what gets me once in a while when I remember this movie is the driver. he was turning his life around, had a supportive gf which is huge. and these guys literally came in and knocked him off the rope he was barely clinging to. whoever added that part deserves credit, bcz if you're old enough it's a gentle reminder that these guys are the villains even though you root for them for various reasons (they're not greedy, they're polite and helpful to the people they terrorize lol !)
I worked at a movie theatre from 1993 to 2008. We had this film for a very long time. If I remember correctly it was three months... The film did really well the entire time. Some of both men's finest acting...
Something slightly similar happened back in 1997. At the branch of the Bank of America, North Hollywood. If I recall correctly, the police even found a videocassette of this movie in the perpetrators apartment.
Had HBO in the late 90s. Changed channels to it one afternoon, with this scene being the point where I started the movie. My god. I had no idea what I was in for. Just incredible.
Shaped the course of my life. Never became a master thief like McCauley,or a master detective like Hanna, but I knew I had to become a guy with a military background,a police background, and an advanced degree. Thank you Michael Mann.
I remember back in the 2000s this scene and the one from Saving Private Ryan at the beginning when the soldiers arrive to the beach where the best ones to set up those Dolby 5.1 systems that were all the rage on that time. This scene sounded amazing.
As portrayed in the movie... Theses guys were highly skilled professionals... They were not cold blood killers... I think just trying to prove a point.... In my opinion a absolute great movie..one of the best of all time!!... To the creator's... A job well done!
That final shot Pacino took was absolutely PRICELESS , taking out the late Tom Sizemore, who usually dies in almost all his movies anyway , it was very bold too , with a kid as a hostage . Respects to all the law enforcement personnel , especially the ones with massive confidence like that !
This sensational heist scene, directed by Michael Mann and based on a real event, is worthy of being mentioned in the same sentence as the robbery scene in John Huston’s “The Asphalt Jungle.” There is no higher praise.
I just read 10 minutes ago that they put Heat 2 on pause because of the budget. Warner Brothers doesn't want to spend more then 100 million on the film and right now the budget is 150million. 150million is nothing nowadays for a movie. I hope they work things out because I was looking forward to the 2nd movie
Only Hollywood. And Al Pacino catches up with the getaway car by simply running. Then Robert de Niro sprays countless rounds at him. People all around him die but nothing happens to him. Heros never die in Hollywood.
at one point here he switches magazines but doesnt actually chamber a round and immediately continues firing. Thats not how an m16 works - it wouldnt fire
after seeing right infront of his eyes road block by cops why did the driver turn the car right there was a right turn and it was not blocked as well direction mistakes !
People at Grocery Store scene 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ You HAD to have heard the Nonstop War going on for last 5mins??? Nahhhh let Me stroll these Bags of Hot pockets and Broccoli like nothing is happening 😂
John Voight mentioned the score was $12.2 million. They knew about how bulky $4 million in 100s was and they brought 3 bags big enough for $4 million. I’ve seen vids where they break this scene down and calculate the weight and bulk of that amount of cash, and the size is about right, but in real life the bags are a lot heavier than it looks like the way they handle them in the flick.
@brinsonharris9816 awesome! I was just watching one of the police videos about guy who tried to steal $1.3 million and had it in two construction trash bags and the guy only made it 700 yards before dropping it all because it was too heavy.
Undoubtedly one of the best movie scenes ever shot.
No CGI will ever match this fantastic shootout and film 😊
this movie's SFX with the gunshots will always be top tier
There is no sound effects tho. Gunshots are played as they've been recorded on the scene.
They actually shot and killed the police officers
@@salembeats1875hahahaha 😂😂😂
❤
@@salembeats1875 You're nuts.
Top ten best movies ever! This scene is iconic and sets a standard for heist scenes
Probably one of the BEST
Choreographed Gun Fight Scenes in Hollywood History
The sound track put you right there in the battle. Unforgettable cinematic experience.
its nice that they gave the actor wes studi a role other than an indian war chief
I regret not seeing this at the cinema.
One of my favorite movies of all times. RIP Tom Sizemore.
They dont make em like this anymore
They have a remake being made now
@@brandoncooley5430 wont be the same. i loved identification all of the characters in such a momentum building film
What a movie. Probably watched it 10 times by now

Best action scene ever ( voted from screenwriters ,directors, and audiences as well) from Michael Mann
Heat is classic movie, the heist scene and escape, the jewel in its crown. 👍🇬🇧

Best gun battle scene without a doubt
One of my top 5 best movies of all time

Yeah, it's almost as good as Air Bud.

best movie gunbattle scene ever. Gives me goose bumps.
Robert De Niro , Val Kilmer and Tom Sizemore are real Bad Asses from these scenes.
ロバードデニーロ、アルパチーノのライバル模様はもちろんカッコイイです✨
私はバルキルマーの演技ぶりが好きです❤️
トップガンのアイスマンも素敵でしたが、ヒートの悪役も素晴らしいです✨
agreed. this and tombstone were his best roles
I remember back in the 2000s this scene and the one from Saving Private Ryan at the beginning when the soldiers arrive to the beach where the best ones to set up those Dolby 5.1 systems that were all the rage on that time. This scene sounded amazing.
And terrifying!
Those guys on those beaches in 1944 were so incredibly brave! And we (as a society) forget that too easily with time!
My dad showed me this movie when I was 9 by far one of the best movies of the 90s
As portrayed in the movie... Theses guys were highly skilled professionals... They were not cold blood killers... I think just trying to prove a point.... In my opinion a absolute great movie..one of the best of all time!!... To the creator's... A job well done!
By far one of the best most intense of a Bank Robbery Scene………from one of the best Michael Mann……..from the Miami Vice era……..the best !!!?
De Niro is SUPERB, as usual. Just a few years before he switched to comedy mode 😊
And whacko mode!
And kamala
That final shot Pacino took was absolutely PRICELESS , taking out the late Tom Sizemore, who usually dies in almost all his movies anyway , it was very bold too , with a kid as a hostage . Respects to all the law enforcement personnel , especially the ones with massive confidence like that !

