That’s the way I saw it Gabe. The Tour Edge really played the left side of the fairway a little too much for you. It was probably the shaft creating those strikes. Great work
You can tell how much effort you put into this and I truly appreciate it Gabe! Fantastic and can't wait for the final, I have been pulling for the Ping the entire time so hopefully it pulls it out!
While I was watching you hit those shots, I came to the conclusion that the Ping was the best club for you. You hit it higher, you could work it better, and you generally hit it straighter with less of a hook. You also liked the looks and the sound better than the Tour Edge. I would have been surprised had you come to any other conclusion at the end of the video.
I think resale value has to come into the value equation- the trade in on the tour edge is only $170 already compared to $280 with the Ping so from that POV if you aren’t going to keep it for a while it’s not a good investment. Otherwise great video!
Very entertaining video! I thought you would give it to the Tour Edge considering how poor the strikes were and how well it finished up in the fairways (or close to it). Maybe do the rest of the tests on another hole that doesn't have a bunker infringing on the fairway.
I have been a Ping player and fan of the clubs and company for twenty years. I hate to say it, sorry Ping. I think the Tour Edge Exotics has to be the best looking and sounding club of 2023. Great paring with this one Gabe.
Great job very enjoyable to watch curious why you continue to use that launch monitor its clearly way off on distance so curious the reasoning behind using it thanks for the great content
Unfortunately the launch monitor cannot take wind, fast and firm fairways, slow fairways, or other course conditions into account. But I like to include the numbers to give everyone a sense of the quality of the strike.
Great watch Gabe looking to freshen up the bag for the new season here in the UK and thinking of looking at the Tour Edge E722 Fairway what's your thoughts please heard they are really popular over in the states ?
Thanks for doing these two together. These are the two drivers that best fit my game. Even though you have picked the Ping, I will most likely go with the Touredge. For me I like the look better, not a tubular or fan.
Taking out the one that hits the cart path… Kinda of like switching players after a random drawing!!!! 😂 so sorry. Great video you making the best tech golf review videos on UA-cam!
Hey me again, Paul from PR, both Driver are awesome, that said I prefer the looks from the Tour Edge, by the way, have you had the opportunity to test drive the Tour Edge E722 Irons? I am planning to purchase a set, let me know what you think about the these Irons, I know that you test drive the compact version!!! Have a good one!!!😊
How was it close? I was pulling for the TE because I love their hybrids. But the TE had too much draw. The Ping looked much more controllable and a much better fairway finder. The TE was wild. Why didn't you use the C723 which may have had a more stable shaft?
Gabe. I think the Tour Edge properly fit for you would be a better driver than the Ping…..but I don’t think it will matter anyway when up against the beasts still in the competition. Great going.
Question ….. When you address the ball you do a lot of foot shuffling and such. Do you think that plays into fatigue and your tenseness, which can cause you to draw the ball ? And I hope this doesn’t come off with rudeness, I just genuinely would love to know why you do it?
Wait ... You're taking out a drive that hit the cart path from the Ping and didn't take one out that hit trees of the Tour Edge. When did they put cart paths in the middle of the fairway aren't they along the edge of the fairway ...you know where the trees are? If I understood you correctly taking one and leaving one in for the averages? Did you leave them both in for accuracy? Thanks Gabe!
I took the Ping that hit the cart path out when it came to average distance, because it bounded to about 300 yards and that's not fair to the Tour Edge. In terms of Fairways hit I kept it in as a missed fairway. The graph on screen will reflect that. The Ping that I thought might have hit the trees I kept in however, since I couldn't be 100% sure it hit but seemed like it.
@@LetsPlayThru gotcha thanks! Its not how far its how many. But....I think we are always trying to find it that magical mythical IT and that's the love for the game and game improvement. Which is why your channel is Soooo good! My handle for years over wrx was/is Yohanan from King Arthur and never ending search for the Grail. 😅
It often can. That device is good really for me to gauge club speed / ball speed / and smash. With wind and other elements in play, it's tough to know what the carry and especially total yardage will look like. Some times bang on, other times it can be off, but I like to include it just so folks get an idea.
I think the Tour Edge would have been great for you with the weight in the toe. Maybe would have cut down the draw a little bit and kept in more in the fairway
I have played the 430 with the 2.0 tour stuff and feel it is a poor offering as a stock shaft. Just my humble opinion. Upgraded to a Ventus blue 6s velocore and love it. Yes I know it’s exspesive but also I have a backup G425 LST with a Tensei blue 55 s that is pretty nice (except for sound). That shaft was a bargain. Ping needs to step up on shaft offerings to justify price of drivers.
