@@goosesatan unlike homes, cars are broken into at night generally rather than the day. Think about it: The average thief who only wants stuff does NOT want to encounter a person regardless of their age, size, or gender. They just want to get in and get out and have fun with their new stolen goods or the money they make from them. So for a house, daytime is the best time to break in as most people will be at work. For cars though, you wouldn't want to break into one during the day, as the owner could come back to that car at any moment since most humans are active and awake and driving to and from places during the daytime. At night though, it's more likely the owner is asleep inside their house not even thinking about their vehicle.
Tip #6 (Talking to the neighbors) is good advice if you live in a good neighborhood. In a bad neighborhood, your neighbors will be the ones breaking into your house.
Lmfao. This is so accurate. I lived in a terrible neighborhood. Think, no pizza delivery after dark. Lol my neighbor on the left once called me to let me know my neighbor from my right was trying to get into my window. 😭😆 I was a broke single mom at the time. idk what he was even trying to take.
@@BeefNEggs057 I think the point was most theifs don't want to break into a house with kids or may not even have any intention of possibly harming a child. Of course, not all criminals think like that, of course.
houses with kids inside could have kids wandering around at night or they could wake up and scream to sound the alarm. Basically meaning more people to raise the alarm that someone is there, and you don’t know that everyone is going to be in their bedrooms. Makes it a riskier choice than say a couple who would be in the same room.
Quick summary 1 - Make it look like someone is home 2 - Make your life seem unpredicatable (fake dog signs, children toys, etc) 3 & 4 - Pretend to or actually have a security system 5 - Strategically place the cameras (be mindful of sun directly shining) 6 - Establish trustful relationships with neighbors (they can give heads-ups) 7 & 8 - LOCK the garage door and secure the locking cable (they can typically unlock with a hanger) 9 - Get a solid door 10 & 11 - Replace door screws with long screws (prevents getting kicked down) 12 - Install a protective window film 13 - Defensive plan (rally point locations, routes, and communication) 14 - Have flashlight, weapon (sprays count), car alarm, and charged cell on your nightstand 15 - Fight for your life, have no mercy 16 - Keep distance from the attacker

Someone tried to break into my house once when I was out. I arrived home to a crime scene. Backdoor wide open, blood in the kitchen and backyard all the way to the neighbors fence. Whoever it was had luck on their side because they didn't know who was chilling in my house. And that was my buddy Ceallach my Rottweiler. He has passed on now I still miss him..

