Disney Post Renaissance Era: Worst to Best
The 2000s were a turbulent time for the Walt Disney Animation Studio. The Disney Renaissance had come to an end, and audiences began to grow tired of the fairy tale musicals that dominated the 90’s. The Disney Post Renaissance Era, sometimes also called the “Experimental” era, saw the studio experiment with a number of different genres in the changing animation industry. The movies of this era ranged from buddy comedies to science fiction and everything in between! This would be the last time the studio would emphasize hand-drawn animation and the first that the studio would release CG features. It was also the era where Disney had to reinvent itself to keep up with competition from Pixar and Dreamworks. But which of these movies are worth revisiting, and which are we better off pretending like they didn’t happen?

I’ve never even heard of dinosaurs movie before this video
@@estebannunez9282 Disney sent some agents to wipe it from your memory like in Men In Black.
@@WickedBinge oh my God you guys actually responded to my comment!!
Do helluva boss characters good to evil
Ok but Brother Bear had one joke that always gets a chuckle out of me:
"This year, I lost my dear husband, Edgar."
"QUIT TELLING EVERYONE IM DEAD!"
honestly, same. the comedy in this movie was pretty bad, but I did get a single laugh from that joke.
I like brother bear, yay it’s not funny but I liked the two songs Great Spirits, On My Way and the song in Sika’s funereal scene, plus the art is beautiful and the action scenes were amazing.
Sometimes I can still here his voice
By the way, I honestly think that the Emperor's New Groove is the BEST.
Facts
Believe it or not I’ve actually watched the movie “Dinosaur.” Which apparently is the worst.
@Family S, I don’t think so, but the Emperors New Groove is closer to first than second.
Boom baby!
This list would not be complete without Lilo and Stitch, there is one scene, in particular, involving Lilo and Nani that I could go on and on about why I think it's the most brilliantly written scene about them.
Well, what's the scene?!
@@justincarawan-carawanco.pu1639 it's the pizza scene, after their afternoon spat.
@@joshuaokoro-sokoh2993 Ah! Agreed. Both one of the saddest and sweetest in the movie.
I’m so glad you ranked “Meet The Robinsons” high on the list, it’s so underrated.
I like dinosaurs so much better tho.
I really like Meet the Robinsons
I am glad too! It's one of my favourite movies
Yesss
Agreed. I like that movie! It gives great advice and has some (not all) great characters. My only complaints are the Robinsons weird comedic moments and how little screen time they got, how rushed the climax felt, and Wilbur’s slightly annoying behavior.
Disney should invest more with some underrated cult-classic movies that deserve more than box-office flops! They need to bring back those properties for theme park rides and some TV shows!
Yeah they should!
Treasure planet is one of the most underrated Disney movies period.
i like it

