My Focus RS Now Has a Mountune Exhaust System!

- I popped out to Mountune in my Ford Focus RS to install the axle-back exhaust system, and what a sound it makes! It was inevitable following the install of the FPM375 package, but now it is done.
Not intrusive in general driving but with truly hilarious backfire crackles on lift-off and revving, and most importantly without disturbing the warranty situation at all. From stock the mkIII Focus RS is already an awesome machine, but after completing the FPM375 upgrade and now the exhaust it's something else.
A huge thanks to Mountune for everything, this is amazing!

Shmee150 Why did you choose the Focus RS over other "hot hatches" like a Golf R?
I think you should change the wheels and lower the car a liittle bit, so it is still a daily driver.

Marius Andersson he's done it to a couple of his cars now it's not really a major change for most cars so it can easily be reverted back to stock or in this case is covered by warranty anyway

I thought I'd watch a couple of videos, then move on, but I've become a fan of Schme150 now, due to his enthusiasm, it is infectious.
the Mk2 focus rs that my dad had was awesome with the backfiring but the mk3 that you have shmee150 with the new exhaust sounds amazing!

Princess Peach yeah I noticed that... I assume it's so it fits snugly against something but it must restrict it!? Not sure why you'd have a larger diameter exhaust and then put a massive crimp in it though
watch engine masters about exhausts having dents, it BARELY effects performance, like 0.1bhp
One of my favourite UA-camr whose content is worth waiting for. Cheers for the great content shmee and the focus rs must be a hoot to drive now with these great mods from mountune. Looking forward to knowing your decision in regards to the Amg GTS or the worthy replacement for your upcoming touring events. what about some matte black stripes similar to what the fiesta st has? Maybe you could extend upon it with some more decals

I love what your doing with this car they really take to mods well.As for wrapping the car its already a beautiful blue just needs tinted windows but im sure youl get a nice wrap

Glad to see the RS getting some more attention! The mod bug is hard to shake! For next steps I'd suggest looking at some wheels (which would also make the summer/winter tire switchover easier as you could have a complete set for either season) and maybe a subtle front lip, to enhance the looks without sacrificing ground clearance at all. Small parts like shifter bushings can make a world of difference, and a shift knob/boot or other small parts could dress up the interior too.

I was surprised to see that the prop shaft wasn't covered separately from the exhaust heat and the environment hazards like dirt, water and stones. Other than that, a very nice and down to earth exhaust upgrade. This little Focus sounds 10x better than Pauls M3.
I really enjoy how you're working with tuning company's and you're not just featuring the high end cars. I'd love to see you feature more JDM and Muscle on the channel stuff. I know there's multiple tuning company's in the UK with crazy stuff like 1000BHP skylines/Evos along with some really cool classics. You also said you enjoyed drifting if you have time maybe attend some of the drift events in the uk. Also please please try do something with a guy called Mark Webb he's a drifter and bmx rider really nice guy with some really cool cars

Does sound pretty cool, what i wanna know is how Manufacturers are able to map the pops and bangs in without causing damage. We do them on the Mitsubishi Evos and they chew through exhaust gaskets and the turbo eventually

I had an old VW Beetle many years ago that crackled and popped like that, and then spit an exhaust tip down the road! It looks like yours is bolted on a lot more securely :)

Shmee150 the Focus RS is an excellent choice 😎. You should get the mounting front intercooler and down pipe upgrade in the near future.
Wrap it in matte black with metallic white, light grey, and charcoal colored stripes. I especially like the Wide tri-colored stripes that start at the lower front outer fender wheel well. Then they goes straight along the side of the body and just past the the 2nd backseat door, then the stripes curve up over the back fender and end just before they hit the taillights.
It just sounds like it's broken. It would drive me crazy having those pops and bangs!
Now I need one. You've convinced me.

I was watching your axle back exhaust install and I noticed on your intercooler you still have a factory sticker cover on your intercooler it's in the right-hand corner of your intercooler Peel it off and you will get better cooling in your turbo you're in a cooler is only getting three quarter airflow
for the tuning, slam it on the ground (gotta scrape thos leaves) put in some engine upgrades and maybe some new rims

Rally style mud flaps would look great - the Rally Armor ones are good. Mountune have just started selling these flaps re-branded with their logo

Mudflaps, front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser
Lower it shmee! On the mountune/eibach springs, work with standard struts and not too low to be worried about speed bumps, just fill the wheel arches better and look more aggressive !!!!

Just put my Mountune axle back exhuast on my 17 NB RS today. boy it sounds more angrier hahaha. also you can hear the turbo exhaust more, on stock it was very muted
In answer to your last question wrapped yellow would look great with the black wheels etc, and there aren't many yellow RS Focuses around!

Imo the price/quality of this car is by far better than your other cars. Sure, not really comparable, but the value/power/fun you get with this car is amazing.
Sounds good, more power and doesn't hurt factory warranty. What's not to like 🙂

I think wrapping the car could be quite cool. I love the blue that the Focus RS comes in but it's a bit too common. Sadly though, I think the other colours from the factory simply don't do the car justice, which is probably why the blue is so popular. So a wrap would really make it stand out from the crowd if you ask me.
Tim, if you decide to hang on to this, you should have someone do some aftermarket performance mods to see what it is capable of.
