At the end of the day, what I miss the most about vanilla wasn't killing raid bosses or getting loot, it was standing around with a bunch of my guildmates dancing in stupid locations and taking screenshots.
it was a taunt macro both u and preach were using, whirl went straight into spout which would wipe if someone wasnt in melee, so it was best for everyone who had taunt to just take aggro for a second right after if ur main tank couldnt dodge the whirl.
8:26 ... that's me! The reason why I was guildless at that time was because for me, PvP took priority over PvE (hence why I was geared up and spec'd as fury at rank 11, as you can see in the video), so I had left the raiding guild that I was previously in, and instead ran along with battleground premades. I reached rank 12 eventually with East Dragon over the course of a month or so later, but I stopped there and went back to PvE after Stature of the Gods picked me up for Naxxramas.
Just to give a bit of context for peoples that don't know vanilla, thunderfury was an extremely rare weapon which had a debuff on hit that really made plenty of raid bosses easier to kill. By very rare, I mean by that that on our sever that had many many guilds raiding, many guilds farming c'thun and in Naxxramas, IIRC there was 0 thunderfury alliance side and only one horde side. And I'm not even sure about that horde side one, that may have been 0 as well. That weapon required two extremely lucky drops AND quite the heavy sacrifice for the guild in crafting material to complete the quest. While having a thunderfury in your guild was a massive help, having one and having the guy with it deguild for pvp was some of the most infuriating (pun intended~) thing that could happen in vanilla high level pve, together with your most geared MT deguilding or selling his character on ebay. If the thunderfury owner was also a MT warrior, well... I don't know in your case how that happened so I obviously won't judge, but most peoples seeing a deguilded thunderfury would immediately think "massive drama behind it, better not touch that even with a stick".
In my case, the guild that I was a member of at the time when I got my bindings did not provide any such sacrifice for crafting, since I simply obtained both bindings in one single molten core run (paid for in DKP of course) and then left the guild shortly afterwards, where thereafter, I bought or farmed all of the crafting materials myself. I managed to buy elementium ingots and fiery cores from guilds who didn't need them (either directly or from the auction house), and a friend of mine was able to smelt everything into enchanted elementium bars. The guild Phased allowed me to join towards the end of one of their molten core raids to get my essence of the firelord from Ragnaros, and finally Prince Thunderaan was slain in a pick-up group (raid).
Wow, that's some insane luck here, the two binding in one run? Crazy. Our guild farmed those two bosses for almost two years, that was pretty much the only reason we continued to go to MC after a while, in hope of getting that from them. On top of this, I MT'ed with my reroll in a reroll raid (several PvE guilds organizing a reroll raid in MC) the whole MC for like 6 months. All I saw dropping was twice the same part of the bidding. One went to one of our MT, the other dropped in the reroll raid and went to me. The other boss in like 100-130 kills never dropped it, not even once. If I dropped it in the reroll raid, despite my main being a T2/T3 geared priest and lead healer during raid, my guild would have immediately asked me to switch and equipped my reroll warrior in aq40-naxx40 to become a MT there, as sacrificing the most equipped and best performing healer AND having to go through the tedious task of gearing a new MT was totally worth it with a thunderfury in hand, that's how much that thing was valuable in pve.
Kinda doubt it, Seanos was a really nice guy and later joined Stature of the Gods :) Talked to him a few years ago while msn was still a thing, he had a bunch of screenshots from getting thunderfury and completing the questline :D
Only bad thing about rolling a rogue. Get into a guild early, or be stuck waiting around for an spot to open up because someone got kicked or quit the game lol. I got lucky. I only ever mained DPS classes(Rogue and Mage) in vanilla, and I got to raid on both, the rogue I took all the way up through naxx. The mage raided MC/BWL.
+Oscar Bruins Sure. A private server which went through shutdown, several dramas including theft of donation money, another shutdown, admins infighting etc. is still alive and kicking with 12.5k player online at the same time after 2(TWO) years from it's original release. And then official classic will die in a few months- 146%
+Oscar Bruins The only game that's been consistently dying is retail WoW, hence why they have to put out an expansion ever other year to lure in players (yet their numbers continue to fall). The demand for vanilla WoW has held strong for over a decade, and will remain strong forever.
