They forgot to give me the game pack with it, and when I went back in they looked for a while, and finally found it (Virtua Fighter 2, Virtua Cop 2, and Daytona USA) and said it's the last one they had. I think I went back the next day or something to just buy up all the interesting looking games. I'm pretty sure Burning Rangers was there. I got Magical Knight Rayearth and Albert Odyssey that day. Astal, Clockwork Knight (which was one of the launch titles I think, but they had it there for like ten bucks or something)... forget what else, but I think I got several others. I might be wrong about the prices but I think Rayearth and Albert were really only like $20-30 at the most. I remember looking at Burning Rangers and I think I read about it in EGM or something, but gave it a pass. With my luck, Panzer Dragoon Saga was there too and I just didn't care at the time.

Thank you so much for talking about current prices. I realize that watching this video 5 years from now the prices will be different but I LOVE seeing how things used to be when I watch older videos which I constantly am doing on your channel!
I was very lucky and got the final four when they released. Magic Knight Ray Earth, Burning Rangers, Shining Force 3, and Panzer Dragoon Saga. All still complete.
It’s why I collect almost exclusively for the Japanese Saturn! The only games I get on NA Saturn are RPGs or games where there’s a ton of dialogue. Super easy to replace the cases.
Limited Run Games made some exact replica replacement cases for those. they also have a stronger sturdy acrylic version thats a little more pricey, but doesn't break near as easily.
MJR about your closing comments, I think it's perfectly okay to do videos regarding the value of games. I spent most of the 90's working in a comic shop and the back issue comic book market was very similar to today's back issue game market. I agree with your point that if you're going to collect something you need to know what the expensive items are going to be. Helps you to be more aware as a collector.
I'm surprised many older comics have gone WAAAAAY down in their value these days considering how popular superheroes are nowadays. I would have figured they would have gone up since people are getting into collecting the comics. Like one of my X-Men comics went from being worth about $40 to like $8 now.
I haven't followed values very much since I got out of comics, I find that surprising too! I think there is a large portion of the movie-going crowd that are new to the mythos and are either unaware or uninterested in their screen hero's comic appearances. When I was selling comics day to day I used to tell our customers to 'buy the character(s) that you like. That way if the value of your comic does not go up it will still be worth something to you.'
wales2k I got two more to go for the Saturn, dude. Sega Ages, and Shining Wisdom. My wallet feels your wallet’s pain. My wallet is screaming obscenities at me daily. 🤣
I remember playing Magic Knights Reyearth when i was really little, such a great game. I checked the shelf and we still have it! Apparently we also have Panzer Dragoon Saga, Albert Odyssey, and Burning Rangers(still in the wrap). My mom made a pretty good choice going with saturn back in the day i guess O_O

The Saturn had some amazing games. I have all the games featured in the video except Daytona USA CCE Netlink. I wish I could find a copy for a reasonable price.
I remember when a Netlink and Datyona were cheap but never picked one up cause didn't know anyone else with a Saturn. Would be cool to pick up a couple Netlinks and Daytonas Netlink edition (and another Saturn) to play multi-player, but would be cost prohibitive these days. I think you could do the same w/Virtual On? (netlink edition)
There are five Netlink compatible games in the US Saturn library: Daytona USA CCE Netlink, Virtual-On Netlink, Sega Rally Championship Netlink, Saturn Bomberman, Duke Nukem 3d. The first three are re-releases of existing games with added Netlink support.
I sadly passed on Daytona netlink many years ago for $250. But last year I finally made a trade for one with a girl locally who literally found it at a play n trade for $10. It was nice to cross the last $100+ Saturn title off the list finally
RetroMoments It's so worth it. I only had N64 growing up, but burning the games and experiencing Panzer Dragoon Saga was almost as important a gaming memory/experience as when I first played Super Mario 64 at a Toys R Us demo station all those years ago.
If you are ever in the shits, just beg MJR to make a video involving some of your games, proceed to go on eBay and your bills will be payed for a few months. ;D
Man I loved my Magic Knight Ray Earth! Sold it nearly 20 years ago for around hundred USD along with my Burning Rangers and Shining Force. I sold my Panzer Dragoon Saga for about 500.