Still waiting on a blow-out, but at this level, it’s not going to happen. So, you hit a tree and found a cart path and still put seven in the fairway??!! Tour Edge should be looking for a rematch!
They've all been so close. Really the only blowout was the TSR3 vs ZX5 MKII. Everything else, including the other semi-final match has been crazy competitive. What a great crop of drivers here in 2023.
I love shopping for the latest technology, except I hate paying current prizes. Prob going to stalk these clubs at various outlets or consider a used model that 2nd Swing offers
Gabe if it was NCAA tournament there would be suggestions of favoritism by refs. Knocking out cart path Ping ball but including tree hit ball not sure about fairness :) I enjoyed the video although compared to other drivers it seemed you had more errant shots
I play the G430 Max 10.5 driver in the draw postion. I use it with the G425 Alta CB 55/S shaft instead of the newer shafts. I like the 8 gram weight in the butt section. Seems to give me great dispersion. I absolutely love my driver now.
@@LetsPlayThru I play the G430 Max 9 driver in the flat -1 position. I use it with the Alta J CB stiff from Japan instead of the stock US shaft. I like the lighter weight shaft with the lighter weight grip. Seems to give me great long drives. Just drove 325 yds yesterday. Absolutely love my driver now.
I'm not sure which driver was better (leaning towards TE due to miss hits and still better length) but I know for sure I'm never buying a Garmin g80. Pleaseeeeee get a Rapsodo mlm 2 pro.
Ping got deducted the long drive that hit the cart path and Also he included the Ping One that stopped in the tree. So probably average is better with Ping. Also Ping hit the most fairways which shows it is much more forgiving. U could argue that ping has better value as you can easily sell it on. Not so with the Tour Edge
Probably right. In the first part of the video I was rushing because I was sandwiched in between groups. Might've caused a few errant shots. Both these drivers were amazing when it comes to forgiveness though, so would've kept me in play for the most part.
I know the TE is quite a bit cheaper than the Ping but I also think that the TE is a better looking driver than the Ping as well. I know that's probably the most subjective criteria in a club but for me if I like the look then I'm going to be more satisfied with the club longer than one that I really don't like. The club whore in me will be less prone to swap it out of the bag for the latest and greatest which will save me even more money. 😂
Well, I'll say this...you cannot go wrong with any of the drivers in the final 4. I'd gladly bag any of those. In the end, best you try those 4 out and see which sings to you.
lol another bad decision, the Tour Edge was definitely longer and more forgiving. You hit the Ping "on the screws" and it was only 7 yards longer than the Tour Edge on a very bad strike. Also, the few times you hit the center with the Tour Edge it was definitely longer than the Ping and so many bad shots with the Tour Edge stayed in the fairway or very close to the fairway. Disappointed with the decision and I am not a fan boy of either brand as I play Mizuno STX.
Sorry you feel that way. This was an excruciatingly difficult choice to make, but I stand by it as it's the best choice for me and my game. You mentioned the times the Tour Edge won out on holes, but there were just as many where the PING came out on top with similar strikes. It was so close I couldn't even do it on the golf course, I had to go back and rewatch every shot after to decide.
Ping should have won by more pts to be fair. Value goes to Ping as u Will not easily sell the Tour Edge. As forgivness goes which was in the title Ping was far better. Had he kept the cart path ball and talen out the Ping tree ball then Ping average longer. Another great video
The new TE 725 series (including their 10k e725) will be selling for $399 this week, and Ping g430 is now down to $399 in most stores, possibly partially in response to TE’s pricing pressure. TE has more adjustability built in. TE also should be credited with producing tour quality, cutting edge tech while keeping pricing 30% lower than Callaway, TM, and Ping, making it tougher on the Big 3 to continue their (coordinated?) relentless march upward in price. With test results like this video showed, more golfers will put TE in their bags, and we may see an end to increasing driver/club prices. After all, you can get a quality fitting session and custom shaft with a TE driver for about the same price as an off the rack offering from one of the Big 3. Knowing you are swinging the latest tech while optimized for spin, launch, accuracy, and distance should give you more confidence on the tee box than staring down at any logo from any company. There simply isn’t a better value proposition in terms of lower scores for a lower cost than TE today.
That’s the way I saw it Gabe. The Tour Edge really played the left side of the fairway a little too much for you. It was probably the shaft creating those strikes. Great work

Another great video. Much more relevant to the average golfer than the tests with players who swing at 115 mph.
Thanks, appreciate it.
The Ping is definitely nice but I personally think the Tour Edge is a better pick. Especially considering it’s price !

This is so true. Tour Edge will be hard to sell so the difference in price is just upfront.