Of course. And there's nothing wrong with that. But the reason why they need to release content so frequently is because the game itself has gone stale and has zero community. Community is what keeps games alive--and vanilla WoW had a very strong community because the game was designed in such a way to promote community and socialization
Pandion Knights still exist today on the Draenor realm, ran into them a while ago when looking for a new guild and after a bit of chatting with an officer I finally remembered the name from way back when on Al'Akir :)
Watching these clips brought back countless memories of my vanilla experience, especially my first raggy kill omg what a buzz! Was smiling from start to finish haha. Would love to see the rest of the clips. Thanks for the vid :)
See that is why I love your channel? You two legitimately passionate about the game itself, not just playing it. Shit I'd go to the EU server just to play with ya'll lol
Pretty cool man. You all took me back quite a bit. I for one will play classic WoW once I have the time hopefully it's as pure and grindy as possible so I can relive the good days bugs, lag and all.
I'll never forget Streets backwards man in Magtheridon think he ran backwards all night singing that, saw myself tanking a few times on the Mclovin clip. Happy times
RR is raid roll, basically assigned a number to everyone in the raid and then rolls 1 to however many people are in the raid and whoever's number was rolled got the item. Remember using it for stuff like the ZG idols for the enchants.
oh man this is too good! so many memories from this game back then. No regrets sinking as much of my life as I did into it. I really hope new classic is good.
Hey preach (Relent) and Street..so glad I can watch again these awesome TBC videos bringing so many dear memories of us raiding and having fun together. I am Kammel the holy priest. We raided in Dark Light all tier5 up till first few bosses in BT :D
some fun info from WIKI...Nefarian encounter can be reattempted any number of times, however, it takes 15 minutes for him to reset after a wipe (as of patch 1.9.3). Prior to this patch, once the battle had progressed to Phase 2, and the remaining Drakonids had all been killed, the gates would never re-open. Therefore, a Soulstone or other wipe prevention must have been in place, or the battle could not be re-attempted until the instance had reset completely. Nefarian would still respawn after 15 minutes.
I have always wished I had a computer with enough guts to record back during Vanilla. There were so many good times to be had, just like your videos. One of my earliest memories of the pure fun of Vanilla was in the NE starting area. There was a bunch of naked Night Elves dancing by a lake, so naturally I had to join in. And those days that my daughter and I would quest together in Westfall are some of my fondest memories (I do have some screen shots of those). I remember there was a flight path bug wherein your character would still be on the mount after you landed. This happened to my daughter and we could not stop laughing as we were running around killing mobs and healing each other with her still on a gryphon. Oh the good old days, thanks for bringing back some of those fond memories. :D
My god... I just went back to 25 year old me, and remembered all the great times I had raiding MC/BWL/AQ40/Naxx40. The absolute excitement I felt whenever a boss would die. That's great stuff there. And it looks a LOT like my screen did with all the addons!
Wow I cant believe my luck , From the very few quality Vannila Videos on here this one just happens to show my old Vanilla guild House of searing blades. Just wanne say thank you to Greg kiorin Demogorganas Lucius Lillgurra Magis Arael and all the other HoS member who helped make Vanilla raiding the best WoW exprience I have ever had and ofc and thank you preach and street for posting this. I still have my paladin Gryme parked on Al Akir if you ever wanne chat about them good old days then gimme a whisper or a ingame mail.
aww your buddy is a bit cranky cause he had no coffee. I can't wait till I see what else you have to show on these old Vanilla videos. It is very fun to watch.
the "RR" add-on might be Raid Roll? I can't remember how that fucker worked or looked, but it's the only add-on with the acronym RR that I can think of that was available in vanilla.
Your video made me realize where were all my screenshots from vanilla wow that I searched a while ago. On an old 80gig HDD that was still around in my house. Funny how similar the situation was lol. I don't have any video though. Had a bit of a nostalgia time looking at all of them. Good memories.
Really cool to see all the gear. I notice all the paladins wearing actual plate and not teal dresses. The game was so much better before we knew what actual bis was.
You were Al'Akir too?? i was in Sotg, used to look up to Zal and spend my days on IRC trying to wind up Shagaire and Lylz (DarkStorm - boooo far too good they were!). Lots of us came over from the TFC community (me, Shag, Apoc, Katz, Steff among many).
