I am a burn patient when I was 3 years old my cousin threw fire on my pants and I ran to the front door to get help. The first grafting didn’t work out, and I asked why? My mom said it was because they put the skin in the wrong direction? Then I was taken to a larger hospital for surgery and they said that I had a team of plastic surgeons who donated their own time to help me have a normal leg. I thank God for being able to walk and run without having any problems or discomfort at all. The burn was very intense and I could see my bones in my leg. I held the flesh together and I was crying and my tears fell on my burn, and I screamed out. My dad said “lift your head up and don’t look at it.” He was driving me and my younger sister to the hospital, and I was in the middle of them. Then I was placed on a gurney to go straight to surgery. I remember the mask and the smell of ether until I was out. I’m now 65 years old and I just broke my left knee and surgery was necessary for me to walk again. Thank you plastic surgeons for caring for my leg so I could outrun the rest of the kids in school. 😂

I like Dr. Pimple Popper but sometimes I think some of her patients need to go to an OR due to the size and complexity of some of the problems her patients may have. There is also anxiety the patient feels going through a long procedure. She seems to use a lot of lidocaine on these surgeries which is not good for the patient. I know she is a board certified dermatologist. I hope those people seen on TV aren't being pushed into a bad situation that should have been taken care of in the OR.

I can understand if they can't take everything the first time around do to bleeding, amount of time under anesthesia ect.. It would appear a large number of her patients have underlying conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, ect. I have some suspicions patients on that show are picked to have their surgery in her office because it makes good TV with the blood, gore, and uniqueness of the lesion(s). I really hope that isn't the case. @@dietotaku

Dr. Lee talks frequently about the risks of lidocaine and how much she can use. She's stopped procedures early because it was approaching the limit of what she can give in one 24 hour period. In those cases the people return for further treatment on a later date.

There’s not only the fear of being under general anesthesia, but there’s also a lot of people whose bodies can’t handle being put to sleep. Doctors have to be mindful of both scenarios when it comes to surgery. You also have to consider how much trauma you’re putting the body through and what lasting effects that can have.

I had two very bad experiences with general anesthesia that when I had my entropic blepharoplasty done, I was somewhat sedated. The main reason is because each time I went under general: I wouldn't wake up until about an hour or two later. Not very fun. During the surgery, they used monitored anesthesia so I won't fall asleep with local injections at my eyes.

General anesthesia is supposed to put you completely asleep, requiring breathing protection. It takes hours to recover from.
It sounds like either this was not communicated correctly to you, so you had different expections of recovery, or it was a different level of sedation and the wrong name is being used.

I think everyone has medical problem that you have to deal with. On the other hand no matter what a person is dealing with, you always see some one who is worst off then you. I know I see other people who have to contend with more serious medical conditions then myself. I do like what Dr. Lee does in an office setting but if I was having that procedure done, I think Dr. Youn has the better idea, I would would want it to be done under general anesthesia in a hospital setting. If somethings unexpected happens such as excessive bleeding, or if you were dizzy after the procedure, there would be someone there to address the problem and and it would also help if you knew you did not have to hurry about getting up and going home in a designated period.
