This is no reflection on the insurance guy in this video, he's cool. That said, the waiting period on dental insurance is an industry standard, but to say insurance companies would go broke from paying $1,200-$1,500 on a $6,000 root canal bill is an oversimplification. By making you wait 12 months for anything expensive, they are effectively locking you in for 24 months. Could they just charge more to get what they really want? Yes they could but then you would realize how garbage even the best American dental insurance actually is.
Wow reading these stories UHC seems horrible. I hope I am not with the wrong company because I just got UHC Premier Plus Dental. Yes I shopped around for almost a month to compare rates of many top carriers. Coming from a group plan at my job to getting laid off from covid and going self-employed to survive. After doing my research on HMO,PPO, Discount Plans, General Dentist, Ortho, Endo, Prosto, Perio, Waiting Period, Annual Max, Basic, Preventative, Major, Deductible, Fiscal Yr vs Calendar Yr, Missing Tooth Clause, In Network, Out Network, Payment Schedule - I was super exhausted.. so many things you have to know and understand before shopping. Since I wanted an Extraction, Fillings and Crown down before the 1st year, UHC Premier PLus was the best PPO option on day 1. I hope I am right, if not pls tell who has the best option on day 1

I dad needed work dun and was told when he got his plan all you do is go to a place they tell you to and show them your card. well he called them they told him wear to go the lady on the phone even set up everything for him so he figured great I can get my dentures. well not great he showed up and they told him we do not take united healthcare. he then explained that they do take them and that united health care actuly scheled him. the people at the denist then when back and got someone elce who sed we take them but the way it works is you pay first then summit a form to them. the lady at the denist then let him use the phone to call united health care and with the agent on the phone and the denist their the dentist was able to print out the form for my dad to sumit with a recept. he then got his work dun the dentist filled out the form for him gave him a copy of it and the recept they then called united back talked to the person they did before and was able to fax the info over. 2 weeks latter my dad got a call from united saying that they had the from he faxed over and the recept but that the dinist is not covered buy them. he then explained to them everything thing they wear rude and eventuley hun up on him. he then went to the denist told then what happened they sad on the phone with united talking to then as well as the dr talking to them and telling them everything then the dr even told them we have ben doing business with you for years and never had troubles the dr told my dad I am so sorry but refuse except the bill and keep saying we are not part of their network even tho we are. then told my dad or wear he sed trust me I will not be dealing with then any more and please understand this in united not us but we are sorry nd will only charge you for cost and gave him a discount refending him 25 or so % the dr then told him you should call and report them to medicare and maby thing of taking legal action. my dade who hase a hard time doing thing on his own could not do any of that. its sad he had to pay $2000 for dentures that he had insurance fore.
