    Ok, later I would raise it onto cement block in each corner and a thin 1" thick piece of wood. We did it with two jacks on the end corners and got it done. Then we are coming back with regular bricks to go alone the sides and front and back to keep varmints out from getting under it. So far so good. My step son gave it three coats of reflective white paint. Wife, Sue gave it the last coat a week ago. Five vents to install and later paint it to blend in to my trees. End of the month going to build a 2x6 board ramp that I can pickup and put inside when not needed. All my solar generators and batteries will be inside and mounted. Panels out back too. Then trench to the cabin 30' away to give it power.

    Container makes a decent small workshop too. We didn't have gravel or concrete for our container. Instead, we placed a railroad tie under each end to get it up off the ground. The are built to be supported at the corners nly, so one tie on each end did the trick. $20 each at the local hardware store. Be well!

    A couple of farm jacks and another hand can lift these enough to set blocks or move them a little bit if needed. I did it by myself to get a 30 and 40 footer lined up for welding.

      I can't get a farm jack to work at all. It won't get under anything to lift from unless I dig down and the soil is too soft to support the jack. I tried concrete blocks but they just cracked and failed. There is also a lip on the end of the jacking surface that is supposed to prevent slipping but there is nowhere on the container to lift without the lip coming in direct contact with the container and forcing the farm jack to lean forward and then come in contact with the container. It is a hot mess.

      @@LDSreliance hmmm. I just stuck mine into the pocket hole(from the side as it won't lift the entire length) I let the jack beam rest against the container. A piece of 4x4 would keep it from scratching if you are worried about that. I have some time next week if you want any help. I can bring my jacks.

      Well I don't need to lift it again right now. I was able to get it leveled to my satisfaction. But I am sure it will settle a bit over time the corner I have propped up may sink down into the soil a bit. So I will try again in the future.

    I am a big fan of yours, been watching the news I hope you didn't get flooded out. Understand that the Dallas Fort Worth area had extremely bad weather. How you doing?

      Yes, it has rained off and on for a week. It has been crazy. It has delayed my plans but everything is fine! Thanks for checking in :)

    Sadly shipping containers aren't allowed in many places.

      Yes, that is a shame. They are the perfect storage shed or small garage for ATV's and small equipment. Some people may find them ugly, but that is subjective. I personally find electric cars ugly but that doesn't mean I'm going to try to pass legislation to prohibit them.

      Yes, they are about $2300-2500 plus delivery in most places around the DFW area. The exact place I got mine from is called Cactus Containers in Decatur, TX. I also got a quote from a statewide company that was going to charge me $2600 including delivery anywhere in the state of Texas. I can't remember the site name. Maybe because Houston is a big shipping port there are lots of containers here? I don't know.

      @@LDSreliance how was your experience with Cactus Containers compared to XCaliber Container?

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance  12 днів тому +1

      @@handle924 I have only done business with Cactus so I can't compare the two. But they were great. The driver was patient and understanding with my crazy entry and exit to my property that really wasn't conducive to a 40 foot rolloff trailer. But we made it work. They also were totally willing to show me the exact container on the lot so I could inspect it before putting down a deposit.

    How much did it cost you to build the shelves?

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance  12 днів тому +1

      It was about $150 in materials for the two units that I built.
