I can see why you fell in love with this town! So very very quaint and adorable. And also... GREEN! So many trees (especially the street with the canopy of them)! I could easily see spending an evening here grabbing a bite to eat and walking it off in that park.
I remember almost a decade ago, Aiken was just an average historic small town. Now, it's trendy and niche! Thank you for stopping by. I wish I could have given you a tour 😊
Wow. I have lived in Aiken for 4 years now. I love it, But you have shown me places I have overlooked. I need to get out more. Thanks for the awesome video. 🙂
Thank you for sharing. The two things to know about Thoroughbred horseracing, SERETARIAT and MAN O' WAR, marvelous racers that delivered many spectacular performances. Secretariat's win in the third leg of the Triple Crown at Belmont Park racetrack in Long Island, New York in 1973 was and is the greatest race in the history of the sport, bar none.
We have been to a number of beautiful small towns in South Carolina. But we haven't been to Aiken yet. It looks lovely. I love those old oak trees creating a canopy over the road. Thanks for sharing Aiken with us!
If you don’t mind me asking, how do you include the maps in your videos? I’ve been working on some editing and haven’t figured that out yet. Also, I love your video on Aiken. Born and raised there and you represented us well. Thank you.
Ooooh, best in US South? Big claim. Sand trail… hmmm…wait, horse 💩? Noted. Frankie was a lot nicer guy than Al. Oh, those Hitchcocks. Having a sign that says 1 minute to pizza will only increase the appetite. Helps business, I bet. 🍕 Beer & axe throwing? Ummm…uhhhh… Last night there? Aw. Just picturesque. So many picture postcard moments. Anything from Secretariat? That horse…forever. Aimlessly wandering. Sometimes that takes us to the best places. You found them on that rainy dusk walk. I see why you are in love with the place. Turtle! 🐢 Smart to avoid the rain.
The best in the south IS a major claim! I haven’t been to every small town so I’m not sure?!? 😀 but, I did love wandering here- it was so beautiful!! Next time- beer and axe throwing!! 😂😂 thanks again and have a great weekend!
We are passing through Aiken (staying on southern side) bc we are looking to relocate…these sites are beauiful but I am not sure about living here. The traffic has been horrendous and there appears to be a HUGE disparity in income levels. It is seen from one street /block to the next. I feel really let down bc this is not the small town I thought we were coming to see … maybe the downtown area is all they are referring too? Maybe I am missing something? Suggestions on where I should be looking for the small town feels for someone who wants to live here would be greatly appreciated
In the South, it is very common to have a huge disparity between sections of even the same neighborhood on a street-by-street and block-by-block basis. One minute you are walking past million-dollar homes, the next minute you are walking past chain link fences and cars on the front lawn. It takes get used to if you are from New England where entire neighborhoods are somewhat homogenous from end to end.
There is not much food there. Aiken is know for Horses. The Street lights have a button up high so you can hit the button on your horse and all the lights will turn red and you can cross in THE WOODS
I went to look at this small town... The downtown area is just adequate. I did not like all the one-way streets. It made it very difficult to dr. And in some ways it was dangerous because you would turn and immediately there would be a stoplight. And it was in the summertime and it was just horrendously hot. Without any major lakes around that's a problem. Anyway each to their own. Just not for me
Yes and Winter is the best time to visit Aiken. This is all light up for Christmas. I lived on Berrie Road which is right down from the park
What a pleasant little side-trip! I love to travel. I had never heard of Aiken so will look into it. Thank you for sharing.

Aiken isn’t a town small by any means, your just in the tourist part.
