People give Mr. P a lot of shit for being as old as he is, and enjoying games... But, in reality? He's what I hope most of us gamers will turn out to be. We've seen the rise and fall of entire empires of gaming. The Command & Conquer series. Once, so legendary that nobody thought it could ever topple. Yet, it did. The same happened with so many others. I hope we'll learn that, no matter what, eventually, a game will fall. And if it does, it should be left to fall in grace, rather than struggle and die a long and painful death. I love TF2, and I'm not fond of Overwatch. I saw the amount of young children playing it and swearing constantly, amongst all the other cancerous stuff, and decided that I'd hold my money until it comes on sale. 50% off at the very least. 80% off is an instant buy. Mr. P is basically your grandfather or wiser beyond his years Uncle. He's been around for a long time, and despite being a little outdated with his ways of thinking sometimes, he's a lot wiser than you'd think, even with his outdated thoughts. He has insights that have worked for years upon years, and that's why he does so well. He's experienced. So, eventually, I hope we'll become the same, and teach new gamers how to play a game, how to relax whilst playing it, and to let it go when you lose. Don't get salty, because, in the end, the player trying to make you angry is likely angry or upset, themselves. To make it all short and sweet... Listen to your elders, even in gaming. Because they've been around long enough that they've seen all the patterns. And relax. If TF2 is going to die, then so be it. There is nothing we, as gamers, can truly do to stop it, should Valve decide to shut it down. Besides, for the time being, the game is not going to die. It makes Valve too much money, and they'd take... I think it was 27% or similar? ...We'll go with that. 27% of their profits away if they shut it down. So, rather than whine, just learn. That... *AND GET ON THE FREAKIN' OBJECTIVE!!* Thanks, and have fun~
hmmm never thought about that...intresting tho...and if you do that...and other things that MatPat does...diet coke...yep i found the answer:MrP has skill cuz he plays since the game was free 2 play
I would dare to say that this is MrP at his best in terms of video-making. The stories are engaging, the lessons are truly telling, and the presentation and timing could not have been better. In a day and age where we gamers like to create controversy, it helps to have some sensible people out there like MrP to show us that, in spite of everything, it's all gonna be okay in the end. Thanks MrP.
I hate the dead ringer i can never use I'm too bad at it ,and my best friend always gives me a hard time for not using it I prefer the cloak and dagger. My best friend likes to play spy incorrectly he charges in with an ambassador or stock revolver, Dead Ringer and stock knife and sapper. And when he takes too much damage from somone he nopes out with the Dead Ringer this is how I would see the dead ringer as a crutch it gives you a second chance for doing something terrible. My friend claims he is a spy main I claim he is just a top fragger Ringer main. He's never used any other watch or revolver longer than one match really. Always Ringer.
Playing a class a different way doesn't mean the tools are crutches, though. It's true that the Spy isn't *intended* for head-on combat as your go-to method of action - but if you choose to do so, even with a so-called "get-out-of-jail-free" card, you're merely half-filling a role that could be much better performed by another class. It's just putting yourself at a disadvantage. Keep in mind that I'm not trying to criticise your friend for their playstyle - one of the amazing things about TF2 is the fact that you can do pretty much anything, no matter how goofy - and get away with it. For example, even if you're a Medic with the Syringe Gun fighting a full-health competent Soldier, you still have a chance to beat them - and if you do, you *deserve* to win, because you had the disadvantage but came out on top anyway. Point is, neither you nor your friend should really be criticising each other for how you play the same class - each class has so many layers, playstyle and opportunities which is what contributes to TF2's longevity.
The stigmas in TF2 are endless. Just like the Pyro is a no skill class, along with spy. My main class is Spy but I do like to have fun with Pyro every now and then. The abuse that comes along with it is a put off. It sort of stops me from holding down W or M1 and makes me feel I have to airblast and flare. My conclusion is that ANY GOOD player of ANY class, is "annoying", not just the Spy / Pyro class in general
The most stereotypical thing in pubs: The Pub Push: Will barely play the objective the WHOLE match until overtime, and panic. Every now and again this WILL work, the other 90% of the time they will fail miserably. But why do people think "Overwatch VS TF2" is a thing? They're both amazing games tbh. keep it up :^)
I heard some time ago that the Overwatch dev team decided to wait until they had more than 9 heroes to release the game, so that people wouldn't complain so much about the inspiration they got from TF2 Overwatch VS TF2 was always a thing and it was on their mind from the beginning.
I think that I got misunderstood here. They looked at their game and said to themselves: "People are gonna be annoyed about how much this looks like TF2. Let's create more content to separate them before releasing it". They were right, and did the right thing. I can't see how they are being pricks.
I thought when you said "Overwatch VS TF2 was always a thing and it was on their mind from the beginning." I thought you were talking about the developers WANTING the drama my bad.
Love the stealthy nature of the L'etranger with the Wanga Prick or Your Eternal Reward with the standard invis watch... Sorry I don't talk much about the loadout today as I instead answer many questions that keep poping up in many videos... Been wanting to tell ya'll the story about the first time I saw a dead ringer...
