Try making sure google assistant listen for hotword is turned off in the assistant settings. If that's enabled it causes it to come through the speakers like a phone call instead of media.
I download content on my phone's youtube app. Will I be able to watch the content through the ottocast? Or only watch live youtube videos using my data plan?
Jeff, i have a 2018 Range Rover. It has both wired Android auto and carplay. Works great on my phone. Support sites for both the P3 and carlinkit plus indicate support starts with 2019. Do you think they will work?
Hi Jeff… for c300 it has Apple car play… can I use the android player features with this ottoaibox or do I need to connect it to android phone first to make it work…?
Hi Jeff great review! I just bought I otto cast. do you need to connect with your hotspot every time you get in the car ? and do you connect with the hotspot and bluetooth together? thanks
Thanks! I have a Samsung phone and we have the ability to setup a routine to automatically enable the hotspot when the phone connects to the P3 bluetooth. It works great. What kind of phone do you have?
Can i know more about the cast to hdmi feature i.e. Can two different contents be displayed - one, on the main console and the other, on the head rest monitors like the P2?
Does this support multitouch.? I am currently using an applipie mini and my car stereo is 1920x720 a bit weird ratio most of the ott apps are not working full screen. Due to lack of multitouch pinch to zoom also is not working.
excellent review, this is one great device that toggles between the apple car play interface and the custom android. Love it, I bought it based on your recommendation and it does not disappoint. One quick question: How do I remove a widget from any of the screens? When I select the widget there is a border around it and four dots, I can resize it, move it to another page but can't delete it. If you have the answer I am very appreciative. And I have one issue, related to my iphone. I have to refresh each time the hot spot (on and off) to be able to connect, is there a way to ensure that I don't have to go through that step each time I get into the car? When I turn on and off the hotspot, it shows on the list of selected networks. If I don't it does not see it.
Thank you. For removing the widget, you should be able to drag it to the spot to remove it. I don't have it in front of me to look at, but it should be at the top or bottom. For the hotspot, with iPhones I'm not sure if there's a way to automate it like with Android.
@@TechnicallyJeff Thank you Jeff, I noticed I can drag it up to the X sign at the top and that deletes the widget. The hotspot automation for Iphone should be a feature, it is the biggest PINA factor for iphone users. That would be the biggest suggestion to Otto, to force a way to recognize the hotspot. I know the apple hotspot is not the best technology. Thanks again.
I'm glad you figured that out. Yeah the iPhone needs a way to turn on the hotspot every time you're in the car. My Samsung phone has "routines", so I have it set to automatically turn on my hotspot whenever it connects to the bluetooth.
Both work well. I prefer the user interface of this more than the Tbox Plus. The Tbox Plus let's you do things this doesn't though, like access the developer settings which is required if you want to make all apps able to use split screen. The P3 can't do netflix split screen.
No Carplay takes over the entire screen. The only thing you can do is have the factory split screen enabled for carplay and on a device like the EV6 be able to view energy usage, charger information, etc on the side next to carplay.
How does this compare to MMB ai? For Mercedes e class w213 which has a really wide screen, will the Netflix fill the whole screen? Is there a noticeable drop in audio quality? Lastly, can you screen mirror from your phone as well?
Honestly never tried that one. It depends on the content. If it's filmed in ultrawide it will. If not, it will just fill the portion to make it as big as possible. No noticable drop in audio quality. And yeah it should, but I didn't test that piece personally.
If I am using wifi Hotspot from my phone to provide a data connection to an Autokit/Carlinkit. If I want to use wireless Android Auto on the device it disconnects AA which is my only real gripe. Does this device (or Carlinkit) have a way to maintain device data and AA simultaneously?
The latest software versions of the Tbox Plus have an option to "enable hotspot and wifi at the same time" so wireless android auto and device data can run concurrently.
hi Jeff, thanks for the review. I bought one just this week, but I could never connect my bluetooth mouse or bluetooth keyboard with the Ai Box. Do you have any idea ? Thanks 🙏🙏
Curious about this box… if your car gets broken into and they steal the box, will they now have access to all the apps and their logins that you have on the box? Meaning that I would have to change every single password to any app that I have on that box and let’s say my phone or tv or home pc? Thanks
Hello Jeff, thanks, i just purchased this P3 device because of your video. So far so good but i have the same display like you have in your EV6 Kia, i have a 2023 Kia Sportage GT line but netflix and youtube is not full screen. What can you do to make it full? Any tips?
