Not the biggest fan of their stuff after Rareform, but this album is a Metalcore masterclass. Berzerker still kicks my arse every time i hear it.

I've been front row for three of their shows and I haven't caught a single mistake when they play live. I'm sure there are some here and there but they are insanely tight.
Brother. You have GOT to hear "berserker" from this album if you haven't. It's one of their most absolutely insane songs. It's amazing.
Honestly their whole Justin Lowe discography is Unskippable. Gone way too soon but cemented his legacy in Metal history! Bands today still try and emulate their soundscapes.

The First EP from the band Born of Osiris called The New Reign was written entirely by the Drummer Cameron Losch from the ages of 14-16, recommended song: Abstract Art
I did not know that, and I love that album and song!
He also wrote all of a higher place minus exist.

I've heard that and I'm not stupid enough to believe that. Losch has been a drug addict essentially his entire adult life and probably before. He's a pathological liar and the entire reason Jason Richardson left the band. Losch is defined by his poor live performances due to drug problems, his heavily narcissistic behavior, and a willingness to lie even when it's obvious and easy to prove he's lying.
Richardson also has alluded that he basically wrote the entirety of the discovery while the other members were drugged out of their minds.
Nothing losch says is to be believed
It goes without saying, but their song Lost in the Static is another banger
Also goes without saying that all of their material before that album is way way way better.

Yes yes yes! Absolutely killing it with the choices lately. This is one of the coolest song intros I’ve ever heard between the riff and that main lick. So happy to see you looking at this one.
A cool thing about that intro is its actually the same lead riff being played over the rhythm at 00:48 into the song, only played backwards.
this ep / album got me into djent . I already knew meshuggah but this was the the album that got me into the genre as a whole . RIP Justin

That ending Pennyweight breakdown is still one of the heaviest things I have ever heard.
The band's second full length, "Rareform" [2008]: This is a re-release (re-recorded) album with current vocalist Anthony. All songs performed on 8-string guitars. This track is fairly straightforward, accessible and showcases the core elements of the band. My absolute favorite track from this album is "Ometh". Still here, keep it up great moves!

The one I would highly recommend is Collapse.
That whole album is one of my all time top albums.
Also fun fact- this album originally came out with programmed drums, this is off the re-release that was re-recorded with their real drummer. Unreal.
One of my favorite bands. Cant go wrong with any of their material. I highly recommend you listen to some more by them!

Not a huge fan of their latest albums, but Rareform has been one of my main entry to more extreme subgenres of metal when I was a teenager. Great album with plenty of technicality.
Last two albums have been insanely top-heavy. I go back to 2 or 3 songs on each but not really any more than that.
They're not the same at all after Justins death.
Dig deep is phenomenal it took me awhile to like it as much as I currently do but Laurentian Ghosts is a masterpiece
RE morse code coded into kick, they actually did a song "Pi" and coded the mathematical constant pi to 71 decimal points into the drum pattern.

There was a video of my 2 year old nephew floating around for a while where he's jamming out to their song "to carry you away" and when my brother went to see them they recognized him from the video and signed the tour poster as a gift to my nephew. OMG this used to be one of my favs, brings back memories of protecting the girlfriend from getting crushed into the fence being front row seeing this guys, Born of Osiris(with Tosen Abasi in pink short shorts at the time!) etc. Good times!

I knew you'd have a fun time with this one. Fun fact about the drums: they are programmed! Justin Lowe (the rhythm guitarist, RIP) programmed them. This is the re-recorded version with their current vocalist. The first version of the album has the tan colored cover, and you can really tell there. But the green cover holds up to albums produced 15 years later, which is a lifetime for heavy music and modern production technique.

Ometh would be an amazing follow up to this, it's heavy as all hell yet has a passionate and happy feeling badass solo to close out on. Always leaves a huge smile on my face when it closes out.

Good afternoon from New England my man...Wow that opening was nuts..I totally dig that the drummer was keeping time with his left foot on the hihats...Thx for bringing it up... Which I do too when I play..my left foot NEVER stops moving and counting..And the ride work going into the middle of the song was killer...And that guitar line really reminds me of Piggy from Viovod..The vocals are what makes or breaks this type of music for me but this is right up my alley..2008 you say..Huh...way cool... My home state band. I followed them around the local venues before they were signed-a big staple of me and my friend's young adult memories. Side note the vocalist came in after this album was written and re-recorded the vocal tracks after the band's 2nd vocalist had a falling out. Makes this album that much more impressive.
My all time most respected band, they're incredible. Heard them live at summer slaughter tour in 2009 live and didn't know who they were, but my God what a beautiful thing

I'm gonna add a vote for the track 'The Fractal Effect' from this same album, to me it has a bit of absolutely everything that made this album iconic at the time and to this day. I'm another one that isn't so into their later stuff but I will say, there's a song on a later album called Nine Summers that has just the most sublime guitar solo I've ever heard in modern metal, not in technicality or shredding but pure emotion and delivery. Honestly I could take or leave most of the rest of the song but that solo is just something else.
I'm still here!!!! Love it. It's so awesome to see people bob and enjoy them on their first listen. I recommend "Laurentian Ghosts" off of the album Dig Deep. I think it's their best song and it's my favorite song of all time. I have the album tattooed on me. It has everything that makes them, them. Also, one of the guitarist, Justin Lowe, passed away in 2015 due to suicide. Him and Trent were the best duo of all time in my opinion. Have a great day Geebz.

absolutely love this album. this was the first song i ever heard by ATB back in 09 or so. i think you perfectly described why i was (and still am) grabbed by this track. crushingly heavy and raw power from beginning to end.
Been waiting for you to do some ATB. That ending breakdown still might be one of the nastiest things I've ever heard.

I saw them live yesterday and they were absolutely incredible
The lyrics of this song are pretty interesting, Akhenaten was basically removed from history by his successors for instating a single deity worship system and this song is a twisted take on Ra resurrecting him and razing the earth and its people for not worshipping only him. Pretty cool stuff from an OG crew
This whole album is a masterpiece, Ometh and A Vicious Rareforming of Features are my favorites fron that album

After the burial is a band you definitely have to come back to, so unique with what they do. Each track is great is their own way but if you want to go to their roots, “A Steady Decline” blows my mind every time

8:13 i just did that, i did "Hail Satan ! e" and i had to add the spaces and e to make it a 4 bar loop. for dots it was just a 16th note, but a dash was a 16th note 16th rest, and in between letters and spaces were an 8th rest. it sounds pretty good actually, especially with a china on every quarter note with an accent crash on beat 3 of each bar.

Ometh off of the same album is a fun listen. It's in a major key so it feels as uplifting as it is brutal.
It's an odd thing; life. How some choose to cement themselves into one perspective throughout it.
If you conquer what you don't understand, you begin to live life. IMO
It all starts with becoming masterful at one thing. Surpassing above average levels and discovering anything is possible once you do.
The craving to learn becomes ravenous! Life at this point is never dull, because every moment presents a new opportunity...as long as you look for it.

I'd like to request another Plini track. "Perfume" is, in my opinion his best work. Simply iconic. Modern jazz guitar with really cool rhythmic drum work and just this insane atmosphere to it. You'll love it

Hey man, this year After the Burial released just the instrumental version of their 2016 CD "Dig Deep". Should give a listen, production is FANTASTIC and you pick alot of tricks and sounds that are washed out by the vocals.
