This is a superb documentary that made me feel what was like to be there in the early 90's witnessing all the anticipation, production, release and marketing around Dangerous. I was just a kid back when it was released, so I didn't understood all the implications around it. You gave me a whole new prism in which to gaze upon to understand better MJ intentions, the evolution of his style and songs and a lot of curiosities from this era. Fantastic job to keep the narrative consistent with what was happening that time and how the world mentality was. I never realized that the Black Panther segment of Black or White was considered too "violent" that time or that In The Closet was too sexy for some audiences. Or how the implications of opening up about vitiligo would somehow obfuscate the release of a new single. Even how AIDS were treated back then, with such ignorance. The world was very different, all those things implicate in the history of this album and you made sure to contextualize all of that in a compelling way. Dangerous is not my favorite MJ album, but you made me understand it better and like it even more after 25 years. Thanks!

I personally like everything leading up to Dangerous, there's just some early 90s sound that I didn't care too much for on Dangerous, the production is too thin for my taste as well. There are many good songs, but I don't like a couple of them. The first real time where I felt like I didn't wanna hear the whole album after the first time I heard the whole thing once. TO ME. The best Michael Jackson album. He genuinely expresses himself about issues and personal things that he had never really done before. The most candid look at his musical genius.
The fact that MJ was able to stay relevant musically from his days with The Jackson 5 all the way to Invincible is amazing in itself, most artist fall off with the start of a new decade or a shift in mainstream taste but Michael was able to adapt with all the changes and made timeless hits in every decade of his career

Dangerous is such an ambitious body of work that essentially serves as a significant milestone in MJ's career. It came out during a time where young millennials were just being introduced to him. And older fans were witnessing him transcend globally as this powerful juggernaut. What I love about this album in particular is you can hear MJ's influence in the beats. Even though songs like Dangerous and Jam have heavy New Jack Swing influences you can still hear sounds that you wouldn't hear in other NJS songs. Its like MJ made sure to make the sounds his own and challenged Teddy Riley to make it sound unique.

Thank you for putting the 90’s for Michael into perspective so clearly. I am a boomer who largely was not into any kind of pop and so had not been following MJ over the decades. However, now I am totally fascinated and deeply moved by the legacy of his heart, soul & spirit combined personality upon doing tons of research. But the 90’s is confusing, so this video helped me finally understand his journey after leaving Q much better. And I it is so beautifully crafted!
Probably one of the most thought out, and perfectly in depth documentaries on a Michael Jackson album I have ever watched. Your videos are so amazing, and I just really want to thank you for your channel. Keep slaying 👏👏
Weird how he went from dancing zombies in Thriller to a religious type album. He expresses the different moods in all his albums. Off the wall as in excited, thriller as in scared, dangerous as in heartbreak and pain and suffering and History as in his experience with racism, his divorce from Lisa Marie Presley and his robbed childhood. Invincible as in feeling fresh for the new millennium and frustration with paparazzis.
You know.. Michael did not divorce till almost a year after the release of History. And the name of the attorney who wanted to put him in prison is like Tom Sneddon of the song on History and the songs Money and Scream are not really about divorce I think but rather about trying to get his money and damage his career through false accusations of the worst kind...

The most groundbreaking MJ album that was ever put out, in my opinion. I remember hearing it as a ten year old thinking the beats and vocal sounds were really weird but after getting into songs like “Remember the time” and following the whole marketing process as well as witnessing the concert live, I realized over time how ahead of its time it was. The mysterious cover, the industrial R&B songs versus the heartfelt anthems - it is to me the most interesting sonic experience of all of his records. God bless you Michael and I’m happy we got to shake hands once… 🙏

Give into me and who is it will always be my all time favorite songs from Mike. They were deep, dark, and pulled from a side of his rarely shown. Most of all the songs still to this day stands the test of time. They both are ageless and can grab the attention of any hip hop or grunge rock lover I absolutely love that he was open to go there.

