#smallwin my siblings and I recently teamed up to purchase a Deering Goodtime 2 resonator banjo for our Dad who hasn’t owned/played a banjo for a solid 15 years. He played a lot in high school and college but had to sell his banjo a while ago and has never owned one since. I will now be able to jam with my dad to some good old fashioned American bluegrass tunes.
Love the show - I look forward to Tuesdays. I got to see The Honey Dewdrops in a small venue in Western Maryland about a year ago and got to chat a bit with Kagey about his Huss and Dalton. Love their sound. Thanks for sharing them with your audience.
After buying average guitars and not playing them much because my fingers were in constant pain, I finally saved up the scratch to purchase a decent guitar (Martin 000-17) It feels so good to play something that doesn't hurt, I've been at it religiously every day. I finally feel like I can advanced my skills to meet my expectations
Love the Acoustic Tuesday episodes. Keep them coming. Also love the shear unpolitical correctness of sipping on fine whiskeys during the show. Whiskey recommendations: Bunnahabhain (Islay Region) and Garrison Brothers (Texas Bourbon)
#smallwin I am now a Bourbon drinker. Thanks to the Dartboard challenge, I challenged myself to try something new and picked up a bottle of Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Happy to report It goes down nice while watching Acoustic Tuesday. Great show Gents, and Tony, you are a fantastic teacher. Would love to see you play one complete tune on each show. Cheers from Canada.
Really enjoy watching the weekly episodes; just wish I could find a consistent link for past videos and the links for recommended products; can't seem to find the shows on UA-cam. Talking tuners, I saw James Taylor using a Peterson strobe tuner. Any comparison to the Polytune?
The Peterson tuner is nice and accurate (the clip on version). It's profile on the headstock isn't to my liking but as far as accuracy Peterson tuners are some of the best.
I’ve read Emmylou Harris call that quality in a voice as “high lonesome.” She has that quality in her voice. George Jones, Hank Williams both had that sound in their voice. It sounds as if they’re on the verge of crying, but then they go on singing. Patsy Cline had this too, definitely. I believe all the great singers, in many genres, have this.
Ellisa Gutierrez you are correct, Patsy once said don’t bother singing if you can’t sing with feeling... I try for emotion...I assign a time or place to a song and then sing it...with the Memory of that emotion...Bob Dylans song I shall be released...the memory of my awful 20 years of a county job..,
I love Doc's Gallagher guitar sound. "It rings like a bell" is what Merle Travis said. The first Gallagher he used was nicknamed "Ole Hoss" and was auctioned for $40,000 in 2012. I wonder if there is a more affordable version of than the Doc Watson Gallagher that could give you that sound? Also #smallwin finding out about Billy Strings. If you haven't listened to his music do it now, your life will be little more complete instantly.
Very interesting show except maybe the darts thing. Having recently lost about an inch off my fourth digit on my fretting hand I am becming very interested in dobro and lap steel. I just bought a 1957 National Valco Supro stell guitar. Its a whole differnt ballgame. I'm also trying to come up with a prostetic device which is tapered and slightly curved with a flat edge to press down the string. I might try a 3-D printer.?????????????????
Doc started with Martin D-18 then used Gallagher Guitars then toward the end of life Dana Bourgeois gifted him a guitar and he used it until he passed away...
Tony, I have been taking the 5 day challenge, it is talking longer than 5 days, but I will finish it. Today can this Video, I listened to the Honey Duedrops. I am also learning old time banjo, this group was great to hear. Thx for sending. I want to email you directly, but could not find and email address. Mike Markowitz
Mike, Anytime you wish to contact us please do so at info@tonypolecastro.com :-) So glad to hear you are digging into old time banjo as well. Cheers!!!
#smallwin I am now able to play and sing at the same time few songs with difficult chords, licks and riffs. Well, they're not really difficult but for my level at least. Nonetheless it's quite an achievement for me.

Just finished my job. Now I can enjoy this week episode with cup of coffee.

LOVE this. So glad I found you Tony as I am just starting out learning to play. You get it, you get what I like and how I want to learn.
Thank you!

Have you played guitar like a hammer dulcimer? I just did with my Allen wrench and it was great!

this might be a dumb question but do you play electric guitar?
I do but rarely :-)
Doc started with Martin D-18 then used Gallagher Guitars then toward the end of life Dana Bourgeois gifted him a guitar and he used it until he passed away...
#smallwin This past may I took my first plane trip and saw Bob Dylan in London.
I had nothing to do with paying off Tony's yoga instructor. Thanks for the bottle of 1937 Macallan Noah.

I hope you know and listen to Sarah Jaroz. Beautiful !!!
#smallwin - Tony S recorded and posted first original tune (Sand & Seagulls) in the Open Mic forum.
The song reminds me of Snoopy :D

22 bucks for a piece of tiny plastic. The smell of money for dunlop?
Sorry for any confusion, that link takes you to a bag of 12 picks . I couldn't find one for just one :-)
All right; i thought they produce expensive models like some custom picks.
Could you maybe give a comparison of those custom picks?
