- 2019 Lexus GS F Review by The Straight Pipes. With 467hp and 389lb-ft of torque from a naturally aspirated V8 engine, this aging GS F is a gem in the world of turbo's and hybrid's. But at $100,050, there are a lot of other options with more horsepower. Would you take it over the Mercedes-AMG E63, BMW M5, Lexus LC500?

What do you think of the Lexus GS F? Would you take it over the Mercedes-AMG E63, BMW M5, Lexus LC500?
TheStraightPipes whhhaaaaaaaaaatttttttt
I would definitely take the lexus, i know toyota/lexus often take a long time to really upgrade their models, but i don't care! There's something about driving japanese sports cars that just feels natural
Here is my list M5 second GS F then LC 500
Would take rs5 over this
Always would
Im buying one. Don't give a crap its not the best car ever. Good day!
I highly encourage this purchase - Jakub
savagegeese but this car needs proper oil maintenance! This ain’t no Honda! PS. Sorry to hear about your recent accident; hope you’re doing well still!
You might like my civic better ;)
@@rubinixcube8866 Dang, did not hear about Mr Goose's accident. Sure hope that he's ok.
FX he posted it on social media just a few days ago. His Civic was tboned at a decent speed (crumpled most of the driver side) but thankfully he came out without injury. Damn, gotta love those Civics. EDIT: okay, he does complain of chest pains in that video. instagram.com/p/B5BD1KjnLKs/
I love how the Lexus just doesn’t give a damn about the german horsepower competition
Steve Jovan i guess u shud be looking at their world wide stats. Lexus sells twice more than mercedes bmw audi together combined. I drive a merc, I would love to get a lexus
So you love something that doesn’t evolve or improve over time
Steve Jovan this is frm stats my friend u can google it out check lexus as a brand they just simply outsell all germans
@@adilsulfiqar in 2014 Lexus sold 584.000 units, while BMW sold 1.811.719 units. -numbers are from wikipedia
Reliability is really a thing for long term.
Does it bother anyone else that there is always a leaf stuck in the grill
Nature in Canada got to represent dawg! Lol j/k
It’s a delicious snack for the car for being a good girl.
Landon Olson i didnt even notice till i seen this comment
I leaf in a grill in nearly every review... I’m guessing it’s a Canadian thing.
Yes! I was about the say the same thing.
That car will last a lifetime !! No turbo , supercharger ... just a good old V8
V8s are amazing. The GS430 had one too.
BMW: I6, V8 TT, V10, V12
Audi: I4, I5, V6, V8, V10, V12
Mercedes: I6. V6 TT, V8 TT , V12 TT
Supercharged engines actually can be very reliable. You might need to replace the supercharger eventually but they're good.
@@Dance1617 Like with most things on a car, you just got to take care of it and maintain it properly.
Never mind the fact that it’s a Toyota/Lexus engine, so it’ll run forever either way.
There is no replacement for displacement. And this is coming from an import enthusiast. The displacement is so good for everyday livability, its so smooth and quiet. I dont even mind the terrible gas mileage.
It’s better then all it’s competition for the sole reason that nothing will ever go wrong with it
Good point. But, since most of these cars will be leased, ppl don't care about reliability since that's on the dealer.
Oh something WILL go wrong with it. Owners will get so mad at the infotainment system they'll eventually throw something heavy and hard at it and it'll break stuff.
This car is basically Japanese E39 M5. And it’s 5.0 V8 is the main reason why I bought as my daily.
Than*
Its*
Until they have a headlight blow out and it’s not covered by the warranty anymore
I’d still pick the Lexus because I would be daily driving it
It's 100k... It's actually worth less than 40k... For that money you could get well... Take your pick... Almost anything else and it will be better as long as it's over 35k and under 100k...this thing is pure shit.
if you like 9mpg enjoy..
The GSF is like 80k, and most dealers are selling for less than that, you can get them for 65-70 new.
V1ralB1ack nah man. u cannot forget maintenance cost and repair. sure its expensive but it’ll last forever and u still get that sweet na v8
Best DD you can get and still take to the canyons on the weekend

