one way to check the main along with all that was suggested is to go up an incline or small hill that will make the engine work a little bit. If acceleration up the hill is worse than it usually is - your main is too lean. If acceleration is better than ever or better than it should be, your main jet is too rich. In fact, if you can go up the small hill/incline at speeds approaching your top speed on the flat, you are over-jetted.
Excessive four-stroking on a flat or on a slight downhill would suggest main is too rich as well.
hard starting when engine is hot, suggests main is too rich as well.

Hello! I have a Buddy 50 cc scooter. It runs great except for sometimes it hesitates a little in the sense that it will turn off at strange times when I am going lower speeds or it will not turn on..
In order to get it to turn on I carry a little screw driver and carb cleaner and I will take off the air filter cover and spray the intake with carb cleaner and put it back on. Then I go to start and it starts VERY good.
It was just brought to a shop who charge like $200+ for a carburetor cleaning and spark plug replacement.
The shop is called Boca Scooters…
I am NOT convinced that they did honest work but I don’t know know for sure.
I would like to have it turn on normally. (without having to have to spray the carb cleaner every time)
I believe that I need to work on the carburetor again or get replaced altogether OR get a valve adjustment. I would like to bring it to a different shop but I don’t know really where to start.
Gas is clean, premium used (50CC 2018 Buddy)
Carb JUST got cleaned but NOT positive they did honest work……..
    Spark plug all new.
Where should I start from here?

I have a 4 stroke, 50cc. Larger carb, aftermarket pod air filter and exhaust. I recently started having trouble with the engine not reaching higher rpms, this is all by sound, I don't have a tachometer installed yet. Do you think it's compression, exhaust leak, or maybe some trash in my carb? Air filter is clean, new belt and I've already checked my variator. I was thinking it's probably more than one issue. Oh, also stock cylinder, head etc. I haven't put a bbk on yet.

Getting into real tuning and you will need to know a lot more about the different circuits and the difference in needles, emulsion tubes, velocity of air flow, air density ect ect...
I'd like to see someone tune a 34mm flat slide to a full race ported 86cc AM6 for 80°F 30% humidity at 1,100 ft elevation 😂
Throw in some ignition mapping and then you will have my full attention 😜

I have a Super 8 moped I purchased for my daughter, it had been seized because of a faulty 2 stroke oil pump, the guy replace the oil pump and decided to get a 75cc big bore kit without getting the necessary jet kit for the carb (or so I am lead to believe), it has a sports exhaust and a sport air filter on it. Now my problem is that the bike starts perfectly, ticks over lovely then pulls away fine, then a couple yards down the road the bike just dies. I believe its the main jet thats the issue. I purchased a mikuni carb for it but when it arrived it was the push in variety not the bolt in sort. So I thought ok I will just swap the jets over.. No.. different thread sizes.. the mikuni is larger and will not fit. So I am a bit stuck now. I have both the idle and main jets pulled and in my hand (including the stem on the main jet), the idle jet reads as 35 (this is one long jet not a stem with jet screwed in) and the main jet reads as 85 (and is in a stem that it can be unscrewed from) however I have no idea what size it should be for the 75cc big bore nor where i can find out where to buy the smaller thread size jets from PLEASE HELP!! I am going INSANE!! Oh and I liked and subscribed (so please help lol). Also the bike is a two stroke. I also had a plastic disc that i put a hole in and put that in the air filter manifold (so as to restrict air flow) and this did help the bike rev more but it still cuts out. Awesome videos by the way, I am an old biker with a 1000cc Harley, but I know nothing about these scooters. However your video's are a great help. Keep up the great work!

In a situation like you spoke of, overheating, due to leaning out, you could restrict the intake / air filter slightly, causing the jet to be pulled harder, to richen the mixture.. They are many ways to do that, block half of the filter, by wrapping something around it, like a plastic bag, example a 30mm carb, with a finger sized hole should be a starting point, it will work in an emergency! Better than killing the engine...
