It came to me one day in Jerksville
Man, I was right on the edge
That jacket’s too small for a man of your size
And those socks are too big for your head
My eyes glaze at whatever you say,
But I’m listening, do tell me more,
It goes under the bridge, right over my head
And out through my portable door
I was trapped in a dire situation
Between reason and someone-in-law
The winner takes all and runs off with the ball
Nothing could pleasure me more
Times were, I’d have spoken my piece
For a minute or two held the floor
But I can’t get a word in so here I am hurtling
Right out through my portable door
The jabbering’s hurting my brain cell so bad
For once in my life I am bored
The public house beckons, I follow the call
And slip in through my portable door
The unlikely event came upon me
I wasn’t prepared for the shock
Once round my neck and twice round the deck
And the rest disappeared up the block
So here we are and everything’s changed
Faster than ever before
You gotta be jokin’, man what are you smoking
Blow it out through my portable door

I absolutely love the way in this video that Ian looks at the camera right before the vocals start. As if to say “Yeah, we’re not quite done yet”!
My father has been listening to Deep Purple since he was a young teenager (he's now 64), and thanks to him, my sister and I inherited his musical taste since we were babies. Now that I'm 32 years old, it brings me a lot of joy and nostalgia when they release new material because I feel like I'm growing alongside the band, and their music has accompanied me throughout my life. I know many things aren't forever, like having your parents or friends who are aging, but Purple will still be there and will never let me forget how happy I was and am!! Congratulations to the band 🤘🏻!!!! Greetings from Argentina🇦🇷!
Very good! I really like Deep Purple too❤❤❤ I'm 62 years old. Hard Rock forever 💪🤘✌️ From Kazakhstan 🇰🇿
Just another boring "Gillan, Glover and Paice" album....Without Jon and Ritchie, it aint even close to Deep Purple...
Just another boring comment from a boring person. 👀
@@steveludwig4200 well, it's DP whether you like it or not
This Is the right perception of the thing
Mind completely blown. Edit: it's a shame the younger generation can't make music like this. Just look at these old guys, still rocking. Quite impressive. This is what pure talent looks and sounds like.
I am 64 years old, and I have been following Deep Purple since 1975, back in the USSR. They are the gods of rock. Long live DEEP PURPLE!
Back in the US back in the US back in the USSR.
Ian Gillan is 78 going on 32! Age is truly only a number. Well done, lads! Sounds amazing 💥💥
LIVE HE SUFFERS A LOT, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT HE'S A LIVING LEGEND AND THE FACT THAT THEY CONTINUE RECORDING AND TOURING IS A GREAT SATISACTION
I think it's worth saying if this was an unknown band and this was their first song, they would be getting a lot of attention for their youthful energy and great chops from all their members.
Hard to believe we get music this great from them so consistently. Just incredible
Deep Purple has been my favorite band for over 50 years. Ian Gillan is the greatest singer of all time.
I’m so glad Purple is still putting out new material. The first track, Portable Door is fantastic. ❤❤❤😊😊😊❤❤
My God. Three 78/79 years Olds..a 76 year old...guitarist geezer clearly has the goods...What an amazing band.. A very long love story for me. Just class

Your not a geezer till your 100 now days😂
Their new lead guitarist, Simon McBride is 45. Steve Morris left due to Arthritis.
My first concert was Deep Purple at the Bournemouth Winter Gardens in 1971 we stayed for the encores and had to catch the milk train back to Weymouth but it was worth it . At that time they were the loudest band in the world. This video shows they can still write a great song and play with great skill and originality. Still my favourite rock band till this day. Great.
My dad is a huge fans of Deep Purple. He passed away just yesterday at 71 years old.
And now I’m seeing Deep Purple’s newest song. Not gonna lie, i’m crying through the song,.
So sorry for your loss
This band is one of my favourite bands that I saw on quite afew occasions
It's brilliant to see them still rocking
Your dad is still rocking and will forever be with you in your heart and memories
Gentle hugs coming your way 🫂💜🫂
Very sorry to hear this. I lost my mother and a brother who loved Deep purple this past September.
My dad was a huge fan of Deep Purple, too. I remember he had a lot of their records. He passed three years ago and seeing the video was really cathartic. Just honor him in your own ways throughout your days to help heal, man.
Man, I'm very sorry to hear that. My dad also was a huge fan of Deep Purple, too. He passed away in 2020. left all his old original Deep Purple banger records. Seeing their new release reminded me of him as always.
Sorry to hear that ......Your Dad as a supporting fan is PART of that Purple history. ...& always remember - 'Death is NOT ultimate . Because only LOVE is ultimate.
being 71 is a privilege, i know Deep Purple since the begining, since 1968. I attended 15 concerts in France, Switzerland and Germany but now i live in a contry that you will maybe not visit, Philippines. Anyway, i have memories, pictures, movies and of course all the records. Thank You to made and still making my life so good each time i listen your music.
I've only seen them twice. Germany circa 84 and The U.S. around 2002?
Love the fact that they're still giving it their best.
@@chriso5374 Me too! (twice) Budokan in 85 and Shoreline in California 2018 - the 85 show is one of my treasured memories, but love seeing them continuing!