One of the best films ever!!!!!!!
You have to watch this movie alone no interruptions the wife, the girl friend ,the ,kids nothing😂
This is actually the best film ever made

Epic gunfighting scene! 🔥🔥🔥

That split second kilmers smile turns ........wicked
Tom Sizemore is awesome in this movie.
このデ・ニーロがおそろしくカッチョいい
Ridiculous how the police got there so quick. The station must been next door !
There was just a partition in the studio.

I LOVE THIS SCENE.... 👍🏾
Fair play Neil ain't leaving Chris aka Val Kilmer behind
I like this scene so much! The only problem is the shotgun doesnt go that long range. We have to be real. Shotgun is for short range
I guess no one can keep round count
Neil always sticks to his word nobody will be harmed
my all time favorite scene
Is it a bad scene if you can't remember the bank scene after 29 years. I can remember love story hmmmmm
Who walks into a bank and pulls on the mask only after criminal activity has begun?
Only Hollywood.
And Al Pacino catches up with the getaway car by simply running.
Then Robert de Niro sprays countless rounds at him. People all around him die but nothing happens to him. Heros never die in Hollywood.
Professionals do
@juanitomartinez4279 id like to know how but i wont ask.
They cut the camera off the night before!
It rubs the lotion on its skin
😂😂😂
0:05 to 0:09 The camera movement , epic
😢 that's a fantastic thriller
Absolutely one of the best crime movies ever made. Great acting ,great action, hreat story, and yes one of the best shootouts in cinema history.
Como é difícil ver um filme bom como esse hoje em dia. O que aconteceu com Hollywood?
Tom Sizemore was an amazing actor, too bad his demons won the battle.
How come the sound is slightly off?
wouldnt there be lots of people entering the bank during the robbery?
at one point here he switches magazines but doesnt actually chamber a round and immediately continues firing. Thats not how an m16 works - it wouldnt fire
Mark 8:36
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
虽然武器专业
但是比白宝山的作案水平差了个喜马拉雅
Was shot in LA downtown on Sunday.
Expensive
The town , den of thieves, ain’t got nothing. It’s sad that they even tried.
Cops put a lot of ppl lives at risk should’ve waited till they got further out. One of my top 10 movies for sure
How did Val Kilmer get shot in the left shoulder and yet still be able to carry the load of about 30kgs of money?
…the standard, the definition of “cops and robbers”
I watched this when it first came out - a golden era of movies around this time. I still think they get away. Val Kilmer should av walked faster!
You cannot pull off the bank heist in GTA5 without seeing this first. It’s the law
after seeing right infront of his eyes road block by cops why did the driver turn the car right there was a right turn and it was not blocked as well direction mistakes !
Still the most realistic shootout ever.
People at Grocery Store scene 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ You HAD to have heard the Nonstop War going on for last 5mins??? Nahhhh let Me stroll these Bags of Hot pockets and Broccoli like nothing is happening 😂
Tom Sizemore was a mf in this movie. Great acting
How did they know the perfect size and amount of bags? I can't do that when I go grocery shopping
John Voight mentioned the score was $12.2 million. They knew about how bulky $4 million in 100s was and they brought 3 bags big enough for $4 million. @brinsonharris9816 I just looked out up, $1 million in $100 bills is 22 lbs.
The echoes of this shootout will echo for a long time to come. Several tried to copy it but failed to reach the height.
5:59 GUNSHOTSS
Deniro should be packing up ready to move to Canada soon, so I hear.
Never understood why they entered the bank without masks. Seems there'd be an APB on them even if they made a clean getaway
0:12 What a normal day at a bank 😊
1:05 But Not For Long 💀
After seven years this scene was copied in a Bollywood movie called Kaante,,,,was a very good copy though.....
Bobby I think your done in Hollywood
Such a massive shootout
The cops go from their headquarters to staged outside the bank in the few minutes it takes the crew to rob the bank?
Partition in the studio. They just walk over.
Dunnno how to break it to you champ. Its a film...
I'm thinking it might have been a little late to put the ski masks on.
Best Movie
Funny, the entire time the getaway car is driving AL Pacino keeps up with them on foot.horribly stupid.
Yes, I noticed that. He was running at 50 mph.
womp womp
The best
Fun scene but the police wouldn't open fire in the streets for that amount of time with so many civiians.
3:50 Emergency
4:45 They’re moving
Back before banks had cameras you put your mask on after you walk in.
U can't steal something unguarded
La cazzata, entrano a viso scoperto e poi mettono il passa montagna, chissà forse le telecamere si dimenticheranno
Sweet.
Ruined my peace time...shills...what was that...a ww3 rehearsal shooting 🔫😞
Watch your background. LOLS
?do you think .there ear a bleeding for a reason, feel thit.
Aww goosebumps 😂😂
Cool
Outnumbered but not outgunned
The robbers wich is a amaturistic term not fitting this crew. But fight gunbattles as if they were a commando unit. Covering eachother and shit.
This fucking movie man.
Actually..there was more wrong with this film that’s I recalled
Tactical 😂