Because at night typically you are home, mostly sleeping or relaxing. If they come at night, yes it conceals them, but it also alerts the homeowner, which means they are willing to confront and possibly get violent with the homeowner.
I happened to be in the bathroom when my house got broken into one night, remember the back of the toilet seat is a weapon on its own if you find yourself in the bathroom too
This RIGHT here is why I always grab a spare handgun into the bathroom with me on the days when my concealed carry is off my side. People have laughed at me when they see me walking out of the bathroom with a handgun, but whether showering, shitting, or shaving, I'll have the last laugh if somebody *did* try anything.
Our apartment got broken into during the day, my dad was the only one home but he was asleep just coming back from work. Luckily they didn't harm him but they did steal our ps3 and wiiU
Toilet seat is to big and if you miscalculate the blow they could harm you if they are trained use a tactical pen, jacknife, axe ,or hatchet I use a hatchet cause I love throwing them if anyone tries to break into my house heads gonn roll
In my experience, if you know your older/retired neighbors, you probably already have better security than most people. Case in point: my family went camping and gave a friend a key to take care of our pets and our neighbor called the cops on him
Those are great neighbours, God bless them. My parents retired neighbours watched a whole robbery unfold, described the whole event to the police : sketchy van, 3 hooded guys with sacks and timing... But didn't call the police 🙄😒
@@dah8789 Now, it was decades ago when things were different, but my grand parents watched a box truck pull up several houses down the street. Guys went in and emptied the house. @@BryanTorok Someone said to do it bold enough and no one will notice you, there was one airbnb place that robbers emptied totally, and none even renters next door couldn't give any description because they didn't look, even the eyewitness talked to one of the robbers. Same goes to everyone, can you describe the woman who walked past you one before the last person walked past you, I'm fairly certain that answer is no. It's not because you didn't look or pay attention, it is because your brain desided to delete the whole scene as obsolent, you might remember something you paid attention to, or your brain could make a memory for you.
I am from and live in a country where, according to law, if your level of violence (this includes tipe of weapon) is higher than the criminal's, you are going to go to prison.
I live in an apartment and one night I heard someone fiddling with the doorknob of the front door. I got up, checked out the door, and hit it as hard as possible. I heard the dude fall down the stairs and book it out of there
Tip: My mom is a retired herpetologist (the study of snakes and reptiles) and she did deadly snake removal from people's homes for many years. Her vehicle had to have a sign on the back, warning people that there are potentially life threatening animals in her vehicle. The sign on the back and sides said: "Danger: Poisonous snakes on board" and to stay within a certain distance from the vehicle. I've never seen so many people avoid a vehicle as much as hers. They would sometimes run from it if they caught a glance of the sign. I highly suggest putting a sign like this on your vehicle or somewhere on your home to keep people away. I promise, the thought of snakes and death is the perfect mix of fear.
Great idea. They can be aggressive with the owners too though. Especially kids. I'm not sure if you can train that out of geese but I know from personal experience that they can be quite aggressive.
This video saved my life recently during a home invasion. Fight back no matter what because your life depends on it & an exit strategy to create distance. That’s what I remember myself saying inside my head over & over. Thank you for sharing this.
nah, i just stand at my window for 3 hours, completely naked, not moving, just staring. aint nobody gunna rob me if they think theres a nut job in the house #lifehack
Ways to keep out intruders: -put ornaments under your windows -put ice on your outdoor stairs -Tar on your basement stairs -Open nails on your basement stairs -Heat your door handle up really hot -drop paint cans from your stairs -pretend you’re having a party -scatter toy cars on your floor -play a scene from “angels with dirty faces” and turn it all the way up -prepare an escape zip line from your attic window
Hornet spray is a great idea. I've heard this everywhere. Shoots a stream across the room, and if you hit them in the face, they will be instantly disabled, and will have to go to the hospital for treatment. Brutal stuff. I recommend you keep a can at your bedside.
I have a can but only because I'm deathly allergic to anything with a stinger. For intruders I just my hands in the surrender position, and some ropes and handkerchiefs once I've finished begging for mercy.
Hornet spray is a horrible idea and technically illegal to use as a weapon. It's not effective, can be construed as deadly force in court or a civil suit, you risk contaminating your path of escape, and it's against federal law to use it in any manner other than its intended use.
Another tip: if it's night time and you realise someone is breaking in, turn off all the lights. While they'll be stumbling around blindly and bumping into furniture, you have the advantage of knowing where everything is in your house, such as exit points or weapons. Remember, spatial awareness is everything.
@@rodgersmith1573 you could disorient the intruder with a sudden bright light in their eyes? Also if it it heavy enough, it could probably double as a weapon.
@@cominatchawiththeyeet9398 You're running night vision. There is no advantage to using visible light over IR. You're only going to give away *your* position to an intruder. While they're inside of your home, which they likely do not know the layout of, stumbling around, pupils dilated, trying their hardest to make out any sort of light, you are now hunting *them* on *your* turf. Personally, I keep a sub-machinegun with a 3-lug suppressor, using sub-sonics, and Suomi drum mags ready to go at all times. Once I pair that with night vision, an IR light and laser? If somebody were to enter my home as it is, they're sort of fucked. Do so at night? They'll think Satan himself crawled from the depths of hell to drag them down. But, yeah. Something like a maglight to bash someone's noggin might work too.

