  • The Biqu B1 isn't just great for the price; it's great, period. It prints reliably, and it's easy to operate. It's not often that a printer comes along which only unique selling point seems to be that it's available in pink and has some RGB lights, but at first glance, that's exactly what the Biqu B1 is. But if you can look past that, you'll find a remarkably well built and reliable printer at an affordable price point. I wasn't expecting much, but the Biqu B1 taken the spot as my daily printer of choice; it's just that good. And it's also available in black.

    I was looking at an Ender 3 v2 or Ender 5 and have decided to go with this as a first printer. It comes with a board better than even the upgrade Creality one, the touch screen, and a build plate that doesn't suck. Since there's an upgraded heat break (inexpensive) that converts it to an all metal hot end. About all I'd have to upgrade is the Bowden tube (to Capricorn) and the extruder to a dual gear version since I won't likely be putting on a direct drive. I don't plan to use super flexible material so no real need to do that. When I start trying some new materials, I might add a BL Touch or clone since the connector is already there on the back. You didn't open this up, but some reviews have, and the wiring is incredibly clean and organized.

    I went with this as my first 3d printer. Prints came out perfect in PLA off the bat, took me a while to get PETG nailed down but 2 weeks later, got them coming out perfect too.

      Interesting, I actually used PETG as my first print on this (they grey ones you see in this review are PETG, pink is the PLA). ~220/70 seemed to work fine, though it varies by the exact filament make of course.

    YMMV. I tried 3 different BIQU B1's none of them worked well. Granted the B1 has great features, but what good are features when the printer doesn't print. Two heated bed failures: both attributable to blown micro fuses on their SKR 2 boards. No help from the manufacturer on trying to diagnose the problem or fix it. I started 3d printing with an Ender 2 Pro. The Ender is still sitting on my desk and printing parts to this day. The FINAL B1 has just gone back to the seller. Problems I have had on the 1st B1: the usb interface does not support long prints. On long prints, when it prints, it just stops and puts a blob of plastic on the print. I had to shut off the machine and restart it. I understood the benefit of the feature "resume print", and its handy, but the power was still on. The users B1 group advised to update the firmware. I did--still did not help the problem. The 1st B1 was an exceptionally good printer. However the motherboard sd card reader did not work, and I did not pay for a gimped printer. So the 2nd B1, bed heater failed, returned. I did not pay to fix a NEW printer. Finally, the 3rd B1 updated the firmware, still had the same problem the printer would stop mid print and I had to power cycle to resume the print. All the while BIQU was telling me send pictures and video, and when I did they ran writing: "this is not our official store, can you contact the business of this platform first." So much for the warranty card inside the printer. I bought the printer from Microcenter, a trusted retailer of electronic goods. So I just gave up on customer service and put a new micro fuse in the printer it blew the replacement micro fuse this morning and that was that. What good are great features when the printer doesn't print? My reliable and trustworthy, while not the flashiest printer, Ender 2 Pro has me converted to the Ender family. I'm now looking for a new Ender 3 V2. Sometimes bells and whistles (BIQU B1) don't match reliability and customer service (Ender).

    im between a biqu b1 and a ender 3 v2 and i can`t decide which to buy, any suggestions?

    • @OGJons
      @OGJons 3 роки тому +3

      The BIQU B1 is easier to upgrade with e.g BLTouch or a Smart Filament Sensor. The buildplate is also in my opinion better, as the prints are easier to release. The touchscreen is also a bonus. For me it's worth paying the extra for the BIQU, but the Ender 3 v2 should also be fine.

      I was actually more torn between upgrading a regular ender 3, getting the B1 or getting an ender 5. At the same price (I got my Biqu for $265) the E3 V2 doesn't seem to stack up to the B1 in almost any category. I think you should def go B1.

    I know this video was published a while back but just bought one of these on Amazon in the UK! it cost me in a sale £99..... I have built and modded a lot of printers so took me about 30 mins to assemble!! This is an amazing little printer, i have the full black version and it was so simple to add a BLTouch to, Great video thank you.....

    Bulbasaur!
    I just set mine up, leveled the bed, and pumped out the two example prints I found in the TF card. So far, so good! I look forward to printing with materials that my old Rep 2 has trouble with.
    Also, mine's all black, not pink. 10/10 for the printer, but I lose a point for fashion. :-(

    I can honestly say after having for over 3 months I have worked hard in getting the prints to look decent. I have a authentic bl touch and while it was easy to install. The bed is super warped still having issues even after leveling multiple days and swimming the platter was able to get more consistent before attaching the bl touch

    Could you go into more detail about "homing" all of the axis ? This is my first printer as well, so understanding better what you mentioned would be very helpful.

    • @MakeUseOf
      @MakeUseOf  3 роки тому

      So, in the build guide, when you get to the claibration step, it says to press "Menu -> Movement -> Home -> Z". You should actually press Z, X, and Y buttons in turn (order doesn't matter, just that you press them all). This resets each axis so it's at the 0 point basically.

    • @MakeUseOf

      I haven't used that machine, so it would be unfair of me to comment too much on it, though other reviews note a number of problems. Personally I think the direct drive extruder is better on that (no tube for filament to travel down and get stuck), but what I can say that the Biqu B1 machine has been very reliable for me so far, and definitely suitable for a beginner.

    Was considering this over the V2. The noise is a bummer, as the power supply is much more difficult to replace than a simple cooling fan at the hotend. Good review, thank you
