Spy paranoia is so underrated. You might have low kills in a game, but if you make players paranoid they won't have full focus on the objective and will go around looking for a spy that has clear view over where his enemies are looking, spy can be insanely effective. People not doing the objective looking after a spy is basically dead players.
BooMan it is to be wary but not overzealous in spy fever, if you hear a stab look for as long as they would be near, and be careful and watch for next time.
Dead Ringer has been overused to death, and In my opinion, is a gimmick that is neat, but becomes less useful against anyone who is experienced, Sure falsifying your death is a useful trait, but from what I can tell, any experienced player will hear it's decloak, even in the midst of combat, meaning a longer distance to cover to get a clean kill, and hence a higher chance of being caught, not to mention since you can't cloak manually and it activates upon the slightest trigger, more often than not, they can tell you're faking it. This is why I rarely ever use the thing unless the battle is *especially* chaotic to the point taking one step into the field even if cloaked means death
Thanks to you, I feel way more confident in the badlands now as Spy! I go into situations I would never go into while still trying to not be seen, heard or caught and well 70.5% of the time, it works! Keep it up!
Your videos are helping me. Thank you. I never thought it'd happen but I'm getting better at playing spy and going against spies. Seeing the gameplay makes the things we do as spies feel more routine. After watching you stab-n-sap engies so much, I'm probably able to do that too, now without a problem. I'm less terrified of dying and more functional with the class. I've started doing somewhere where I join casual mode and select a random class. I switch to another random class again each time I die. I'm hoping to improve in all areas and have my skills be more balanced than they were before.
I've been a spy main for about two of my three years on tf2 and even when I think I know it all you always manage to give me amazing advice so I just wanted to say thanks for that and good luck in your future endeavors
Watching this video made my KDR instantly go up: 0.66 to 7!! I got my first huge killstreak thanks to these three rules. I had been relying on the DR too much before this, but now I am seeing myself using more IW and CnD
This series is so helpful for new players learning to play spy. I'm not that new at the game but I fell as though I'm not very good at spy. granted I can get a decent amount of kills but most of the time it's only once every so and so lives. I also don't play spy too often because I want to have my team be more balanced. I always try to play the class that has the least amount of players on my team playing as unless that class wont be much help at all (Like an Engie pushing the cart). But when I do play spy, I often use the tactics I learn from these videos.
I learned A lot from this channel and the series. I even transferred some of the strategies to other classes like the scout and sniper (don't ask how that's my secret). I still go back and Whatch them to this day not to learn just to watch.
Learning sight angles and areas that rarely get used on maps has also helped me become a sneeeeeky Ninjaneer. It's amazing how much Spy play correlates to that. Several times I never even had to put a tele exit down, just wait in an area that never gets traveled and they just pass me right on by...
Dear, MrPaladin. I would like to say these are three rules that can apply to different play styles as almost all classes (Example: Medic). I would like to point that out but I think you did a good job explaining it with confidence. also you did a good job showing how to do all three steps. That sort of thing is very respectable and you show that very well. Keep up the good work. What I think you could also do to get better at playing spy that you didn't mention is to know your boundaries. The Spy is a generally squishy class. It's best to know when to go for something or when not to go for something. Another thing is to make sure to be aware of your surroundings, you don't want to get caught while escaping from the last time you were seen or heard. You want to also make sure that no one is around to spy check so that way you can make a clean get away and still do what you need to do as a Spy. Thank you for reading my comment. I appreciate it and I hope you have a good day. Sincerely, Mr. SpyMain
Yes, I know. But It is worth mentioning because newer people generally see your newer videos first. Not generally watching older videos. Not to mention practicing (Most likely mentioned). Thank you for the reply. (first time one of my comments wasn't considered spam)
I started playing tf2 again, and I sucked at spy... I decided to rewatch a few of ur vids and when I got to playing again I played better definitely... Not the best, but certainly better than before
I can just imagine We Are Number One, but instead of Robbie Rotten teaching his clones how to be villains, it’s MrP teaching F2P spies how to be proper spy mains.
I played spy a little earlier today, I subconsciously already had these rules in my head. From watching your previous videos. The thing is, you gotta be quick to make a plan and decisions. A split second too late and you could ruin your chance of getting a pick on say a medic.
Mr.P. it's always a pleasure to watch your videos on youtube. ANY of the videos. I appreciate them so much. Thanks Mr.P. Much blessings to you and your household.
These videos make me think of a game/mode where character sightlines are visualised like they have a UV torch on their heads and all surfaces have that glow-in-the-dark/fluorescent paint - looking at the map will make it increasingly glow, and the glow fades over time - as an invisible spy you'd go stand in the dark spots where no-one looks, but then the enemy would try to eliminate dark spots (like atop the rock by the blue spawn door on Upwards)
Thank you Mr. Paladin every day i watch your video's they help me be a better spy main & they make me laugh thank you and i hope this helps you in your future endeavors
I feel these tips are a lot easier to follow if running an invis watch or cloak and dagger. With a dead ringer it's harder to not get spotted since you cannot turn invisible until attacked. In order to use the dead ringer in the way it's intended, one has to be seen, not to mention the extremely loud de-cloak which is a lot harder to muffle.

