    I definitely agree with the part on consumerism. We are indeed living in a society of mass consumerism. It has become a norm to live with excess due to the constant influence from the media. A great philosopher Epicurus once said, "Do not spoil by what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for". For me minimalism is not only learning to let go, but it's about making space for more. Less is more! Minimalism is freedom.

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts here, I resonate a lot with this!🙂 Epicurus couldn’t have been more spot on and ironically from my experience of minimalism, life has this funny way of giving grateful people more things to be grateful for. It’s been liberating to say the least and I’ve never felt truly happier. I’m so glad to hear you’re reaping the many benefits too!☺️

    One thought I kept murmuring for the last several days “What is a big house without a peace of mind”.

      I love that🙂 Happiness and contentment is developed within, nothing external alone can ever fulfil that void.

    For me, happiness comes from within, having a peaceful calm mind, money will make life easier, but will not bring us happiness and contentment. 💙

    I admire & have so much respect for you.. and I swear I must sound like a broken record but God really did pour a whole bucket of wonderful all over you…..something happened today that was really awesome and knowing the person that you are I really wanted to tell you…during the day I was playing guitar and looked out the window and there was two morning dove’s on the front porch and there are two built in plant holders that’s part of the porch..well one of the doves kept going in the plant holder…I think she layed her eggs there…because the dove’s kept coming back and forth to the plant holder all day….out of all the houses on my street it was amazing that they picked mine….for me it’s all about the beauty in small things that I see & feel my connection with life

    Hello Holly, this video touched me about the subject of “time”. When I was younger, I never thought of time as an importance as I lived day to day. Today, watching your video I am realizing that my time just passed so fast that stopping to think of where everything went I was stumped. Sitting down and trying to recollect where my time went made me feel ashamed and telling me “where did my time go”. I still remembered my high school graduation day so clearly and my parents in the audience. Holly, what you said makes perfect sense. Thank you for opening my eyes. Bless you 🙏.

      Thank you for your comment and sharing your experiences here! Don’t be too hard on yourself for feeling what you feel, time is one of those things we can all get carried away with and lost sometimes🙂 We cannot change the past but we can enjoy the moment we’re in now which is the most important and what we should be focusing on with a smile and optimism. Take care and wishing you the best!☺️✨

    Don't label yourself. Work towards that things not own you. You can own less things, but the best is to also not let yourself be owned by things. We really don't need anything. Happiness is not found in things, or anything that is in this world. Happiness is found within. Things don't bring happiness. Minimalism doesn't bring happiness itself. It is simply a tool to not be distracted in the world. Happiness is within. So water yourself within. Anything that you use your senses with are not able to bring you any happiness. Everything can be taken from you. Happiness is within. Find out what you really are. There is the happiness. Control is not in your hands. Stop fooling yourself. The Creator has control over the life of your body. You have zero control, that is what the ego wants you to believe. Yes, your ego. Selfish people think they have control. Divine people know and give control to the creator of the body. Living simply and minimalistic is a tool to find above to be true. The lifestyle you live has no influence on happiness. Happiness is you. It can not be found in this world. This is what it is. Minimalism is a tool, nothing more.

    Great video, Holly! I agree, some things are really out of our control in this universe. When it comes to fun, having too much fun can get also out of control sometimes! ... I'm a minimalist too, even with drinking. I'll definitely stick to one bottle while waiting for the New Year! All the best in 2024!

    What prompted you to start on this journey of minimalism? On this journey to live your authentic life?

    • @lagomholly
      @lagomholly  7 місяців тому

      Great question! For me it was when over reliance on material things and a busy lifestyle just wasn’t making me satisfied or content. I began to look inwards and minimalism offered me a new perspective that felt so natural and fitting for me and my perspective on life☺️