Wrong. Emperors new groove is
@@DandTBros but it's pretty highly rated already
@@JC_Fuh_KCStill the best. Lilo and stitch was good to. I quote both movies to this day
The positive thing I can give to those forgotten disney movies, is if it wasn't for those film, the amazing disney movies that we have and know today probably wouldn't have existed. So give some credit.
Strongly agreed, if the 2000s era is called (by most people) “the Post-Renaissance Era”, then wouldn’t that make the 2010s “the post-Renaissance Era” as well because both are eras after the 1990s? If anything, “Experimental/00s/Underrated/Millennium Era” sounds like the best way to go!
I want Lilo and Stitch to get a proper theme park attraction at Disney Parks that’s a proper ride-through experience built from the ground up and not reimagined overlay of an existing attraction!
Yes, me too!
*Dinosaur* has a huge attraction at the main park, but Lilo and Stitch doesn't.
@@apocontherapgod4884 It does deserve one Lilo and Stitch is my favorite
🫣🫣🫣 Agreed. That Stitch animatronic gave me NIGHTMARES as a kid!!! 🫣🫣🫣
I was this days old when wickedbinge told me Lilo and Stitch actually had a anime
Tbh, Dinosaur is one of my favorite childhood movies. I know, this and Brother Bear. Shocker.
Unpopular opinion dinosaur is the most underrated disney movie.
Same and same
@ShadeSlayer_the Nightwing ah I see and in my state california used to have grizzly bears so that movie also has a special place in my heart
@ShadeSlayer_the Nightwing Oh that's lovely. I've watched brother bear since I was 7 years old and was one of the most frequent Disney movies I watched.
When my sister was born 6 years ago, I gave her her first teddy bear. And to this day she calls him Brother Bear. Now I no it's not exactly related to the movie per say, but I think you know what I mean.
Nice video!
Here’s my list!
1. Lilo and Stitch (the best of the best and a fan favorite)
2. The Emperor’s New Groove (an underrated underperformed cult classic with lots of funny moments and humor)
3. Atlantis: The Lost Empire (another underrated cult classic that deserves its own theme park ride and TV show for Disney+)
4. Treasure Planet (another underrated underperformed cult classic like Atlantis that also deserves more love and more stuff to follow up)
5. Meet the Robinsons (a CGI cult classic with a motto of “keep moving forward”)
6. Brother Bear (a cult classic with a Phil Collins soundtrack and some hilarious moments)
7. Dinosaur (an underrated cult classic that still has a theme park ride and is a major box-office success with impressive CGI and photorealistic and lifelike CGI dinosaurs that look scientifically outdated; a similar problem with photorealistic CGI animals plagued the 2019 remake of “The Lion King” which also was a major box-office success and faced similar critical problems like Dinosaur)
8. Bolt (a cult classic that paved the way for another Disney Animation Renaissance also known as the Disney Revival era)
9. Fantasia 2000 (a sequel to 1940’s Fantasia but for modern audiences at the time where the franchise would most likely get a revisit for a Disney+ anthology series called “Fantasia Evolved” or “Fantasia+”)
10. Chicken Little (a movie that failed to imitate the popularity of the Pixar and DreamWorks)
11. Home on the Range (a movie that paled in comparison to its predecessors and killed hand-drawn animation, but it still had some elements of Westerns and martial arts and mostly good comedy and characters)
Eisner renamed Countdown to Extinction to Dinosaur at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to promote the movie...
While that didn’t work, at least the ride is still called that and a fun ride. *Let’s go get that dino*
Wow
I was shocked that Dinosaur was at the bottom. I genually enjoyed that movie. It's my third favorite movie out of the ones on this list after the top two.
I love Kuzco. Emperor's new groove was funny. Should be WAY higher.
You should see the sequel. KRONK's New Groove. Focus on the legend, Kronk.
Way higher? It got 2nd. As much as I love it, there was no way it was beating Lilo and Stitch.
@@LilMslDev In my opinion it's better than lilo and stitch.
@@tangerineblossom8985 I get it, but realistically more people love L&S. ENG was never taking the top spot.
@@earnd6296 Mediocre at best. The only part I laughed at was the old guy impersonating Gollum.

Treasure Planet & The Lost city of Atlantis are underrated gems. The marketing for Treasure Planet hurt it the most while Atlantis just kind of got forgotten for the most part
Also side note for the Emperor's New Groove: Look up Ezma's villain song Snuff out the Light if u haven't already
"Try not to think to much about the time travel."
A bit late for that!

My Ranking of the Post-Renaissance.
1. Lilo & Stitch - Lilo is one of those Disney characters that is super realistic due to her sisterly relationship with Nani. Stitch is a funny character and is also aggressive just like The Beast and Donald Duck. Just like Mulan, Encanto, The Lion King and Alice in Wonderland, it has 2-4 musical sequences but the songs are super catchy.
2. The Emperor’s New Groove - The funniest Disney movie ever, Yzma and Kronk were hilarious everytime when they get into arguments and screentime together. The plot and the characters makes this super entertaining and Kuzco is a underrated Disney character, we first see him as a spoiled emperor but during the film, we see his funny personality and realizes his mistakes.
3. Treasure Planet - The action scenes is incredible, the voice acting is amazing and the character development between Jim and Silver makes them an underrated duo in a Disney movie. The animation is also amazing and I just love that the climax makes this super underrated.
4. Atlantis: The Lost Empire: Just like The Little Mermaid, the underwater animation is solid and incredible and Kida is a fantastic bravery character. Milo is a funny dude with intelligence, humor and bravery.
5. Meet the Robinsons - This movie is emotional with great writing and solid comedy. The characters were little bit enjoyable but the plot makes me super confused and I’m not sure who was the villain.
6. Brother Bear - Kenai and Koda had great chemistry and the humor is great, the ending scene and the transformation scene executes the movie very well and emotional. It has amazing 2D animation and I’m On My Way sequence is kinda little bit catchy.
7. Bolt - Not sure why this movie received postitive critics, I was super bored while watching it and it barely makes me watch some scenes. Bolt is super spoiled and wouldn’t listen to Mitten’s words because all of his action/superhero scenes aren’t actually real but he did show bravery on the end.
8. Fantasia 2000 - All of the musical segments in this movie is not that great like the original Fantasia, the animation isn’t great, it literally copyed the segment where Mickey so it can get positive critics and the classical music is not that great too.
9. Dinosaur - One of the dinosaur leaders acts super spoiled, naive and cruel. Why do people call this underrated because this movie sucked and it’s super bland.
10. Home on the Range - I hated it so much when I first watched it, the characters always provoke arguments and the villain song is not catchy. Even though the animation wasn’t CGI, I still hate it.
11.Chicken Little - The humor is super annoying and the animation is horrible. All of the characters are super unappealing and annoying at the same time and the plot is the worst of all Disney movies.
The Emperor's New Groove is still my all time favorite Disney movie. The quoting of this movie with me is right up there with quoting Spaceballs and Monty Python and the holy grail.
I love Emperor’s New Groove. Such a barrel of laughs and fun!
tbh this era was actually pretty underrated. it wasn’t super memorable but there were still pretty awesome movies (ex. treasure planet, lilo & stitch, the emperor’s new groove)
My favorite part of lilo and stitch is the fight against jumba mainly when Lilo says “ Oh good my dog found the chainsaw I still laugh at the scene every time and I’ve watched the movie 30 times
Idea: Tangled Characters Good to Evil!
I love Bolt, he's so underrated, and helped start the Revival Era
exactly dunno why everyone hates it
Bolt was both critically and financially well succeeded movie. It's the movie that actually revived Disney. Definitely better than Meet the Robinsons or Treasure Planet.
Bolt deserves it's own series for Disney+. Alternately having Bolt in next Kingdom Hearts game presented in some way of form would be super great (as a summon, playable world as Sora transformed into a dog, or just a cameo) Bolt deserves some justice and having him hang out with character who shaked Mario's hand would justify him well. :)