When you say full screen, do you mean it's not filling the display completely when playing videos? If so, that's due to the content itself. You'd have to be playing a video that is in an ultra-wide format. Some movies on netflix, prime video, etc are full width, but some aren't. It varies. I've had some fill the screen and others just fill the middle 3/4 of the screen.
@@TechnicallyJeff yes, exactly, thats what i meant. Thanks for your answer. I will try other netflix videos that are ultra wide to fill up the entire screen.
Quick question, can you navigate around the interface without a touch screen? I was considering getting this for my Mazda but mine doesn't have a touch screen for carplay. Thanks for any info
Good video. Seems seamless between CarPlay and Android. When I installed mine the other day however, I could either do CarPlay or Android but not both. Ottocast support said “ If you want to use wireless carplay, please click the "Multiplay" app and then connect the bluetooth on your phone. Please kindly note that if you want to connect with a hotspot or wifi to play UA-cam or Netflix, please don't enter the carplay. Otherwise the wifi will be occupied. Then you can conencit the device with your phone's hotspot. Settings---Network & internet---Internet” Why is yours so seamless?
@@TechnicallyJeff thanks for your prompt reply. I'm still confused however. @ 6:22, you show opening Netflix and UA-cam. Then @ 8:16 you're opening CarPlay. Then @ 8:48 you're opening up Max. I cannot do that on my Ottocast P3. Ottocast support told me "that if you want to connect with a hotspot or wifi to play UA-cam or Netflix, please don't enter the carplay. Otherwise the wifi will be occupied." So how are you jumping back and forth and everything still works?
Hmmmm it's been a little bit since I looked at it. You're right, I'm able to do that. What does yours do when you try that? I will say, Carplay is connected to my iPhone, but the apps are connecting to a different device for wifi.
@@TechnicallyJeff what other device are you using for WiFi? Is it a device in the car that then has its own cellular radio? That would explain why you can do both.
I'm Struggling to upload pictures via Bluetooth on the ottocast p3 to change the wallpaper, do You have to use the memory card capability to add then or can you get them via Google in the ottocast p3 apps menu 🤔
Good to know, because from the instructions diagram you get the impression that his is the way to go , Usb-a to usb-c with intermediate link to car charger connector. Did you notice sometimes the ottocast disconnects the car radio when playing?
Great review. For those looking strictly for an wired to wireless android auto (without the bells and whistles) which adapter would you personally use?
@@TechnicallyJeff yeap. I saw it. Decided to ask you because there was mixed impressions on the comments area and maybe you had stumbled on another option. Guess I'll go with it. Thank you.
Just got mine today. I have a 2022 toyota 4runner. It does not show me anything, not even the UI. I am currently using another ottocast product, the A2 airpro. If i reconnect my current unit, it is being found automatically by my car. Also, just noticed that under audio source, it is being displayed as ottoaibox. When i connect my current ottocast, it shows as android auto.
@@TechnicallyJeff Yes it is. I sent an email to their support person. I have not received any response. If this drags on, and I can not return this product, I may have to fight this with my credit card company.
Hey Jeff thanks for your efforts on making these videos for us… is there any possible way to make the screen while on Netflix or UA-cam full screen? Or is there a device??
It will go full screen if the video is a widescreen aspect ratio. Some on various streaming platforms are a widescreen aspect ratio, but many aren't. It just depends.
Hey Jeff, gone through your video, and found really useful. My concern is I am getting black bars on UA-cam and other apps and can't use full screen due to 16:9 screen ratio. As the CarPlay protocol doesn't support multitouch I can't pinch to zoom. Does this box support multitouch...? Or any other box that supports multitouch. Your reply means a lot. Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately none support multitouch due to the carplay issue. That said, depending on the app you may be able to zoom in. Some have a button for that. Also, some have ultra widescreen ratios depending on the content.