Review the LC500!!! In person the car is stunning. Undoubtedly the best looking coupe at the moment.
I LOVE this car!! Yes it's outdated, but there's nothing like it anymore... The last of it's kind :(
There's nothing like it because no one wants it. The power figures are weak as fuck an A45 will smash it and is cheaper than it. All from a 2 litre engine.
@@FrozenDung Exactly. Needs at least 100 more hp.
Mikey okay, but in a 0-100,000 mile competition, guess who’s most likely to win without trouble?
@@FrozenDung Cool and how many races have you won? How many trophies do you have? For most of us its about enjoying what you drive. That's it. Any more HP is literally pointless on the street. Pointless for tire wear. And certainly pointless for useable performance when you can't go full throttle for more than a few seconds. Unless you're on the track often, which btw, plenty of broken German missiles around, there is literally no point. Last track day I went to, no Merc BMW Audi came close to passing and one of the M3's came apart on the track. Doesn't say a lot for German engineering.
@@FrozenDung yeap only track people care about horsepower and speeds, to most people it's about the driving sensation the v8 engine gives, the sound, the high revs

The engine sounds nasty, in a good way. Crazy how Toyota still makes this gem of a motor. Yuri, how could you not like that noise!?
3:58 you can go in the settings and lower the sensitivity which makes the joystick heavier. Never seen a reviewer figure this out.
Yes you can. If I remember correctly, it has 5 different settings for sensitivity
Yeah i have no problems with the mouse control, I find it very intuitive to use.
Does it work on a 2015 gs350?
I like how Yuri mouths Jakob's lines in the intro. lol
Jakob did the same lol.
Maybe that's how they always getting in the car so synchronized.
Im hoping they make an ISF in the next gen shape. I just feel a smaller, lighter and more agile car with the same powertrain is more ideal

