i think what a lot of podcasters dont realize is the sm7b is a great mic for singing because the capsule is set back in the grill helps with the proximity effect. Yes the sm7b is used in radio but also for recording music, vocal singing ect. The other mics sound great for speaking especially for the price.
While I agree, your statement means that all you need to do is backup a bit from the other microphones and achieve the same effect. What a big plus for the SM7B for music production to talk about is the extended recording range for sounds beyond 20khz, like many other mics have. Some budget mics might stop at 16khz
@@DarkenedCyrus To me the two microphones you are reviewing that are made by the same manfacturer have too high of a pitch and are sharp to the ear. I can also tell you are equalizing them instead of straight across the board flat with no equalization due to the robotic overtone when you are talking through them. To me the one mic that is similar to the mv7 sounds better than both the k688 and the am8. Also I didn't notice any mention, do any of the other 3 mics have the built in filter switches that the sm7b has? The other concept to think about here is it still place a factor of the speaker's natural voice as some microphones will sound better than others for different people speaking into them. For the person starting out I would definitley take the FDUCE SL40 even based on you and your brother's voice, though I'd have to check if they have some type of shock mount that would work for it as that was the only thing that concerned me about it.
It's even used in professional recording. It's the mic used to record the song "we are the world", the og one with Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie and various other artists
So I have the Shure SM7B, BUT I am very glad to see this because I'd love to have something to recommend people that is more affordable. this sounds amazing!
@@Faithlovehope1 Yes, unless you have the money to throw or you wont feel happy with a budget option. No average person will be able to notice a difference, they even might think this sounds better, it really does come down to preference at the end of the day once something sounds crisp. So yeah go for this one. It's got XLR cable if you want to get something like the wave XLR to make it do even more and then you can add your own VST's to the mic so you can practically make it sound however you'd like.
Please help me. I am trying to decide on a budget mic and so far have decided among FIFINE k668, FFINE AM8, Razor Seiren Mini and Hyper X Solocast. I really need a good enough mic to make my videos and I need to order them ASAP. Any help would be appreciated. You can also recommend any other mic if you want around this price range Thank you,
I expect something about the word "regret" that there are some mics that has slightly same performance with your mic but with much cheaper price. Love the positivity.
@@abonaif373 The Hyperx Solocast is a condensor mic and will pick up more background noise, pop sounds, and tongue clicking, plus it doesn't come with a pop filter. I think the AM8 is better.
On XLR, the SM7B stands head and shoulders above the others. The other mics had very noticeable echo, whereas the SM7B didn't (probably down to its better noise rejection and how it deals with space). USB-wise, these mics sounded very good (the apps definitely help), but that handling noise is not great (boom arms for the win!).
Thank you, I was listening to the first three thinking ok yea not too bad, bit middy, bit harsh, nothing some signal chain can't fix, and then the Shure was tested and the context was set and my previous feelings were confirmed, no they don't sound anything like it or anywhere near as good. That being said for $57...or $80....eh, really not bad. Handling noise made me cringe also, I doubt that would be much better on a boom. But i agree pretty much entirely with your breakdown, including the change to USB was actually a big improvement.
@@Bearnosut to be fair that's not how the SM7B is supposed to sound like. Normally it sounds way better that in this vid, I was quite frightened after hearing him talk through the mic, it definitely isn't adjusted properly because it normally doesn't sound like you are talking through a Pringles tube lol
That's really the whole point of the SM7, it doesn't sound amazing on everyone but it's a tight sounding mic and it minimizes room sound. It's been used on a lot of records when the recording studio has a less than ideal recording room or vocal booth. Or when you need very little room sound because you know you're going to compress the hell out of it later.
I mean ofc the sm7b is good but it's ment for musicians not for normal use so none musicians don't really need it if you r just a normal streamer that plays games etc its waste of money even more waste if you r new to streaming or content creating that dosent evolve music since it's meny youtubers and streamers that r successful with shity gear a good example woud be Ksi hade a shity sett up until recently he got a new pc but he hade a shity sett up for years even better example it's mkbhd also used bad sett up for years aswell
@@rebrandftw No problem definitely will do that. We know that's the only way to let us stand out from the rest budget audio gear. And please also provide us with more insight to let us design the product to fit your needs even better!
I actually liked the AM8 on USB more than I did on XLR. The sound when it's on XLR sounds like it has too much of a mid scoop, whereas on USB it sounds like its more natural without sounding super flat.
It’s only a legend because media has made it that way. No doubt it’s a decent microphone, but it receives way too much praise when other microphones both more expensive and cheaper offer similar or better quality
I think the budget mics would be good for a starting streamer/podcaster, a budget setup or a traveling situation. That being said I would not give up my Shure SM7B for any of these mics as my daily driver.
