I'll be honest, I never thought of having the keys on my nightstand to trigger the alarm. That is really top notch. Also, our room is on the 2nd floor and we've lived through a fire. The bandana does make a difference, even if it isnt wet.

  • @beardeddragon2624

Remember to wet the bandana to help filter the smoke, keep a bottle of water near it.

The most dangerous part of my day is when my wife asks if her outfit looks Ok......I have a tactical nightstand....glass of water in the draw so cats don’t drink from it.....Apple Watch on charge so it is ready to tell me how far I walk the next day....decorative lamp that I never use and the cats knock over....

To bad in nj we don’t have a self defense law here so it’s doesn’t matter if our lives were in danger. If we kill or fight back we’ll still do time

I have a NIJ IIIA - but it all depends on what level of threaths you can anticipate if SHTF
If I was living in the US, I would possibly be considering going for NIJ IV
And of course, it's also worthy to take into consideration if you need to conceal you're wearing one!
I can carry mine under my clothes, but I do have a plate-carrier, (just currently, I only have plates for cross-fit), so if I buy a couple of cheap ICW NIJ IV plates for it, I can easily reach NIJ IV - but I will also stand out in public...
But yeah, like everything else, go through various scenarios you feel you can anticipate having to use your equipment in, but keep it realistic!
If you need to go "Grey-Man", it's no use running around with a Plate-Carrier and a ballistic helmet!

Our "paranoia" is what freed us from the oppressive ruling of YOUR government in the past.
And as long as we are calling names....
Why don't you pussies stand up for yourselves?
Oh yeah, you can't because you have already given up your rights...
Guess we'll have to bail you out again (cough, both World Wars, cough) 😎

I wouldn't forget about my water shoes. I mean they are technically shoes right? Also water shoes are good when you need to do body-weight exercises and barefoot running.

For the gun? Bio-metric hand gun safe...check some of those out. Night stand for kids just tone it down based on age and maturity level.

      My Self
Well, if they can fit in the nightstand, it's probably okay - but else, I would suggest putting them in a room on their own!
Tactical use of kids is limited to lengthy divorces - not suited for quick emergencies....

5.11 doesn’t realize how little of their gear is actually used in combat operations. Maybe a pouch here or there on the random Infantryman or Ranger, but there is far better and far more American made kit being used on a daily basis by warfighters. Well that’s 2 deployments worth of observations and 8 years in the infantry on my part.
In reality civilians, POGs, and CrossFit junkies are the ones buying 5.11 because they don’t know any better. Or maybe they can’t afford the good stuff, then in that case I can’t judge too much.

We have real military special operators, law enforcement, and first responders on-site when we design our gear. Nothing is made without the explicit advisement of the community that uses them, and we have staff whose sole job it is to put our gear into the hands of those who use them for live combat operations both domestically and abroad. Stating that we don't realize who is and isn't using our products is objectively false and misinformed.
And yes, civilians, fitness enthusiasts, and many different people from a variety of backgrounds use our gear. We don't serve just one community, we welcome anyone and everyone to use our gear and we support those who find new and innovative ways to use our products.

Do you think fire fighters are literally awake and alert 24/7? Who do you think is ready at 2am to be geared up in a rig and search a strangers house or deploying hose line in a matter of minutes? People who were DEAD ASLEEP
