Hey, which one is better am8 or pd200x in usb mode for normal youtube videos when my mouth will be 4-6inches away from the mic and for some casual occasional singing? Which has better noise cancellation? And if i can EQ the sharpness of the pd200x to lower it? Why I'm confused? Am8 sounds flat and muddy at times, but pd200x has a very nasally voice and the highs are very sharp too Your voice seems to be quiet deep, mine is normal, with a lil inclination towards deep, so now which would be better for me?
To be honest, out of box they box sound very similar to me. If I were to choose though, I would probably go with the AM8 since I think it has slightly better build quality. (The pop filter on my PD200x broke while filming)
Not a feature, but any cardioid mic rejects the sound from the back of the mic a little bit. But if you want to look for something that once it's turned on then there's not single bit of noise will be heard, then you may need to look for something like the RTX voice.
I’m really close to getting this but I’ve been seeing a bunch of people saying, 1, it’s too quiet no matter how many settings they change, and 2: the usb c cable doesn’t work properly and they ultimately have to get a usb 3.0 cable which is more money spent. Have you had any one of these issues during the time you had the am8? If so, how can u fix? Also on another note how long did the am8 last for you? Are you having any issues yet or is it still functioning well because I’ve also heard many that had it for a day to about a few months until it started malfunctioning. Sorry for the yapping I just really need to know before I spend hard earned money.
No problems man, you’re not yapping. The AM8 is still used everyday on my wife’s PC setup. We haven’t had any issues using the provided USB C cable. I also have had issues with the input of the unit. It’s been very reliable for us so far
Actually, the K688 does better than the AM8 when it comes to suppressing handling noise and vibration. But K669D is still the best in handling the rumbling bass frequencies that are caused by vibration among these three because of its small form factor plus a quite solid build.
That’s a good question. I think you can but varies setup to setup. Using XLR and plugging in the usb c at the same time could add electrical noise into the feed
@TheRageAcademy lol no worries. Good mix for the price. Fairly hard to beat bang for buck. You can actually get mic, mixer and boom arm normally between 90-110
I'd probably go AM8. I haven't tried the Q2U but it looks like a snowball directional mic. Which isn't horrible but if it's a SM58 clone (which it looks like) then the microphone has to be pretty close to your face to get a decent sound
hello in the video you talked about the opportunity to connect headphones to the microphone so you can hear your own voice in the headphones in real time. In addition to your own voice in the headphones you can also hear the audio of the video games/music I'm playing or just the mic audio?
Getting my AM8 tomorrow, was using a tbone sc450 for years but it was giving up the last days, should be fine for discord Edit: just hope the arm is gonna do it's job, thanks for the great video
Check your windows microphone settings. Type “sound settings” into windows search. Then at the bottom under “advanced”, click “more sound settings”. This will pull up a white box window Click the “recording” tab at the top. Right click on the Fifine am8 microphone. Click “properties”. This will bring up a new window. Click the “levels” tab. Not a feature, but any cardioid mic rejects the sound from the back of the mic a little bit. But if you want to look for something that once it's turned on then there's not single bit of noise will be heard, then you may need to look for something like the RTX voice.
@FIFINE thx for the advice
This and the K699d are incredibly impressive. I'm considering the K688 but I feel the body of it is too resonant
I’m actually working on a review for the k688 right now
@@TheRageAcademy great! Looking forward to it!
Actually, the K688 does better than the AM8 when it comes to suppressing handling noise and vibration. But K669D is still the best in handling the rumbling bass frequencies that are caused by vibration among these three because of its small form factor plus a quite solid build.
SOLD!
what software are you using when you were doing the comparison between the sm7b and am8
Adobe Premiere for Denoise - Eq - & Hard limiter
helloo, mind sharing your am8 eq settings?
I boost around 125hz, scoop around 1-2khz, and bump around 8-10khz.
Hope this helps!
Hello, where can i find these effects for the am8??
All the effects used were stock in adobe premiere
What software are you using to record your UA-cam or whatever you do I have thy mic FIFINE XLR/USBAM8 Plus I have Focusrite Vocaster Two
I just record straight into adobe premiere via the usb output
Will the Fifine microphone make your voice sound louder if you're speaking quietly?