@Mr-R.R. Except I’m offering alternatives to people who aren’t flush with 400$ for a microphone. I’ve made a video where I built an entire streaming pc, camera, lighting, capture card, and graphics card for the same price as the SM7B. The fact is this video shines light on that budget alternatives are an option. Are they better? In some ways, maybe. Especially with USB as an option.
@@DarkenedCyrus I'm confused by this comment. My criticism was about the commenter saying they aren't gonna switch to these ones because they already have the $400 top tier mic. And I'm like "yeah of course you wouldn't. Why would you?" Cause like you said, this video is for people who either don't have that expensive mic already or are looking for alternatives and that was also my point :)
I'm so glad I was patient about searching because this is the type detailed reviewing I need to hear and see. I'm a new radio host and I've just moved away from the radio station. So I can't record in the studio anymore. And seeing what the usb variants did here. I'm gonna with what you have, the silver one. The one that you initially reviewed, Sounds awesome but if out the box sounds like the silver is sounding like it usb on here. I copping that right away. This is def a legendary video for getting great insight. I will be honest, I only stayed because the sound quality was so legit all around in this video. So thank you very much for this. Have your brother on here more, he made it more convincing on what to get.
AM8 for the win on XLR and usb. The Feducci actually lost some audio quality over usb. The K688 was ALMOST the same as the AM8, but the AM8 performed better with handling noises. For ANY mic, but especially The AM8 absolutely use a good shock mount. Thanks for this video
Has an insane amount of handling noise, but I guess that's what helps keep the price down. EDIT: don't let that deter you though I think it sounds amazing for the price, just need to be careful to mute if you need to move it. Capacitive touch buttons also seems nice with the amount of handling noise as you don't need to tap them that hard.
No one should care about handling noise on a mic that goes on an arm and can also be shock mounted if you *really* need it. But there's very few situations where you'll need something to deter handling noise on a mic for its intended use.
@@CluelessHooman That's the same on every single mic. Every content creator that tries to say otherwise doesn't understand how microphones work. If you want me to elaborate I would be more than happy to. The TLDR is every mic with a cardioid pattern is so similar to another that background noise rejection from specific mics is a myth. And yes Condensers, Dynamics and Ribbons all have the same noise rejection. Patterns and frequency response are the only things that matter, and they can't be much different than each other.
@@skorpers I see. Do you have any idea for beginner/budget mics that has good noise rejection? Sorry if this is too much to ask but I've gone through two mics so far and got them based on reviews but I'm not satisfied with their level of noise rejection. They're both condensers with a cardioid pattern and with the same frequency. One's a "gamer" brand while the other is a Rode. Rode somehow has better noise rejection though that might be somehow of a bias to me since it's more expensive than the other one lol
The Fifine Gaming microphone is really all you need for a good budget price...I swapped out my $250 mxl XLR mic for the usb mic and it does really well
I found this video on my recommended and I'm really glad i clicked. That was fun to watch. You and your brother have fun podcast-y energy even in reviews. The AM8 is 47$ on a deal sale right now. Might have to get one. Thanks guys!
Basically if you can afford the Shure SM7B then you’ll get an unmatched sound. The finefine is your best alternative for a budget, I handle audio for a living and I listened to the differences through my iPhone mic, it wasn’t even close. However the rules apply the same as music & entertainment, it don’t matter about the mic it matters about the who’s using it. A great content creator is a great content creator regardless of mic and same with artists/songwriters.
I just got this mic 2 weeks ago and was getting frustrated with how it would "mute" suddenly. Looking at your video now made me realize I had it upside down (the mute button was facing down/me). 😭😂
I will preface this by saying that I don't much or anything about audio, but I have had my sm7b for almost a year now, and maybe I'm just really dumb.. I have had it will the go xlr, and now have it with the elgato wave xlr because no matter WHAT I did with the xlr levels, the gain was so low... but I have honestly never understood or gotten the hang of the sm7b. It never sounds as good as everyone else makes it sound. And I feel like it's soooo sensitive to the point of everything interfering with it. I just found out have been having a high ringing sound for MONTHS without realizing because a key light on my desk was interfering! I have never had such issues with mics before EVER! I thought the new mic in question sounded the best out of all of them, especially with usb-c! Save yourself the 400 dollars unless you're a professional who knows how to get the most out of the sm7b. Super disappointed by that mic, and now I wanna sell it.
Thanks for review! Fifine gives 90% of shure. At least in my headphones. So it would be perfect for 99% of gamers and beginners podcasters. For 50-100$ no brainer.
This was simply a perfect, very insightful review and happy to know what I’m getting in the mail very soon, just ordered this yesterday and y’all got me hyped for this! Amazing review💯🔥
I've been using SM7s and RE20's since the 80's. Recently picked up a new SM7B because my old one was looking too rough. Not sure what you did to get that SM7B to sound so bad, but for anyone reading through the comments here, understand that the SM7B doesn't sound anything like that.
that mic really benefits from a high quality mic pre and needs a lot of level so can pick up a lot of noise with low quality gear. My SM7 and RE20s are both kinda beat, might need to pick up a new SM7 myself.