For future interested buyers: I traded in a 2017 BMW 340i mSport for 2016 GS F. I've not regretted that decision one bit... so much faster and stable into corners, sounds better, more responsive at high speeds. While the entertainment system is nothing like BMW's, I've gotten used to using Lexus enform system...it does the job but you will get frustrated with it.
GSF, RCF, and maybe GTR are the only ones I consider trading in my ISF for.
Most likely an RCF
Ehh isf>rcf
@@shutupishful sure ISF is faster as mine is FBO. but GSF is more practical in space wise and I could use them at some point down the road
Idiosyncrasy yeah im just saying i would rather keep the isf over the rcf but i would definitely trade for the gsf.
Oh my bad, I read it as gsf on your comment instead of rcf ahaha
Why not a used LC500?
The GS F is one of the last cars with the NA V8!
This car isn't much to look at, but I kind of like how much of a sleeper this thing is. Plus, the legendary reliability never hurts with a car like this.
FINALLY A LEXUS!!! Great review guys, I love this car
This thing is beautiful..
Great review! As an owner for two years with my 2017 GSF I would say most of the review is spot on! I enjoyed this review as much as the one Chris Harris gave on the GSF.
It also tracks very well and extremely fun!
Although the tech felt horrible at first, but after a month of getting used to it it's actually pretty good. I actually prefer it over my 2016 Audi TTs.
Too bad you guys didn't review my car 2 years ago when we met at Erin Mills and 401 at timmies meet XD.
This Yuri man doesn't like intake sounds from a N/A V8 smfh
bought 2016 used CPO at dealer. Chris Harris vetted its fully useable performance; Dougie advocated stellar used buy. Climate sys and stereo easy to use real buttons. As for the infotainment, fixable with a $600 part to get Apple Carplay and what CarToys estimated was $300-$600 labor. When I care, I'll do it. Meanwhile, I'll be able to own it long after warranty (owned LS-400 and still own LS-430). Only thing is wrapping my head around handling of such a big vehicle when I am used to Porsche 911 and Boxster. Canyon roads early am and that torque vectoring diff coming up soon. BTW, manual mode is really manual. Put into ECO mode on hwy yet left it in 8th to stop it hunting gears, but when a passing gap opened and I floored it, well, nice sounds but not much oomph because 60 MPH in 8th gear. I'll probably drive this to retirement in 13-15 years. Gas prices? I only drive 5,000 miles a year anyway.
"that's going to be a no from me dawg" LOL best line in any SP video
I just finished watching the Tesla cybertruck and now watching this.. it's like two different universes, and I live in both , love where the auto industry is in
You can literally feel their excitement when a car passes the VISOR TEST!
I'd take a Lexus over any German junk. Seriously, as long as my phone bluetooth's to the infotainment I'm gooood. V8 all the way.
It's also crazy that the GSF depreciates less than any of it's competitors. Good luck buying a used one with reasonable mileage for "cheap". They're still well over 40 grand a decade later.
as someone in the market for a GSF, you are right, but just want to point out they've only been around since 2016.
I just checked the prices on one of the biggest German websites. They have only 10 GSFs and they are around 60K EURO each. I don't know if this is good or bad because if the used price is too high there will be fewer buyers (if any at all) but maybe this is good for a better financing deal with the dealership.
@@bkhan_ if you include gs350's (I was looking for one for my dad) the depreciation is skewed up even MORE. Couldn't find a GS under 30k that has low miles. Ended up with an Accord coupe v6.
And yeah the GSF has been out for 4 years but compare to the same e63s that started at 30k more they're about the same price. Or heck the ISF and the LS 460's are still expensive AF only cause of the V8.
@@aquaphoenixx Lexus holds value harder than most cars. Lexus owners also rarely sell or trade their cars. They hold them for years. Have an ES350 5 years old...still haven't lost half it's value.
Are you a real fan if you didn’t set an alarm to watch this early?
That is a sad comment!
theres no way toyota doesn't have the budget to get an infotainment system to rival ze germans. also wtf japan has always been known for tech. just get sony to do it
Looking forward for more Toyota and Lexus Car reviews! Lexus RX, IS, Highlander and many more !
Same here
I might buy this model when it's a decade old collecting dust at a lexus used car section of the lot with 50k miles on it since the GS is being discontinued. Everyone is buying SUVs now.
Good luck, a decade from now it'll be appreciating in value like clean isfs are now. Probably even more so as NA v8s will be gone for good and bullshite government mandates will have every new car be a hybrid of some sort.
He said that’s going to be a no for me dawg😂😎!
Car is still nice engine awesome!
Does any body notice the Canadian leaf 🍁 stuck on the grill for long time🍁🤣🤣🤣
I'm so mad. The ISF used to be price at 20k-25k on the used market when I was in high school... 2 years have passed, I graduated highschool and I've been saving some money to purchase one however they're now priced on average of 30k+
Yeah I could have kept my ISF and made money on it lol
*yuri drives any car
Yuri: I like this car, I’m more of a bright yellow convertible guy with no trunk space
I would take a GS F over a M5 and E63 any day 💪🏼
For sure. Once you reach a certain level of HP/TQ there's really nowhere you can enjoy it on public roads. Looks like this is right at that line and has Toyota reliability.
It’s so well balanced, it handles great, it has better steering than either the M5 and E63, it rides very well, and it’ll be really reliable. I also like the way it looks. Plus, it’s naturally aspirated!!
Simple rule of thumb:
Buy the Japanese, lease the germans
me too
Then you’re crazy
Sad they're discontinuing the GS because it's one of my favourite new Lexus products
The tom's exterior accessory is a must on this car to make it looks like what it should look like from the factory
? can you clarify please? New GSF owner here, but I'm a 911/Boxster fan and know little of Lexus besides my LS sedans...
@@computerhelpcc Congrats! tom's is a Japanese aftermarket parts company specialize on Lexus and Toyota. Their exterior parts are hit or miss from time to time. But usually look good on last-gen lexus, especially their fender inserts.
Nope. It competes with the M550i, S6, E53AMG
Feeling like I’m part of an exclusive club right now.
You said something about an oil can? You think I need that if don’t track the car at all? I’m keeping my GSF forever.
I’m one of the few on here that actually own a GSF. Reliability, rarity and naturally aspirated were my concerns. I don’t give a shit about infotainment or horsepower I can’t use.
hows it drive? saw a blue one recently, its badass
Same here, I own one but I can honestly say its kind of sad that its just a v8 camry.
“I’m not a subtle person”
“Ohhhh of course”
Hahah epic moment.
Yes! You finally reviewed my attainable dream car! I'm buying a used one in 2021...goals!
I have an RCF carbon/TVD. Best car I could hope for. I considered both GSF and RCF before I bought. I liked the 4 doors on the GSF, but RCF exterior, stiffer, smaller size and lighter dynamics swayed me in the RCF direction.
I don’t think the straight pipes are Lexus guys anymore. 😂 Too many supercars have spoiled them
love Lexus V8
"It isn't totally a competitor, but it exists" sounds like the Porsche Taycan's attitude toward Tesla lol
Check out BULLETS GARAGE on UA-cam for his Lexus GSF BUILD
Whaaaat? Toyota has an outdated infotainment? Color me shocked. Damn this car looks good though
Nissan is worse, somehow
It's not outdated, quite new actually; it's just bad.
The GS F is a rung below the M5 in both price and performance so its probably a better competitor to the M550i honestly. That being said the engine alone makes that car worth it (the Lexus).
That sounds gave me goosebumps! 😆😆😆
Starts at $85,000. There are TON of super sedans that you can buy that are faster, and better with handling.
If those two things would matter one bit in everyday commuting then yes. But they're not important. So, no.
@@jspr2k5 if they're not important, than what else sets this sedan apart from any other sedan with a nice interior? You don't spend $85,000 on a sporty sedan with a v8 with no regards to its performance.
@@MaxSpeedMike this car has value in the same sense that other super sedans have value. Comfort, plenty of redundant power, image etc, etc..
My point is that if you're spending 85k on this you have the finances to actually buy a sports car on the side.
@@jspr2k5 that point makes sense. Thanks
@@MaxSpeedMike I really appreciate your way of commutation. I must admit that I agree with your point that the competition in this price point is very heavy. I'd have a hard time choosing!