Personally I prefer the Tbox Plus I reviewed. It allows access to "developer settings" which means you can enable split screen on every app, including Netflix. The P3 doesn't allow that so Netflix doesn't support split screen.
I haven't tested the magic box but I do like the Tbox Plus I reviewed more because it allows you to enable Android developer settings which let's you enable split screen for Netflix among other things.
Hey Jeff, If I'm using something like Eufy for home security & I want to stream the camera feed to my car display - will this work? I currently use the old Ottocast that only has Carplay & Android Auto, which obviously doesn't allow this. If it wouldn't be natively supported, like say through a Eufy app, would it be possible to cast it from the phone display?
@@TechnicallyJeff Thanks Jeff - just purchased with your link :) When you say it should be possible, do you mean by screen casting or as a downloaded app?
I have built in Android Auto and Apple Carplay both wireless and wired but I don't like the limitations of the app? So I am wondering will this fix my issues ? Also will everything work together like music and phone calls now work seamless.
Yes this removes the limitations of android auto and carplay. You run the apps on the device itself. Regarding phone calls, they will work using the bluetooth app on the P3. Otherwise, everything should work fine.
@@TechnicallyJeff also I want to connect a wireless bluetooth mouse the cheerdots is what I am going to try. I wanted something to connect to steering wheel that would allow remote screen touch but this may work
The EV6 powers down the USB port after a few minutes. The only time it stays powered is if the vehicle is charging. It also powers on for a few minutes if the vehicle wakes up (check status in app, unlock it). But I wouldn't worry.
When you say phone network, what do you mean? I use my phone's network via it's hotspot. There's not another way to use the phone network. Unless you're referring to putting a SIM in it like a phone, then yes that works as well, though I haven't tested it personally.
Hey Jeff, I bought the AT&T sim card, had it programmed, doubled checked with AT&T, everything is good. I cannot connect this unit, only my home wi-fi and my, works fine. ,leave the garage and it is off. I cannot get the sim card wont work, I cannot get any support from the company to answer the phone. Please do the world a favor and make a programming video as you do them so well…. Allan
Hello. Excellent an very informative video. I was just wondering if this pulls up the Apple CarPlay that is already available in my car stereo and am I able to use Alexa/Siri with this and use Alexa with Echo Auto and say, turn on my Ring alarm and or other Alexa driven devices and have Alexa or Siri turn on my SiriusXM?? I noticed NO ONE has this type of video!?! Thank you an thank you for your timely response
Thanks! It does work with Carplay but the voice assistant used with it is usually Google assistant or Alexa that gets installed on the device itself. I haven't tested it the way you're looking to use it though.
@@TechnicallyJeff THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH!!!! Now I can go ahead and repurchase Echo Auto!! Now can you tell me what makes it possible makes stronger signals or would a SIM card work better??
Hi I have a 2017 Landrover discovery with an in touch pro system, it’s has an hdmi port, but the unit itself doesn’t have CarPlay. Will this system allow CarPlay to work on this system? Many thanks
Can you tell me if the Tbox plus and or this ottocast p3 will show lyrics to songs in Spotify? And will either send an output for video on rear factory ceiling screens? I’m looking for something to add to my 2016 GMC Yukon Thanks for the info and the video is great.
I honestly haven't tried spotify, but the Tbox Plus does show lyrics in UA-cam music. I'm not sure why spotify would be different. The Tbox Plus allows you to adjust the screen min-width if you enable developer settings as well which can help with compatibility. They are coming out with a new version too with a HDMI out I'll be reviewing soon that should work with factory installed screens that have a HDMI input.
Hi. I have a Porsche Cayenne. The Porsche doesn't have CarPlay. Can i still use this device with my Porsche connecting it through my Samsung Galaxy Hotspot?
Is waze the full version like on a phone? Android auto version is limited, i want to use the full version like on a normal phone. Will this let me use the road closure function please?
Hi Jeff. I love your channel and I love your honesty and clarity. I bought the Carlinkit Tbox plus - 8gb version because of you last year. I like it, but it sometimes feels slow. Anyway, I'm gadget crazy and I'd like to know more about this new android box. Is it slicker, more responsive etc? Also, would you know anything about the Europe sim card network capability? In the UK we have 3g, 4g and 5g for mobile data. The Tbox plus only supports 3 and 4g. 1. Does this Ottocast support UK 5g? 2. Can the Ottocast be configured to require a pin number on start up? Oh, and thank you for the heads up about the ICCU recall. I have the ioniq 6!