Agreed, it sounded terrible… Like it was in a can. Yet, one of the SM7B’s most natural strengths is it’s ability to pack its own sound environment with its’ dynamic, quiet, proximity nature. Sounded like an entirely different mic in this video.
I think the FiFine AM8 sounded the best. As in the most balanced and dry. No extra irritating hi presence & the least amount of background noise. The FiFine K688 was very close to that A little more highs but not fatiguing 11:11 exactly how I felt about the SM7B
I wanted to buy the AM8 from Fifine, and I found this video while scrolling through my recomendations page. There is a comment that said that they sound good on USB and an other that said that the AM8 sounds better on USB. I do not plan on buying an audio interface, so the AM8 is still a good choice for me ! Thanks !
@@pirulino396A8 is usb only different rgb look, it's what I use and I loveit AM8 is similar plus xlr, different type of RGB as seen on this video. And it's what I'm thinking of getting in combo with fifine's audio interface SC3 it's a pretty highly recommended combo for under $100.00

@mousbleu a $350 upcharge for a shock mount justifies it? Don’t get me wrong, I still use the SM7B almost daily, but justifying it just for handling noise alone isn’t the best call. The Rode PodMic for $99 also doesn’t have handling noise with its built in shock mount.
For some reason, the Shure SM7B sounds like you're in a can compared to the AM8 and even the K688. I'm actually loving the budget mics! Check out the Samson Q9U btw! I love it so much, I order two for each of my computers. You'd might want to compare the Samson Q9U to the SM7B as well. Much lesser in $$ = $99 (XLR+USB-C) but superior to the Shure SM7B (in my opinion).
I will say, I prefer USB over XLR in this test because if you listen closely, the XLR connection sounds super robotic and not natural. USB eliminates that while sounding practically identical, if not even better. And personally, I prefer the sound of the AM8 over the SM7B. I feel like it sounds more professional and clearer compared to the SM7B
Oddly enough I also agree on this. @fullmetal_ is also right, but also wrong. They SHOULD sound better in all ways, but a great USB mic against a bad XLR mic can prove that wrong.
@@DarkenedCyrus I mean my current microphone choices are the AM8 or the Maono PD400X. both fairly priced with good aesthetics and amazing sound quality for the money. I am trying to make a full white or white/black setup for streaming and recording but finding things that have good performance while also looking good for a setup is quite challenging. Will probably settle for the AM8 because of the price to performance. Sounds close to an SM7B with the proper OBS audio settings but for a fraction of the price. Awesome review on the microphone.
This was a great video! After watching this video, which microphone would you highly recommend for voice over in animation? I talk/ yell loud and have lows as well. I use a Blue Yeti right now. Do you have any recommendations?
Thank you! Every mic will react different to each voice, so I can’t speak specifically for your voice. That being said, I think the FDUCE is a great mic if you can use it as XLR and add a compressor so that you don’t clip on your loud sections
I don’t know if it’s due to bad mic, untreated room, stand or post processing but that SM7B sounds broken. I’ve listened to many sm7b’s and none of them had that weird little background reverb.
I don’t think the mic is bad, nor was there any pos processing added to the recordings. The room isn’t well treated or at least to the point that I could say that it is treated.
On XLR K688 sounded the best in my opinion. AM8 XLR has some strange noises in the low end, I think they are hard to eq out. K688 has a clearer sound, easier to eq and post process. I would go for k688. Great video!
Just ordered this from Shein for only €42 saw it on amazon for a rocking €74,99. Fifine is selling on Shein so i am waiting. Thanks for the video and comparisons!
What is your honest preference for a microphone for this price point that utilises USB audio? I've researched and landed on brands such as the Fifine am8, audio-technica AT2020 USB, audio-technica 2100x USB, and Samson Q2U.
Definitely a bit muddled, and the rest of the 'good sound' to me is your XLR interface. I believe there are quite a few potential 'budget microphones' that are XLR since you're removing one of the major pain points of budget USB mics (being their electronics not being very good).
so for the shure a cloudlifter is reccomended because i as a music producer can recognize that you had the gain on your interface really high as u were talking very low and therefore u can here the radio type sound in the recording and also just a tip u can modify the highs and lows kn the shure to match your voice, for example if you have a deep voice with a lot of bass turn up the highs and turn down the lows ect..
I think this reinforces the point here. Now a 400$ microphone needs a $100 cloud lifter and a good preamp, which can cost 100+ depending on the interface. 600$+ when a 50$ microphone can sound close to it.