Thank you. All I have to do if a Spy ever asks me how to Spy is tell them these three rules, as well as: a) Play other classes and develop gamesense b) Learn. To. Shoot.
Tip for mediocre-advanced spies: If you see an Engineer moving his gear up, and your using the diamondback, then wait for him to place the building and THEN stab. Also make sure your aim isn’t absolute trash when aiming the diamondback
I'd like to see a replacment for the disguise kit that allows you to copy attributes of the disguise, not just the scout's speed, but say you are disguised as a heavy with the gru, if you switch your disguise to it, you go faster with a mini crit icon (and probably take mini-crits), and while disguised as an enemy, you get some of the effects of things like the conch (so in that case, you would get the ring and speed boost, but not the healing from dealing damage, and you could get the speed boost of the whip, but still take damage, and if your disguise was say, a scout with the BFB you would be at the slower speed
People don't watch these videos to become a better spy as much as people who want to become better at countering spies Okay, seriously, good video though~
You are a teacher in spy you've gained the permits to teach. (P. S: we now know the pain of accidentally bringing up the console instead of the primary weapon )
I remember me and my friends in 5th/6th grade: *It's 3rd/4th class and we still have 1 or 2 classes left. This class ended early, so we're outside the school, sitting on a panel by the window.* ''If you touch me again, I'll go home!'' *Ralph:* ''Touch.'' *Leaves.*
Here's a tip that I follow all the time. Remember that Spy is a *support class* and you shouldn't expect lots of kills in one life, nor should you be greedy. Remember what your job is. Take your time and plan your moves carefully to be as efficient with your kills as possible to help your team the most.
Valve should add a trait to the kuni that when you are at a healing source like a dispenser or payload it should keep the amount of health you are at if you stabbed someone earlier.
This vid made me subscribe. I'm going to binge the rest. :D
hmmm, you are gonna need a lot of snacks... I apologize now about the audio in the older videos... it was a long time ago.
by the end you should have a degree in spy-ology
you should watch his how a spy thinks playlist, it's a tutorial
SlushieOfHats I just like his voice
MrPaladin DUDE NOO PROBLEM LADD XD
-Be polite.
-Be efficient.
-Have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
Huh,those rules apply to 2 classes in TF2.
spy has no need to be polite.
yep i am an engie. spy's don't like to be polite. they backstab EVERYONE AROUND.
MrPaladin
But he is anyway.
yep

MrMonster860 it gets worse when you realize that scout is spy's son
Agent Delta "Scout, stop touching me!"
He sounds like a 4th grader when he does that, and I love it.

Preach!
Wait so the biggest counter to spy is to not hunt spies?
BooMan it is to be wary but not overzealous in spy fever, if you hear a stab look for as long as they would be near, and be careful and watch for next time.
fr
Sometimes you don't even need to kill people, you just need to appear for a quick second to scare them with the threat of a spy.
Rule No.4: Don't get greedy
Rule No.5:Don't over use trickstabs
Jump over Huo long Heater flames (if possible), try to avoid pyros if they're checking, and try not to use the dead ringer.
Rule No.6
When there are 5 spies, don't be the sixth one
Holy Hill Dead ringer is good, why you hate on dr
because the dr is getting nerfed to the ground, lmao
Dead Ringer has been overused to death, and In my opinion, is a gimmick that is neat, but becomes less useful against anyone who is experienced, Sure falsifying your death is a useful trait, but from what I can tell, any experienced player will hear it's decloak, even in the midst of combat, meaning a longer distance to cover to get a clean kill, and hence a higher chance of being caught, not to mention since you can't cloak manually and it activates upon the slightest trigger, more often than not, they can tell you're faking it. 3 rules of being a Mr Paladin fan
1) you must play spy
2) you must be good at spy
3) you must not be rude
4) being good at math not required
Nicholas Ho but that's 4 rules???