As a person who has followed MJ from his childhood to the last officially released album, I can confidently say that MJ created a constellation of albums, each stands apart and shines its own light. The guy was always at his creative peak even until the This is it rehearsals. He was peerless and Madonna is nowhere close to him. By the way, did I miss Will you be there in this documentary.
When Dangerous came out I was about 8 or 9, and didn’t realize all the controversy surrounding many of these songs. Today my love for MJ spans from Invincible all the way down to Jackson 5 and the countless samples and features he’s had. Given the opportunity, easily I would be one in the crowd fanning out and passing out as you see in all his performances! Truly the G.O.A.T!!!
"Dangerous" is a great album. Lots of hip hop influences mixed with pop, rock and r&b. I remember that album cover, which frightened me and intrigued me when I was 7 years old. The videos from that album are iconic.
@DTB1128 Diamond and Pearls is a song about love being worth much more than money. When Michael Jackson heard the song he bragged that he was the one who could afford to buy all the diamonds and pearls. That's why he died looking like "the scream", miserable and lonely.
Michael Jackson is simply the greatest, the most talented singer, dancer, the most popular human being ever! Lucky are those who worked closely with him.
Wow. Just finished watching this entire thing. So incredible and as an artist myself, very inspiring. Thank you Michael for creating this masterpiece! One of my favorites!

Dangerous is an amazing album! Critics and historians act like it didn't sell 25 million copies worldwide! It's Michael Jackson showing his love and embracing hip hop culture
Michael Jackson was born 1958 and I was 1962, I grow up , live and love ❤️ most of his songs and creativity, I remember the song BEN during my 70’s that was really a big hit , I attempted to join a amateur singing contest in our school and I won the first prize not because I have a good voice but it’s because the content of the song that impacted for too many people around my class, so amazing MJ, I love you ❤️ from the bottom of my heart , how I wish you are still with us now a days!
The dangerous work is so beyond the time even now. At my point of view, he fully achieved what he wanted, to me it's so multi-faceted and multi dimensional.
Dangerous is Good ass Album!!!! One of my favorite MJ albums. This his most underrated album out of his 4 Classic pop culture albums. Off the wall, thriller, BAD, Dangerous.
I think this album MJ wanted to start the 90s with different sounds being more ambitious and innovative. I still think the History album shows he's most vulnerable side, the songs and his lyrics reflects his desire to be normal and to be happy with himself it touches your soul once you hear it. He's a great songwriter.
Dangerous was without doubt MJ's most ambitious project. Whilst 'Dangerous' completed the triptych of references taken from his favorite Fred Astire movie 'bandwagon', I would says the title was a forewarning to its effects. I would also say this album was the fundamental reason why Micheal fell from grace. Nevermind the rest. This album, its opening track 'black or white', its video of him transforming into a black panther, its lyrics 'im not scared of your sheets', and then him smashing car windows with its offence statements daubed on, and smashing the shop windows with their offensive symbols. This is the reason why he fell from grace. The April 92 LA riots, which wasn't just about Rodney King's beating, with its 64 deaths and its millions in damages, followed the release of this song and video. There would have been those looking for scapegoats, seeking to stiffle any tangential influences, looking to prevent its reoccurance. They would have asked the question, how do we make sure that video is never played again. The rest is about the details, the plans which were in motion then. When Micheal's van broke down in LA a month after the riots it is the first step of that plan, this leads to his seemingly 'opportunistic first meeting with the Chandlers. Exactly a year later we saw the gears of that plans turning to create the storm which brought him down. Everything which followed, all its smoke and mirrors, has its origins with this album, Dangerous. Remember the time? I wonder how many do? How many have a memory beyond the tabloiod summaries. MJ. Gone too soon.
The best Mj album after OTW imo. Messages,Creativity,Vibes,Tours etc. One of the best cover in history of music. Thank you for the documentation about this legendary project. MJ the 👑

The allegations and his changing appearance took a lot of attention away from the genius and quality of Dangerous. It's very underrated along with the Invincible album. Eventually people started focusing less on Michael's art/talent and more on his unconventional lifestyle/appearance unfortunately.
What I truly wish for people newly discovering Michaels music. Especially this album. I highly suggest watching this first! Then play the album. You will gain not only respect for the album, but a true understanding of Mikes versatilities in music.