I can give You both of them for free but You need to provide me Your trade offer link... Oh and I have a question does You have the Steam Mobile Authenticator enabled on Your Steam profile? If not You gotta be wait for those 2 weapons 2 weeks ;(
I genuinely hate how both communities love throwing hate at each other as if their words mattered or anything. People need to understand that games can co-exist with each other and don't kill each other. Look at the Witcher and Elder Scrolls, not the best comparison but both series are extremely well made RPG game series that appeal to people with taste. Same goes for TF2 and OW, not everyone will like OW and not everyone will like TF2. It's merely preferance and people don't seem to understand this. I hope both hateful sides of the community truly see their own stupidity in hating each other one day.
11:48 "How long?" at least 4 years. It's 2021, going into 2022 and I'm loving both tf2 and your "How a Spy Thinks" series. Thank you for the content MrPaladin and keep giving us your wisdom!
@@keen283 still have a lot of work to do you have a preference for the channel is the NFL draft start time for a call back from the doctor yet but it they change as taip zvengiu the
This is a great video. I never understood the mentality that you could only enjoy one thing or the other. Playing only one game constantly gets boring after awhile, no matter how good the game is.
Thank you so much. I'm pretty sure a lot of people needed to hear this. Hopefully this'll stave off a few misguided cancer cells that follow the bandwagon of hating a similar game due to being similar in design. What's truly sad is that I've lost friends disagreeing over this subject. It's as simple as grasping the concept that gamers don't revolve around them, but what they themselves enjoy. Oh well. Their loss.
The dead ringer is actually an ok weapon in 2018. It rewards careful planning and strategy(and not immediately using it when hit) but can easily be spotted by better players.
Jack O'Shaughnessy Which is nearly a week, and before that it was a full week or so, everyone subbed to his channel for TF2 because we loved him for the gameplay he offered us, the TF2 legend and the SMG unboxing guy we called Muselk That started spamming Overwatch and not left both games to do other random games.
Honestly, the big reason I watch your TF2 videos is that, while they try to be educational, they are also really calm and relaxing and having some gameplay video where the guy just talks in a chill voice just makes the video way more enjoyable imo. a.k.a. You're the Bob Ross of TF2.
I got vote kicked for the first time today. I was playing the frontier justice and I was landing some shots. The enemy team said I was aimboting. AIMBOTING with a SHOTGUN.
Some month ago, I played on 2Fort, and in the red team (I was Blu), there were an Engi player, using the Null Core Cheat. He didn't build anything, just came to our base and killed us (he was constantly overhealed without a medic around, got an aimbot, a wallhack and a speedhack). We were able to kill him several time, it wasn't the issue. But we weren't able to votekick him. And for now, some weeks ago, I saw a Heavy cheating, it was funny to be honest xD He was "spinnin' 'round here" :engi: with his minigun, but this time again, we were able to kill and report him (just an usual Lmaobox user) But I know how you feel x') Yesterday, a guy reported me because I airblasted his grenades to him, so he conclued I was cheating because "it's impossible to have a good timing in this case", wtf xD
I've seen plenty of engie aimbotters. They usually use widow maker and increased crit chance for max damage, to go along with it. You sound fairly new, but please don't go into the mindset of "Only snipers and heavies can aimbot" because you become blind when they play other classes. Even demos and soldiers with aimbotting pills and rockets, prefiring around corners because of wallhacks, etc etc etc. Sorry you got kicked, but again, any class can hack, just try to remember that.
Back when I looked up "Team Fortress 2", you got me interested along with a few SFM Videos and other TF2Tubers and I knew that if I was to play the game I needed to know what I'd be up against. I may not have had the desire to play Spy since I am more of a "frontlines" fighter constantly dishing damage out but I still am glad I found your channel Also Paladin, the entire stigma probably started because of Muselk (the biggest TF2tuber) leaving for Overwatch and same with Star_.
I like the way you worded this... I will keep on playing tf2 to the day it dies but you won't hear a word of overwatch hate from me. Thanks mr. P, keep up the good stuff, it sure helped me in my future endeavors.
MrPaladin, great spy player with some wise words to say about gaming. I loved hearing your thoughts on this and I wish more of the tf2/ow community would hear it too. Here is to hoping your word gets out and stops the some how still going hate.
I admit, I used to be very hateful of Overwatch because when I had first heard of it I convinced myself it was simply a glorified clone of TF2 -- and it took me quite some time to fight that seemingly innate hatred and look into what the game actually was. While I may not enjoy learning about Overwatch as much as TF2, I have at least learned enough to stop hating it as I did before, and in its own right, appreciate it for what it is. Funny: I always hated judgmental people (over anything) yet I blindly became one myself. Humiliating, yet humbling.
Max respect to Mr P, as always! I love your take on gaming, your mentality throughout your videos, and especially your take on the matters expressed in this video here. Thanks for being a positive voice in the gaming community.
Great story Mr. Paladin. I love watching your videos. I was introduced to Uncle Dane's channel by my friend and the first video I watched was his engineer against spys. As a spy main I became more interested in your channel and I am not disappointed. Keep up the amazing videos!
ever since I found you I've been learning so much about tf2 and other games. you basically taught me how to play spy he's now my second main thanks to you I'm normally a scout main but it's good for a change. I also started playing overwatch a few months back and it's a great game I don't see why people fight so they have similarities it could easily be to draw in new gamers into the games just look at the horror franchise of games if you like one game example slender you'll be into idk fnaf or something, having a range of games I'd good cause just one game for each category would be pointless. I hope this helps in Your future endeavors
Mr. Paladin - Thank you for making this video. I personally LOVE playing TF2, Overwatch, Paladins, Titanfall 2, and Skyrim. I have literally HUNDREDS of hours in a lot of these games, and with the newer games, my hours are climbing with the old ones, as well. I really dislike it when people say "Paladins is an Overwatch clone", or that TF2 is a stupid game when they haven't played either for more than 5 minutes. Even I've been guilty of this, like saying that Overwatch copied a lot of TF2. I know that's wrong, and they only got inspiration from it. But there is like a big wall between people who play different video games. I really enjoy how you play multiple games and upload them. Video games should be something to enjoy and de-stress with, not argue about.