Thank you! I thin his might be a little more responsive. As for mobile network bands, it has LTE but no 5G. There aren't any AI boxes that I'm aware of that gave 5G frequency support unfortunately. I'm not sure about the pin. I think they have that disabled on these things so people don't accidentally lock themselves out.
@@TechnicallyJeff Thank you for your reply. My Tbox falls back to 3g quite often where I tend to drive, and 3g is being switched off this year, so I really need to find a 5g AI box. I use a standalone sim in it as my phone switches its hotspot off between journeys. As for the pin, I have some cloud accounts signed into and data security would be a problem if my AI box was taken, so I think a pin is definitely required. I currently use an app which asks for a pin when I try to open certain other apps. Not sure how secure they are though. I'll keep looking :)
He just put on the screen „usb loading“ and then on lower part of screen I can choose download all but it’s music but nothing is downloading. I don’t have any applications showing on the screen
@@TechnicallyJeff a lot of people demoing it have an app called split screen. I am not seeing it. Tried to search for that app but can’t seem to find that one
Hello, I did some research and it seems that in the Kia EV6, when Apple Car Play is active, it is not possible to use the Bluetooth phone system. You have to use the Apple Car Play phone system. The problem is that the Sim card inside the Ottocast is only a card for data use and you can't make a phone call using it. This means I can't make a phone call when the Ottocast P3 is connected to my car. It' a real problem. I don't know if there's a way to configure it differently so that I can use the phone. I hope so. If you have a solution I'm really intersting in. Thanks.
You should be able to connect your phone to the P3 via bluetooth and use your phone that way. The P3 uses the carplay protocol to connect with the vehicle.
@@TechnicallyJeff Thank you for your reply. My Galaxy S24 Ultra is connected in bluetooth and when I open the bluetooth menu on the ottocast P3 all functions are disabled (contact/phone) and it says "use apple car play functions". When I use the voice button on the steering wheel and ask a question, the answer is: When Apple Car Play is activated, the vehicle's voice assistant is deactivated. You have to use Siri instead.
Oh that's when you're using the P3 for wireless carplay. Yes, doing that you have to use Carplay for those functions. I don't use it for that. I run the apps on the P3 directly.
@@TechnicallyJeff Thanks Jeff for your answer. This is the pb with EV6 as it cut the bluetooth link when carplay is activated. I guess it's the same with Carlinkit AI box ?
I think I like them both about the same. I definitely like the UI of this more. But the Carlinkit Tbox Plus allows access to developer options which allows more customization.
@@TechnicallyJeff would love to know how though as this box doesn’t support any calls/sms, just data using the built in sim slot. Plus a lot of echo on normal calls using carplay or just phone connected via Bluetooth. Certainly not an option for someone who prefers to use this for calling. Carlinkit TBox Ambient does it very well to my comparison
@@TechnicallyJeff I finally got mine and I played it for a few hours. Unfortunately, P3 wasn't able to make phone call connections and I wasn't able to receive notifications from text messages despite using Google apps. When I compare this to my Carlinkit 5.0 Tbox Ambient it runs perfectly using my SIM card and the vehicle I'm using. P3 is not for me and it also keeps freezing up. I'm returning it.
Im trying to download some movies on to this P3 device by hooking up to my computer but it does not recognize the device. How can you transfer movies on to the hard drive of the P3 box?
@@TechnicallyJeff oh ok, so you cannot hook it up with a usb c cable to the computer to transfer directly to the P3 Ottocast device the movies you want?
@@autotaxmo if you able to use team viewer on it then you should be able to use file transfer option. I use an MMB 5.0, (no hdmi port) so installed team viewer host on it and connect using my laptop for transfer or install any apps :)
Hi What is the last firmware? I have a problem with Android Auto, when I turn on the hotspot on my phone it doesn't work, so I turned on WiFi on the Ottocast and connected to my home network, in this case it doesn't work either, until I turn off WiFi on the Ottocast, Android Auto doesn't work, it shows that it is connected but there is still this screen showing that it is connecting.