These don’t come with shock mounts and can be what you get when you purchase them. I could put them on a boom arm, but same goes as that isn’t an expense that’s included.
Don't forget about that sm7b is often used to record music and vocals, so you kinda leave out a lot about that, if you just need a talking mic you can obviously go cheaper and won't notice much difference, but sm7b that's what you are paying for, the versatility to use it well across the board, including and perhaps for the most part, as a music recording studio mic
If you go up in budget a bit just get a shure sm57 or 58 for like 100 bucks sounds pretty much as good as the sm7b and is literally the one of if not the most popular microphone in the world right now and has been for years so if you want it to sound like an sm7b there's a good chance someone who's done that already and posted it and its also just a really good versatile and robust microphone due to it being dynamic and not a condenser. It's used in everything from instrument recoding, voice-overs, vocals, press conferences, live vocals. If you want a mic for something, the sm57 can probably do it.
Totally agree, except you still need an audio interface which is an additional cost. The USB option on board definitely adds a lot of opportunity for this mic to upgrade a budget creator's audio setup.
What is the microphone stand that you are using for the AM8? Also do you think your mic stand is good or would a boom arm be better to purchase? Thank you!
I'm still watching haha! I currently use two different Fifine mics and for the money, I cannot beat them. I'm using the K678 as my main at the moment. My Blue Yeti sits in the corner collecting dust.
I know nothing about microphones, but I do still know this about audio: Current wireless headphones don't have lossless audio. UA-cam doesn't have lossless audio. So literally no-one in this video or watching this video can actually determine really anything.
By the way, I love Star Citizen. Now that we have established that, I completely agree. That being said, barely anyone is watching content on an audiophile setup with wired headphones into a great preamp. Me using a wireless headset is no different than AirPods. Totally agree that there is audio degradation, good call out.
@@DarkenedCyrus I felt that "barely anyone". I believe most of those microphones make the cut in when it comes to streaming. Of course for the price, you can save a lot of money that can be well used in other pieces of set-up. I liked the video but I was able to identify some of the differences and the touchy noises that came from handling the mic's. By the way, I use an audient ID4 pre-amp with Sennheiser HD 599. Just upgraded the setup from Mv7x to SM7B. 😅
I will add that at least 50% of the time, viewers aren’t going to be paying 100% attention. They’re doing chores, errands, driving, eating, exercising/working out, working, in a noisy environment, etc. I am almost never in a quiet or non-busy environment aside from gaming or watching something in my room.
I agree that the K688 had the most balanced sound imho, even better than the SM7B. The cheaper options had overblown bass that would need to be corrected.
Hey nice video and a ton of content. Would love to get some time stamps though to get some quick reference comparisons. Thanks for taking the time to put this one together.
I just watched both of your videos, this one and the Fifine K688 video. I am so close to buying one of these to replace my condenser Yeti (I just don't have a good soundproofed room). My question for you is- if I have this on a mic arm (was eyeing the Elgato low profile arm) and I want to move it around, will it have the "handling noise" that you mentioned? I haven't had a mic on an arm yet but I know I move around a lot and imagine I will be adjusting it all the time. Also I am curious about your thoughts on if either of the Fifine mics you tried would be good for vocals?
The AM8 will have some handling noise, but the K688 has a shock mount and it performs awesome. Practice care and don’t pull it around by the microphone, but the arm itself and you shouldn’t have any issues (I have multiple streams on Twitch you can reference with the mic) As for vocals, it will perform great if you like the initial sound. I do think it will need some of the 1-8khz pulled out if you are a higher singing voice (tenor and above), but seeing as it performs close to the SM7B and is EQ’d out of the box, it’s a great starting point.
@Darkened Cyrus You're the best, thank you so much for such a thorough reply! You've saved me $400+ 😂 Will check out the streams and of course any future videos you post. Thanks again!
You recommend Fifine but use Shure in your latest video 🤣 Good video nonetheless. For people making music the Shure is a no-brainer as it's also a good singing mic. Greetings from China !
Totally do. No reason to not use any of the mics I have. The SM7B is a great mic that can be tuned, which I’ve done with multiple EQ’s and compressors. That being said, the Fifine mic out of box is the better choice when it comes to value. I stand by statements, but using a mic doesn’t mean anything
shure sm7b is 400 dollars for a reason 50 dollar mics can't replace those but your budget is everything so that will dictate what you are able to spend.
Okay so idek if you still check the comments on this video but still I'm in the market to upgrade my audio and I'm unsure if I should go with the Am8 and the Audio Technica ath-m50x or if I should just get the Audio Technica ath-m50xSTS the difference is that the sts has a built in mic that is considered one of if not the best built in headset mic and so I'm unsure to spend my money on the built in mic or if it's worth getting the Am8 instead. The difference is about 8usd in favour of the STS accounting for the need of a boom arm, And that there's no discount available. So which would you recommend?