In all honesty, in this video, you have said every single thing that I have been wanting to say ever since all the hate between the franchises, however, I have never been able to put it into words. I thank you MrPaladin, for speaking for those who can't or are too afraid to speak their own opinions.
People don't like ow in the tf2 community because it's a game that feels like it's taking tf2's role and that more people are playing it. Also with you tubers starting to upload more ow than tf2, which happens all the time. People don't want the game to die. That's all
There isn't any one TF2 community though, there isn't even a communal forum. It's a bunch of disparate communities and individuals across the internet playing a game. Sometimes they wind up on the same servers but for the most part they all have their own servers and forums. What you seem to be talking about is your viewers or possibly the youtube tf2 community. And even then, it would only be a subset of that. You didn't mention where this was coming from but going off the wording and context of the complaints, I'm guessing you're getting a lot of negative comments in your overwatch videos. I've never watched any of your overwatch stuff, but going by the viewcounts of those videos vs your tf2 stuff, I would guess there are some people complaining in there. This isn't necessarily a tf2 thing, that's a youtube thing. I watch a couple of minecraft youtubers and they get the same complaints and questions. Whenever they upload a few modded minecraft episodes in a row people start worrying that they're giving up vanilla and vice versa. The 'tf2 community' has been around a very long time, it has seen entire franchises rise and fall.
Unfortunately, TF2's "death at the hands of Overwatch" is being accelerated or maybe even caused by SOME (not all) of TF2's members who obsessively force people to play TF2 and not Overwatch. Look at Star_. He liked TF2 and then he played Overwatch and liked them both, but some people bitched and whined until he just couldn't have fun putting up anything that wasn't TF2.
MrPaladin, every video I have ever seen of yours has been either fun, interesting, a learning experience, or just kind-hearted words of wisdom. I don't see enough of this in most of the TF2/UA-cam community, or really anywhere else for that matter. You just keep doing what it is you do best, and we'll all appreciate it.
I think the stigma at 9:30 is more "we shared this love but now they're moving on and I feel betrayed. I found them and followed them for this content and now they're not doing it anymore even though it's what I followed for." It's happened to me as well where I subbed to someone for a specific content and, after a few years, they moved to something different. Sucked because I loved this person's content, but it's their channel. So I just unsubbed. Didn't want to, but it was far healthier than giving them flak in the comments.
Awesome video Mr.Paladin. I just started playing TF2 about a month ago and have a great time playing. One thing that is really cool about it is the friendlys you see dancing in the back of the map, I don't think you could experience that in any other game. I really do understand why so many still play and love this game. I'm sure its hard for them to see it fade but they should be excited for new games that come out because if will them so many new experiences!
I was expecting a rundown of TF2 stigmas, but instead I got an episode of "MrPaladin's Nostalgia Trip". I'm not disappointed. Also, why did you type stigma's? You're not possessing anything; it's stigma*Z*!
He probably just had a brain fart. With many other people though there seems to be a common love for throwing in apostrophes whenever a word ends with the letter "s". They'll once read "this item's good", then later on they'll write "selling cheap item's" not knowing why there was an apostrophe in the first example. It looks fairly stupid, but it's also understandable. Heck, you probably see people write "spy's" more often than you see them write "spies".
This is why i love Mr. P, he understands what's going on. Honestly I'll never stop watching anyone for what they play. As long as I'm entertained I'll watch anything. Really nailed it home with how the community just ravages anyone who plays anything different, like STAR_ and Muselk. The TF2 community doesn't deal with certain changes from what i see, and that might be why people kinda chastise us for playing it. (Not counting the memes and toxicity) Either way, I'm here to stay, unusuals and all.
Well put Mr. P. Dunno why Overwatch still gets so much hate more than a year later after its release. I, personally, only play TF2 and Overwatch these days. I have no plans to abandon either of them. Even though I started with TF2, I get real sick and tired of people hating on Overwatch these days. I love both games equally, and as such, I play them equally. It makes me a bit sad to see such a wonderful game in Overwatch be nothing but a punching bag for criticism from many TF2 players. I don't know why people can't just accept that some people think this way, like me, and they are more like pitchforks and torches over someone like this. All of that negativity is pointless and results in nothing to gain in my opinion. Even I was a bit skeptical over the announcement of Overwatch, and like many people, I said that it did look like a TF2 ripoff, but that certainly isn't the case now that I've played it. Just my two cents on the subject; I love both games, and I could never afford to let one go for the other or lose both (that would be a nightmare).
Unfortunate, yet, so true. It makes me truly sad to see these people not give Overwatch a glance of interest and just agree with the general majority. Glad you responded, I don't get many replies from the actual owners of the UA-cam channels. Your videos helped me improve so much at Spy, and I really appreciate your enthusiasm for both games. Its always nice hearing your tranquil voice over your gameplay. Keep up the good work, Mr. P.