Nah, that’s never a microphone that does that. It’s usually what’s called a compressor. It makes your loud volumes and quiet volumes the same
It's better to take a look at some condenser mics in your case.
Xlr mode u can still plug in usbc and get lights and buttons
That’s a good question. I think you can but varies setup to setup. Using XLR and plugging in the usb c at the same time could add electrical noise into the feed
@TheRageAcademy i use this set up with zero noise
@TheRageAcademy i was making a statement lol, letting you know that you can do this as thats how my set up is on this mic.
Ahhh, I see. Dyslexia kicked in and I switched the “u can” to “can u” lol.
Thanks for the insight man
@TheRageAcademy lol no worries. Good mix for the price. Fairly hard to beat bang for buck. You can actually get mic, mixer and boom arm normally between 90-110
This or Samson Q2U?
I'd probably go AM8. I haven't tried the Q2U but it looks like a snowball directional mic. Which isn't horrible but if it's a SM58 clone (which it looks like) then the microphone has to be pretty close to your face to get a decent sound
I got it wrong, so i did like the video
But you won't fool me again 💪
hello in the video you talked about the opportunity to connect headphones to the microphone so you can hear your own voice in the headphones in real time. In addition to your own voice in the headphones you can also hear the audio of the video games/music I'm playing or just the mic audio?
You can, but the ratio isn’t adjustable.
@@djtoman6875 ok thanks. Is the volume of the sidetone high at least? I have a similar mic and the sidetone volume is so low
@@scumaa4576 I'm not sure what you mean by sidetone.
@@djtoman6875 the volume of your own voice that you hear in your headset
@@djtoman6875they mean the volume of you hearing yourself through the mic in your headphones
Sounds like them threads might need some teflon tape, just an old oilfield hand speaking from experience
This is a great idea! Thank you!!
No problem, but it might be a pain to remove the screws, just a warning
Is it just me or do I hear big ballers vr music
fine fine ?
Getting my AM8 tomorrow, was using a tbone sc450 for years but it was giving up the last days, should be fine for discord
Edit: just hope the arm is gonna do it's job, thanks for the great video
My pleasure man
I'm still liking the video even though I got it right :)
Did you get them all right?
@@TheRageAcademy ummmmm... no just the one you said to like the video with XD
why mine sounds so quiet. I have it on 100% both knob and sound setting but still so low. is it normal?
Check your windows microphone settings.
Type “sound settings” into windows search. Then at the bottom under “advanced”, click “more sound settings”.
This will pull up a white box window
Click the “recording” tab at the top.
Right click on the Fifine am8 microphone. Click “properties”. This will bring up a new window.
Click the “levels” tab. Make sure the volume is at 100%
This may help
@@TheRageAcademy i did what you said but still its just so quiet i need to get close like 1 inch from the mic just to sound like yours.
@@wanho1953 hmmm… Hop into my discord. I won’t be able to help out in depth until I’m out of work, but I’ll do my best to help you solve it
@@TheRageAcademy okay
I recently bought the blue yeti and I am playing on a PS five but I have a ton of background noise and no way to adjust it besides the gain knob witch is already at lowest setting does the AM8 Work well with the PS five in that regard
Daddy please teach me to EQ.
What would you like to know, son?
@@TheRageAcademy how to eq this am8 and speakers “in general” ❤️
You keep saying finefine when its Fi fine.
Even though it’s written Fifine, it is pronounced “fine fine”. They wrote me in an email to let me know
@@TheRageAcademy okay cool. You're the only one doing it though. And I heard a few different pronunciations of it. Everything from fee fine to fi fine to fuh fine.
@truthwinseverytime8805 lol, it’s definitely “fine fine”
No one else read the email fifine sent I guess. Ive seen other reviewers start off saying “fine fine” then change to “fah fine” half way through
Fifine and not FineFine 😂
It’s the way the company asked to pronounce it 🤷🏻♂️
It is really finefine 😅
@@TheRageAcademy then you spoke to a dork at the company.
