true, I was the first time at AOM, just watching and training :D this year. all the other athletes, the vibes, are motivating and inspiring.
I noticed, i can't train well in a different environment with a lot of ppl i don't know. I need time to adept to the spot and I'm getting feeling awkward. But once I'm got used to the situation, I can jump around :D
need to work on it, to get the adaption faster xD
Though, when I'm training alone it's easier, but i wouldn't get pushed that far.
@Dom Tomato do u even train alone :D?
at least i don't remember any vlogs with solo training.
how do u train for urself, alone without a cam and so?
drilling some moves, trying getting more smooth with new moves, doing them again and again :D?

Just had a good friend send me this and it was such an honor to be used as an example! I really loved seeing your progression on here as well, really inspiring to see the strength, mobility, and technique you developed come into its own over the years.
Some things you/any viewers stumbling across this might find interesting - I was a competitive gymnast until age 10 so I'd say from a power and balance perspective that gave me quite a head start, even though there was a 4 year gap between quitting gymnastics and picking up parkour. I was also a huge nerd and fan of the UK scene and when I started watching athletes like Phil, I realized my "natural" duck feet might be holding me back...so I spent 6 months working on evening out my ankles and hips, then having my best friends and training partners posture check me throughout the day. I also started squatting regularly, hit puberty, and put on 15lbs of muscle. That was right before the year 4 training video in here...good times for gains haha.
All that to say - I was lucky enough to start with a good foundation and stumble into (mostly) correcting my biggest biomechanical issues early on. Kudos to anyone else on this constant journey of self-improvement - this video was a great motivator to keep working on smoothing out all the new movement bumps that constantly crop up as a human being taking impact on the regular!

Thanks for this, very interesting to hear your perspective. If you don't mind me asking, how did you go about fixing your duck feet? I feel like mine are getting better over time as I train but I just wondered if there was anything specifically that helped improve yours. Thank you!

Love it. I'm so glad you made this video I totally feel the same way and have experienced the same thing off and on, which makes it more frustrating. Something about posture and keeping yourself aligned physically and mentally keeps you centered. I always lose the posture and centeredness whilst moving, not always but I'm trying to keep in mind what's distracting me in those moments. Why am I dimming myself, for who? I feel like it's very much a behavioral thing learned from a misunderstood environment. I think community really helps with the posture because once you know there are people alike you can feel more comfortable to open up. I was just having the same thought of what I do outside of parkour will have to be what helps. Feeling more open to express feelings or complaints and not downplaying the importance of your priorities. The most important thing about parkour to me is the community, I think once I remember that I have one, even though I'm not a presence, it will start to be more enjoyable again.

You're doing a very great job of deconstruction. Parkour is a very very young discipline, the techniques and the training is still very raw(we can see a dramatic improvements in both of this things throughout the years, yet we're still in a very beginning ) that's why parkour is in a huge demand of analysis of how and what works and what doesn't. It's stunning for me to see how limitless are the possibilities if the correct deconstruction and study is applied to the things that we do.
Thanks for a very good videos. Looking forward for the next ones.

Great discussion and well done for continuing to train hard and break through your barrier. I fully understand and feel this. I have been ice skating for 4 years as an adult and progressed very slowly compared to others. I can see my bad posture in ice skating videos. I am good for a skater but nothing compared to others who have skated the same time. I will take your feedback/analysis and apply it to my ice skating. Looks like a lot of hard work ahead for me but thanks again for sharing your experience. Can you share any videos on your methods/approach to fixing your posture?

Awesome video mr Tanchak! Your comparison between the twins also made me realize the untapped potential of body posture and how completely reasonable it is to develop it. This video adds to that: it is possible to work on your posture and improve movement through that by A LOT.
I’d love some pointers on ‘how to’ - this is such a broad topic.. where to get started? Eg I’ve had back troubles since mid teenage when I dropped out of a climbing wall during an intense session. Only now, 20 years later(!) I’ve worked on my back posture with a physio and the problems have literally melted away in the course of a couple of months. But my habits in posture and movement, my coordination etc make me ‘relapse’ into bad posture. So any tips would be welcome here :)

totally resonate with Your conjecture. i had 40 years in 2006 when i started training: after 4 years of regular training and injuries, watching others progress in abillity: i realised there was something wrong with my approach to the sport. very disappointed with my lack of achievement i took a 90% step=back from the sport at 46/47 years. now: 10 years on i am training again: starting from the beginning, the precursor to this has been personal development with my posture which grew out of a study of Mewing/Tongue-posture. i remember in my mid 20s an aerobics trainer telling me that i stick-out my bum {lol}, which i chose to ignore as a stupid-commentL eventhough, now i recognise how correct she was.
from the Tongue-posture practice i have become cognisent of the mal-condition withtin my posture, leading to a concerted effort to straighten-up! already things are better with training.
i have a posture-goal to corr ect a rib-flare. the posture IS directly relative to the position of the tongue with the Oral-cavity. the express way to correct Ones posture is to focus on tongue-posture.

This proves to me once again that those who suck the most have the best potential to become the BEST teachers.
We quickly recognise problems in others because we had _all_ of these problems. We can only progress slowly through hard and dedicated work and conscious understanding, while others can use talent. And after all that work we might be nowhere as far as those with talent but we can help others who are facing the same challenges!
Those who can: do, and those who can't: teach. And I'm fine with that. Planning to start my own fitness and parkour education channel. Also will hopefully get a physiotherapy degree one day.

How can I work on improving my own natural body positioning? Seems like such a hard thing to properly diagnose and asses without spending thousand on doctors or physical therapists. Gggg, but you should still ditch the shoes again though and just learn proper natural movement and form for not having them on, which should be almost the same unless you have cushiony heel raised shoes from the store. As for more normal shoes, get Vibrams (they actually allow all of your toes to move individually, so it's the most natural for shoes, plus you can use toe grip), Freets, or Xero Shoes. Btw, Parkour Journeys has videos on Freets.
I don't even wear shoes at all and my movement has definitely progressed, plus it was totally worth it and I just relearned tech properly, which wasn't a big deal as I'm only a beginner, but still though.