The same thing has happend to too many games, people forming opinions based on the group rather than research and experince, I've seen it a lot more recently with all the hate on Paladins saying it's an Overwatch clone. Good too see this community here still has some sensible people.
I also find that playing Overwatch has helped certain things for me in TF2 and vice versa. For example, I was terrible with aiming headshots with the Ambassador, and I usually only got them due to trial and error and random luck (or an oblivious Sniper). Playing McCree in Overwatch is very similar to an Ambassador Spy, and as such, I can usually hit headshots much easier now. I also feel like playing Scout has helped me improve my gameplay with Tracer, since you have sort of the same mentalities when playing both; you are a fast, high-damage at close range, mobile character with very low health who is very hard to hit and usually is on the flank attempting to annoy the bigger targets and harass and eliminate the weaker, squishier targets. I happen to main Scout and I usually play very well overall, often top scoring. Before, I was terrible at Tracer, easily one of my bottom 5 worst heroes in OW, but now, she is my best and favorite hero, and its all thanks to my skills at Scout in TF2 being transferred to her in OW. Now, I usually get gold medals and cards quite often as Tracer. Its beautiful how this is for me because it gives me more reason to play and practice both games.
Matt Patnesky the people who play tf2 and hate on overwatch have never played it (most likely) and are just plain ignorant and happy that way (and since being able 2 play again I haven't seen them so they are a loud minority) Overwatch players who hate on tf2 are e same thing but say overwatch for tf2 and tf2 for overwatch.
The deadringer is not OP Its just a weapon/watch that is uniqe Just like the phlog(yes ik that cancerous thing) give you critz for the price of no airblast But for the DR, it gives you a "get out of jail card". The price? You must have a full cloak before you can use it and loud decloak sound So why say DR Op? You just cant equip the Dr, walk out of the door, do nothing and expect to get god-like? Heck even invis and C&D is also op Use it correctly and get long killstreak I'm done here Hope you understand :D Have a nice day
Yes, it has negatives, but it's negatives do not outweigh it's positives. It is in that sense that it is overpowered. Not because it's the end all be all watch of all time, but because it's just too much reward for not enough investment. The cloak is fairly easy to refill, despite the mechanics against that, and the boost gives you more options to find ammo to refill the watch with. Along with that, it is a very easy item to use, and a hard item to counter, which makes it very frustrating and unfun to play against. Having to swat a Dead Ringer spy away multiple times doesn't take any skill from either side. No one is outplaying the other. It's just letting the Spy get away when he does get outplayed, and that applies to players of any skill level. This issue was only made worse when the weapon got it's overall buff in Gun Mettle.
I would say that the DR is weaker than Stock or C&D except in specific circumstances. It baffles me that people legitimatley think it's over powered. Perhaps annoying at times, I'll grant that, but certianly not OP
Fucking amen about that whole "gamers playing a variety of games" segment. My favorite game genres are FPS, Platformers, Stealth, and Twin-Stick Shooters. I hate horror games, vehicle games, and hack-and-slash. Does this mean I *only* play Shooters, Stealth, and platformers, while insulting and belittling people who like horror, vehicles, and the like? *HELL TO THE NO!* Games are as varied as human beings, and they suit different tastes. They're just like music and movies; if you don't like one genre, don't listen to it, and let the people who *do* enjoy it, enjoy it in peace!
MrPaladin have you released the tips for spies because the first time i play the game i was so excited playing spy because of invisibility and backstab i was so horrible of spy back then and then i watch your videos i was really inspired tho after watching of your several videos i was getting better and better i was almost kicked because im a "hacker" while playing as a spy so keep up the good work mr paladin
MrPaladin and about the topic of your video about the stigma of tf2 and overwatch your the first tf2 youtubers saying "If tf2 isn't made so is Overwatch" imo i really like your videos btw and your my first tf2 youtubers keep up the good work
I love the analogy of Pokemon vs Digimon. I've been playing Pokemon for twelve years now, and while I didn't mind how people spent their time, some people got unnecessarily upset over the hobbies of others. Keep doing you, Mr. P.
The Spinach Inquisition People get too caught up in other people's business way too often. Especially when it comes to money. Take any article about how a person spent x amount on something, and there's bound to be a comment about how he or she could have given the x amount to charity. I really just wish people would learn to mind their own business and let people do what makes them happy, within reason.
While I personally prefer TF2 to Overwatch, I still think that the whole TF2 vs Overwatch debate is stupid., mainly due to one critical thing. Overwatch is yet incomplete, there is a possibility that things may change a lot in the future while TF2 has its core mechanics established, and has been around for a LOT longer. Who knows, maybe Overwatch will become as popular as TF2 one day, maybe it'll die out, maybe one day TF2 will die out, who knows? The way I see it, you can enjoy both, one or the other, or neither. The only caveat is not being a dick about it.
AgroW 1) Even if I get an Australian Nationality I will still be unable to be part of the Australian Master race. You have to be born Australian, in Australia, with an Australian accent. 2) A calculator makes it too many buttons to use when I'm playing TF2. I tried it once before when I was Spy and I somehow ended up on a King Of the Hill server when I should've been playing payload. 3) Is TF2 a profession?
ive been watching you for so long you're the one who made me wanna main spy and i hope you will never leave tf2 my biggest dream is to get a hat crafted by you 😉 keep up the good work!