There's no secrets in this video. It's all common sense stuff anyway. Most of the time, the reason why people became victims of a home invasion is typically cause they were niave to think it will never happen, and plus, they didn't assess their weaknesses and have a plan ready.
Just recently in Canada, we had a case where a husband came home and pulled up into his driveway and entered his garage using the automatic opener. As he pulled in some more, a masked man snuck from the alleyway (right next to the garage where the husband parked) and stood against the wall till the garage door closed. The husband NEVER looked behind or even GLANCED at his mirrors to make sure it was safe to come out and you could see that the husband exited the car and closed the garage door (hitting the button on the wall) and the masked man right there on the other side just getting ready. He was so oblivious and that caused him AND his wife to pay the price because they were both murdered. You can see this in the neighbor's surveiance footage that captured everything above except the actual murder. PAY ATTENTION WHEN YOU ARE IN YOUR TRANSITIONAL SPACES AKA DRIVEWAYS, GARAGES. KEEP GLANCE AT ALL YOUR MIRRORS! You are not safe till you are inside of the house, secured and locked up!!
I was taught to pull in the garage with all your car doors locked. Put the garage door down without getting out of the car and wait a minute or 2. If someone is in the garage, lay on your horn and back out thru the garage door. You don’t want to wait for the door to go back up and the noise will attract attention

Very useful information in this video! 3 yrs ago I was living alone with my elderly disabled father in Baltimore. Our house was broken into by 3 guys that thought my Dad was loaded with $$. One guy had a knife and one had an automatic rifle. They held me at gun point, searched my Dad found $30 and stabbed him in the stomach. Then they stripsearched me. There are a lot of pieces to this puzzle.
Well I'll be. I have a 3 acre property fenced with 4ft 2"x4" grid wire, top with barbed wire. My north line is .5 acre wooded all the way up to the fence. There are fruit and berry shrubs, trees, from east to west, north to the next property. There is virtually no sight line from my fence north to the next property. Would you suggest I go ahead and trim that, say from the fence to about 10 ft wide, or just trim the lower limbs? They are large mature trees. Right now, a person can hide right at that fenceline and I would not know it. The dogs have been a terror more than once, so someone is there. I have creepy dude on the other property. I hate disturbing the fruiters. But these times call for sacrifice right? My backup dog guardian is 120lb pitbull/catahoula mix, that holds down the east side, gate entry. Loves me to pieces. Not so much others, or chickens. Why he's cabled. He's cabled on a 75ft line, with 30 ft width to the house. Sorry for the length. The garage door emergency release cable tip is GOLD! I've never thought or heard anyone talk about this. I've talked to my husband about the door screws and he rolls his eyes. "Fight for your life" is what I told my son when he was little if someone grabbed him. I told him that they will lie, do NOT believe them...scream, kick, hit and NEVER give up. Unfortunately we live in an uncertain world. Instead of adopting a victim mindset learning tools to turn things around in difficult and deadly situations is extremely important. Thank you.

One summer back in 2000, virtually all the homes on my side of the street got robbed. @@angelasmith257 So do I, but I just recently watched a UA-cam video about scary stuff caught on home security video. One clip showed a man attempting to break into a home. You could hear the little dog barking from inside the house. The wanna be intruder wasn't phased. Now I'm thinking I should get a big dog too.
@Angela Smith I think having the security will be worth the trouble. I imagine a big dog bark is much more threatening. Every man knows he can kick a small dog across a room if need be.
He's making excellent points, some of which I've been thinking about a lot recently. The security camera in my living room gets a good view, and is higher quality than I expected, BUT it's not going to get a face unless you look straight at it. I think cameras placed low, and aimed up at doors are probably a good idea, as long as it's high enough that the dog doesn't trigger it every time he goes to bark out the front window.
Topher S, Get a can of sealer for trimming tree limbs and spread a thin layer wherever the thief would touch the skateboard to pick it up. That stuff is like fly paper. When I go to bed I lock my bedroom door. That way I hopefully have a moment to lock myself in my clothes closet and grab my pistol before the door is kicked in. Another thing we do is leave a light on downstairs and at top of stairs. We have 2 motion detection lights on the back of the house. Also be situationally aware. When you are out and about get off that phone and be aware of who is near you and what they are up to. Especially in parking lots. If I see someone approaching me and I am in a vulnerable spot I get my phone and pretend talk.
I keep my property pitch black inside and out with lots of obstacles, if someone robs me at night...it is a friend...Also, I have known several people who had intruders at night that were just trying to steal something soo thieves come day or night. Also, ive heard never leave anything around outside your house that could be used as a weapon I.e. bricks, tools, shovels etc...dont use nightloghts inside your home because then anyone can see inside at night. When repair people come, do not walk them through your home, keep them ONLY in the area being worked on or outside, if they are doing outside work keep all blinds closed while they are there so they cannot peep the layout of your home. Keep a gun close by your bed. If they DO enter your home, you can exit a bedroom window and go to a neigbors house to call police.
Another good tip, get a storm door or screen , lock that at night, makes a lot noise having to bust through 2 doors. Parking your car closer to your garage makes extremely difficult for a thief to carry anything in and out. Good idea to zip to the e release.