I am 60 and awesome being here with Deep Purple, I attended a Lot of concerts, México City, Toronto and Montreal

Willie Nelson turned 91 this week and the 80+ year old Rolling Stones open a new tour in America this week. It's good that Rock N Roll is finally rejuvenating with these youngsters in their 70s finally coming forward. And we idiots were afraid that Rock N Roll would die out.
No seriously, Ian Gillan is still one of the best voices in the rock world.🤘🤘

I was only 13 years old when I listened Deep Purple for the very first time back on 1970 and their heavy metal was magic like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, 54 years later we all get this gift by Deep Purple and their inmortal heavy metal sound and they all look just amazing and strong and the way it looks there will be Deep Purple for quite a few more years! God bless you guys and the force be with you!!!
You must be very close to my age, I bought my first album age 13 ish and it was...Deep Purple In Rock, still my favourite album after all these years. These guys are amazing.
Gilan’s “Hallelujah” was really lifting up there… and I was 13 when the first LP of Deep Purple came to Bulgaria at 1983! 😅
Impossible
Now this is what real musicians sound like. Well done, lads.!
Strong Pictures of Home vibes here! The whole universe just got better with this new release...long live Deep Purple!!!!!⚡🇬🇧👿🇬🇧⚡
That's the song it reminded me of....but this is just another boring "Gillan, Glover and Paice" album....Without Jon and Ritchie, it aint even close to Deep Purple...
@@steveludwig4200 Losing Jon changed the band forever. But Purpendicular demonstracted that Ritchie was just as replaceable as Rod Evans or Glenn Hughes.
@@steveludwig4200 damn right, it doesn't sound Bad at all, but it will never ever be the same without them. If anything, maybe Blackmore was replaceable...huge maybe; but Lord...dear Lord...he was THE sound of rock & roll. One can just wish they were eternal!

Long live to Deep Purple 👑👏🏻
Real music is made, from' heart and soul'...thats why its called 'rock and roll'
I'm always saddened when a band with so much talent and a great following disbands. Deep Purple has persevered no matter who has left, come back or unfortunately passed away (Jon Lord, bless his soul). When a band receives new talent, I think it only enhances their energy and their following. When "Turning to Crime" came out I thought maybe that would be their last album as Steve Morse left unexpectedly due to family health issues and Pace and Glover (both 75) and Gillian and Airy (both 78) would probably retire. Along comes Simon McBride who in his own way has filled the guitar spot professionally and is one Hell of a guitarist. I was so overjoyed when I saw this video and looking forward to getting this new album. I'll never give up on Deep Purple! When people that say that it's not Deep Purple without Richie Blackmore and Jon Lord (God bless him), I just wish they would give "new blood" a chance! All Hail DEEP PURPLE!
They are keeping the music alive. Been a Deep Purple fan since the early 70's.
@@kennethnease3133 I've been a fan of Deep Purple since "Shades of Deep Purple" in 1968. Wow, 56 years ago (13 years old) and with each album they get better and better. On my "bucket list" is to see them in concert at least once, although I've never seen where they're in my area. One day!!!👍
I think it's Gillan and Glover who are the eldest, then Paice and Airey. (First two born in 1945, latter two in 1948..).. sorry if this sounds a bit pedantic!!
@@markc4305 Not at all pedantic (I had to look that up to see what it means 😁). I stand corrected. Actually, it doesn't matter how old they are, they still "rock" and that's all that matters.
@@railenthusiast7654 I saw them in 1984 with Ritchie and Jon Lord, and in 2018 with Steve Morse and Don Airy. Both great shows. Maybe next time I won't wait 34 years :)

I lost my father 2 years ago due to a mix complications of cancer and Covid19. Both of us were huge rock music fans, and every time we met he would start playing his old records of Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, and Queen. We would listen to it together and discuss everything about the band. Today when I saw this Music Video thumbnail on UA-cam, I automatically clicked on it, and as I listened to this song my tears started to fall. It would have been amazing if we could listen to it together, I can imagine how he would be so excited to talk about their music and sounds. God, I haven't cried this hard since his funeral. Thank you Deep Purple for releasing this song and helping me reminisce all the memories I had of my father...
Never easy loosing a parent. Accept a hug from a crazy Old Lady in the same case.
Take care Tetsu .
You just told my story.. I lost my dad 1,5 years ago.. And all I have in my classic rock music education I took from him.. Looking on these silverhair dudes all that I can do is to say "long live" In a memory of my Father. Rip J. Lord.

In this age of tribute bands, it's sooo exciting to experience the real thing. All the Purple elements are in this fabulous song: the awesome B3 organ, the pulsing beat and Glover's bass, and of course, Ian's voice. I got the shivers up my spine when I heard this song.
And Mr. Lord is rocking along in heaven. ... I tip my hat to DP.

this sounds like it could have come off Perfect Strangers. And that is a high compliment

Holy shit, it's 2024 and we have an incoming new Deep Purple album!? And they've very clearly still got the magic to put some bounce in your booty as you dance around the room playing air guitar and/or singing into your cola can.
I was in the fourth grade of primary school when I first heard Deep Purple. It was the Machine Head album. In our apartment building lived and worked a master tailor whose mother lived out in the US. She regularly sent her son records from America, because in Hungary at that time you couldn't get any Western music or records.
I came home from school and there was fucking great music playing out the workshop window into the yard. It was Highway Star... I remember once I gave away a month's pocket money for an 8x10cm photo of DP members. I remember Paice was sitting in a brutally long boot...