I am a young guy (Using someone else's account) and, although I cannot speak for others, I can confirm that I myself have never once in my life played an online multiplayer game other than than TF2, and TFC, the latter being very few hours and only as per the suggestion of my older siblings who played it during the end of its prime. I truly love TF2 and it will forever be my standard for a good game. If it is not TF2 then it doesn't meet those standards. I know that is a strange situation and opinion, but it is what I uphold.
I watch your videos because I'm a Pyro main and, man, there's no better satisfaction IN THE WORLD than foiling a Spy trying to trick stab me like waiting on the bottom of the stairs while he jumps backward expecting me to still be following him, HÁ!
this vid brough a tear to my eye i have always played an enormous variety of games constantly from my first consolve the wii my first video game 2 years before in 2010, minecraft being 5 in minecraft man that was fun, playing my first round of tf2 in 2014 at 10, on my brothers laptop, being in this community for six years even though i never actually got to play until this year in 2020 when i got a pc, but knowing how to play very well because of the christmases where my brother would let me play for an hour or too and mainly people like mr p teaching me my fav class the spy and uncle dane showing me how to play the engi and my brother teaching me to rocket jump and demoknight this is my favorite game ever made but not nearly the only one i play so much variety and its sad when people only stick with one.
I treat Overwatch like how I treat basketball and football. It's not an interest of mine and it's not my "cup of tea" per se, but I realize that others are interested in it and that it has a community of its own, and I respect that. I may be a new (ish) Team Fortress 2 player, (Aug. 17th 2016) but in the relatively short time I've played TF2 I've gotten super attached to it, by which I mean I play more TF2 than any other game. I like TF2 due to it being unique, and while you see specific characters in other FPS games, the personality of each mercenary makes each of them unique. I realize that TF2 probably won't last forever, but I thought "If this game came out in 2007 and a lot of people are still playing it, then it must be for a pretty good reason." Admittedly, I was afraid that Overwatch would snuff out TF2 completely, but I was relieved when I realized that TF2 was getting more attention than it had ever gotten for a while. I learned in my playtime that TF2 makes it so you don't have to spend money on it, it grants plenty of content, it's goofy but it takes skill, and it goes in a completely different direction from other FPSs, and most importantly, it's still fun. This was a really long comment, so if you got down here then thanks for bothering to do so.
When MrPaladin telling his first story of encountering DR. It reminds me the same thing except my first class is Soldier. I also went to 2Fort the first time I play TF2. I killed a spy, I thought it was dead I was happy to get the kill, but suddenly. Boom! Backstab and the story went on until I finally found out it was a DR
5:35 I think I remember reading something about 'feigning death' in Q(W)TF/TFC... well you can't expect people to remember everything (I'm not sure if the Spy-Cicle was better or worse after the rebalance but...)
The only reason that tf2 players dislike overwatch is because Star_. Tf2 players looked up to Star_ and he supposedly "abandoned" them to just stream Tf2. I've grown to accept Overwatch, but I certainly will not rag on youtubers for playing different games. Sorry for the long comment and thank you Mr. Paladin for addressing this.
Wow... bringing that up about games coming and going and thinking about TF2... I've played it moderately for so many years I can't imagine one day it being gone.
Mr.P I agree with what you say. You have the choice to do what you want. You have so much support and gamers. We shall all not fight on what game is the best or which sucks. Just play what you want and when you want. I enjoy both Team Fortress 2 and Over-Watch. I never liked when people make a big deal about things like these. I just love to play and see who has skills. Its always nice to find people that play just to play. Not to judge one game cause they think another is better. You have made a great point. Great video Mr.P I hope you inspire more people as you inspire me.
3:35 I might send this part to anyone who thinks that TF2 being F2P is bad since I never really took into account that it originated as a free mod for Quake(World) until I realised that it was released to the public as shareware and its engine's source codes were released under the GPL.
*something going around about Sir Stanger's video on the Dead Ringer*: in a nutshell, if you get used to it, it is harder to play Spy any other way - a bit like the Original for Soldier.
Amen, Mr. P. As someone whose tastes change constantly but irregularly, I get it. I understand why people would get frustrated when someone they watch doesn't keep up with what they're interested in because it happens to me all the time. But that's kind of the beauty of this medium, isn't it? If one person isn't hitting my groove that day, I can watch another. I mean, yeah, it's true Muselk doesn't upload a lot of TF2 nowadays, but that's okay. I can watch guys like Soundsmith or Uncle Dane for TF2 jollies if I want that. Or if I'm not feeling up to TF2 today, I'll watch someone like Yuro for World of Warships, or TH3 B33F for Mechwarrior. Now more than ever, variety is at our fingertips and we have every opportunity to reach out and find more of it. Zenomite said something interesting not long ago. To paraphrase, 'don't rely on UA-camrs to validate your opinion.' To elaborate on it, I think a lot of that last stigma you mentioned comes from this issue: people who don't have faith in their stance entrust it to more popular, well-known individuals to hold that stance for them so they can say "My opinion is the same as that of this community celebrity." When that UA-camr changes for whatever reason, that can often seem like a threat to the validation of that viewer's opinion. Some might perceive it as this person they like now telling them, the viewer, that they are wrong. I can't prove it conclusively, but I suspect that's where a lot of this backlash might stem from: viewers taking this change in content from UA-camrs and community contributors not as simple variances in moods for games but as some kind of personal attack.
