My sister is in the hospital right now with end stage cancer. They have her heavily medicated due to the horrific pain that she is suffering. The medication has her dreaming most all of the time now and she talks in her sleep about things that don't make a lot of sense to the rest of us in the room at her bedside. I like to think that she is dreaming of all of the good and wonderous things that our minds can imagine. This beautiful song with Joni's angelic voice sums this up perfectly for me. I hope that my sister is seeing all of the peaceful beauty, while I am seeing all of the pain for her. I'll never be able to hear this song again without thinking of my sister and her brave fight.
Wow.. tears in my eyes..I listened to this song since I was a young girl and now with the perspective of a 63 year old woman. “Something’s lost and something’s gained in living every day “… the wisdom and maturity Joni had in her early twenties when she wrote this song is truly amazing. There’s simply no one else like Joni Mitchell ❤
THIS is the version I remember--and always loved. Praying and hoping for the best for you, Joni. May God and the angels stand guard over you, songbird . . .

No fancy light show, no special effects, no back up singers, no dance routines... Just an amazingly talented girl & an acoustic guitar. Priceless.
Legendary song. Saw it recently featured on the Irish film 'Flora and Son'. Timeless

There are songs that deepen over the course of your life. I didn't get this song when I was a kid. I'm 53 this year and holy shit do I get it now.