We really need an lc500 review guys 👍if yo with me
So, I have this car and you guys are right on the money. The infotainment is pretty much useless. For me, I toss some mp3's on a usb stick and just go from there. The engine sound is just so amazing. This car always puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. I also like how my family of 4 can ride in comfort with me as well. It's a gentleman's sports car for sure. The car is WAYYYYY over priced, but wait a bit or just look to find them used. I saved a small fortune buying used and my car had barely 8K miles on it. This car will 100% be sought after as it ages. Last of the v8's...
what if we made the entire front end like a fish net was thrown over it?!
The best sport sedan ever because it does what a sport sedan is supposed to do..look good, drive fast and handle better. All the infotainment shortcomings.. cuz yes its bad...is overlooked by performance and RELIABILITY!
It looks old nothing makes it look like a new model.
In the C63, it makes 469 horsepower
$144,900 to $173,990 for the C63 S and C63 S
Lexus gs f with a 5.0L V8 producing 467 horsepower
The 2020 GS F starts at $85,010
That's insane
Maybe only rich people can afford to buy German cars and when it breaks you will cry homie
I am in love with this car and I am on to buying one. I don’t give a damn thing about not having fancy gadgets and etc. This thing is so alive, so visceral, so honest as no other car on the market today. Thanks for testing it. 💯
Its a great car but not worth 100k
The clip of Yuri sprinting past the car made me cry laughing😂
The GSF does NOT compete with the m5. It competes with the trim right below it like the BMW 550i. Just because its Lexus top performance trim, does not mean it competes with the rivals top trim. Car reviewers need to quit the ignorance.
Definately my favourite car, would use this as a daily driver and would be the happiest guy to have one
FINALLY ! Thank you guys ! I think I will be purchasing the GS350 (Not the GS350 F) instead of the RC350 as I really need a 4 door car. Wish they made a RC350 Coupe with 4 doors.
Best comment by Yuri "Oah, it's probably so reliable" :D
Many speaks about outdated tech in GS model. But do we realise this old technology will still workable for another 20 years while all new tech super cars already dumb in scrap metal yard in next 20 year's period.
I’d buy it, ONLY IF I had $100,000 and it had fog lights :/

The infotainment took me a month to get use to in my 2013 GS350 but once I was use to it, it's not that bad.

When your biggest complaint about a car is the infotainment system you know it is a great car. I can't stress enough the value of a car as super reliable as a Lexus. Better than any unreliable German sedan all day any day. I know I have owned both.
More of a M550i competitor. I'd still choose GS-F. Great review as always!
RIP for the GS 😥😥
This is an absolute dream car of mine. I'd love to pick one up used in a few years, but there are precious few in Canada.