Regardless, a headset microphone will always pale in comparison to a bigger capsule on a dedicated microphone. If you need that versatility of moving your body/head around way out of reach of a mic on a stand, then go headset. IMO, go AM8.
I have an Auna 900b, would it be worth upgrading to one of the microphones suggested here? I have a very reverberant room and my Auna does not like that. I would appreciate any recommendations.
Great review! I have a question tho, lets say i can buy the k688 12 bucks cheaper, is there a siginificant advantage that the am8 offers? Or should i just go with the k688? And does the shock mount actually works? Thanks in advance!!
😎Depends on your usage. The RGB AmpliGame AM8 has more efficient noise reduction for the deeper lows, which makes it quite useful for gaming in a noisy environment. The K688 has a decent appearance and the more balanced bass and mids give it a more neutral tone for voice-over, podcasting, or even vocal recording.
I'm considering purchasing one of these microphones, but now I'm confused about which one to buy. Please help me decide: 1. Shure SM57 Dynamic Instrument Microphone 2. RØDE PodMic USB Versatile Dynamic Broadcast Microphone With XLR and USB Connectivity for Podcasting, Streaming, Gaming, Music-Making, and Content Creation 3. FIFINE XLR Dynamic Microphone, Vocal Podcast Microphone with Cardioid Pattern, Studio Metal Mic for Streaming Voice-Over Dubbing Video Recording, Black-K669D 5. Rode PodMic Cardioid Dynamic Broadcast Microphone, Black
Are these dynamic? I have a condenser mic as a streamer and pics up WAY too much high pitch when I yell / scream... What mic would you recommend for a screamer streamer? Also, Boom arm should help with handling noise? Nice video, thanks for the info
Why is no one testing these fifine mics with their headphones on? Is it bcz the headphone output sucks!!? Bcz I tested their tank 3 last week and the headphone output doesn’t even represent what the mic really sounds like, so you hear something else while monitoring and if you connect your audio interface for editing later on, the sound is almost completely different 😅
I can say... If you have the right preamp for shure sm7b it kills many mic on the marked. But for a budget guy the mic you show here had the best sound. I have Rødecaster duo and rødepod mic, very expensive and overkill for a gamer tho, i payd 900usd for them both, rødecaster ( is more expensive in norway ).
I think this adds to the issue though if it NEEDS an expensive pre amp. For creators and gamers, I agree that this cost is totally overkill for it just to be compressed online unless you are using it for other things
would the K688 work if I use a USB C to USB C cable to connect it directly to my Mac? sorry for this stupid question but it would be my first mic :P also, what's the link for that stand you used with it? thank you!
Hello I’m hoping you see this! I sim race so lots of moving parts, what is an xlr mic that you would recommend for top quality noise cancellation? The mic will be on a boom arm and it would be nice to cut the wheel and pedal noise as well as my occasional low end grunts 😂
Anything dynamic and close to your mouth as possible. You can also implement the noise reduction filter in OBS or use Nvidia Broadcast to use AI to filter out those sounds

So I am looking at the Audio Technica AT2020USB mic from the reviews people seem to like it more than the Blue Yeti. Would you recommend the Fifine AM8 higher than a Yeti? If so, would you take the old Technica mic or the new Fifine?
Hey, im sorry this isnt anything related to any microphones that youve shown in the video but a microhone from Fifine called Fifine K683B. So ive been wanting to know if thats a good microphone for recording a food ASMR video. Ive been checking many reviews but still wasnt sure if i should get that. Hey what’s the stand for that mic called the little desk stand one! It’s perfect for my setup and seems versatile. Also amazing video, I love when creators use previous products from past experiences/videos IN REVIEW VIDEOS not just mentioning that they exist. Feels much more professional
I'm not 100% certain that its not just my headphones, but I could hear some very faint interference noise during all XLR mic testing in this video. I only noticed because when you switched to USB on the mics that support it, the interference noise was noticeably absent. Might be something wrong with your interface? Not totally sure but I figured I would mention it. Great video though!
SM7B will last a lifetime it's made of metal. It's not a plastic USB toy with led lighting effects for children that will fail in a few years because of built-in obsolescence. It has extremely effective switches. It has the best close proximity sound of any mic IMO. Is has clarity. You can scream death metal into it with your lips touching the wind screen and it will sound amazing. You can mic a loud 4x12 guitar cab and it will not distort or break.
While I agree with what you are saying, the creators who just leave it on a desk and never move the microphone will never experience this, and in all honesty, I'd go for a SM57 or SM58 over the SM7B any day for stage performance or cabinet work as the SM7B's XLR relocated cable is a big point of failure if packed wrong or mishandled. And that being said, those are $99 microphones, meaning 4 mics for the cost of 1 SM7B, still a much better value
@@DarkenedCyrus I have a small channel, but I want to increase my content quality. Your video was very helpful, and I appreciate your feedback! I’m looking into getting this AM8.

