Back in the 70's and 80's domestic violence wasn't necessarily against the law. My step dad shot my Mom, followed and stalked her for years. LE always said, we don't get involved in domestic problems. 100's of times this happened. Back in the 70's you didn't interfere with what a man did in his home.

If you are abused in any way as a child, you spend the rest of your life trying to fix it. It changes a person forever. They were definitely robbed of a 'normal' childhood. And this along with abuse, makes it very difficult to form healthy attachments. And to ever even know who you really are. Just sad. But fame and fortune comes with a huge price tag. Poor LaToya was always disrespected. By her family, the media, the music industry, the late night show hosts, the public. She always seemed very sweet and very well meaning and just seemed like she wanted to be loved for her. I grew up thru the 70’s and 80’s, so I watched this all in real time. Really, as far as her musical career went, Michael was such a phenom there was no way anyone was breaking off even a sliver of that for themselves. I haven’t seen anything like it since him. He’s a once in a lifetime talent. Considering the times, and absolutely zero disrespect to LaToya, if she wasn’t a Jackson we wouldn’t be discussing her today. It was the decade of 1 hit wonders and she didn’t really even have that. The Jacksons kept the gossip mags in business back then. There was a feeding frenzy for the family back then. Even beyond Princess Di and Prince Charles. Even beyond anything the Kardashians ever dreamed of achieving! The Jacksons WERE the 1st Family, the Royal Family, all of them and more. If you weren’t there you can’t even conceive of it. Gordon just always looked like the Devil to me. LaToya was the perfect victim for a snake like him after all the abuse she took from everyone around her leading up to meeting him.

Janet Jackson didn't have any plastic surgery because, she still has her natural beauty. Janet is only 56 years old. Whoever has said or has written that she had plastic surgery, that's a bold-faced lie and besides, I don't think she will go through those extreme measures to have cosmetic surgery to maintain her looks because, she's not that vain! Her looks may have changed slightly over the years, and that's because she's getting older, like all people do. It's called nature. No one expect Janet Jackson to look like she did when she was in her 20s or 30s. For a 56-year-old woman, Janet Jackson looks great, and she DIDN'T have any plastic surgery. In general, plastic surgery doesn't benefit anybody because, the person is still going to age, whether if they have plastic surgery or not. A person can have all the plastic surgeries in the world, and they're still going to get old and unfortunately pass away. Nobody can't stop nature from taking its course, no matter what you do.

Jesus christ.. Sometimes I'm really stunned by how ignorant American people are of history. You have to stop judging situations based upon the current belief system, laws and political climate. The 50/60s were a radically different time especially for us black people and it really stuns me that people don't understand that. Women, even white women, couldn't even get a BANK ACCOUNT separate from their husbands, their husbands could make medical decisions for them, it wasn't even against the law to rape your wife back then and a restraining order? Are you kidding? They didn't even arrest men for domestic violence back then viewing it as a "private issue", they would've laughed her out of the police station if she came in saying her husband was "beating her kids to discipline them" because THAT'S how they believed you disciplined children then. AND Katharine is a black woman ON TOP OF THAT. Segregation didn't even end until 1964!!!! And fyi, since you seem pretty ignorant of history, ending segregation didn't end the racism that was ravaging America, it actually made it worse for several years. It wasn't until well into the 70s it finally calmed down. So do you actually believe a black woman would've called the white police to her home on her black husband? And still be accepted in her neighborhood? Smh, it's pretty sad that you're a full grown adult and who doesn't understand any of this. AND you're a white woman judging the decisions a black women made in a radically different time period that you could never understand.

It's all about reputation and the secrets of the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall. My mother in law defended my ex husband sexually abusing his brother whenever they were teenagers and she used Jehovah's Witnesses to protect her family from being destroyed by CPS. That's why now my ex husband has our daughters and sexually abused them and is getting help from CPS. No matter how much I have exposed or who I've called for help,no one cares. That's why my youngest daughter is looking for me and my boyfriend David for us to help her.

This was fascinating. Very thorough and well done! I'm pretty sure La Toya (and other Jacksons) were sexually abused. It's just something that a woman knows (about other women). I actually feel really sorry for her for the sh!t she's been through. I can see the change in her after she broke free of that nasty husband. Can you imagine only knowing controlling abuse? You can really see the prolonged trauma in her face while she's married to him. And after they split she looks so much healthier in the face (mentally healthier and more radiant). I'm sure that whole family has pretty serious emotional/mental trauma. Not just from the family dynamic, but also the abusive media and tabloids.
