Sub'd, great review. Got my eyes on this new refreshed model. So much better than the 2024 and previous years. Black paint is my favorite color with the red accents
I just bought one of these about a month ago. The engine sound in sport mode is piped into the car. It is not all real. You can put sport mode settings in custom mode and defeat this without changing the sport performance. Stock tires are crap - don't wait until you wear them out to change them. I put on Michelin Pilot Sport All-season 4 tires on in the first week. It transformed the feel, traction, and handling in a significant way. It cost $1k - totally worth it. There is body roll stock - not bad but not great. I just upgraded front and rear sway bars and installed strut tower bar with the less expensive ECS parts. Again the car is transformed. Comfort mode is now less sloppy; Normal and Eco modes are fun and comfortable, and Sport mode makes it turn like a go cart, but loses some comfort. In terms of power, I like it stock - why spin the wheels more? Spirited driving is much better with the paddle shifters - It's worthwhile to learn them.
I don't think it's really that big a deal. Had them on my Golf R, On my S4, y wife's t9guan, and have two kids, in all cases they would shut the vents as it was either too cold, or too hot. There are vents under the seats so there is still either hot or cold air going to the rear.
The 2025 VW Jetta GLI Autobahn and previous years have piped-in exhaust enhancement. There is no natural "sport exhaust". It would have been nice if there was red stitching on the steering wheel to match the rest of the GLI theme. Lack of Rear A/C, Heat and USB power is beyond inexcusable for an otherwise great vehicle.
Thanks! Technically you're right, EA888 Gen 3 in the GLI and Gen 4 in the GTI - it's revised with a larger turbo in the GTI. Thanks for pointing that out. We should have added that.
The 2025 does not have more power, it's the same engine. Same everything. The 228hp is a lie, Volks never been clean on the numbers. Put it on the dyno and see for yourself, you're closer to 258. I installed the MBRP catback on mine + some other things reaching near 300hp
I did a dragy 40-100 on a 2024 gti, 2024 gli, and stage 2 mk6 gti. They were all the same. The new gti has more potential but stock for stock they are the same power in my experience.
@@madskater5 The GTI is more agile and lighter. The engine is the new gen while the GLI is still running the basic EA888. But you can easily access many of the same upgrades that are available to Golf R and GTI owners because tuning this engine is relatively easy.
So why does everyone say there are no rear vents> There are rear vents, just not in the centre console, but under the front seats. In all the cars I have had them in the consol, my kids always turn them off because when you include the under seat vents, it is either too cold or too hot with them open, so now I have never had to crank to air for it to reach the back seat.
I like the new styling but am not too fond of the infotainment. I'll keep my 22' Gli Autobahn. The GTI got the gen 4 (EVO4) EA888 since like '22 that's the boost in HP and Torque. I'm sure it uses a different turbo as well. The Gli still uses the Gen 3 EA888 with the IS20.
my 2023 Jetta Highline has actual temp knobs instead of the haptic slider, and the buttons on the wheel are matte. I prefer the 2023 (plus we have rear air vents).
Thoughts on this vs. Civic Hybrid & Accord Hybrid? Both of these don't have LSD and are for slightly different audience but performance and handling are likely similar
I think they're really different cars. I was making a similar choice earlier, deciding between the GLI and Accord hybrid. I drive a ton for work and in general and I decided that if I'm spending so much time in a car, I might as well get something I enjoy driving vs *just a car* and I don't regret getting the GLI for a second. There's a great community for it, reliability for this engine is very solid, tons of aftermarket/tuning potential, and it's a sleeper. Elantra N is very showy but the GLI is much more subdued and mature, which I love. They're also fairly rare.
@@dangerousfox123 congrats on the purchase! The Accord rear legroom appeals to me since I’ll have a rear facing child seat for awhile and I’m being hopeful of something still fun to drive without going SUV 😅

