Girl…. Thank you!!! My twins have been in speech therapy for 1.5 years and they are turning 4 next week. I feel like we have had little advancement until recently. I feel like they are having a language explosion FINALLY! I feel like no one teaches the parents who are with the kids all the time. This is amazing and I am now addicted. Thank you! ❤
I love speech therapy videos for kids! I just found another new channel, speechstarsforkids! ❤ So glad to see these therapists doing their best to help little ones communicate
Brilliant! Ugh, I’m definitely guilty of using my son’s name whenever I’m disciplining 🤦🏻♀️ and using pet-names when showing affection! Thank you for this guidance! Name = Positive!
My baby is only a few months old but I want to do everything I can to help her have the tools she needs to communicate with me 😊. Thank you for your wonderful videos they are very informative!
Just found your channel on google today. We are very concerned about our 2 yr old kiddo who rarely respond to his name and make eye contact. I will check your other videos.
Same here, my two year old does not respond to his name, he talks, but not to us. He sings his songs, says his alphabet, repeats things from his fav shows butttt no communication
@@norabelike3568 Does your Early intervention program activity for making your baby respond to his name DIFFER THAN what is in this video?? Or same? Bcz what the they are following with my baby is not the same and that makes me afraid to cause confusion to my kiddo😅 Anyway, you encourage me alot♥️
Our child loves books story telling. He would bring the book to us and like asking by looking if he wants to be read and his good at memorization, but when we call his name indoor, not sure if he's ignoring us or a sign of A , he doesnt respond. If we were outside, i call his name he soemtimes responds and listen. We limited the screen time eversince. Eye contact is our major concern so he can focus learning and that he can have decent pictures. Other suggestions are greatly appreciated! 🙏
So glad I found your videos. I’m going down a rabbit hole lol. My two year old was evaluated and diagnosed with a speech delay. They feel he’s delayed in receptive and social but didn’t suspect any signs of autism, but he just will NOT respond to his name 😩 Going to try these tips!
My child is almost 2 years and he doesn’t respond either. I feel awful, like I should of worked with him more. We have him scheduled for speech therapy. He doesn’t show any other sign of possible issues. He’s a little speech delayed. Naturally I have self diagnosed him and have been stressing out. I’m also learning that they can have these issues and not have ASD and you can work on them and get them up to speed. Any updates on your child?
My son doesn’t really respond to his name, he is 12 months old. I think it’s our fault though because he has a long name we don’t really say it often we just call him “papa” for affection so maybe he doesn’t even know his name
But how long should we be doing this techniques for? How long does it takes for a kid to respond naturally? They seem to work but should we do them less and less everyday? Or will it be like this always giving reward or something for years?
My 2 year old daughter was able to read her own name I wrote it on the wall and was shocked. But when I call her name there is a disconnect if I say cookie or bubbles I have her attention she’ll look right at me and smile. So frustrating.
My daughter is two and doesn’t respond to her name all The time. Especially me but she does do it more at daycare but not consistently she says some words but not consistently just sounds she did one hearing test “passed” but has another
Hey.. great video, thank you. I’m definitely going to try out some of these strategies on my son. My son is a twin (16 months) and responds to his name only 50% of the time. He has great eye contact.. and really enjoys playing peekaboo. Can I use a game of peakaboo to help him with responding to his name? His twin sister consistently responds to her name. So that’s why I’m a bit worried. Thanks
Absolutely! Also, trying to not say their name all the time, only when doing something fun (like a game of peek a boo) is a fantastic strategy! also, try singing his name! and whispering and then hiding, etc!
guys any one please help my daughter is 2 years 2 months and she does not focus at all to make her respond to her name .....Is eye contact important to get name response
Hmmm for sure. To me, a diagnosis is just a word. I never care if a child actually has that diagnosis or not, my treatment is the same (when I suspect it) BUT it is important for insurance purposes to get therapy covered, but I do understand, it’s a tough thing to address. But it could also be sensory processing disorder, which causes similar “red flags” and is not technically autism. I hope this helps 💕 hang in there
I've been following these videos for a couple weeks and although he hasn't said any words yet he has started to look at me. Now when I talk he looks at me in the eye. How do I get my 19 month old to say mama and dada. I have laminated photos of everyone in the family, I've tried peek a boo then I say mama. I've tried labeling (mama's nose, mama's drink, etc). Nothing is working. She says other words though. Also, she will only say the first sound. She da for dog. Tah for toes, te foe teddy, etc.
I would get a referral to a developmental pediatrician if you have concerns - there is generally a 6+ month wait for an appointment but I think it's important to know one way or another so that you can have as much information as possible in order to provide the appropriate supports