I cried at least 8 times during Brother Bear. I loved the moose brothers. They were hilarious especially after crying. I'd rank it higher for sure.
It’s actually kind of funny that the top story is the 2000s so they gave the bronze medal to “Atlantis, the lost Empire“ which was released in 2001 and then they gave the runner-up a.k.a. the silver medal to “the emperors new groove“released in 2000 and to obviously, no one surprise the gold medal goes to “Lilo and stitch” which was released in 2002.
Where’s Princess and the Frog?

How can you say that Home on the Range doesn't have much in the way of steaks? They're literally walking beef!
Why doesn’t this have more likes
Theres actually something interesting about Dinosaur: it was originally going to be a film with no dialogue like the dinosaur segment in Fantasia. However the idiot Michael Eisner wanted the dinosaurs talk at the last minute which made the final version much worse. It had lots of potential but it was shattered by executive interference.
Since disney likes to remake their classics maybe Dinosaur could have a remake and not have the dinosaurs talk.
I love Atlantis. It has all of my biggest Disney crushes. Kida, Helga, Audrey, Milo, and Dr. Sweet. I also kind of liked Vinny as a kid, but not as much as the others.
I love Home on the Range, Chicken Little, Brother Bear, Treasure Planet, Lilo and Stitch, Atlantis the Lost Empire, and The Emperor's New Groove.
I just want to say that stitch is my favorite Disney character because he reminds me of me a good person with a bit of a naughty side

To be honest I think the list is OK, but here's my favorite post Diseny movies. 1: Treasure Planet is good from what I've heard even though I haven't watched it yet but if I find it? I'll watch it, but I agree with people who says it's underrated and it needs more love. Jim Hawkins is my new favorite character, he's pretty cute even for a cartoon character and relatable in some ways, I'm 21 now but I don't really know what to do with my life, but I'm figuring it out as life goes on. 2: Chicken Little is actually pretty good in my opinion, the story kept me hooked, the music was upbeat, the relationships between Chicken Little and is somewhat relatable to me and my mom and the aliens are adorable. Again another underrated good Diseny movie. 3: Bolt and I must say how dare you say this movie is bad? To me? This movie is also good yet underrated, Bolt as a some kind of superhero dog is an awesome story, mittens is sarcastic and adorable which I relate with and I love cats in general and rhino is so cute and adorable too, not mention awesome and don't forget that Penny was voiced by Miley Cyrus! I mean how could you forget that Wickedbinge? She's famous! But overall I liked the story and the songs were pretty catchy too, especially I Thought I Lost You. 4: Brother Bear, why you guys think this movie is bad too? To me? It's good also, the story kept me hooked, the songs were pretty catchy, the veritity of colors and landscapes was beautiful and awesome, Koda and Kenai's brotherly bond forming was sweet, the message of love was heartwarming and relatable and overall it was good. 5: Lilo and Stitch, this has got to be my favorite 2D animated Diseny movie ever, it was good even my mom liked it (but she loves Hawaii in general so that's why she likes it) But for me, the story kept me hooked, the songs were pretty catchy especially Burning Love at the end credits, Stitch is my favorite cute character ever, the sister bond was sweet, some moments were funny and the bond forming between Lilo and Stitch was sweet too, and I feel like I can relate to both characters when it comes to feeling like an outcast and being lost in finding out who I am or what can contribute or where belong. This movie is such an inspiration to all us knowing who or are or the outcasts and I'll keep this movie in my heart forever.
I think Bolt should have been placed higher.
Okay I can understand why Dinosaur is so low despite me loving that movie, but Bolt? My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. The “No Home Like The One You’ve Got” montage still makes me cry.
