  • I might have compressed the video a little too much, sorry the quality isn't the best. Plus we did it as the sun was going down so the lighting was pretty minimal. Anyway, I didn't want to spend an entire day re-uploading it again.
    Here's my interview with Anthony Notarmaso from After The Burial! We talk about the death of Justin, their guitarist, the impact it had on the band, the new album that they have completely finished, why the band has remastered so many songs with Anthony doing vocals, and much more!

    To address a few things: Anthony and I talked for 15 minutes before the interview started while I set everything up. I ran the questions by him ahead of time so he knew I was going to ask about Justin. As I was setting up, he talked about Justin's death in more detail than he was willing to talk about on camera. When the interview started, I knew Anthony was going to give a vague answer to protect Justin and his family's privacy because that's exactly what he told me he was going to do. I agree that I could have asked the question more tactfully, but by the time the interview started, asking about Justin was more of a formality since we had already discussed it and both knew how the question/response would go. I also just want to say that Anthony and I were joking about the cold weather and some other band stories to lighten the mood before recording which is why my demeanor isn't as somber as it should have been. Of all my interviews, this is the one I wish I could change the most. Anthony is a great guy and I had the chance to interview him again a few years later - his wife and daughter sat across from us in the tour bus and watched which was pretty cool. +Scarlet Morbidity Anthony and I had already been talking about it for 15 minutes before the interview happened so it wasn't like me and him were just jumping into it. Also it's what people care most about. Read some of my other replies to people for more details if you're interested.

      you could've maybe said something like 'sorry for your loss" at least? it doesn't matter what you guys talked about off camera, you seemed extremely rude in this interview. you can't just bring up something as serious as that just because 'its what people care about most' show some empathy dude

      1. I was stoked to be talking to a member of one of my favorite bands
      2. Anthony and I had been talking for 20 minutes before the interview and were joking around about how cold it was and band stories while I set everything up.
      3. Anthony knew I was going to ask about Justin and we had already talked about it (in way more detail than he was willing to talk about on camera) for like 10 minutes so by the time the interview started asking about Justin was more of a formality. I knew he'd give a vague answer to protect Justin and his family's privacy so I just wanted to get that out of the way to start on the real questions. Because of this I was not as somber as I should have been when addressing the topic. That's all there is to it.

    2021 here. I am totally fine with 8 song albums as long as it's that good ole ATB effort. That great smelling spirit when you hear it lol. I wouldn't ever stress getting 10 or more songs on an album. Just do 8 great solid songs that you want to hear and your name is attached to it. And its all songs that are fun for you to play, fun to hear, and fun to perform. You're not going to strike good 8 times in a row every album. Just put your best in every single song and you never know. Sometimes it's a song that was just for fun, it's fun to play and the least amount of effort went into it. Im not saying it can be an easy song. Your talent needs to leak into it. But you would be suprised Sometimes on what good can come out of a random group of talented musicians .

    Good interview, but I suggest you at least pick up a cheap $40 cardioid mic instead of holding a lavalier. I've watched so many interviews where a handheld lavalier is used and it makes 0 sense and looks unprofessional. I'm not calling your interview lame and I really try not to attack people on UA-cam, so instead I will just strongly suggest you come with a cardioid next time. Might help with the wind noise too, especially if you add a $4 windscreen. The only thing better would be to have two lavaliers on both participants so we don't even see evidence of micing at all.
    I won't try to understand your particular circumstances, so I'm trying not to attack you. However, to ask such strong questions especially at the beginning, audio quality really has to be a high priority and will up your view count.

    • @PecksMetalPicks
      @PecksMetalPicks  8 років тому +3

      +Sandhills Videography I agree with you. However, I use a GPro Hero4 Silver for all of my filming and there are very few microphones that are compatible with it. I'd love to get a super good microphone for all this stuff but it is actually impossible because they simply do not work with the GoPro. Most of the time me and the people I interview just laugh about it while I set up so it's sort of an icebreaker haha. thanks for the input though, maybe one day more compatible ones will become available

    • @KingChevy7
      @KingChevy7 8 років тому +2

      +Andrew Pecoraro (PecksMetalPicks) Wouldn't the obvious answer be not to use the equipment that's limiting you? Don't use the gopro if it obviously has major flaws in what you're trying to use it for.

