    Mine is more like 2-feet, it’s reseeding. I want to remove it snd make a much smaller green area. I just wanted to see what would happen if I stopped mowing and watering. Surprised that two years of winter rains kept the lawn alive. But to remove it, we have to be able to get to the bottom of it. The thatch underneath is extreme.

    I read everywhere: only cut off one third at a time. How long should I wait between cutting off the second third? It seems you are just doing these steps right after the previous step, but doesn't that kill the grass?

    • @TheGreenerLawn
      @TheGreenerLawn  20 днів тому +1

      Nope, as you aren’t taking off more then 1/3 of the blade in only one swipe or pass with the mower. Key is to go slow with it to bring it down. And you can do it all in one time if you take your time and don’t cut more then 1/3 in a swipe.

      Personally, I would take it down to the level you want it in that one day just drop your level of your mower with your bag on it until you get to the level you want it and then just rebound it with water. If you’re going to go for it just go all in and then rebound it.

    So if I understand correctly, it's gradually cut /reduce height of grass with string trimmer first? Before mowing?

    • @TheGreenerLawn
      @TheGreenerLawn  Місяць тому +1

      Yea, so you’re not bogging your mower down, allowing it to work more Efficiently. Also, if you string trim it at a slow pace brining it down in smaller chunks, it will Minimize the yellowing. Try not to take off more then 1/3 the blade in any one swipe or mower pass.

    • @TheGreenerLawn
      @TheGreenerLawn  Місяць тому

      @@CEA9234 yes, lol. Let me clarify.
      As you string trim,
      Cut less then 1/3 of the grass blade per pass of the trimmer. Take it slower. So if it’s 9” tall,
      Take 3” or less on the first pass now it’s at 6”, do 2” or less, now when your at 4” or 5” you can use your mower on highest setting. Then lowering your mower similar to how your sting trimmer was.
