  • This short, popular trail on Chicago's near northwest side is listed as a top 10 for Illinois by the Rail to Trail Conservancy. I'm not so sure about that, but it is a pleasant urban retreat for a long walk or a short ride.

My daughter just moved a block from this trail and I thought I may want to ride it. Thanks for the info and I’ll stay out west on the Fox River trail that I live along. Enjoy your reviews. Thanks.

Thanks for watching and glad I could help. Perfect trail for a stroll or a dog walk. I love the Fox River Trail, I still intend to ride the entire thing some day. I'm near the IPP and use the FRT to connect its branches so I can do a nice loop ride from the Wheaton area.

I’m in St. Charles but have ridden to Oswego and all the way to Lake Geneva WI. Easy access for me to head your way or out west towards Sycamore.

@kmtnbike1117 I’ve done the Great Western Trail from St. Charles to Sycamore. Great ride.

Reminds me a bit of the Hi Line in NYC, albeit much narrower and straighter.

Just the little bit. I walked the Hi Line years ago before it was complete, just the southern section up to about 11th. It was really cool.

A dedicated car-free human powered transportation route through a metropolitan area is a bigger deal than maybe most think. Plenty of nice pleasant scenic trails out there, but this one is nice for it's infrastructure purpose and deserves the recognition it has.

I appreciate your sentiment. And agree that it is a beautiful green space worthy of recognition. Just not up to par for serious biking and lacks the diversity of scenery found on a plethora of other Illinois Rail Trails.

@@RoaminLama rail trails are multi use, not just for biking. But also "serious biking" also means commuting in the city, which many of us do on these trails. It's not a destination for out of towners, it's a highly functional bit of infrastructure for those of us that live there. As I said, it's purpose is much greater than just scenery. I never said it was a green space, just the opposite. It's a highway for people not in cars. Giving it recognition is not only deserved, it's a model for other communities to do the same.

That may be, but if you look at my channel I do bike trail reviews. I understand you have a strong opinion about the Bloomingdale trail and like I said, I respect that. But, we all don't think from the same perspective. Please at least respect different points of view. There is no right or wrong here, just opinions.

Good to see you’re over the illnesses and getting back out there. This looks like your stereotypical MUP (multi use path) full of individuals and small groups who lack in situational awareness to cause traffic problems where bicyclists are seen as the hazard. It’s fortunate that this is new because I wonder if the homeless may start encroaching upon it like they have on similar MUPs here in Pittsburgh.

You couldn't have summed up the paths clientele more accurately. Although self awareness is a problem with many recreation paths. The hoods around this path are pretty gentrified, but I was told by my family that live next to it, "don't do it at night."