Personally Overwatch made me come back to TF2 after a year of not playing it (i don't hate Overwatch by the way, i very much like it but it made me miss TF2), so i especially hate the tf2 vs overwatch mentality. great video, i like to see people speak in a meaningful manner about whatever it is they're speaking of, and i think you have brought up many great points and questions that definitely make this video worthwhile for TF2 players to see :D have a good day.
Your words meant alot to me tbh im still very young and I just started playing tf2 this summer and because of what you said I looked back and I was like "Whoa I sure did play alot of games...." Ive literally played games From call of duty 2 to Rts games like Red alert and Company of heroes then went back to play mario then to Play games in the consoles Then played the new cods then to minecraft then I left all that games and played tf2 While playing those games ive hated alot of their rivals and right now I hate overwatch what you said was really true right now people just fight about which game is better I even nearly lost my friend because of it but now we just sit on a chair and stare at our screens while playing tf2 (now to get out of the drama....) Thank you so much mr.p ive really learned alot from you especially from this video I hope you keep up the good work and one day I hope you would reach to a 1million subs thank you so much mr.p (FINALLY ITS DONE MY FINGERS ARE DYING!)
I like that this exists that it points out what everyone is guilty of doing... hating items because of their applicability, not enjoying games as games, and just having fun without the stresses. Also, I may not be a main of anything in tf2 but I would love to do those matador and side stabs. Every time I do it, it just ends up in my death.
I do think the Deadringer is annoying, yet can be countered. It's just that as an engineer it's kinda frustrating to have a spy you just "killed" come back to life and backstab you.
The Reason The dead Ringer is so hated upon is because once anyone sees a spy the whole team goes after him,They want him dead so much and its fair when the spy gets a second chance to get away.
My only complaint regarding the weapons that make a class change is the Trolldier setup (Rocket Jumper with Market Gardener, sometimes with either Manntreads or parachute if they have an Air Strike). Nearly all of those other weapons that change stuff up has either an Achilles heel or can be taken advantage of in the event the player doesn't do well which keeps them from being overpowered - the sandwich takes up your shotgun slot so you become helpless when you run out of ammo as a Heavy, the Razorback removes that middle weapon that can help a sniper deter a player when falling back once they get too close, and no amount of Dead Ringer damage reduction is going to keep you alive if you get hit from behind by a backburner. But a good Air Strike Trolldier is invincible. Was playing a match on Upward, probably my favorite map, and got my ass handed to me because the enemy team not only had better players but one of them was using the Air Strike and spammed it hard, clearing the field on several occasions - none of us had a way to counter it. My Sentry Gun may as well have been made of cardboard while I was playing as Engineer. If there's any one weapon setup that I would love Valve to give a nerf it would be Trolldier - I don't care how upset people in the Rocket Jumping community get, most of them use custom servers or are in Hightower anyway, they can find an easy fix.
Some of the things mentioned in this video makes me fear for gaming in general, but also TF2, I LOVE this game, and I fear what will become of it when it dies.
That... *AND GET ON THE FREAKIN' OBJECTIVE!!*
Thanks, and have fun~
^ This guy gets it...
Who the actual FUCK gave Mr Paladin shit for being old and liking games?
YOU PREACH
Age didn't kill C&C, bad decisions did. I feel like age is more likely to kill TF2 than bad decisions.

Wow, an observant Sniper who noticed the Ammo Box disappear. Impressive.
Yeah I caught that too.
Yeah, everyone needs to watch the health and ammo whenever they see a spy cloak.
Wait til you see the Pyro whose healtpack I stole
basically every game i ever play. i still think mr.p plays with people helping him follow a script.
hmmm never thought about that...intresting tho...and if you do that...and other things that MatPat does...diet coke...yep i found the answer:MrP has skill cuz he plays since the game was free 2 play
You forgot the greatest stigma in TF2: playing the objective.
"objective" what is this mystical new word?
Son of Tiamat did you know we had to push a "cart"?
JoJo8913 I've been enlightened
OMG you tryhard! Look at this guy playing the game... am I rite?
Every TF2 player is a genji main confirmed.
Thanks MrP.
Thanks for that responce. Means a lot to me.
Yeah true ,but he doesn't sap or do anything a spy should do. And a lot of people yell at him for the way he plays on servers.
Yes, that's fine. As long as they're not doing it in Competitive, all they're doing is putting themselves at a disadvantage.
"The Dead Ringer is a crutch" Any weapon can be a crutch, people just like to bitch about stuff.
The most stereotypical thing in pubs:
The Pub Push:
Will barely play the objective the WHOLE match until overtime, and panic. Every now and again this WILL work, the other 90% of the time they will fail miserably.
But why do people think "Overwatch VS TF2" is a thing? They're both amazing games tbh.
keep it up :^)
Muurdkaupp it is a thing, because they maje it a thing
I heard some time ago that the Overwatch dev team decided to wait until they had more than 9 heroes to release the game, so that people wouldn't complain so much about the inspiration they got from TF2
Overwatch VS TF2 was always a thing and it was on their mind from the beginning.
Some developers can be massive pricks, guess Blizzard's dev team for Overwatch is one of those.
I hope both hateful sides of the community truly see their own stupidity in hating each other one day.
actually that is a good example... Even with the games winning stellar awards like overwatch and TF2 have...
even the developer of Overwatch said TF2 is a better game and will always be one of the best games.