So some of that footage is more from late 2004/2005, so a 14 year old hard drive with 11-13 year old footage. I think that's the fairest way of saying it. It's ballin as fuck either way.
There was a bug in the Ragnaros fight in vanilla when I used to use ice-barbed arrows from AV vendor, and they would be absolutely huge when they stuck out of Ragnaros. Everyone used to complain as they waved around everywhere, but they were the best DPS arrows at the time. Good times
So awesome! I always wanted to do Molten Core OG style but I was still learning the ropes in wow back then. I don't even know if I actually hit 60 before BC came out come to think of it haha.
Mclovin was holy shock as i could see it, i would assume preach did the same since an instant heal would make the other healers know to stop their current heal if they were healing the same target
21:30 probably tainted core macro from last boss at SSC (forgot her name) we all did some stupid shit with that macro (i still have it after 10 years on my macro page)
Great find! Thanks for the videos! I leveled a Rogue(Shank) and a Paladin(Meleq) also during Vanilla. Wouldv'e been much easier to roll a tank though...can't tell you how much time I spent looking for a tank for dungeons and raids back then...fun times none the less
@Preachgaming dude Back in Wrath Days on undermine there was a Paladin named Glacious that ran a lot of pugs and was super well known for being approachable and would help you out if he could. Does the name Lotlot ret paly come to mind!?
I love how you can see the heavy difference in raid mechanics then and now. you can't do bosses where 80% of the raid just stands around casting anymore (well except mother maybe)
Footage like this is awesome. I also found an old harddrive with vanilla footage. It was just me testing out fraps, but still cool to see. Tons of screenshots from vanilla, tbc, wotlk and cata, but lost it somewhere around mid Pandaria where i quit the game.
Keeping macros. lol Such a dumb thing to keep around but sometimes you just have to. :P #showtooltip Hysteria /cast [target=Cidfrostfire] Hysteria /whisper Cidfrostfire Hysteria on you! /in 25 /w Cidfrostfire 5 seconds left on Hysteria! /in 30 /w Cidfrostfire Hysteria GONE! ^ Was on my DK for our fury warrior. lol /rw {skull} > {cross} > {circle} /in 2 /rw {square} = Avoid target (or trap, if the mob is not Patroling) /in 5 /rw If we have them, {moon} = sheep, {diamond} = banish, {triangle} = sap, {star} = sleep (or sheep 2) ^ Old tank macro for marking. :P Deleted a lot of other ones to make space, but still fun to keep some.
At the end of the day, what I miss the most about vanilla wasn't killing raid bosses or getting loot, it was standing around with a bunch of my guildmates dancing in stupid locations and taking screenshots.
It's called Nostalgia.or not being able to let go of the past.
tears
still do that now >>
it's called being human
I hope you all know that they can bring back the content but they can't bring back this
Forty people wearing un-transmogged gear. That's a sight to behold.
With the glorious release of Classic, it's now everywhere and it is truly a pleasant sight to behold. Are you playing Classic, friend?
BOOYA!!!!!!!
You guys were spamming lady vashj macros where you pass the tainted core everybody had a funny thing in their own macro
it was a taunt macro both u and preach were using, whirl went straight into spout which would wipe if someone wasnt in melee, so it was best for everyone who had taunt to just take aggro for a second right after if ur main tank couldnt dodge the whirl.
Ghosty I love you

i'm gonna get a booya macro when classic drops

Your camaraderie and love of the game are *so* clear and so very heartwarming. You got a sub.
Watching these clips brought back countless memories of my vanilla experience, especially my first raggy kill omg what a buzz! Was smiling from start to finish haha. Would love to see the rest of the clips. Thanks for the vid :)
I still have my 10y old 80GB HDD. I think its full of Jenna Jameson clips tho.
booya
Please mate keep bringing out allllll the classic stuff you can, it's so entertaining for me. Love seeing Andy's Paladin as well!! Thank you
Man watching you relive memories from those days made me do the same in my mind. Thanks for the video. Great great thing.
10:20 Some real bangers in here Ghosty, you were in 3005 when we were all in 2005
what song is that?