I think your video caused some snobbery to occur while they hyperventilate. Seems like the headphone elitists have bled into the "SM7B best microphone period" crowd lol. It sounds fantastic imo, certainly worth the price.
Exactly. I’m ok with challenging the status quo. As someone looking to help small creators, it hurts me to see a SM7B in their setup when that $400 could have been spent somewhere else to upgrade their setup instead of on that one microphone. And at that, it still requires an audio interface, so $550 for that plus a wave xlr? Could have bought a mirrorless camera and a microphone with that…

So I have the Shure SM7B, BUT I am very glad to see this because I'd love to have something to recommend people that is more affordable. this sounds amazing!
Mike do you think I should get this one instead the sm7b?
I have two fifine mic´s already and what i can say is that im in love already. So much quality for such a low price is insane.
Exactly!
What it’s better hyperx solocast mic or fifine a8 mic
@@abonaif373 Fifine Am8
fifine wins@@abonaif373
@@benpatterson4391 imo the Shure just sounds too flat and sounds like it's missing something
I've used Fifine K688 for over a year & love it. Recommend it all the time.
❤Really appreciate it!

I actually liked the AM8 on USB more than I did on XLR. The sound when it's on XLR sounds like it has too much of a mid scoop, whereas on USB it sounds like its more natural without sounding super flat.
i agree
Is there a latency
It's so weird, i thought the same kind like "whaaat?" Crazy how far USB mic's have developed in just a few years (assuming this is raw audio).
@@noahhayden6256 USB is raw audio. I did end up buying it and I tested it out and it sounded really good for USB.
depends on the interface too, there needs to be tuning because you're getting amplified more than the mics built in usb preamp

Appreciate your appreciation! 🥰🥰
@@FIFINE I also got 683. The sound is incredible even without any software enhancements. Thank you for incredible value product!
Shure SM7B is the Legend. With Rodecaster pro 2 it is fantastic!😊
That's what I was going to say. 👍🏼
Mv7 better bfb
Well duh. You already have it lol. Makes no sense to go with something cheaper that's meant to sound similar
Thank you for the microphone comparison test and your suggestions on our future releases! Definitely a helpful review video👍
That’s what an all plastic body gives you unfortunately, but I agree with you on the price!
What about background/ambient noise?
The Fifine Gaming microphone is really all you need for a good budget price...I swapped out my $250 mxl XLR mic for the usb mic and it does really well
Love this!
I found this video on my recommended and I'm really glad i clicked. That was fun to watch. You and your brother have fun podcast-y energy even in reviews. The AM8 is 47$ on a deal sale right now. Might have to get one. Thanks guys!

As someone who can't use a mic arm, I was glad to finally hear a review using a desktop microphone stand.
Best desktop mic stand is the new Rode one that released. Hands down. It’s now my dedicated mic stand for my a cam
@@DarkenedCyrus can you use it for any microphone( the rode stand)? Like the one in this video
Thank you so much for this. I think you just saved me $400.
Thanks for review!
Fifine gives 90% of shure. At least in my headphones. So it would be perfect for 99% of gamers and beginners podcasters. For 50-100$ no brainer.
My thoughts exactly
This was simply a perfect, very insightful review and happy to know what I’m getting in the mail very soon, just ordered this yesterday and y’all got me hyped for this! Amazing review💯🔥

I've been using SM7s and RE20's since the 80's. Recently picked up a new SM7B because my old one was looking too rough. Not sure what you did to get that SM7B to sound so bad, but for anyone reading through the comments here, understand that the SM7B doesn't sound anything like that.
Raw sound from the recording software. I’ve done other comparisons with it as well!
that mic really benefits from a high quality mic pre and needs a lot of level so can pick up a lot of noise with low quality gear.
The FiFine K688 was very close to that
A little more highs but not fatiguing
11:11 exactly how I felt about the SM7B
Appreciate your appreciation! 🥰🥰
UA-cam recommended it to me after buying fifine 669😢😢😢
I am sure anyone that buys the SM7B either owned it previously or feel good owning one. Fifine Mics are daily Mics to use anywhere.
Thanks !
Love this! I think it sounds great on USB as well, for XLR, I’d opt for another microphone for the price, but this one does awesome on USB
I already replaced my Razer Seiren Mini with the fifine A8 which is amazing. This looks really good too
What is the difference between A8 and AM8?
@@pirulino396A8 is usb only different rgb look, it's what I use and I loveit

The handling noise there is confirmed me that the SM7B is worth it, thanks.
The SM7B also has handling noise if made to. Any mic on a shock mount will remove the handling noise as well.
@@DarkenedCyrus No it doesn't, mine doesn't at least 🤣 And no need for a shock mount. That alone justify the cost.