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed watching enough to comment ✨

This should be on Netflix:
I mean EVERYONE should have the chance to see it.
The detail should work for the Estate.
Actually, I wonder what they're doing right now?.. I heard they were doing a biopic on MJ some time ago but never heard of it since...
Some of us should tell them to wake up!..
The future generations should know about MJ's artistry & MJ being a great artist.
❤
Remember listening to this album when I was a kid on repeat. Still do. His best album!
This was the album I was introduced to Michael Jackson with. I wore out the vhs so badly, my dad had to replace it 4 times. I was absolutely hooked. He was such a phenom.
You know MJ is a legend when most UA-cam channels videos are mainly about MJ life and character. Good job Detail
It's shameful that hasn't been made a special 30th anniversary edition of the album. Much appreciation for this documentary.
Dangerous Is My Favorite Michael Jackson Album Ever It's An Amazing Body Of Work Every Track Is Epic
Dangerous has some of the most beautiful album cover art of any album in history. It is so colorful and dramatic !
Probably one of the most thought out, and perfectly in depth documentaries on a Michael Jackson album I have ever watched.
Your videos are so amazing, and I just really want to thank you for your channel. Keep slaying 👏👏
Thank you! Much appreciated :D

One of the greatest albums of all time!!
2022 I'm a real fan of Michael Jackson here💐
The most groundbreaking MJ album that was ever put out, in my opinion.
My favorite album ever. Thank you for this documentary! Well done!
I’m only 18 & I LOVE watching MJ videos, I wasn’t able to experience his greatness during its time but i’m glad we have channels like this to remember the importance of this king 🔥🔥
Thank you! Glad you are enjoying watching! ✨
Dangerous has the most creative, interesting and beautiful album art work of all time, even until this day.
Michael Jackson is and always will be the greatest entertainer of all time❤🕶🎤🎵🕺🌹 Who here is a massive Michael Jackson fan truthfully?
Me!
Been a fan since I was born in ‘84. Miss MJJ so much. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Me 2
Right here!
say it right. MJ is the greatest children's entertainer of all time.
Dangerous is my favourite album of all time by any artist ….ever !!! I miss him dearly and pray one day Jordan Chandler comes out of hiding and tells the whole world the truth. It won’t bring MJ back but it will release him from the shackles he and his father Evan Chandler put on him !
try listening to some real music made by talented artists.
@@onesong2001 you came to this profile to scour the comments to then bad mouth this album by this artist…?!?

Michael jackson embracing rap music n new rnb was such a boost for urban music at the the time i remember buying the jam CD single there was 6 remixes and come togetha was also included (UK version) was really covering all bases and the video was dope undeniably
Off The Wall made him a superstar, Thriller made him a megastar, Bad made him a icon for the 80s
This is one of the best if not THE best in depth music documentary and I’m so glad it was for the king of pop I LOVE THIS! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽You should be so proud ♥️♥️
Thank you so much!
Dangerous album cover is Michael Jackson greatest album covers out of all his album covers fact's 💯
Hey doofus. That's an opinion, not a fact.
Love it but thriller cover is hot 😎
Sonically this album is sensational, the start of the track dangerous never fails to blow me away, this album sounds amazing in stereo
I don't think you can get it in mono.
Remember the time 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥🔥
Mad respect to you guys for doing this.
An outstanding documentary and recollection of one of the greatest albums (and album covers!) of all time. Thank you.
Thank you! ✨
I agree thank you
Michael Jackson is the King of Pop of all time ❤️🔥💯✨
"Dangerous" is a great album. Lots of hip hop influences mixed with pop, rock and r&b. I remember that album cover, which frightened me and intrigued me when I was 7 years old. The videos from that album are iconic.
Michael Jackson still continued to make incredible music after Thriller and Bad
incredibly bad

@DTB1128 Diamond and Pearls is a song about love being worth much more than money.
When Michael Jackson heard the song he bragged that he was the one who could afford to buy all the diamonds and pearls.
That's why he died looking like "the scream", miserable and lonely.
@Deontae Douglas Yes. I hate idiots but don't take it personally. I hate them all, not just you.
Michael Jackson is simply the greatest, the most talented singer, dancer, the most popular human being ever! Lucky are those who worked closely with him.
None of the greatest singers lip-sync.