It's super familiar. I know someone sampled it for a hip-hop song. Bookmarking for a reply hopefully, cause now it's driving me nuts.
its sampled in pitbull-i know you want me
Thanks, no Darude Sandstorm? I'm surprised
The song for those interested is called: The bucketheads - The bomb(these sounds fall into my mind)
I think the RR button was Raid Roll, I might be wrong but that was the first addon that came to mind.
"Guildless Thunderfury guy" that guy got both his damn bindings in 1 run and ended up joining stature of the gods :'D
See that is why I love your channel? You two legitimately passionate about the game itself, not just playing it. Shit I'd go to the EU server just to play with ya'll lol

Great video, and very interesting to watch!
I could only imagine what else he had on that harddrive, when he was 18 years old... A lot of "booya,"
I miss these two making videos
Having auto attack on the action bar actually gave me cancer
having autoattack two times on the bar because wands gave me cancer and aids ;)
Get better soon
Don't tell me you had autoattack bound, when you had a good wand...
Paladins were fine really, sure there is little going on, but atleast you die less than others.
Feelsbadman
Awesome vanilla footage. Thanks for the memories & cannot wait to re-do it all again !!
I miss Ghost and preach :(
Same :(
I'll never forget Streets backwards man in Magtheridon think he ran backwards all night singing that, saw myself tanking a few times on the Mclovin clip. Happy times
at 6:42 you mention Midnight Reveries. I was in that guild oh my the memories. Great video thanks.
Chat at 15:15 is why i remember Vanilla so fondly. Everything we did back then actually meant something when completing.
RR is raid roll, basically assigned a number to everyone in the raid and then rolls 1 to however many people are in the raid and whoever's number was rolled got the item. Remember using it for stuff like the ZG idols for the enchants.

Awesome I def want to see the tbc videos too! Nice work preach.
I really want to see the rest of this footage. Was just so much fun sitting here with you guys.
The PC I gamed on in Vanilla has been sitting in the weather for a couple years... wonder if I could salvage my fraps footage?
For anyone wondering the song in 10:20 is Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez - The Bomb
Jesus christ that Reindeer clip dragged me back 12-13 years in time instantly, the endless trains of people doing /follow in Ironforge...
Thank you for sharing this footage. Enjoyed it a lot!
some fun info from WIKI...Nefarian encounter can be reattempted any number of times, however, it takes 15 minutes for him to reset after a wipe (as of patch 1.9.3). I remember not casting for 20 plus seconds in regular intervals so I could have enough mana to heal. It was honestly a lot more complicated back then
Super complicated to have a rota containing 2 spells lol
@@chimae634 did you play the older wow?
I have always wished I had a computer with enough guts to record back during Vanilla. There were so many good times to be had, just like your videos. One of my earliest memories of the pure fun of Vanilla was in the NE starting area. There was a bunch of naked Night Elves dancing by a lake, so naturally I had to join in. Thank you for uploading this! I wish I had a couple of the videos I had too, such good memories :)
11:00 assuming that guild is farming MC, how long would a full clear take back then?
I wish u could upload the TBC footage somewhere and slap me a link. I would BJ for this, especially if it contains dates of when it was recorded.
Have you been playing since then?
one thing i can say, this is definitely the highest video quality out of any vanilla footage i've ever seen.
At 21 mins when you're wondering about how many months ahead of the previous video it was, the dates and times are in the file name.
Can we get a playlist of all the songs that were muted/played during the dancing montages?
Wow memories... so much nostalgia .. what a great time. Thank you for sharing this
aww your buddy is a bit cranky cause he had no coffee. I can't wait till I see what else you have to show on these old Vanilla videos. It is very fun to watch.

this is so cool. thank you Andy & preach for sharing this with us
Is this going to be a new meme? A twitch emote perhaps?
BOOYA!
Im so fukin ready for classic
Gonna be at least a year. Expect two years.
see if u said TBC i'd say u are not prepared but u didnt so this comment is irrelevant :) have a good day
Your video made me realize where were all my screenshots from vanilla wow that I searched a while ago. On an old 80gig HDD that was still around in my house. Funny how similar the situation was lol. I don't have any video though. Had a bit of a nostalgia time looking at all of them.

I wish I still had my old screenshots and fraps recordings of WoW. It's fun to reminisce once in a while.

The McLovin and the pancake will be variants on the Vashj orb-throw yell macro. I remember my guild had some odd variants on it too. Good times...
