I like Pursuer, Ruin Sentinels, Executioners Chariot, Smelter Demon, Looking Glass Knight, Velstadt, Darklurker, Sinh, Fume Knight, Sir Alonne, Aava, Burnt Ivory King I think each of these bosses are much better than most of what I consider "good" bosses in DS1. DS1 Level was a masterpiece of design and map design. However, as you mentioned, the second half of the game sucks, even worse than the entire DS2. DS2 gave me the feeling of a more personal adventure, and I don't know why, I think this game has similarities with Elden Ring. I can even say that DS2 is the ancestor of Elden Ring. DS2's unique themes make it more like Elden Ring than other Dark Souls. I think this game is better than DS1, it's definitely not the best souls game. DS2 was last true souls game and DS3 was the last game in wich we had at lest something from the souls genre. Everything else, Elden Ring, tonnes of indie souldlike games, bossrushes etc is not a souls games. They not bad games by any means biut they not the same genre as DeS,DS1, DS2 and Bloodborne.
Ds2 is and will probably be my favorite game until I die, keep in mind these games arnt about the boss fights or the cool sword you find, it’s the story and adventure
17:21 "It was a form of marketing as back in the day as the series was known for having epic bosses." Except, wrong. "Back in the day" Dark Souls was *not* known for having epic bosses. Boss fights only became a focus of the series with Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3. Demon's Souls and Dark Souls were far more about exploration and resource management than bombastic boss fights.
Yeah I don't really put base game DS 2 that far below DS 1. IMO DS 1 has some higher highs but also lower lows. DS 2 has nothing as bad as lost izaleth for me outside maybe the snowfield which is completely optional thank god. And it isn't until BB and DS 3 that the bosses star to become a bigger highlight for me in these games. (THough they do both have some good ones especially when counting the dlc.)
DS2 imo at least on the base game has the lowest highs. Maybe is because im a fan of complex boss fights though. Is basically the same reason why im not impresed with Midra and think is kind or overrated, the move variety can be very limited, and on bosses like Ancient Dragon or King Vendrick are a chore. And both diff relies on stats which is not my favorite thing.
@@JoseViktor4099 Again, I don't think they are good, but they are better than whatever ds1 bosses were. Most of ds1 bosses is just big hitbox that barely does anything. I do think my biggest criticism for Midra is that he is way too easy to punish. But even then it looks cool, music, lore is cool plus you can do some interesting stuff like crouch when he spins. But he's definitely more of a ds3 boss than an elden ring one (which is a negative for me).
I enjoy DS2 and I have hundreds of hours in it. That being said my opinion is that it is easily the weakest in the series mostly due to the control and movement feeling. I cannot enjoy any of the boss fights as the character movement and hit detection takes away from every combat experience. The best way I can describe it is it just feels "off". As a bit of background, I began with DS1 on PS3. I then became obsessed and went through Demons Souls whilst waiting for DS2 to release. I was watching every gameplay video and trailer and looking at screenshots. I was so hyped it was unreal. I'd like to point out that I had no idea who Miazaki was, I had no idea there was a big discrepancy in staff team working on the game. I was not influenced by those things and was just excited for more Dark Souls. Within seconds of finally buying it on its release day the feeling of control, sluggish movement, hit detection and off looking art style just made me sad. I came to love the game over time but I can never truly enjoy it as much as any of the others in the series.
I've played every souls game. I've beaten every game at least 10 times. Each one up to ng+7 Call me weird, but I love 2 just as much as the others. It's different, yes. But I won't say that this is not a brilliant game that I replay multiple times a year.
I do like Darklurker. Just a shame what you have to go through to first unlock it then for each attempt. I hadn't really thought about it before but yeah I don't think ER 'does' have any good duo bosses off the top of my head. None of them feel like they were designed to compliment one another IMO the way O&S in Dark Souls were, or the Shadows of Yarnham as a trio boss in BB. In ER it always feels like they have to pad their mini dungones so.... here's two Crucible knights, here's the Godskin Duo, here's two of these statue things. Often just pairs of highly aggressive enemies designed to fight solo rather than a pair of bosses designed as a duo. It's one of the things that frustrates me about ER and I feel I'd like ER a bit more if they say cut the world size in half so they'd have to do stuff like that less often. (I haven't gotten around to Shadow of the Erdtree yet to be fair so I can't judge those bosses yet.)
DS2 bosses are painfully boring compared to later titles. All quantity and little quality. If Elden Ring is what happens when they go overboard and give every boss a dozen roll catches then DS2 is what happens when every boss has slow, telegraphed, and BORING movesets. And even if DeS and DS1 are guilty of the same thing at least the number of bosses aren't bloated like DS2 is.
You have probably gotten this comment already but the last giant is the giant lord so ofcourse there moveset is gonna be similar because there the same enemy its just one is from the past and the other is from the present and you didnt really have a good argument on the giant lord yes it is similar to the last giant but its not even as bad as you made it sound and the last giant isnt as bad as you said and how were you fighting the last giant and giant lord from the front or behind because the behind is more fun to fight against on the last giant but the front for the giant lord is fun but not to go against and the sword is cool not as cool as The Persuers, Sir Alonnes and the Fume knight magma look sword (last part is just up to preferred looks) if there is anything else I dont see as fair or like I will add to this comment