I actually just got the am8, and me and few buddies are actually going to be starting a podcast and I convinced them to change and buy the am8 mics
Hmm i think the am8 is nowhere near the sm7b not sure what youre hearing
FDUCE mic. Not a bad beginners microphone.
I am so glad I am not the only one who pronounces it Fee-Doo-Chee, and not Eff-Douce!
I will say, I prefer USB over XLR in this test because if you listen closely, the XLR connection sounds super robotic and not natural. USB eliminates that while sounding practically identical, if not even better. And personally, I prefer the sound of the AM8 over the SM7B. I feel like it sounds more professional and clearer compared to the SM7B
what??? XLR is way more natural sounding than USB mics are. Idk what on earth you mean.
@@fullmetal_3961 i said in this test. not overall. im not saying personal use, just the video made it sound better on USB compared to XLR.
@@DarkenedCyrusmaybe needs post processing as you're completely bypassing its internal interface that's tuned to it
This was a great video!
@@DarkenedCyrus maybe it’s because of that, my main concern was that it’s only audible in certain pitch
On XLR K688 sounded the best in my opinion. AM8 XLR has some strange noises in the low end, I think they are hard to eq out. K688 has a clearer sound, easier to eq and post process. I would go for k688. Great video!
This video made me buy the SM7B 😍
Just ordered this from Shein for only €42 saw it on amazon for a rocking €74,99. Fifine is selling on Shein so i am waiting. Thanks for the video and comparisons!
Wait, what? It’s on SHEIN? Yo!
What is your honest preference for a microphone for this price point that utilises USB audio? I've researched and landed on brands such as the Fifine am8, audio-technica AT2020 USB, audio-technica 2100x USB, and Samson Q2U.
I'm not quite half way through this video and I already have the AM8 in my Amazon cart!
Love this!
It's good, but I'll stay with my SM7B. I'd like to see how it sounds after processing.
I'll take Shure mics all day long. Also please use a shock mount to avoid the sound of your hands moving on the mic/stands.
These don’t come with shock mounts and can be what you get when you purchase them. I could put them on a boom arm, but same goes as that isn’t an expense that’s included.
the square shape is a very strange choice, considering how much handling noise there is and that it doesn't come with a spider.
18:09 the SM7B works pretty good on his voice
Feduchi USB sound is quite poor. When in was plugged via XLR it sounds much more better
I like your vibe! Thanks for the review!
Honestly, I don’t mind that sound at all. For the price and my use case, it’s worth it for the price I think.

@@DarkenedCyrus I am tho
When you're a professional mix engineer, trust me, you hear the difference.
I will add that at least 50% of the time, viewers aren’t going to be paying 100% attention. They’re doing chores, errands, driving, eating, exercising/working out, working, in a noisy environment, etc. I am almost never in a quiet or non-busy environment aside from gaming or watching something in my room.
Thank you for your suggestion and I think this product is really a good choice
It really is!
I agree that the K688 had the most balanced sound imho, even better than the SM7B. The cheaper options had overblown bass that would need to be corrected.
Sucks that the XLR power alone does not provide power for the rgb lights or mute button function.
Hey nice video and a ton of content.
Would love to get some time stamps though to get some quick reference comparisons.
Thanks for taking the time to put this one together.
Noted!
Practice care and don’t pull it around by the microphone, but the arm itself and you shouldn’t have any issues (I have multiple streams on Twitch you can reference with the mic)
As for vocals, it will perform great if you like the initial sound.
@@DarkenedCyrus Hey just kidding ! I agree the Fifine sounds good. SM7B still sounds better and looks better.

shure sm7b is 400 dollars for a reason 50 dollar mics can't replace those but your budget is everything so that will dictate what you are able to spend.
Subscribed within the first few seconds because of the mr krabs meme🤣
lol! Love it
Great review! I have a question tho, lets say i can buy the k688 12 bucks cheaper, is there a siginificant advantage that the am8 offers? Or should i just go with the k688? And does the shock mount actually works? Thanks in advance!!
K688 all the way
😎Depends on your usage.
Would you choose this one over any other fifine/maono? Im doing research to help me decide which one should i get
I’m still going K688 all day
I'm considering purchasing one of these microphones, but now I'm confused about which one to buy. Please help me decide:
1. Shure SM57 Dynamic Instrument Microphone
2. RØDE PodMic USB Versatile Dynamic Broadcast Microphone With XLR and USB Connectivity for Podcasting, Streaming, Gaming, Music-Making, and Content Creation
3. Elgato Wave DX - Dynamic XLR Microphone, Cardioid Pattern, Noise Rejection, Speech optimized for Podcasting, Streaming, Broadcasting, No Signal Booster Required, Works with Any Interface, for Mac, PC
4. FIFINE XLR Dynamic Microphone, Vocal Podcast Microphone with Cardioid Pattern, Studio Metal Mic for Streaming Voice-Over Dubbing Video Recording, Black-K669D
5. Rode PodMic Cardioid Dynamic Broadcast Microphone, Black
Are these dynamic? I have a condenser mic as a streamer and pics up WAY too much high pitch when I yell / scream... What mic would you recommend for a screamer streamer? Also, Boom arm should help with handling noise? Nice video, thanks for the info
Yes they are!
