    Good luck.
Tread the land, get to know it and place the water well, then plan the build from there. Next will be your solar placement.
Everything from there should be plain sailing.
    Just enjoy it.

Don't combine an RV with a gooseneck hitch. Yes there are adapters, but the RV frame is not built for that kind of leverage and they will crack, faster if pulled on rough or off road. Put a proper RV hitch on your truck or stick with bumper pull and a weight distributing hitch if needed.
Good luck with the new adventure.

Sorry, I didn't see this comment before. I won't be getting a fifth wheel. I do have a gooseneck hitch on my truck but I don't want to deal with the extra expense and hardware involved. I'm just going to get a travel trailer (bumper pull) like you suggested. My truck is a 3/4 ton so it will easily be able to handle the weight, especially since it won't be moving around very often.

Will you be building a house? I plan on using one of those modular homes like what box'able is doing. . That way I just add new portions to the home after I pay off each one..
So it's pre-built in a factory and depending how much you buy dictates how big your house gets. You can buy a basic one that just has the living room a bedroom and a kitchen, and then you can buy a garage one and connect it. And then you can buy additional rooms as well

Yes, I will be building a house in the future. I'll probably go barndominium but I haven't decided anything for sure.

Yes, that would be cool! But my kids have some unique needs that I will talk about later in the video series.

Welcome to the war! We moved from OKC to rural Colorado and have been slowly building an off grid homestead for four years now. Our shoulders are yours to cry on if you even need it. :-) Sorry to learn about your divorce. Decatur TX is not a bad area.

Nice! There are a lot of people doing it. Very quietly doing it. Not like the van lifers haha. What part of Colorado?
