Holy freakin Moly!!! You sure beat the odds. I have biked through such terrain but this is the first time I have been a spectator. It's way more scary. Especially that stretch along the edge. If a single truck door inadvertently opened you'd be free falling for a while.
I just got off the Rohtang pass last week. Rode up on our Royal Enfields for Hyderabad, India. There was a lot of unseasonal snow fall, made the roads slick as hell!
Hey man, ive done this trip in 2011 on a bike & this year in a minibus. Even so this ride of yours scared me to death. Watching at work that too. Glad you made it out safe, some of those moves were incredibly risky.
I'm not sure whether to say that was nuts or insane. I definitely think your video is one for the books. Even keeping in mind the 'fish-eye' nature of the lens, I was still getting knots in my stomach at the site of the drop-off. The mud roads didn't help either. I'm strictly an asphalt rider and this video only reinforces it'll continue to stay that way ;-P!
good on you buddy, thanks a lot for the 10 min video, it was worth 10 days of reading. I am going for it this Aug, possibly on a 4WD if I can hire one from Leh to Manali...... Krishnan
@cosiodc It was nice to meet you too and the riding in the Himalaya's was incredible all the way :-) If you google the Australian company I went with "Ferris wheels" they do similar trips all over the world.
@covia1 It was indeed a Ferris Wheels trip. I have to say it was a brilliant one as well. 1st time I have ridden with them but it won't be the last :-)
@roalme00 In nearly 30yrs of riding it is without doubt the most extreme riding I have ever undertaken and I loved every second of it. The enfield had normal road tyres and was 1950's version which was oddly ideal for the job I was asking it to do ...
I am a track rider...but I am getting the kicks just by watching this. Thats crazy mate ..lol what if one of those guys were drunk and pushed you into the valley ? I cant help but think negative when theres so much risk involved ! Dont know if I dont like taking risks or if I am a plain wuss :P great vids rider ! Ride Safe Ride On !
Yo bro, I did this very same road in 1987 with a Yamaha Tenere 600. Can understand why I was such a crazy son of a bitch at that time. Looks so scary now. But I do remember 2 spots on that road that I was close to wet my pants.. Great vid and great reminder to the glorious time of my youth.
WOW What a ride, who or what was waiting for u at the end of this trip ?at first i thought u are some local special delivery driver .. i know ..no risk no fun...... i had an adrenaline rush just by watching it and seeing myself driving there ! very good entertainment but don t do this to often ... i want to see some more vids from you .. is somebody picking up your body if you fall off or do they let you lie there until you are eaten by vultures ? i dont even know if there are any!
i went through this road but in a car(june2010)....... its awesum n dangerous ....... next time i will make sure my trip will be on a bike....... its d one thing i would love 2 do before i die
@chakdeyfattay You know I never thought of it that way until I watched it back. At the time you just do it and I think because you are so focused on what you are doing you just don't think of the more negative things that could happen...lol
Only way? its the standard way! :) Although I would say if this was a tour guide leading this, they were a bit stupid letting you ride on the high/outside side of the road when you could have easily taken the inside without the high risk.
@ozzyandbikes Hell, that was some crash!. Sorry, I was being sarcastic about the 'what's with the helmet comment' - if you had an 'off' you're helmet would have been as useful as a catflap in a submarine as you went down that cliff. - BTW, 1:20 needs a censorship warning! You take care buddy...

You are daredevil, must be 17 unaware of danger. No sane person would do this. Its a compliment.

That was genuinely scary at times...
The roads may not be smooth but it's an incredible country. It must be because I am going back to finish the trip in June :-)
@covia1
It was indeed a Ferris Wheels trip. I have to say it was a brilliant one as well. 1st time I have ridden with them but it won't be the last :-)
Very good! Do you have higher res video?
Want more. I could watch hours of this. Was this before the crash?
Unfortunately the other side was full of mud and rocks but thanks for the tip...lol
@roalme00

Not quite sure what to say to that but thanks for the comment...
I will never complain about city traffic again!

@paulinebikergirl
Ah but the inside line was where half the mountain side had come to rest so was not an option ! lol
@kingmu7564
The original is slightly higher res...
@chakdeyfattay
You know I never thought of it that way until I watched it back. At the time you just do it and I think because you are so focused on what you are doing you just don't think of the more negative things that could happen...lol
@trophyYYC
The good side was more a land slide than anything else...lol
Only way? its the standard way! :) Although I would say if this was a tour guide leading this, they were a bit stupid letting you ride on the high/outside side of the road when you could have easily taken the inside without the high risk.
The inside line was blocked by rocks and rubble so wasn't an option...
3:17 I thought it was game over
Why is he/she wearing a crash helmet???
@EnVeeTee
Watch my other clip of my crash in Kashmir (on the arrow above this clip) and then ask that question !!!
Holy Sh*t!
Imagine if one guy opens the car door (-;
I think I have shit my pants. Let me change them.
Brave ....ride ...dangerous !
It IS very dangerous.The helmet cam is on the right side of the helmet, which is making it look even more dangerous.
Did you ever hear of passing side and sui-side? Good grief!
@steve6042
