Shauna, always great to see page by page of how these books look. We use Saxon Math (we have since we started over 6 years ago), we had hear so many great things about going with Saxon that we did not really explore any other options - so far so good! Glad that you found a math that you guys like - it looks like a great one too! 😀

I’ve been wondering about Saxon math! I know a lot of people from classical conversations that use it or recommend it on their channels. Does it differ a lot from what you’ve seen here?

I bought their revealing arithmetic book and it’s awesome for other ways of teaching math!!! I got it on their flash sale tho!!! We prefer to skip lessons on what my kids have fully mastered than go onto the next level!!! Place value is awesome for science latter on!!! We don’t use American money in real life so I don’t mind how many lessons they do on money in a American curriculum, but we do other money tasks!!! We will be using dollars tho when we move so I make my kids do those lessons just not coins as they are different. It doesn’t put me off using American curriculum tho!!! We use °C instead of °F for temperatures!!! This style helps me to decide!!!

I’m glad this way is helping! Thank you for the feedback. We lived in Germany for a time and I always had to look up the difference between C and F! Definitely a learning curve. I hope your move goes well ❤️

I am so confused right now. My son is 3/4 pf the way through level 1 and im wondering of i should switch brands. I often feel like with MB that i will feel just like you said, its not enoguh or its too slow or repetetive etc. But then i start to see the wisdom when i keep going.
Other math curriculums at the same level seem to cover more material for the same level but my son absolutely loves this curriculum

It’s such a hard decision when you’re thinking about changing and they like it. My son genuinely enjoyed MB and I’m sure it would have been fine had we stayed with it but I wanted him to be a bit more challenged. Not in a pull your hair out kind of way but in a way where it progresses his mind a bit more. If you’re both happy with it then I say keep it but to me, and this is just my opinion, you need to enjoy teaching it too. It just got so repetitive for me and when they would i traduce new concepts at the very end it irritated me because it felt kinda slap dash instead of giving him time with it to explore more before the year ended. The good thing is if you change and don’t like it then there’s nothing saying you can’t go back to MB.

@@HomegrownHomeschool thank you for responding. I do like it. But I also am sensing the holes in it and also do think that my child could use more challenge and also more depth and practice. I've already been supplementing him with the TGAB math k that I have but stopped using last year so that he can have more practice getting used to just doing math problems.
Anyhow we learn as we go. I'm so grateful that there are so many resources out there that allow us to educate our kids without having gone to college to become educators

Do you find you need the teachers manual? Or are you fine without (at least for the lower levels?? Thanks!

I never personally needed the Teachers companion. We used their level 2 and 3 before switching but the math was all straight to the point.
