it’s just not great. Twisted Colossus is a top 10 ride for me even without dueling. It’s two RMC’s in one. Magnum is not a top ride anymore, but it’s by far the best of the Arrow/Morgan hyper coasters. I haven’t got on Zadra and don’t know when I will, but I’m fully prepared to agree with your take. It definitely doesn’t seem that great. The elements are larger and more drawn out. RMC is best when it’s quick and punchy.
Magnum has stiff competition from Phantom's Revenge for best Arrow/Morgan hyper.
@@cynicanal111 That’s fair. Forgot about that one. I always forget about it since it’s so different from the others.
Millennium Force may not be the best roller coaster in the world, but it's still top 10 for me. I'll never understand the hate for such an iconic and great ride.
Fun to see all the different opinions! Of all the ones on the list, Zadra really did hold up for me, it's easily one of my favs, but yeah Hyperion was actually awesome!