Just wanna make sure. Sorry if its been asked a million times lol. But would this work for next gen ramger raptor and 2024 corolla zr? Sorry again for asking. I just dont wanna spend that much if its going to fail with me 😅
Hi Jeff, I just bought the P3 and installed it. The Apple car play screen resolution is not right. It’s not clear and the icons seem squished yet the screen is stretched. I’ve restarted it and the car and no change. Any suggestions?
Haha yeah I get that. Do you have a way to check if carplay is full screen? With Android auto, the auto manufacturer has to have updated their infotainment system software within the past few years to fill the screen. Carplay has been full screen longer.
This thing crashes on my Mercedes A250e 2020... although it worked fine in terms of playback speed in my friends 2003 Audi A3 retrofitted Android Head Unit with Car Play, But the CarLinkKit appears to work flawlessly with good picture but limited to 1080p. This one had 4K picture but framerate stuttered with no delay on audio, but just stuttering fps which was worse in 4k mode. I thought it was just the car but the car plays the same videos fine with MBUX's video player, but MBUX doesn't work when driving nor does it even have youtube capabilities. And I know its not the car because the CarLinkKit plays videos so much better. I'm sending the Ottocast P3 back, there were even times where it freezes completely and I have to unplug it for about 20 minutes before it registers my screen interactions.
Hmm that's challenging. There seems to be a slight lag with some of these devices, but it's not usually very noticeable. A full second is substantial. I'm not sure if there's much you can do in the audio settings to adjust for that. Might want to email ottocast
Not for a full android system (Tbox Plus, P3, etc). Wireless Android Auto/Carplay adapters will connect faster, but that's because they aren't loading a full system. They just mirror your phone.
I use my phone's mobile hotspot. With samsung phones, you can set it to automatically turn on the hotspot when the phone connects to it's bluetooth. It works very well.
Another question…. Having an EV6 as well, I wanted to velcro this unit right under the USB port on the console. Does a small Velcro circle affect the heat dissipation?

I wonder if we can make the sound/phone calls come through a wireless headset like a Sena. I would use this on my motorcycle.
I think you should be able to if you only connect it to the phone for media.
Can i know more about the cast to hdmi feature i.e. Can two different contents be displayed - one, on the main console and the other, on the head rest monitors like the P2?
That's my understanding but I haven't tested that personally.
Does this support multitouch.?
I am currently using an applipie mini and my car stereo is 1920x720 a bit weird ratio most of the ott apps are not working full screen. Due to lack of multitouch pinch to zoom also is not working.
Unfortunately no, none that use Carplay can do multi touch
excellent review, this is one great device that toggles between the apple car play interface and the custom android.
@@TechnicallyJeff I will use the action button on iphone 16 as hotspot activation custom button, see if that works.Thank you.
Good luck!
I have two phones. Can you easily switch between these? If not, how is that with the tbox plus?
And what is the connection time?
Yeah you just choose the one you want to connect to in the settings. It takes about 40 seconds to fully load the android system
Can I still use my steering wheel controls on the P3. 2022 Honda crv ?
You should, most vehicles can
How does this compare with the Carlinkit tbox plus? which one do you think it's better??
Both work well. I prefer the user interface of this more than the Tbox Plus. The Tbox Plus let's you do things this doesn't though, like access the developer settings which is required if you want to make all apps able to use split screen. The P3 can't do netflix split screen.
How did You bring up the OBD information did you say You had an obd2 attachment 🤔
Bluetooth obd2 adapter and the car scanner app
Can you have a widget or split screen for CarPlay?
@@TechnicallyJeff thank you!

Does the exit button in the quick settings screen take you back to the Kia car functions screen?
Yes it does
hi Jeff, thanks for the review. I bought one just this week, but I could never connect my bluetooth mouse or bluetooth keyboard with the Ai Box. Do you have any idea ? Thanks 🙏🙏
Hmm you tried connecting using the bluetooth settings of the P3?
@@TechnicallyJeff I managed to hook it up via BT connection menu, the original android BT connection page, not from P3's BT toggle.
oh interesting. glad you got it hooked up.