People living in glass houses (meaning their lives) should NEVER EVER EVER throw stones (hate.)
11:48 "How long?" at least 4 years. It's 2021, going into 2022 and I'm loving both tf2 and your "How a Spy Thinks" series. Thank you for the content MrPaladin and keep giving us your wisdom!

"If a youtuber uploads an Overwatch video, they will hate TF2 after"
Hum, sounds like Muselk.
Muselk uploaded both games for quite some time
MrPaladin But if you look at his channel now, he has yet to upload another TF2 video after overwatch Over-whelmed him and made him get sick of TF2
Ali Moonlight he did a tf2 vid 5 days ago
Jack O'Shaughnessy Which is nearly a week, and before that it was a full week or so, everyone subbed to his channel for TF2 because we loved him for the gameplay he offered us, the TF2 legend and the SMG unboxing guy we called Muselk
That started spamming Overwatch and not left both games to do other random games.
The solution is not to complain that there are not enough tf2 uploads to your liking. But to support the ones uploaded
The shotgun would be LESS effective with aimbot. It would fire your entire clip with 8 damage shots before you can get close.
My first vote kick was the other day for being idle while I was trading... smh
And for now, some weeks ago, I saw a Heavy cheating, it was funny to be honest xD He was "spinnin' 'round here" :engi: with his minigun, but this time again, we were able to kill and report him (just an usual Lmaobox user)
But I know how you feel x') Yesterday, a guy reported me because I airblasted his grenades to him, so he conclued I was cheating because "it's impossible to have a good timing in this case", wtf xD
Sorry you got kicked, but again, any class can hack, just try to remember that.
true, I didn't consider that.
Here is to hoping your word gets out and stops the some how still going hate.
i have the utmost respect for you as a person Mr.P ~ as a spy.. ..i fear running into you in casual
I think we all kind of learn how to do this at different ages in our lives...
You betcha I will
ever since I found you I've been learning so much about tf2 and other games.
you basically taught me how to play spy he's now my second main thanks to you I'm normally a scout main but it's good for a change.
Game. On.
This is such a powerful video. Nice job tackling some of these stigmas head on. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Your tutorials got me from 0 to... one? Well, but now all I need is practice!
In all honesty, in this video, you have said every single thing that I have been wanting to say ever since all the hate between the franchises, however, I have never been able to put it into words. I thank you MrPaladin, for speaking for those who can't or are too afraid to speak their own opinions.
I love how calm your voice is it makes my day happier thanks for making vids Mr. P
People don't like ow in the tf2 community because it's a game that feels like it's taking tf2's role and that more people are playing it. Also with you tubers starting to upload more ow than tf2, which happens all the time. People don't want the game to die. That's all
There is a right way and a wrong way to do this. The community picked the wrong way
MrPaladin ^^^^
I never thought a TF2 video could be so inspiring and welcoming. A standing ovation for Mr. Paladin!

Fixed the autocorrect from the title
He probably just had a brain fart. With many other people though there seems to be a common love for throwing in apostrophes whenever a word ends with the letter "s". They'll once read "this item's good", then later on they'll write "selling cheap item's" not knowing why there was an apostrophe in the first example. It looks fairly stupid, but it's also understandable. Heck, you probably see people write "spy's" more often than you see them write "spies".
Thought that was intentional; it was in the description too.
+GrautGraut
What is "spies"? I only ever see it written as 'SPAHS!'
I remember my first encounter with a razorback. I thought he had some anti backstab cheat running until he told me
Nice speech dude it made me think twice

People on the Internet love a hive mentality. If they think the group hate overwatch they want to jump on the bandwagon
Matt Patnesky the people who play tf2 and hate on overwatch have never played it (most likely) and are just plain ignorant and happy that way (and since being able 2 play again I haven't seen them so they are a loud minority)
Overwatch players who hate on tf2 are e same thing but say overwatch for tf2 and tf2 for overwatch.
All i could think of during this video was muselk. He doesnt upload tf2 anymore
The deadringer is not OP
Its just a weapon/watch that is uniqe
Just like the phlog(yes ik that cancerous thing) give you critz for the price of no airblast
But for the DR, it gives you a "get out of jail card". The price? You must have a full cloak before you can use it and loud decloak sound
So why say DR Op? You just cant equip the Dr, walk out of the door, do nothing and expect to get god-like?
Heck even invis and C&D is also op
Use it correctly and get long killstreak
I'm done here
Hope you understand :D
Have a nice day
^ this guy gets it
MrPaladin :)
This issue was only made worse when the weapon got it's overall buff in Gun Mettle.
the dr is shit
I would say that the DR is weaker than Stock or C&D except in specific circumstances.
It baffles me that people legitimatley think it's over powered. Perhaps annoying at times, I'll grant that, but certianly not OP
this video helped me play spy 4.7 % more effectively, thank you!
I also hate horror games, but I do occasionally enjoy the hack and slash of Diablo...