On U.S. Saturn most games that are exclusive and good are pricey at this point. Getting a complete version of Panzer Dragoon 1 and 2 (together) can run you around $150 bucks or more now. Thank god for the Japanese market
If you are getting Japanese Saturn games, better make sure you look up on Disc rot. It would suck if you you'd buy one of the more expensive games and it turns out to be useless due to the disc being bad.
Radiant Silvergun, a very popular Saturn shooter is really expensive.... and also Shining Force 3 Premium Disc... a bonus disc that came with the Shining Force 3 trilogy... it's not really a game but a database info about the trilogy... is very expensive too.
I was collecting for Saturn in the early 00’s, quit for a while and just picked it back up recently and I can’t believe how much prices have shot up on a lot of titles! I’m kicking myself for some sales I made 😳
Ryan 551 I feel your pain.... my ex kindly donated my collection to the local charity shop... a few years later I started to start collecting again but the prices.... wow...
@@stonedzombie.996 no kidding. My friend found a box of complete saturn games at a thrift shop including Virtua Fighter 2 remix longbox for dirt cheap last year
Great video as a Saturn nut here. I luckily have all the games in the video although Daytona netlink took some time to finally track down... I'd say the video did a great job pointing out most but missed a couple. John mentioned mega Man 8 which is in the 250 range cib. Battesport is around $250-300 and I'd consider the 2nd rarest game after Daytona Netlink by shear scarcity. Hercs Adventures and Powerslave have also jumped into that $150-200 range. Even the bad port of Crypt Killer is 150-200 cib. Only thing I'd add as far as opinions go, winning post is an extremely well done and deep sim. Definitely not shovelware. And sadly the house of the dead port was rushed and only 60% complete upon release. It's playable but sadly quite sloppy... The most I paid for any of these was $150 back in 06 for Panzer Dragoon Saga. Just like metal Jesus, at the time I thought the price was kinda ridiculous. But obviously now it was a great deal. I remember also paying $40 for Bomberman in 08 thinking it should be cheaper. It's always funny to look back on stuff like that
I have a Saturn since I was a kid. My parents bought me one in highschool back in 96, because I wanted it instead of a PS1 at the time. Most of my friends had a PS1, and whenever they came over to my house we would literally play for entire afternoons, they were amazed at how awesome the games for it were, and how much fun we all had together (the PS1 is obviously a lot of fun too, I love that console as well, as I also collect for it these days), to a point we would have the choice to hook up a PS1, N64 and Saturn on Sunday afternoons, and my poor Saturn was 90% of the time the console hooked up with 5/6 guys playing it, either waiting turns to play a single player game, or together playing MP games. Some of my fondest memories of playing with friends are on the Saturn. Even as a kid I was lucky enough to have quite a big game collection for it, buying quite a few rare games today at launch here in Europe where I live. Sunday afternoon at my parents home meant playing Saturn Bomberman with 2 multi tap adapters (I have one, my friend had another) usually with 7 dudes (and gals!) duking it out for afternoons on end. We even had days where 10 of us were playing that damn game at the same time. It was epic, and I was lucky my parents were cool about the whole thing, my Dad even playing with us sometimes. Epic stuff when you´re a kid. Unlike a lot of my friends, I never sold my Saturn stuff since those days. I still have every single game I ever bought for it, and it was the console that got me into collecting to begin with. I have a humble collection of consoles, only 5 at the moment, but I do have a lot of games for them, but my pride and joy is my Saturn collection. I have ALL 240 games released in this region, and I was lucky to not have spent a fortune on it, since I already own all the "heavy hitters" since I was a kid. Burning Rangers, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Deep Fear (not released in the US, and extremely hard to find on the PAL region), Panzer Dragoon, Panzer Zwei, Die Hard Arcade, Saturn Bomberman, Shining Force 3 and about 70 other games I already had since i was a high school kid and going towards university. How I never sold anything to buy newer consoles is a mistery to me, I could never part with anything Saturn related, felt almost like I was getting rid of part of myself if I did. I´m glad I kept all my stuff, and even happier now that I was able to finish my collection (of PAL releases, Japanese are next) literally 2 weeks ago by tracking down one of the worst Saturn games ever made, The Crow city of angels, to finally own all the games. Felt awesome to be honest. Sorry for the wall of text, and although I am not the biggest console collector out there, not even close, when it comes to the Saturn I know a thing or two, and if you ever need help tracking down a game for it MetalJesus, feel free to ask for my help, or anyone collecting for the console for that matter. Great video as always, and keep it up. I absolutely love the channel.