Curious about this box… if your car gets broken into and they steal the box, will they now have access to all the apps and their logins that you have on the box? Meaning that I would have to change every single password to any app that I have on that box and let’s say my phone or tv or home pc? Thanks
There's no lock screen, but I think you can remotely remove access / factory reset the device in Google.
Glad to help!
Can i use Bluetooth tethering from my phone to give the ottocast internet access instead of wifi hotspot
No, bluetooth doesn't have enough bandwidth for that.
Hi Jeff, excellent review. I just got my P3 and would like to know how to set up the floating bar. Thanks.
I just did it, thanks anyway.
Glad you figured it out
Quick question, can you navigate around the interface without a touch screen? I was considering getting this for my Mazda but mine doesn't have a touch screen for carplay. Thanks for any info
I believe you can, but honestly I haven't tested that. Might want to email their support.
Good video. Seems seamless between CarPlay and Android. When I installed mine the other day however, I could either do CarPlay or Android but not both. Ottocast support said “
If you want to use wireless carplay, please click the "Multiplay" app and then connect the bluetooth on your phone.
Please kindly note that if you want to connect with a hotspot or wifi to play UA-cam or Netflix, please don't enter the carplay.
Otherwise the wifi will be occupied.
Then you can conencit the device with your phone's hotspot.
Settings---Network & internet---Internet”
Why is yours so seamless?
I'm not sure what you're referring to. You're correct, you can't use the android interface at the same time as running wireless Carplay
Otherwise the wifi will be occupied."
So how are you jumping back and forth and everything still works?
Hmmmm it's been a little bit since I looked at it. You're right, I'm able to do that. What does yours do when you try that? I will say, Carplay is connected to my iPhone, but the apps are connecting to a different device for wifi.
@@TechnicallyJeff what other device are you using for WiFi? Is it a device in the car that then has its own cellular radio? That would explain why you can do both.
I have an android phone I use for a mobile hotspot.
I'm Struggling to upload pictures via Bluetooth on the ottocast p3 to change the wallpaper, do You have to use the memory card capability to add then or can you get them via Google in the ottocast p3 apps menu 🤔
Should be able to use google photos or something like that. I haven't tested it though.

Being this is plugged into the EV6, it seems it draws power after the car is turned off. Do you unplug yours everytime you turn the car off?
The usb port powers down after a few minutes unless the car is charging, so no I just leave it plugged in personally.
I have a similar wireless adapter and noticed the adapter remains powered on even when the vehicle is off. Will that be a problem for the 12V battery?
What vehicle do you have? Most, like my EV6, power down the usb port after a few min
Is the car charger necessary when using the USB-A connector? because the instructions imply so.
No it's not. I plugged into my EV6 USB-A port and it worked fine.
Good to know, because from the instructions diagram you get the impression that his is the way to go , Usb-a to usb-c with intermediate link to car charger connector. Did you notice sometimes the ottocast disconnects the car radio when playing?
Yeah I guess some car radios maybe don't provide enough power. I did not have that issue.
Great review. For those looking strictly for an wired to wireless android auto (without the bells and whistles) which adapter would you personally use?
For just that, the Carlinkit 5.0 is a solid device. I have a review of that on my channel too.
@@TechnicallyJeff yeap. I saw it. Decided to ask you because there was mixed impressions on the comments area and maybe you had stumbled on another option. Guess I'll go with it. Thank you.

Yeah I had one of the first ones. It was good but the usb connection was kind of loose so it dropped too often unfortunately.
@@TechnicallyJeff M searching for a button for that. Not succeeded yet.
I know some do. I think Prime Video does.

Hi Jeff,
My toyota fortuner is not having Android but has a screen, will i be able to use Android by using ottocast p3
You need to have wired carplay for it to work.
I wish my car was couple years newe to buy this right now, I wish some day someone makes one of this for a cars without factory Android Auto
you can get an aftermarket unit
Ottocast P3 android 12 or Carlinkit T box android 13. Please help me, Which one should I buy?
Personally I prefer the Tbox Plus I reviewed. It allows access to "developer settings" which means you can enable split screen on every app, including Netflix. The P3 doesn't allow that so Netflix doesn't support split screen.
thanks
happy to help!
