My staghorn was bought about 8 years ago, in a pot, dying and pathetic and in the reduced basket of my local garden centre. He is still in his original pot, although you cannot see it anymore as his roots have completely surrounded the pot now, and he’s a bloody whopper, about 5 feet wide by 5 feet tall. I’m keep trying to work out if I should try to mount him, but he’s just too big so I leave him be as I’m sure he would not keep growing if I was doing it wrong. He lives in my inglenook fireplace during the summer when the fire is not lit, and he has his own bedroom.. honest to god .. he’s that big now .. and I feed him with a specialist tree fern fertiliser once every other month and a mushed up banana and skin every other month. My adult children know I care about him more than I do them and they have a love hate relationship with him, given that it is my adult’s son’s responsibility to carry him outside to catch the rain and breath in the fresh air. He’s my pride and joy, him and my tree fern which is 26 years old now and he’s just as spoilt haha
Hallo my dear, have a good day ahead... Since I'm watching ur video previously, you helping ur friend decorations our plant with their staghorn, I'm start falling in love with that plant. So bought one for my trial. I'm sooooo love it. Thanks for sharing 😘❤️😉. Love from Malaysia 🇲🇾
love this episode!!!! It's so so so helpful for a new platycerium grower. To know most of the well-known species and different types of the same hybrid.
A mixture of feelings seeing you talking about the Platycerium. it's funny but at the same time fascinating and I learnt so much!, Greetings from Germany!
Love this episode. Always waiting for your upload. Very educational and not boring. Video editing is clean. More subscribers for you. Love from the Philippines 🇵🇭
That collection is amazing. Here in the US, its hard to find certain staghorn species for affordable prices. I've barely gotten Ridleyi because of how expensive it is. That collection has to be THOUSANDS of dollars.
Oh yeah it is quite the museum for platyceriums here! Ridleyii is native to our country and so easily accessible. How much is it over there?? One could get a small/mid size one for about USD 40 to 50 here
@@leafing.around I was able to find one for 87 USD. I got lucky because they are usually more than 150 USD. Its the same for most of the other species as well. Bifuractum and Veitchii are the only cheap and widely available ones here in the US. Superbum has been available for cheap (around 20 USD for a small sized one), and I recently got a small group of Elephantotis plantlets for about 20 USD. Most of the other species arent even being sold, and if they are, they are 150 USD like Ridleyi, or they are over 300 USD. I think I saw someone selling Willinckii for around 800 USD. There are lots of reasons they're so expensive, but it is still crazy, haha.
U and ur comments... He is talking about omo and u r telling us about his wedding band😄. Thanks a lot for introduction into staghorn world. Sooo many varieties 😅
He has an amazing collection and they are nicely displayed . I have only two young platycerium in pots so I suppose I need to learn how to properly mount them.
I had to check what one we have, and we have the Superbum (we are in Melbourne, Australia). We've had it for over 10 years and it's almost 1mt high. Thank you for the showcase, really impressive collection.

There are 4 giant species: holtumii, grande, wande and forgot the one one...superbum maybe! Get one of these if you want the massive size.
I have some pieces but same variety, how did you mould it in the wood plank? Did you use plant glue or did you use screw?
Wooowww sangat cantik sebagai penghias rumah...sukses selalu...
amazing
Can you please tell us how to propagate these stag horns? In Australia, we have Superbum and I don’t know how to propagate them. Thanks!
Some have pups and they just push them out themselves ....some species like Ridleyi propagate by spores and that takes forever

lol your expression about watering ridleyi is so funny... yeah, I'm not successfully grow ridleyii either. It's alive but not as healthy as his.
