You’ve given me a great idea for my massive elk horn (Platycerium bifurcatum). Which is looking for a new home, as it jumped off its old tree stump mount that was its home for nearly 20 years! Thanks
Love you channel! Definitely going to do this project with my kiddos. 🪴🥰 Can you please do a video on orchids and doing something like this with orchids. 😬
I oddly want to take these and mount them to the ceiling in front of the window! I think if I used those specific mounts in reverse that the included eye hooks would be super easy to hang from the ceiling for this purpose! 🤔
Thanks for your video, I've watched a bunch and like yours the best. Wondering if you have any suggestions for ensuring mold/water damage doesn't occur on the walls underneath your mounted plants? Lining the back of the mounts with plastic is the only preventative measure I can think of, but I wondered if it might cause root rot.....
I love to mount plants. Definitely going to order a few of those wood mounts to do bigger plants. They’re cool. I’ve been mounting Hoya and Dischidia on small redwood planks. Nice job Nick! 👏🏼
I have an entire tree in my room that I mounted different epiphytes to (lmao) to create a jungle moment. My ferns on there are mostly boston ferns and they are all thriving, they just need a lot of care. However, Boston ferns always need a lot of care, so if you are good with their upkeep you can still definitely mount those without worrying about them dying on you immediately.
I’m just about ready to execute my first attempt. I wish I could add pics here, but for my first I purchased a small , cheap crinkle wave birds nest fern. I have some others I want to mount but they would be a much bigger personal loss If I don’t do something correct with my first attempt. Anyway, I have a beautiful and perfect piece of driftwood that actually has a natural hole thru the middle of it. My fern will fit perfectly inside it, but I’m just dbl checking that driftwood Is a good choice for the base. I can’t see why it wouldn’t be, but I might as well ask you so I feel confident to proceed. Again, I wish I could show you, it’s going to be so dang cute! Just needs fastened in now. Also, do you have a kokedama tutorial? Obviously I’ll go look, but If not, I sure would love one! And finally, I love you, and your channel. Concise information given in a very approachable and down to earth way. Plus, you remind me sooooo much of my son, so there’s that , lol. Keep doing you, I greatly appreciate your style!
wow, leaving comment because I am second in line. Have done some mounting into wire baskets, where you still use moss around the roots but don't have to tie it up. I feel better about attempting this type on mount after seeing it done. Thanks, Nic
It’s crazy you posted this video today. I woke up with mounted plants on my mind and was looking through your Instagram for inspiration and here this is!
I have a couple of mounted Staghorns. Super cool, decorative option for displaying certain plants. I shower mine in the sink with the sprayer and prop them up in a sunny spot for 24-48hrs before returning them to their home on the wall, approx 10 ft away from a South facing window.
I can not keep either one of these alive so I ang going to try to mount them. I love the rabbit foot fern and it looks so pretty mounted so thanks for sharing.
Very well done sir! I’ve put this on a list of things I’m gonna try out soon thank you for your video! I’ll make a video and post it to to see how my experience goes compared to yours. 💚💚💚
How do you fertilize the wall mounts being they are not getting any nutrients from soil - do you fertilize very often and with what kind of fertilizer?
I noticed the Japanese holly fern you have there. I just got one a couple of months ago but all I have found for information is growing the holly fern outside. I was wondering why. Recently I have noticed a good amount of spore pods forming on the bottom of the leaves. Is this why they are mainly outdoor plants? In your experience, do they release a lot of spores in the house? Thanks Nick! You rock!
I can't speak to the mount he used, but I tried mounting one of mine on some piece of wood I got from a plant shop (it wasn't marketed as a mounting piece) and it definitely did not do well to being watered.
Hi Nick! I love your plant mounting videos! I checked on the wood slat mount, but they are out of stock. I found the exact same one from rePotme on Amazon for $17.75???!! Usually Amazon sells things for the same cost as the suppliers. Not sure what happened here! I still want to repot one of my staghorn ferns, but am so nervous about it, but watching your videos make it look so easy. I just need to "bite the bullet" and get 'er done! I like the ferns you did today and will keep an eye out for them. Thank you so much for sharing!
hey there! i have a mounted elkhorn fern in a kokedama that has 3 short leaves. i imagine they have similar needs to a staghorn fern but is watering it every 3 days too much? i've been reading everywhere that they prefer to dry out between waterings but also you shouldn't let baby ferns dry out. which is it lol? i use a wooden stick to check the moisture & it only seems to be slightly moist, maybe on the verge of drying whenever i water it. i also have it set under a grow light but why are the tips of my leaves becoming limp and soft? i initially thought it was underwatered because i never soaked the whole rootball for 30~60 min but only used a watering can. so i soaked it for about 50 min but it's been 2 days now & the leaves are still limp & soft. is it too much light? what am i doing wrong here?
I always wondered how people hung the Stagg horn ferns on the wall. This is awesome. Not a difficult project at all. Thanks for sharing. 😊

Perfect timing! Just wondering what I should do with my crocodile fern.

Houseplant Crafts! I love it!!

Thanks for the demonstration.

😍 so cool! I am going to DEFINITELY try this out with one of my ferns. I LOVE ferns!!!!
I've been thinking about mounting some of my plants.

This just looks awesome! 😯
Love this so much! 😍 very inspirational ✨️
Nice video! I just worry about watering, but my plants are smaller so I think misting in between a deep dunk will work ok 🌿
Thanks so much nick they look amazing I'm definitely gonna make some now
Love this. I’ve been wanting to try this. You make it look so easy.
I like the look 🙂
Really neat. Thanks for the video.
Do you have any issues with rot on the wood? I love the wall mounts, but I’m nervous about wetting the wood! :P

This is a really good point. I wish the site would list what kind of wood the mount is made of.

Wish I could find a mounting board like that in the UK.
How high do you keep the humidity in your space to keep mounted plants?

Is there any issue with the wood slats rotting ?
💚💚
Interesting
Those mounts are now $15 😮