According to the internet, one of the issues with Panzer Dragoon Saga not being re-released is, the source code for the game was lost. I have Panzer Dragoon Saga hiding in a closet somewhere, with the box and I think most (possibly all) of the material. Heh
The same thing happened to Ultima 7. The loss/destruction of source code is surprisingly common... Just one of many reasons we should support accurate hardware emulation of classic systems.
Junichi Suto has some coding of the game. It's incomplete, however. I believe it's also an early build of Saga's code anyways, so it's unlikely that they'll ever recreate the game with the original coding.
Just a note about Panzer Dragoon Saga: Supposedly the original source code which was in the hands of SEGA was lost and that's why they haven't been able to bring the game back for a rerelease. Super sad!
You just made me so happy. I still have a lot of my Saturn games, and still play them! Now I know I got some value with 'em, makes playing that much sweeter!
Just FYI: House of the Dead on Saturn and Dreamcast are different games. Saturn has HotD1 and Dreamcast has HotD2. HotD1 on Saturn is not very good as the Saturn wasn’t great in 3D. It’s polygon count and texture resolution was really poor.
J Kemp Saturn HotD was said to be only 60% complete when it shipped. Tantalus wasn't done yet but Sega told them to wrap it up. That's why the graphics were unfinished. Gameplay is actually 100% intact. Saturn could have done the game justice graphically as it was a Model 2 game and plenty of other Model 2 conversions looked great on Saturn.
Yup this one wasn't the Saturn fault. A proper port could have easily looked as good as Virtua cop 2. Sadly we got a rushed port due to dev teams moving onto Dreamcast. The game is luckily very playable despite the unfinished graphics
I think the Saturn coudn't run Model 2 games very well…. I bought a saturn at launch with daytona usa and it was great but when I played the Model 2 version on pc many years later…. the framerate is 60fps while 25fps on the saturn…. plus the graphic are so much better on the model 2 version…. it's almost night and day.
@@KevenLC Daytona is actually a bad example. It was rushed which is why they released Daytona CCE later on. Better examples would be virtua fighter 2 and virtua cop 2. The best and closest 1:1 polygonal arcade port on the system was die hard arcade imo
@@xDerekRx Indeed, the original Daytona on Saturn was rushed for the Saturn launch. Daytona CCE used the same engine as the Sega Rally port, and looks much better than original Daytona Saturn. Some excellent Model 2-to-Saturn ports include Last Bronx, VF2, Sega Rally, Dead or Alive, Virtual On, Virtua Cop 2, etc. And by excellent ports I mean in terms of a couple thousand dollar arcade board vs. a couple hundred dollar home hardware.
I remember almost passing up on Panzer Dragoon Saga as a kid because I wasn't sure about the RPG element since the prior two games were rail shooters. I am glad I was in love with that series, still find it crazy how much that game and Burning Rangers would run me now.
I have all these ones CIB from back in the day when I bought them at the store: Guardian Heroes Dragon Force Burning Rangers Shining Force III Panzer Dragoon Saga When the Saturn was being phased out at stores in Canada, I went on a 2 day trip to every Walmart, Toys r Us, and random department store in SW Ontario to buy up what I could. Games were selling for $5-$10 bucks. Got some gems. Crazy what they go for now. I think 'Fighter's MegaMix' and 'Three Dirty Dwarves' should have made the list. They're pretty hard to come by as well.
I regret selling my Saturn. I remember after I sold it; they released Panzer Dragoon 2 and PD RPG. I really wanted those two games. Maybe I should buy a Saturn, again.
I just bought a Sega Saturn with a non working gameport1. Fixing that was just a matter of bending pins straight, so i got a working saturn for just $45. I'm more into RPGs, but the Saturn showed me how great Shoot 'em Ups can be. Now I ordered an OSSC, cause consoles of that era are meant to be played on CRTs and pixels look very rough without scanline filtering. Damn you, Saturn for being fun and making me spend extra money, heh.
As much as I like the Saturn, it's just too expensive to collect for. The only system that I can think of that's just as, if not more expensive is the TurboGrafx-16.
Video Re-Upload: My previous video accidentally had the wrong footage for Daytona Netlink Edition... sorry for the confusion

Another really informative Video from you both. Its always fun to see John with His amazing Collectibles.
Best regards from northern Germany
The Sega Saturn is a blast to collect for, but just like the Sega CD those cases are so brittle!