I’m in the private security industry and that’s exactly what I train and educate but the only things I disagree with is the leaving skate boards or whatever outside and telling your neighbors too much information about what’s going on with your household and where a-bouts , most the time there’s a break in it’s someone that knows you or your routines and can also be a neighbor or your neighbors mention something to someone else
I agree. How well do you really know your neighbors and especially not all the people that they know whom they may divulge your personal info to. As for the kids' toys strewn about, I don't see that as a deterrent, if anything it could attract certain sickos.
@@KatarinaS. That’s exactly what I thought. The killer pedophile that kidnapped Shasta and Dylan Groene said he picked their house because he saw the toys in the yard.
A big one is: Never tell anyone you're going out of town. A neighbor once told me she was going out of town, but said she wasn't telling a mutual friend--who couldn't keep a secret. Also, there are a few newlyweds out there who were robbed when they plastered all over their social media that they were going to Tahiti for their honeymoon.
Heck yes! Just because you have pleasant conversations doesn't mean you can trust your neighbors! My ex was a cop and he always said a lot of times people are robbed by someone close who knows your routine or has already been inside your house. Watch ID and you'll never give your key to anyone!
I used to be a driving instructor. I taught all my students to carry a small can of florescent paint. Attacker gets blinded long enough for you to get away. He also gets marked for a long time because it doesn't wash out. This can be kept in every room of the house. Another big hindering spray is spray tact. The glue in the face will temporarily burn the eyes but will cause the eyes to be glued shut
I like using an external wooden door for the bed room door with loprofile security latches, doesn't look bad and it's way sturdier than a standard bedroom door. Gives you time to wake up.
That film is very expensive. It works! But it's costly. There are various levels of window film, some just help keep a room cool while receiving direct sun, some will prevent breaking if the lawnmower kicks rocks at the window, or if you live near a golf course, and the pricey good stuff is nicknamed "riot film" and prevents damage from a lot of things.

“The ones who want your stuff come during the day, the ones who come at night, want you.” Ngl that shook me to my core.
i mean other than that guy who broke into my car at 2am
Deadass like me, a poor harmless student with no enemies, was like 'they want...mE??!?!?!?!'

Lmfao. This is so accurate. I lived in a terrible neighborhood. Think, no pizza delivery after dark. Lol my neighbor on the left once called me to let me know my neighbor from my right was trying to get into my window. 😭😆 I was a broke single mom at the time. idk what he was even trying to take.

Exactly. So home invaders are afraid of kids. Is that what he was trying to say? Or they are afraid of toys? Either way, what?
@@BeefNEggs057 I think the point was most theifs don't want to break into a house with kids or may not even have any intention of possibly harming a child. Of course, not all criminals think like that, of course.
houses with kids inside could have kids wandering around at night or they could wake up and scream to sound the alarm. Basically meaning more people to raise the alarm that someone is there, and you don’t know that everyone is going to be in their bedrooms. Makes it a riskier choice than say a couple who would be in the same room.

Quick summary
1 - Make it look like someone is home
2 - Make your life seem unpredicatable (fake dog signs, children toys, etc)
3 & 4 - Pretend to or actually have a security system
5 - Strategically place the cameras (be mindful of sun directly shining)
6 - Establish trustful relationships with neighbors (they can give heads-ups)
7 & 8 - LOCK the garage door and secure the locking cable (they can typically unlock with a hanger)
9 - Get a solid door
10 & 11 - Replace door screws with long screws (prevents getting kicked down)
12 - Install a protective window film
13 - Defensive plan (rally point locations, routes, and communication)
14 - Have flashlight, weapon (sprays count), car alarm, and charged cell on your nightstand
15 - Fight for your life, have no mercy
16 - Keep distance from the attacker

