I lived in Aiken SC for a few months for job reason at Aiken Regional. I quickly got bored because it's just isn't a lot to do there. You're definitely right for all 6 reasons, so I decided to moved back to Columbia.
I've been living in Aiken county since '93 (except for my college years in NYC and two years in Augusta, GA). I really enjoy the area, though there really isn't much to do depending on your interests. While I've lived in the city of Aiken for a few years, I've been living in North Augusta, SC for the past 10 years and I would recommend North Augusta and Graniteville over Aiken for many of the reasons mentioned. While there's not much going on in NA as well, it is just a few minutes away from Augusta, GA, which has more shopping, dinning, entertainment, and health care options over Aiken, though I wouldn't recommend living in Augusta either. Similar to another commenter, I would suggest Grovetown (as well as Evans) on the GA side of the Savannah River. My interests outside of work (at Aiken Technical College) are painting and playing basketball, so I'm rarely bored, and a lack of a night life never bothered me, but it is something to strongly consider. One plus in my option is the location of Aiken (and Aiken county in general); it takes roughly the same amount of time to travel to Atlanta, Savannah and Charlotte and not too much longer than that to travel to Myrtle Beach or Charleston. We also really get anything more than heavy rain from any of the hurricanes and tornados (and snow sadly) are a rarity.
I have lived in Aiken for about 6 years now. I'm 35 years old. I would NOT recommend to anyone below retirement age. No night life or young people to be found. Depressing if you ask me.. Aiken rent is skyrocketing as of late as well. I would look at Grove Town GA. Also agreed with everything that was said in the video...If my family was not here I would leave like I was on fire from this area!
Not all of that is that bad, and that are not reasons to move to a city in my opinion... highlight of the city in my opinion are the tranquility, the peace, the harmony, the low crime, the friendliness... plus location, it is very close to rivers and lakes and a couple hours from the ocean and mountains.
There is no night life other than TV so yeah it's boring. Been here all my life. If you are not wealthy or semi wealthy you won't like it. Outside of church there's no social get together places for young people.
Excellent video! You mentioned things I’ve not heard in other videos! Thank you for your honesty!!
You’re so welcome! I appreciate your feedback. 😊

nailed it... as another commenter said, there is NOTHING TO DO here. I was born here, and the outsiders have killed this town.
You can go fishing and hunting
