  • An abnormal smear result can be scary, but don't panic. Watch this video and if you have any other questions please comment below, I'd love to hear from you.
Colposcopy explained for ladies with abnormal pap test results.
The Colposcopy UK experience isn't as bad as you think. The Colposcopy and cervical biopsy or colposcopy biopsy follows a pap test (smear test). It's so important to have your smear test and follow through with the recommendations from the doctors if they recommend a colposcopy cervix biopsy.
To an extent, I am asked about colposcopy does it hurt? Colposcopy education is important, in this video I talk about colposcopy how is it done.
Please SHARE this video with any female friends who may have received an abnormal result.

Thank you very much! I just got my results of my regular pap smear, and it came back abnormal. I am waiting for the GYN to call me back to schedule my colposcopy. To say the least, I am very worried and concerned. My mind immediately went to cervical cancer or something that will cause me to be infertile. Your video has put me at ease, still concerned but feel more prepared for what to expect with this upcoming visit.

+Jessi Culbertson Hi Jessi, please try not to worry. My best friend missed her test for 7 years and then when she had her pap they got her STRAIGHT in for a colposcopy, it turned out that she had cancer and yet within a few months they had treated her and she is now completely well and cancer free. My point is, firstly, if your results showed major (worrying) changes then they will act fast (rather than the norm of making you wait for appointments etc), secondly Cervical Cancer has one of the highest cure and survival rates (because the screening process works so effectively). You are in safe hands, most of this is just precautionary and even worse case scenario isn't as scary as it use to be. I would love to know how you get on. I was recently recalled (and again felt nervous etc) but it was a false alarm and all my cells were perfectly normal. Best of luck. x

I had a colposcopy and punch biopsy done a few days ago and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
The latter didn’t hurt when the doctor did it but I started having a cramp (similar to a menstrual one) while she was cleaning the blood off my cervix. She said it’s normal so I took a painkiller to help with that. It was uncomfortable for me to sit while wearing pants after the procedure and it lasted till the next day so I’d suggest wearing a skirt to your appointment. It doesn’t really hurt. Felt like running water over a wound. Expect bleeding for a couple of days too. I have to wait about a week or two for my result, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it isn’t too bad. Its too painful for fibromyalgia and sciatica people. Just ignore it and dont get treatment. Its not worth it

Cancer is far worse. My best friend left it and she ended up having cervical cancer in her early 30s. She had to have a hysterectomy to save her live and that was so much more pain and discomfort. Don't leave it.