This is the kind of video, that made a single tear fall from me eye.
wait what. ur playing Tf2 and not owerwatch. Mr.p hates owerwatch confirmed, hes gona quit owerwatch. If u agrea u did not listen to mr.p
Lol thanks, I needed this one
MrPaladin have you released the tips for spies because the first time i play the game i was so excited playing spy because of invisibility and backstab i was so horrible of spy back then and then i watch your videos i was really inspired tho after watching of your several videos i was getting better and better i was almost kicked because im a "hacker" while playing as a spy so keep up the good work mr paladin
MrPaladin and about the topic of your video about the stigma of tf2 and overwatch your the first tf2 youtubers saying "If tf2 isn't made so is Overwatch" imo i really like your videos btw and your my first tf2 youtubers keep up the good work
MrPaladin i hope you reply :3
stop praising him mate
This is a well put message that gamers need to know and understand. Thank you very much for putting this out there.
tf2 is f2p and i dont have any money plus my pc is a potatoe so yeah tf24lyf
Paladins?
MrPaladin Paladins is a great game but I hate how they made crystals more harder to get.
+MrPaladin oddly appropriate to suggest Paladins ;)
I love the analogy of Pokemon vs Digimon. I've been playing Pokemon for twelve years now, and while I didn't mind how people spent their time, some people got unnecessarily upset over the hobbies of others. Keep doing you, Mr. P.
The Spinach Inquisition People get too caught up in other people's business way too often. Especially when it comes to money. Take any article about how a person spent x amount on something, and there's bound to be a comment about how he or she could have given the x amount to charity. I really just wish people would learn to mind their own business and let people do what makes them happy, within reason.
can you do a steel the intelligence please
you may have missed a few videos... I've done this a few times.
MrPaladin but i never seen you steel it
MrPaladin i have a story for you
willam afton correction to the comment
Can You Steal The Intelligence Please.
there you go
Edit: I Have No Idea Why The Word Stuff Was There
LunaTheVoidWanderer thanks, would you like to hear the funniest thing that happened to me yesterday wial i was playing tf2
I am completely garbage with the dead ringer and 500 times better using the invis watch
yep, its a completely different style of play
I too am shit with dr INVIS WATCH MASTERRACE
Yeah, I usually just go stock but using the l'etranger instead of the normal revolver
4 years later and im... feeling good again for all those stuff happening... tnx man
Mr Paladin is everything I aspire to be.
-Careful
-Professional
-Calculating
-Australian
Shame I'll never be any of those things
AFK man Well you *can* :
1)Get an Australian nationality
2) Use a calculator
3) Get a profession
AgroW
1) Even if I get an Australian Nationality I will still be unable to be part of the Australian Master race.
The last stigma, couldn't have said it better.
You're a genius.... it's the best advise from a gamer to me
This aged like fine wine. Overwatch? Not so much. Well, aside from the porn.
I watch your videos because I'm a Pyro main and, man, there's no better satisfaction IN THE WORLD than foiling a Spy trying to trick stab me like waiting on the bottom of the stairs while he jumps backward expecting me to still be following him, HÁ!
There's a thing about spies:
There is no middle ground.
Either you bad, or you're like Mr. Paladin and are incredible as spy.
this vid brough a tear to my eye i have always played an enormous variety of games constantly from my first consolve the wii my first video game 2 years before in 2010, minecraft being 5 in minecraft man that was fun, playing my first round of tf2 in 2014 at 10, on my brothers laptop, being in this community for six years even though i never actually got to play until this year in 2020 when i got a pc, but knowing how to play very well because of the christmases where my brother would let me play for an hour or too and mainly people like mr p teaching me my fav class the spy and uncle dane showing me how to play the engi and my brother teaching me to rocket jump and demoknight this is my favorite game ever made but not nearly the only one i play so much variety and its sad when people only stick with one.
I studied the team fortress wiki for nearly a year before I started playing this game.
I agree with everything you said about "crutch" weapons/loadouts
Except the dds, that really is a crutch
Amen, Mr.
Great message here, MrPaladin. I enjoy playing Team Fortress 2, Overwatch, and Paladins even though they all fall within the same genus.
Mr Paladin mentioned my childhood and didn't hate on it.
Thank you so much!
Your words meant alot to me tbh im still very young and I just started playing tf2 this summer and because of what you said I looked back and I was like "Whoa I sure did play alot of games...." Ive literally played games From call of duty 2 to Rts games like Red alert and Company of heroes then went back to play mario then to Play games in the consoles Then played the new cods then to minecraft then I left all that games and played tf2 While playing those games ive hated alot of their rivals and right now I hate overwatch what you said was really true right now people just fight about which game is better I even nearly lost my friend because of it but now we just sit on a chair and stare at our screens while playing tf2 (now to get out of the drama....) Thank you so much mr.p ive really learned alot from you especially from this video I hope you keep up the good work and one day I hope you would reach to a 1million subs thank you so much mr.p (FINALLY ITS DONE MY FINGERS ARE DYING!)
bill and ted...Be excellent to each other. Man that is childhood for me
every time you say "You're gonna have a bad time" I remember... unpleasant... memories....
The truth has been spoken... hats of to you mr.p for those kind game world saving words.
Mr.P, love your work. Any videos on how to sneak around? Invis watch always seems to run out and I would like to see a video on watch management.
Oh my god. That's pretty much my first tf2 experience. Play sniper, get stabbed by spy, wonder what shenanagins are going on with the dead ringer.
Love how in the video, the enemy team was so unaware or wasn't paying attention too much that he got 20 kill streak XD
Wanga pick is good at going unnoticed
The Spy master started his TF2 career by getting backstabbed. There's irony in that, I feel.
The other weapons you mentioned aren’t crutches but the black box conch absolutely is