Yeah...just look at the PAL Cases and talk about brittle...
Happy to see Albert Odyssey on this list. It's literally one the best RPGs of all time
JTMaster - Do you know if LRG is still selling those new cases? I’d love to get some.
i love that i just watched this video! because The Immortal John Hancock now owns the daytona usa net link edition!! this is awesome!
Sega Saturn is my favorite console to collect for. It has so many great games that people don’t know about. It really is a 2D monster!
I’m starting a collection of Working Designs games. My wallet doesn’t look so happy.
wales2k I got two more to go for the Saturn, dude. Sega Ages, and Shining Wisdom. My wallet feels your wallet’s pain. My wallet is screaming obscenities at me daily. 🤣
Love your channel, always watch!!
Looking for this really rare SEGA SATURN game called 'Death Cult'. Any help would be appreciated
It's one of the puzzles in an ARG ive become involved with

Just got my 6th Sega Saturn game and feelin like a champ collector
Omg, sell me your copy of PD Saga!! for a reasonable price of course!! ;D
I purchased my Panzer Dragoon Saga brand new the day it came out at my local Babbage's (later GameStop). Sorry, I'm not willing to part with it.
Shining Wisdom ! So many great memories with that game.
One of those few console I never had... but always wanted to try!
RetroMoments It's so worth it. I only had N64 growing up, but burning the games and experiencing Panzer Dragoon Saga was almost as important a gaming memory/experience as when I first played Super Mario 64 at a Toys R Us demo station all those years ago.
SHINING FORCE!!! Oh MAN! This series is so underrated, and it's amazing!
We need a "saturn collection" on current generation systems, already. There are like 20 "genesis collection"s.
oogrooq this. Just. This. Couldn’t afford the system but love SEGA
Totally agree. Just having all 3 Panzers would be more than enough for me. Everything else is a bonus at that point!
If Panzer's anything to go by Sega's done a horrific job at keeping source codes and are too lazy to just use a commercial disk for porting purposes.
@av rmx those are new games
If you are ever in the shits, just beg MJR to make a video involving some of your games, proceed to go on eBay and your bills will be payed for a few months. ;D
If I could have any complete set, it would be Saturn. Its a smaller library than say, NES or PS1, but there are so many great games.
There are over a 1000 saturn games.
Just got mine in the mail yesterday. Love it. Might just import those games.
This video is stupidly awesome
Hahahaha! Awesome comment :)
Omg i had that game(Saturn bomberman) 2 years ago and sold it for 5.00 in a garage sale😲I have the daytona netlink edition though😲
i actually own and love Winning Post, so we do exist lol
Man I loved my Magic Knight Ray Earth! Sold it nearly 20 years ago for around hundred USD along with my Burning Rangers and Shining Force. I sold my Panzer Dragoon Saga for about 500.
On U.S. Saturn most games that are exclusive and good are pricey at this point. Getting a complete version of Panzer Dragoon 1 and 2 (together) can run you around $150 bucks or more now. Thank god for the Japanese market
Because the japanese versions of the list are much cheaper. Due to the popularity of the console in Japan of course.
Definitely more than $150 unless you’re very very patient on bids.
If you are getting Japanese Saturn games, better make sure you look up on Disc rot. It would suck if you you'd buy one of the more expensive games and it turns out to be useless due to the disc being bad.
There are still JP Saturn games that are hard to find and expensive. Shinrei Jusatsushi Tarōmaru is the most infamous.
Radiant Silvergun, a very popular Saturn shooter is really expensive.... and also Shining Force 3 Premium Disc... a bonus disc that came with the Shining Force 3 trilogy... it's not really a game but a database info about the trilogy... is very expensive too.
Love seeing Hancock on the channel, he's the man!
Great video once again! And I also now know I need to up my insurance. I never knew Burning Rangers is that rare and expensive.
I was collecting for Saturn in the early 00’s, quit for a while and just picked it back up recently and I can’t believe how much prices have shot up on a lot of titles! I’m kicking myself for some sales I made 😳
Ryan 551 I feel your pain.... my ex kindly donated my collection to the local charity shop... a few years later I started to start collecting again but the prices.... wow...