Wow. Just finished watching this entire thing. So incredible and as an artist myself, very inspiring. Thank you Michael for creating this masterpiece! One of my favorites!
Hope this goes viral and dangerous get's it's recognition
I love everything about this channel. Wish I had found it sooner! Superb work, as always. MJ will be the King, forever. ❤
Thank you very much!
This is 1 of the best, most well informed album documentaries I have ever seen.
Fantastic work.
Thank U.
Wow thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it ✨
It was successful I remember he perform the music at the first Super Bowl Halftime Show. He changed and pioneer that event.
This album was my first exposure to Michael as a toddler. & The Dangerous in my name comes from this album so I'll always have a soft spot for this & will always be a huge part of me. ❤️❤️
Dangerous is an amazing album! Critics and historians act like it didn't sell 25 million copies worldwide! It's Michael Jackson showing his love and embracing hip hop culture
My first album and probably my best. I was 9 years old and everything was magic at that time...
I listened to shit when I was 9 too.
What an icon. What a great artist. What a legend. What a genius. Michael Jackson will live forever.
The dangerous work is so beyond the time even now. At my point of view, he fully achieved what he wanted, to me it's so multi-faceted and multi dimensional.
The world wasn't ready for the King of Pop. R.I.P Michael Jackson 👑
This video makes me love Dangerous even more...thanks!
Dangerous is THE last great MJ album and it's just amazing. The cover is absolutely legendary too, goes so well with the music.
Dangerous was a fantastic album and is still one of my favorite to this day.
Dangerous is a masterpiece.
Big hits on there
That was the best explanation of that cover I’ve ever heard.
Wow, thanks!

This is the best ever documentary on Dangerous album, I appreciate it very much. I especially enjoy the part about the album cover. It’s fascinating!

WHAT A CONCERT IT WOULD BE IF MICHAEL,PRINCE,RICK JAMES AND BARRY WHITE WERE ALL STILL ALIVE AND MAKING MUSIC.I SAY THAT SINCE NEITHER ONE OF THEM LIVED TO SEE THEIR 60TH BIRTHDAY.R.I.P. TO THEM ALL.
Love you just the way you are... RIP, MJ...
The allegations and his changing appearance took a lot of attention away from the genius and quality of Dangerous. It's very underrated along with the Invincible album. Eventually people started focusing less on Michael's art/talent and more on his unconventional lifestyle/appearance unfortunately.
Well done mate. This documentary is one of the best on UA-cam
Thank you!
What I truly wish for people newly discovering Michaels music. Especially this album. I highly suggest watching this first! Then play the album. You will gain not only respect for the album, but a true understanding of Mikes versatilities in music.
The intro itself for this documentary is phenomenal.
This is my fave MJ album and this is his glory days. Dangerous is the Best MJ album
Great documentary. MJ is still and will always remain to the King of Pop... so many artist today struggle to even get to MJ first album numbers but there is one formula that always wins.. Love songs.

Great video ! Best channel on Michael Jackson !
The intellectual analysis and nuance of this video is top . Congrats to whoever wrote it . Unlike most other music journalism on UA-cam (which is garbage ), this video essay is totally riveting , faithful , and informative . I have a PhD in sociology and have been an MJ fan since age 5. Now that I’m binging back on all his catalogue, this was really satisfying to find . Especially the analysis of the album cover ! I was never even remotely aware of all the symbolism , or history of the artwork.
Thank you! I wrote the video script myself ✨
Great documentary! Hopefully there are many more to come! Thanks for all the hard work! 🥰