For speaking voice i do not see a huge difference but i know once you start adding some efx shure will come up on top!
For creators and gamers, I agree that this cost is totally overkill for it just to be compressed online unless you are using it for other things
would the K688 work if I use a USB C to USB C cable to connect it directly to my Mac? sorry for this stupid question but it would be my first mic :P
also, what's the link for that stand you used with it? thank you!
Replied to you on the other video. Yes, works great on my M1 Mac Air
Yes, the official USB cable from the Apple store is recommended because apple mobiles have a slightly different protocol。
@@DarkenedCyrus ooo I didn’t try Nvidia I have a yeti nano which is a condensor. I actually ordered the feduce from another of your vids today! Thanks for getting back to me
Do you use a program for your mic to make it sound I guess clearer/better? And if you do what is the program?
So I am looking at the Audio Technica AT2020USB mic from the reviews people seem to like it more than the Blue Yeti. Would you recommend the Fifine AM8 higher than a Yeti? If so, would you take the old Technica mic or the new Fifine?
I’m going am8 over all of those options
Hey, im sorry this isnt anything related to any microphones that youve shown in the video but a microhone from Fifine called Fifine K683B. So ive been wanting to know if thats a good microphone for recording a food ASMR video. Ive been checking many reviews but still wasnt sure if i should get that. I didnt want to spend a lot now since i have a tight budget and thats when i came across that mic. So what do you think about that? Would that be a good mic? To make things simple, what ill be recording is me reviewing a food by sitting in the frame. It would be a great help to me if you could suggest me about that mic, thankyou :)
Which one is in this price range is good for not picking up loud keyboards?
I think the am8 is way better than the k688. I will get an am8 and later on getting a podmic cause i like thatone too. What are your thoughts on it,
Go with your gut on this one! Both are very similar
Hey what’s the stand for that mic called the little desk stand one! It’s perfect for my setup and seems versatile. Also amazing video, I love when creators use previous products from past experiences/videos IN REVIEW VIDEOS not just mentioning that they exist. Feels much more professional
Thanks for the comment and the love! Here’s that stand: amzn.to/3NQQPSj
Do I need to have an XLR to use the AM8 or can I just use the USB option and no don't worry about it.
XLR isn’t required!
Amazing Video
Can you tell me which one would be better to record loud string instruments
Am8 or k658?
I'm not 100% certain that its not just my headphones, but I could hear some very faint interference noise during all XLR mic testing in this video. I only noticed because when you switched to USB on the mics that support it, the interference noise was noticeably absent. Might be something wrong with your interface? Not totally sure but I figured I would mention it. Great video though!
Bro I've been watching reviews for xlr mics for hours and yours was so funny and straight to the point, subscribed
Love this comment!
Loved all of the mics!!!
@@DarkenedCyrus how much value is there in a plastic mic though?
I agree but it ain’t a bad mic. The fifine t669 is far better for the money and it comes with more for the money.
Do you think the AM8 would work well for UA-cam audio and Voice overs?
100%. I know several creators that main using it
@@DarkenedCyrus I have a small channel, but I want to increase my content quality. Your video was very helpful, and I appreciate your feedback! I’m looking into getting this AM8.
what do you think would be better for streaming the fifine AM8 or the Fifine K688 they both sound good, and im in a relativly noise area and I cant decide what to choose?
I prefer the K688
Question; What’s the best sounding mic for podcasting and interviews without buying a shure mic which is better ?
fifne k688 would be your best option, you can get about 4 k688s for 1 Shure sm7b and they practically sound the same lol.
A Shure 58 is also a great option, much more affordable!
Could have bought a mirrorless camera and a microphone with that…
No kidding man... like someone is gonna make em give up their mic or something..
I honestly dont understand what im doing wrong. I plug in my AM8 and it doesnt sound as good as yours. Im going to go crazyyy with these settings😭😭😭😭
Weird. How close is the mic?
@@DarkenedCyrus about 4 to 5 inches away. I checked the cables and everything. This is the 2nd AM8 i've tried. I returned the first one because i thought it was faulty. Now the 2nd one is the same😔
How about Maono PD200X?
Interesting. Will need to look into it. I have reviewed the pd400x and have a couple of videos on it you can check out
@@DarkenedCyrus I have reviewed PD400X,But the price of the PD200X is even more attractive。Looking forward to review Maono PD200X