Lol that joke took way too long for me to process ;) Nice one.

wow here from the start episode one of how a spy thinks episode 1 and Mr Paladin's first trickstab tutorial 😇 keep up the great work Mr Paladin
I thought the 3 rules were don't get a spy wet, keep him out of bright lights, and most important of all don't feed him after midnight.
I WAS IN THAT MATCH HOLY SHIT

Thank you for the kind words
Early fan here yo! I love how you play SPY Mr.P :DD
Thanks for teaching me these three rules Mr P.! I have been using them ever since you first mentioned it :)
"Don't get heard" Then my speakers cut out for 5 seconds. Starting to think theres a tiny desk spy in my computer :x
You know you're doing well as spy when the other team gets pyronoid.
".....sawr it...."
Gets me every time 😂
This is helpful since I am a spy main, and I'm not as good as other spy mains like you.But I'm getting to it too.But overall thanks MrPaladin.
Sirantis This is both helpful and annoying because I'm a Heavy main. Because I now know your tactics you french fuck.
Mr.p you have given us the golden rules about a spy. I wish you all lots of big backs and littel pyros
You are my Spy mentor. This is why I'm getting better. Because of you.
Nothing like a Mr. Paladin video before bed :)
Rule 4
Make every move you make sudden
Including
Looking intently at “teammates”
Moving towards “teammates”
Bring in suspicious places uncloaked
Looking afraid to take boolets
Look if someone isn’t sure if you’re a spy and they’re shooting you
Don’t do anything
If you pretend to not be affected
They’ll buy your disguise most of the time
Unless they’re sure you’re a spy, don’t react.
I love it when you reload and pull out a watch and there is three arms on the screen.
12:59 god opening the console happens so much more often than a non-spy player would think
I like how the scout in 14:00 bumped you so many times and didnt even shoot. Well, he could have saved some lifes
MrPaladin
The rules of spy. 0:31
It's like playing full stealth games, that applies as a spy in tf2.
Minus the other stuff, except the three rules of stealth.
1.) Can't be seen.
2.) Can't be heard.
3.) Can't be caught.
This video might just cure the world of noob spies
God bless Mr Paladin
Never have I ever left a Tf2 game for Mr. Paladin :)
Amazing advice! my game today saw technical improvement.
What is your most used loadout MrPaladin? I always wondered
I like how accidentally opening up the console just happens to everyone all the time
"leave me alone scout, STOP TOUCHING ME" -Mr Paladin
Yes, Mr. Paladin, Tomislavs spin up surely is loud enough to mask your decloack...
spining up also involves the heavy focusing elsewhere and firing the weapon...
"Aside from watching all my videos."
Oh, and also practice. It should go without saying that only practice really helps you get better.
I love how you make it look so easy...
Thank you. All I have to do if a Spy ever asks me how to Spy is tell them these three rules, as well as:
a) Play other classes and develop gamesense
b) Learn. To.
People don't watch these videos to become a better spy as much as people who want to become better at countering spies
Okay, seriously, good video though~
You are a teacher in spy you've gained the permits to teach.
(P. S: we now know the pain of accidentally bringing up the console instead of the primary weapon )
Thanks for another great video! Fine way to wake up today.
I remember me and my friends in 5th/6th grade:
*It's 3rd/4th class and we still have 1 or 2 classes left. This class ended early, so we're outside the school, sitting on a panel by the window.*
''If you touch me again, I'll go home!''
*Ralph:*
''Touch.''
*Leaves.*
Yes, this is from the ''Stop touching me, scout!'' part.
For some reason, this is what came up in my head when I heard him say that...
Is it weird that I've had overwatch running in the background for 20 minutes and I keep watching mrpalidin.
This usually only works with bad players, but on some maps you can basically loop around a certain spot over and over and get a whole bunch of stabs.
that poor heavy, he got killed by the same spy over 5 times
"He's very aware trying to cover his back, but he's on low health, i got a diamondback" :)
Mister Paladan, the very gud sneaky man!
Not enough subtitles :)
Good work, Mrpaladin
Here's a tip that I follow all the time. Remember that Spy is a *support class* and you shouldn't expect lots of kills in one life, nor should you be greedy. Remember what your job is. Take your time and plan your moves carefully to be as efficient with your kills as possible to help your team the most.
The enemy team every time MrP is playing:
"The answer? Is a Pyro. And if that doesn't work... use more Pyro"
I make baby pyros
Valve should add a trait to the kuni that when you are at a healing source like a dispenser or payload it should keep the amount of health you are at if you stabbed someone earlier.
