Of course they post this right as summer ended and it’s now fall
Not for people who live in South Florida. xD

@@BlakeBlackstone North Florida doesn't get much of a fall or winter either. I saw more ice in winter living in central Florida than I have in the north of the state.
It being fall now dose not mean the mornings and evening will be cool to cold until around mid-ish October.
@@dragonlvr069 I don't know about North Florida but I will say Gainesville actually got some colder weather while I lived there compared to the Tampa area where I'm stuck now.
I usually just throw in a few gallons of liquid nitrogen.

I tried, a couple doesnt work you need around 10 gallons
Aren't you worried about embrittlement?
Yeah that worked great until my car *cracked in half* ....

Texan Tip - Turn off recirculate for the first couple of minutes, when you feel the air is cool, turn it on, that way you're not recirculating and slowly cooling the HOT air, but using lower temp air from outside.
Don't keep recirculating air on for long with windows up. That's how to die from C02 poisoning.

so in conclusion, to have the least heat in your car:
when parked: put up the reflector on the windshield as well as cracking your windows slightly
when about to hop in: open the 2 front doors and swing one of the doors continuously for a hot minute (pun intended)
after hopping in: turn on the AC and roll up all the windows.
Tha ks
I would suggest closing the windows pretty quickly after the car has been rolling for a bit, probably around the time that the temp inside the car is the same as outside if you can help it. I usually roll the windows up after just a minute or less.
So, aready what i knew and is basic common sense.

Cali: “Are you going to be okay??!”
Nate: “Yea I like heat!”

For this kind of projects i would recomend getting something like an arduino + a few temperature sensors all around the car. Doesn't take much and the results could be made into a graph over time.

It drives me a little crazy that they left the door open while trying to take a post reading. Introduces so many variables that it basically nullifies the results. Why not leave the thermometer in the car viewable from thru the glass?
Exactly... when I saw them doing this I was like the results could be all over the place like if the wind direction picked up a little bit while the door was open could vastly change the results
They specifically said that they did that to match real life instances. People would normally get in the car and leave the door open. It's almost as if you guys didn't even actually watch the video lol
@@drew9453 yeah I know what they said, and I watched what they did. what I'm saying is it's a poor method. it introduces too many variables (e.g. a single breeze will invalidate the entire dataset). when doing testing of this sort, you're not trying to replicate real-life conditions, you're trying to isolate variables to see what works.

Next time you should compare a white interior with a Black one.
Yes
And exterior!
my only comment regarding that is most people are not going to change there car and its interior and exterior just to make there lives cooler because of this testing simple life hacks anyone can do/afford is more realistic then considering variables that only a few people will benefit from.
All interiors matter.
But yeah, I had a Saturn with a black interior, and when I had to have the dash out anyway, I used a vinyl paint to redo it in light beige with trim to match the exterior, then put a light colored steering wheel and shifter cover on. Might not have been a huge ambient difference, but touching the wheel and shifter was a lot less painful. And it looked sharp: a couple other Saturn owners asked if it was a factory option.

I feel your pain I live in central Florida swamp @$$ is just part of your day
@Cal believe it or not, we get that in the UK. We have a very wet climate and so as soon as it gets hot, it gets humid. So, even though getting really hot is rare, even slightly warm can be unpleasant. Having been in a tropical climate and a dry heat climate, I can also say that tropical is a lot worse
I live in Georgia and it gets **so** hot and humid. The air just feels super thick and you just start sweating.

"The temperature is slowly going down" (Driver Door open)
Honestly should have had the thermometer just sitting in each video with a camera watching them in real time so your not opening the doors and leaving them open.
Exactly and they should have gotten the right kind of thermometer for measuring air temperature. That one is real not actually designed for air temperature it is more for cooking. I liked the tests just not the method they use for measuring the temperature.
It wouldn't make that much of a difference, MAYBE 1 or 2 degrees. Also it is the proper thermometer, just cuz it looks like it's for cooking doesn't mean it is, lmao.
They should have gotten a thermometer you can leave in things that sends the temperature to a receiver so you don’t mess up the results by opening the doors
Their whole point though was to have the experience of stepping into a car.

Not to sound like the smart guy here, but your testing was skewed. You should have had the temp guages in the cars the whole time. Going into the cars afterward and holding the gauges up while the temp increased isn't very accurate. I crack my windows, and use a shade visor (which you didn't do) so I know it makes a huge difference from when I didn't do either of those things. Please redo your experiment, because I do enjoy your show, and so do 12.5 million other people.