Hornet spray is a great idea. I've heard this everywhere. Shoots a stream across the room, and if you hit them in the face, they will be instantly disabled, and will have to go to the hospital for treatment. Brutal stuff. I recommend you keep a can at your bedside.
12g lead criminal repellent works great too
I have a can but only because I'm deathly allergic to anything with a stinger. For intruders I just my hands in the surrender position, and some ropes and handkerchiefs once I've finished begging for mercy.
Bearspray and a shotgun
Yes agree…and hornet spray wont gag and blind yourself and everyone in a 5m radius like mace will. Add an air horn to the ears too.

@@silverwave0018 If you've got nods, why not use an IR light rather than visible white light?

Back into your driveway and garage.
I was taught to pull in the garage with all your car doors locked. Put the garage door down without getting out of the car and wait a minute or 2. If someone is in the garage, lay on your horn and back out thru the garage door. You don’t want to wait for the door to go back up and the noise will attract attention
If a thief comes to my house, I will start looking for money with him.

With some help of my step son, I was able to get a rear naked choke and choked him out...nearly killed this guy, luckily for him Im a decent person...not a killer. I ended up in the hospital from a blow I took from the pipe across my face... Doctors could believe I wasn't knocked out...i have three small plates in my forehead and eye sock...I will never forget my baby girl saying don't hurt my daddy...while I was on the floor choking the guy...I would have died for her

I had that happen in day time hours. Thank God I had a sliding back door to my apartment to go through while they kicked down my front door. Only lived there 3 weeks & I had 3 young kids. Left & never went back.
Found nothing to steal except that $30 on dad. They all stepped into our kitchen, talked, came out and shot my dad in the neck. They told me to stay right there that I was next and they went back into the kitchen to talk. I told my dad I was going for help (I thought he was gone 😔) and I ran out the door and up the street until I found help. A little more home security knowledge at the time would’ve been sooo very helpful. I pray for everyone to not have to go through this but if u do then atleast be prepared 🙏✌🏻💜💜💜
PS-dad is still alive and kicking as he puts it lol, still kickin’ just not too high lol

We have a particularly nasty 112 lb. GSD/Wolf hybrid with beware of dog signs. We got him from the pound, he was scheduled to be put down because he bit 3 people. We saved him. He is a handful, but a great guard dog. The put up flood lights, and cut all the lower tree branches up 8’. Easier to cut the lawn, looks great and gives me vision to all 3 acres around the house.
I read your post and we are set so similarly, it all came pouring out. Thank you and God bless you.
I have been thinking on fencing around my house so my dog can roam it. She's 130 lb central Asian Shepherd mix.
Am currently looking at another dog I want so badly.
It's a puppy and I can't bend over and can't run to the door as often as a puppy needs.
This puppy is a bull mastiff/great dane mix. So perfect for me. I like the trimming trees 8ft up, great idea!. I live in woods and field so yes that'd be helpful..thanks!

One summer back in 2000, virtually all the homes on my side of the street got robbed. Ours was the only one that was saved, and we never locked our doors (because we kept forgetting our keys and locking ourselves out)!!!
@@mariebee3146 wow…I don’t do big dogs especially in the house too much upkeep!
If you lean a skateboard against the building in my neighborhood it would be gone within 10 minutes.
Topher S or used to break a window

Topher S,
Get a can of sealer for trimming tree limbs and spread a thin layer wherever the thief would touch the skateboard to pick it up. That stuff is like fly paper. It stays sticky forever and is nearly impossible to get off. (You can imagine how I know that.) Of course, that is more likely to trigger anger and retribution than a chuckle and a "You got me" response.

Miss blue most people don’t have theft/fire insurance on all or any of their belongings

Agree. Loose lips sink ships.
I never thought of these two items!! Will be adding them to my shopping list, thank you! ❤
I like using an external wooden door for the bed room door with loprofile security latches, doesn't look bad and it's way sturdier than a standard bedroom door. Gives you time to wake up.

@@1042firegirl Amazon should have them
That film is very expensive.