    • @PecksMetalPicks
      @PecksMetalPicks  8 років тому +5

      +KingChevy7 The GoPro is awesome though. The quality, ease of use, size, and everything else is great. Especially for $400. I don't know if you follow me on Instagram / Twitter or if this is your first time being exposed to me but I'd like to think my followers know that I put a lot of effort into everything I share on social media. With that being said, I don't make money from any of this and I can't justify spending $1000+ on equipment. Who knows, maybe some day it will happen, but as a 21 year old who's doing this purely out of enjoyment I'm pretty happy with how it's going so far.

    • @KingChevy7
      @KingChevy7 8 років тому +1

      +Andrew Pecoraro (PecksMetalPicks) I don't see where I said buy thousand dollar equipment. But for the sake of making a vast improvement in the area you have a clear lack in, I would "downgrade" your camera to allow you to actually use proper equipment.

    • @PecksMetalPicks
      @PecksMetalPicks  8 років тому +2

      +KingChevy7 Look bud, if the type of microphone I use is my biggest problem then life is pretty good. It was super windy and cold that day and the audio still turned out great if you ask me. Either way, like I explained to the other guy, I would like to use a different mic but it is not possible right now. I'm not looking to argue with you about this. The people I interview don't mind (some even seem to enjoy the comedic value of it) and they are the only people who's opinions I would concern myself with.

    Why the fuck would you think it’s appropriate to kick the interview off with a question like that. even they way it was asked was super disrespectful, you can see immediately how uncomfortable it made Anthony feel, still grieving while still making his tour commitments, inappropriate to even ask to interview him, he would’ve only agreed to talk just because he’s a really nice dude, and does it for the fans.

    Is there anyone else here that has followed this band since the get go and is wondering WHY they are interviewing Anthony instead of one of the original members? Plus, I love how discreet he is when he COMPLETELY dodges the question about Justin Lowe's death... Sorry if I'm stepping on anyone's toes, but I can smell bullshit a mile away. Just look at him fuckin with his zipper as soon as he's asked about it. The way he stutters.... I don't know.. I've met Justin Lowe and talked with him at a show. He did NOT suffer from any "mental illness" or depression, and I know people who have, and currently do. I can tell the difference...

    • @PecksMetalPicks
      @PecksMetalPicks  8 років тому +3

      +Euphoric Gaming I interviewed Anthony because he is the vocalist and it is easier to ask detailed questions when you're only talking to one person. Plus it makes it seem more like a back and forth conversation than a strict interview which is more fun for me. I had the option to interview them all if I wanted to.
      ANYWAY, the reason I give Anthony a free pass on his vague response is because we talked for 15 minutes about Justin's death before the interview started. During that time we talked about stuff I'm pretty sure he won't officially say on camera. I mean he didn't tell me some huge secret (because there isn't one) but just some general stuff that they don't want to talk about out of respect for Justin and his family. So after we talked for real for those 15 minutes I asked if he was ready to start recording and he said yeah but that he was going to keep his answer short and vague OUT OF RESPECT FOR JUSTIN'S FAMILY. Obviously I agreed. That's why it seems like I give him a "free pass". Because I already knew exactly what his "official" answer for the camera was going to be and all of my personal questions I had had been answered in those 15 minutes.
      You did not know Justin Lowe and neither did I. If you think you can say he didn't have a mental illness based off what you've seen on your computer screen then you're delusional. When I was talking to Anthony before the interview started I can tell you for certain that Justin's death had caused him a deep sadness. Whether you see that it the video or not doesn't matter. Anthony lost one of his best friends for reasons nobody can understand and he was extremely sad about it.

    • @EuphoricGamingOfficial
      @EuphoricGamingOfficial 8 років тому +1

      I understand. And I completely understand not wanting to offend the family. It's just that I've talked with Justin before, and he seemed to be completely down to earth and level-headed. I've also known and talked to people who have been depressed, suffered from autism, and who have even committed suicide, recently after I talked to them. I just think the subject of Justin's passing is taken far too lightly, and basically not even acknowledged...
      I wonder what his family has to say about all of it. They would know him the best....

    And nobody knows another person's battles and what they are dealing with. I wish more people dealing with it would say something or find help. And thats coming from me who has dealt with multiple suicides in my family
