Love that hike.... Taken it both ways. The switchbacks from Old Man lake to Pitamakin Pass was in full bloom (August). Best floral display I've encountered in my 35+ years hiking and climbing in Glacier Park.
@@whereivebeenwandering it's a consideration. In all my years hiking and climbing, I did find certain places at certain times offered up some gems. Another Two Medicine area gem is an early season hike to Scenic Point. When you get to the last saddle, the snowpack blocks the trail. Just scramble up and around and head to the viewing spot (it's obvious) and the look back into the valley (west) is spectacular, especially when juxtaposed against the open prairie view looking east
I went to Glacier once or twice a year from 1988-2000, but never hiked this trail. I’m a stone’s throw from 70 now, but may have one good hike left. If not, I’ll be watching your video frequently.
I think if you pick a good day, train yourself up and take the boat in the morning to cut off some miles you could do it. If you take the boat in the morning, you’ll have the rest of the day to hike at your leisure. Take lots of breaks and enjoy the views along the way.
@@whereivebeenwandering recommend the triple crown at Glacier National Park in Waterton Park, CN. The triple crown is the Crypt Lake Trail, Carthew Alderson Trail, and the Akamina Pass Loop Trail. It will blow your mind.
Thanks for the great video. It helps me a lot. Is there any steep drop offs from trailhead to Pitamakan Pass? I am afraid of height, so I plan to hike to the saddle between oldman and Pitamakan lake and then go back the same way instead of doing the loop.
Not really. There are some steep slopes on the switchbacks up Pitamakan but no drop offs. The trail is plenty wide so that should help you if you are afraid of heights. You could just keep on going up to Dawson where there is a great viewpoint as well and then turn around from there or see if the trail is doable for you. 🙌🏻
Love this so much! Great work! Where did you all eat after?
We went and ate the best steaks ever at Summit Mountain Lodge. It was a bit of a drive from our motel, but totally worth it
We also had one of our best meals at the two sisters cafe. The shank was incredible and the huckleberry pie is to die for 🤤

Oh wow! I wish I could have seen the flowers there. We hiked in September so wildflower season was past

Wow! I will put this on my list for when I go to Glacier National Park.
Have fun! It’s incredible
Fantastic views.
Thanks!

Beautiful, informative, and enjoyable! Great job!!
Thank you so much
Looks so pretty!
The mountains are my happy place
That's why we went up the Dawson side and down Pitamakan side. Easier on the knees. Incredible trail.
Next time I’m totally doing it that way

@@roadhog6603 oh nice. Ok I’m putting that on my hiking bucket list
Yikes! The trail on saddle gives me the willies just watching the video.
It’s wider than it looks! Great views from up there though
Very nice video! Thanks for posting. I'll have to do this hike sometime.
Thank you! It’s a great hike
Looks amazing, great video.
Thank you
So the trail is well maintained?
Yes, it was very easy to follow.
Looks like a great hike.
The ledges are the craziest
You always have amazing places in the videos and you elaborated everything so nicely! Great video my friend 🔥🔥
Thank you! I try to make it as informative as possible while also keeping it fun!
This was great, thanks. You said that this hike is in your top 5. What are the other 4?
Half Dome, Lake Ohara Alpine Circuit, The Narrows, Machu Picchu
May I ask what selfies stick and camera you use to shoot this video? So awesome and pretty!
I used a go pro and a 360 camera

We could have been a bear snack!
Nom nom so tasty
What an incredible day of hiking with spectacular views! Count me as a new sub :)
Thanks! Probably one of my favorite hikes ever! Are you planning on hiking it anytime soon?
@@whereivebeenwandering Glacier is one of my favorite National Parks, and may have to plan a trip there for next summer as it is so spectacular.