Yeah its not cheap I started collecting for the Saturn back in 2014 but some of the games aren’t cheap and I rarely find Saturn games
@@stonedzombie.996 no kidding. My friend found a box of complete saturn games at a thrift shop including Virtua Fighter 2 remix longbox for dirt cheap last year
I bought Magic Knight Rayearth for the 2nd time in 2001. Paid $50 for it. Thank goodness I still have it. The price now is insane.
J Bird I found a copy of panzer dragoon in cex ( first time I've seen a Saturn game in there ) they wanted £68 for it... I nearly fainted.
It's always funny to look back on stuff like that
Metal Jesus jizzed when he said there is disc variations
Hahahaha.... yeah a little bit ;)
Man, I love that impressionist cover of Winning Post. Nice one on pointing that out John! It's all about the little details!
I was wondering where this video went?!
Panzer Dragoon on the Switch announced and coming soon! Hancock you called it!
Great working designs Picks!!! Love All of the games on this list.
Most SEGA Saturn games worth playing/owning are stupidly expensive. But some, like Panzer Dragoon Saga are worth every goddamn dollar.
Great video! Love the Saturn!
I just beat Panzer Dragoon Saga last weekend. Fantastic game 👍
If the remake of Panzer Dragoon 1 and 2 sells well I am pretty sure they will start a Saga remake.
Woah I didn't know House of the dead was worth anything, I've had it sitting untouched in a box for about 14 years since my Saturn stopped working.
Yeah, what happened to Anna? We never see her anymore
She has AIIIIIIDDDDSSSSSS
Just a note about Panzer Dragoon Saga: Supposedly the original source code which was in the hands of SEGA was lost and that's why they haven't been able to bring the game back for a rerelease. Super sad!
You just made me so happy. I still have a lot of my Saturn games, and still play them! Now I know I got some value with 'em, makes playing that much sweeter!
Magic Knight Rayearth is a super fun ACTION RPG non turn based
Just FYI: House of the Dead on Saturn and Dreamcast are different games.
Guardian Heroes! Man we loved playing that game as kids
John, I have to correct you twice there: The House of the Dead never came to the Dreamcast. Furthermore the Saturn version is a flawed port...
I remember almost passing up on Panzer Dragoon Saga as a kid because I wasn't sure about the RPG element since the prior two games were rail shooters. I am glad I was in love with that series, still find it crazy how much that game and Burning Rangers would run me now.
I need to become rich to get all these games! Also John is always awesome to see on the channel!
I have all these ones CIB from back in the day when I bought them at the store:
Guardian Heroes
Dragon Force
Burning Rangers
Shining Force III
Panzer Dragoon Saga
When the Saturn was being phased out at stores in Canada, I went on a 2 day trip to every Walmart, Toys r Us, and random department store in SW Ontario to buy up what I could. Games were selling for $5-$10 bucks. Got some gems.
Crazy what they go for now.
I think 'Fighter's MegaMix' and 'Three Dirty Dwarves' should have made the list. They're pretty hard to come by as well.
How to play these games in cheap and non-emulator way?
J you should get the red 5-in-1 cart off Ebay or Etsy and you can burn these games once pseudosaturn is installed from the cart. So worth it
Phantom mod chip
So envious of your collection lol
And here I am, wondering if a new Assassin's creed worth 60$
Cause it's going to be total garbage.
Not only that, but 60$ is like an entry to the attraction park, while high-level content is beyond multiple paywalls, lol
It's supposed to be really good, if you like AC. I'd probably wait for a sale though since there's other things to play.
I regret selling my Saturn. I remember after I sold it; they released Panzer Dragoon 2 and PD RPG. I really wanted those two games. Maybe I should buy a Saturn, again.
Now, the prices will go even up more after this video!
Its true
Dang it. No mention of my Madden Football CIB.
Can't wait to snuggle at PRGE
I forgot to tell you...I'm snuggling you at PRGE
RIICCKKYYYYYYYYY!!
Bro, Let me introduce you to the NeoGeo! :D
The NeoGeo and the Sega Saturn are like diamond stones.
But atleast the Neo Geo had a legitament reason to be expensive.
Completely forgot about NeoGeo.....even though I want one more than any other system out there.
The Neo Geo MVS is not nearly as expensive.
Sega of America: No JRPGS!!
Sega of Japan: what about a horse racing gambling game?
Sega of America: Yes
Cool games , but I d rather buy a motorcycle lol
You're in the wrong channel
Yay you re uploaded this. Thanks MJR
