  • It's the end of week 2 with the baby chicks! The chicks have grown soooo much already. Elaina shares her tips for cleaning the chick brooder box daily. It is really important to keep the brooder box clean to keep the chickens from getting sick! Elaina also feeds the chicks treats for the first time.
To find out what other steps you can take to prevent illness in your chicks, watch our video on chick illnesses:

About Us: We are Alex and Elaina, a couple in our mid 20s who are currently living on the 3-acre farm in southern Pennsylvania where Alex grew up. We have a garden, backyard chickens, and build or fix anything that we need to. We still work corporate day jobs, but are working to eventually leave the 9-5 lifestyle in favor of a self-built, debt-free, homestead on 6 acres nearby.
Something that differentiates us from other UA-cam homestead channels is our transparency on the cost of our projects - there is usually a breakdown right in the description!

Oh lord, thank you. New chicken mom going into my 2nd week and it seems there are a hundred ways to do things and so many videos complicate things. Easy clean up & yes!! I have a dust pan (something else I don’t have to buy!)
    Thank you for the help!

We've had our chicks for 1 week now and I've been using your method for cleaning their brooder every day. Works fantastic and there's been zero odor!❤ Thanks again for some really great info!!

Decent pallets work nicely as long as you leave them whole, I've seen some who pry all the boards off and that looks like no fun. Cheers!