The quality of the videos is really good!
2006 footage, so 11 years old not 14 :)
YES thank you.
Yeah, 14 year old hard drive, 11 year old videos.
So some of that footage is more from late 2004/2005, so a 14 year old hard drive with 11-13 year old footage. I think that's the fairest way of saying it. It's ballin as fuck either way.
Also 14 years old video of a 13 years old game.. not even beta came out 14 years ago.
The first reference they give is McLovin and superbad came out in 2007 after TBC.
The macro you saw spammed in SSC was probably the one for Vashj's second phase where you had to disable the pillars.
Loved this video, best vanilla footage I've ever seen, takes me back to playing it.. oh sweet hammer of wrath how i miss thee
Feels like this game came out yesterday. 12 years isn't that long apparently. I miss this game.
Class! This footage needs putting in the grand archives
There was a bug in the Ragnaros fight in vanilla when I used to use ice-barbed arrows from AV vendor, and they would be absolutely huge when they stuck out of Ragnaros. Everyone used to complain as they waved around everywhere, but they were the best DPS arrows at the time. Good times
The "McLovin" on Lurker is probably you spamming the Vashj macro to pass someone the thing to deactivate her shield and shout it in the raid.
So awesome! I always wanted to do Molten Core OG style but I was still learning the ropes in wow back then. I don't even know if I actually hit 60 before BC came out come to think of it haha.
Had a massive smile watching this, thanks for sharing!
Mclovin was holy shock as i could see it, i would assume preach did the same since an instant heal would make the other healers know to stop their current heal if they were healing the same target
Absolute gold. Such a gem you guys have unearthed. /dance
Did the TBC stuff ever get broadcast?
21:30 probably tainted core macro from last boss at SSC (forgot her name) we all did some stupid shit with that macro (i still have it after 10 years on my macro page)
Lovely video! Really enjoyable and nostalgic to watch
owh the memories! thanks for this vid guys, really brought back some ''nostalgia''
So many memories! Maaan, I still remember my first trip to Molten Core. You can't recreate that feeling.
i love how the sounds have barely changed
"What's the McLovin" - that made me laugh! So much nostalgia in this video!
You said you remembered a old member named Jackell was that a combat rogue?
Dude +Preach Gaming, 15:53 he was definitely going to spam general chat with a "booyas" lol..
Does the name Lotlot ret paly come to mind!?
im surprised you didnt do a reaction video to the cinematic trailer and announcements!
Oh man, The Bomb by the Bucketheads! I was 12 when that song came out. What a blast from the past!
Preach, please do a Legacy of the Dance video please.
man i loved this -- your friend was a fckin legend in his own right!
I love how you can see the heavy difference in raid mechanics then and now.
you can't do bosses where 80% of the raid just stands around casting anymore (well except mother maybe)
There was an undead mage back in vanilla named Unknown, look up his old videos it's pretty well made.
Footage like this is awesome. I also found an old harddrive with vanilla footage. It was just me testing out fraps, but still cool to see. Tons of screenshots from vanilla, tbc, wotlk and cata, but lost it somewhere around mid Pandaria where i quit the game.
I bet the mclovin spam was your core macro for vash. I used to spam it randomly at friends too.
I was about to say that! I still have my macro, kept it as a memento!
Keeping macros. lol Such a dumb thing to keep around but sometimes you just have to. :P
#showtooltip Hysteria
/cast [target=Cidfrostfire] Hysteria
/whisper Cidfrostfire Hysteria on you!
/in 25 /w Cidfrostfire 5 seconds left on Hysteria!
/in 30 /w Cidfrostfire Hysteria GONE!
^ Was on my DK for our fury warrior. lol
/rw {skull} > {cross} > {circle}
/in 2 /rw {square} = Avoid target (or trap, if the mob is not Patroling)
/in 5 /rw If we have them, {moon} = sheep, {diamond} = banish, {triangle} = sap, {star} = sleep (or sheep 2)
^ Old tank macro for marking. :P
Deleted a lot of other ones to make space, but still fun to keep some.
i assume the mclovin is from the vashj fight where you had to pass the ball around and most people had macros of who you were passing it to
I remember summer 06 so well. Thanks for sharing this dudes