But if you want more room then that's completely valid. The trunk on the GLI is also very big for it's size class
Ian here (camera guy that owns a Mazda 3 Turbo Hatchback). The GLI felt more sporty to me. Sounds better and is more comfortable. But I do enjoy having AWD in the Turbo and I like the interior/styling of the Mazda better. But the Mazda 3 Turbo is $40,000+ in Canada now which seems ridiculous to me. The GLI is better value and a bit more fun. Tough one!
@@ACCELER8TV Thanks Ian! Is the Mazda 3 better built than the Jetta? Jettas tend to be very plasticky, solid but plasticky. Also all the tech is old generation in this car compared to GTI. But then again a loaded Jetta costs less than the base GTI. And the Jetta has independent rear suspension and Dynamic Chassis Control, which you need to go to the top trim in the GTI to get that.
@@knzzzz318 I would say GTI>Jetta> Mazda 3 as GTI gets the EA888 EVO4. The 2025 GLI is still getting the gen 3 of EA888. The mazda3 turbo is too expensive, with a Torsion beam and a 6AT (DSG is much more fun). Also, the Jetta has much more legroom/headroom and trunk space than the Mazda 3. There is no way I am spending that much for a Mazda 3, which is slower than a GLI but more expensive. The only pro of Mazda 3 is the AWD which helps it launch better than the GLI but DSG will catch up immediately after the launch.
They are both super boring econoboxes at radically inflated prices for the performance. Slow, muffled, characterless turbo-4s. The GLI has more (partially fake) noise and the acceleration has more feeling, mostly when the turbo catches up and you get at least a little shove into your seat, whereas the 3 is so subdued and gentle/linear you literally would not know you were accelerating if you had your eyes closed. The 3 has much nicer material quality depending on the trim if you don't mind hard to clean and (IMO) ugly suede inserts... There is a full-leather version which (IMO) is the better one for feel and ability to clean/maintain it (leather will last forever if you treat it), but the real leather trim is a few thousand more than the GLI. The 3 has a fundamental dealbreaker for people with human bodies: a rock hard, uncomfortable headrest. The GLI's is one of the softest of the "sporty" cars in this price range, but overall the 3 is nicer looking/feeling on all other surfaces you come into contact with including armrests and steering wheel. Both have too much gloss black plastic, though the GLI has a lot more of it and in more frequently contacted areas (including actual controls being gloss black). Both cars will look like garbage inside once you have to clean the scratchable, dust-collecting gloss surfaces. At the time of this comment, the 3 has very attractive interest rates (dramatically better than GLI and can be had for cheaper if you don't care about interior features/materials). In terms of handling there are pros/cons, they both feel much heavier and more ponderous than youtube would lead you to believe. The only cars I've found which feel fun to drive in this price range are the BRZ and 86, which also have all the fun tricks of RWD, though of course if you must have 4 doors or real back seats you may be stuck looking at these instead. Personally, after trying 7 or 8 "sporty" cars in the $30k range, I gave up on finding anything that is fun yet practical, the market is dead. I think you'd be better off either getting more basic engines and saving a bunch of money (these mid-$30s cars aren't actually fun to drive to justify the big premium) or saving for something with a little more power and real sport handling. Maybe in a few years we will get some electric cars in this price range with passable range and a lot more pep, until then these 4 cyl turbo cars are all paper tigers and not worth their cost.
I have the mk7.5 GLI. This is kind of an L lowkey. No extra HP. Interior is exactly the same except for the climate controls and infotainment. Also. The sport exhaust mentioned is just speakers in sport mode. I don’t think it’s worth it.
Really good looking and sounding. Massive fail in 2025 for an 8" screen and no rear air or usb ports. If given the choice in the backseat, give them their own HVAC control, not heated seats.
Yeah they skimped out heavily in the rear seats. The top trim regular Jetta has rear AC and I was very disappointed that they omited that on the GLI. The screen is the exact same size as last year but they moved it out of the dash and it looks much worse to me.
If you want a million subscribers, you're going to have to switch it up. As a solo act, you should study Doug and his earlier videos; replicating what he did will prove tough especially in Canada. Infotainment system is not up the mark of new vw modeld
I bought a manual 2024 R & I guess it will be my last ever new VW. No manual No buy!
Nice! We just did a review on the 2024 Manual Golf R. Will be posting that video soon.

Hi Mike wassup 🌹❤️
If you want a million subscribers, you're going to have to switch it up. As a solo act, you should study Doug and his earlier videos; replicating what he did will prove tough especially in Canada. Your best bet is to get a co-host that is funny and quirky and compliments your moderate personality, like James does for Thomas, and Yuri does for Jakub. Best of luck.
I give my hat in the ring for the sidekick gig :)
same old Jetta from 2019
Did he say Gligh?
I want it but the motor is so outdated..
This interior basically 6 or 7 years old..
We want gle 63 copue 2024
Front end loooks way better but that rear light bar is ugly, best body style is the mk6 era❤
Cries in US Spec with no heated rear seats 😭
The 2020 had a better info system lol
It is sad as hell that this beau is Not available in Germany…..
Betta getta Jetta
That red accent strip looks terrible
Miss my 5 cylinder base 2010 Jetta which was loaded and didn’t have all the cheap plastic and cost cutting. VW you have lost the way.

Virtus is the sedan version of the Polo
Volkswagen "gleye"😭🤣🤣