What exactly does it mean that it uses the carplay protocol? If my vehicle doesn't have carplay does this work?
The vehicle sees the device as an apple carplay device and that's how it connects. If the car doesn't have carplay, it won't work.
Do you like the Otto over the Magic box 3.0?and Tbox?
I haven't tested the magic box but I do like the Tbox Plus I reviewed more because it allows you to enable Android developer settings which let's you enable split screen for Netflix among other things.
Hey Jeff,
If I'm using something like Eufy for home security & I want to stream the camera feed to my car display - will this work?
I currently use the old Ottocast that only has Carplay & Android Auto, which obviously doesn't allow this.
If it wouldn't be natively supported, like say through a Eufy app, would it be possible to cast it from the phone display?
It should be possible. You may need to do split screen though so the aspect ratio isn't too wide for the app.
@@TechnicallyJeff Thanks Jeff - just purchased with your link :) When you say it should be possible, do you mean by screen casting or as a downloaded app?
Nice! Enjoy it! It should be possible as a downloaded app.

I don't think there's a way to create shortcuts with this one
I have an EV6. Does this drain the battery by leaving it plugged in after shutting off the vehicle?
The EV6 powers down the USB port after a few minutes. The only time it stays powered is if the vehicle is charging. It also powers on for a few minutes if the vehicle wakes up (check status in app, unlock it). But I wouldn't worry.
Thank you so much for the video , can I use phone network instead of Hotspot
When you say phone network, what do you mean? I use my phone's network via it's hotspot. There's not another way to use the phone network. Unless you're referring to putting a SIM in it like a phone, then yes that works as well, though I haven't tested it personally.

I’m looking for something to add to my 2016 GMC Yukon
Thanks for the info and the video is great.
I tried a MMB Max and it wouldn’t play/show the lyrics in Spotify even after an update from the manufacturer.

Hello,
I did some research and it seems that in the Kia EV6, when Apple Car Play is active, it is not possible to use the Bluetooth phone system.

And I know its not the car because the CarLinkKit plays videos so much better.
I'm sending the Ottocast P3 back, there were even times where it freezes completely and I have to unplug it for about 20 minutes before it registers my screen interactions.
Oh wow that's interesting. You're on the latest firmware? I haven't had any freezing.
Is it possible to connect an iPad instead of the iPhone to this device?
I don't see why not
Hi Jeff, just picked one up with your link. I have about a 1 second audio delay (USB C to USB C connection). Any idea how to correct it?
Hmm that's challenging. There seems to be a slight lag with some of these devices, but it's not usually very noticeable. A full second is substantial. I'm not sure if there's much you can do in the audio settings to adjust for that. Might want to email ottocast
I have seen your review on this as well as the Carlin kit. Which one is the best or am I missing one?
I personally use the Carlinkit TBox Plus. It costs a lot less after my promo code and it allows split screen with Netflix
What about connection time?
Both take about the same - around 30-45 seconds to load up
@@TechnicallyJeffany of these devices make a faster connection?
Not for a full android system (Tbox Plus, P3, etc). Wireless Android Auto/Carplay adapters will connect faster, but that's because they aren't loading a full system. They just mirror your phone.
hey Jeff, Do you use a hotspot? or did you put a sim card into it? how does this work outside of wifi like when driving around away from home
I use my phone's mobile hotspot. With samsung phones, you can set it to automatically turn on the hotspot when the phone connects to it's bluetooth. It works very well.
Have you tried the Tbox Uhd?
I have it to test, but haven't had the opportunity yet
@@TechnicallyJeff looking forward to your review on it.
Just posted the review on it.
Hey Jeff, does this unit run/play UA-cam TV or Apple TV?
I haven't tested them specifically but they should work fine. Other streaming apps work well.
Another question…. Having an EV6 as well, I wanted to velcro this unit right under the USB port on the console. Does a small Velcro circle affect the heat dissipation?
Another question. Do you access the Ottocast P3 via the media button on the EV3 or does it default and take over the EV6 system entirely?
No that should be fine
It operates as carplay in the EV6. I have my star button in the center setup to load "phone projection" so it opens when I tap that.
Is there any audio video lag??
Not much if any that I noticed
