- Balatro Part 19 - vampire got nerfed in three large ways. It used to be one of the most disgustingly overpowered jokers in the game, and now it's weaker. However, I believe it's still a great joker, and not just in this King Midas run, but overall.

fun fact: the score tyler would've gotten on 4:30 (1260) is a vampire number and it's fangs! (in fact, the *first* or smallest vampire number)
a vampire number in recreational math is a number that has an even number of digits and can be a multiplication of two numbers that consist of it's digits, in this case, 1260 can be a multiplication of 21 and 60 which contain all the digits of 1260 (1 and 2 are in 21, and 6 and 0 are in 60. 21 and 60 in this case are what we call the "fangs" of a vampire number)

For any Ceremonial Dagger enjoyers out there, you can move the dagger to the right before a round starts to skip the sacrifice, then move it back to the left so you still +mult then Xmult. You don't need an eternal joker to stop the dagger from destroying everything. Might be a bit of a hassel, but might be worth it if you don't need to feed the dagger anymore.
yea i’ve used this strat a lot although i have forgotten once or twice and have had crucial jokers get sacrificed 💔

not sure what this means for this, but vampires were originally just souls that couldn’t enter the afterlife so they would possess their dead body at night, allowing them to do things like get blackout drunk and start a brawl

My favorite Joker combination in this game is Midas Mask, Vampire, and Pareidolia. There are merits to both putting Midas Mask on the left of Vampire and on the right, but either way the numbers get very large very quickly.

Add Splash for the early antes and it becomes insane. I got Vampire's Mult to 30x before I accidentally screwed up.

Yeah this took me ages too. The wording is very unintuitive, since you'd think that "every round" implies you lose another hand after every round, when what they actually mean is that you start with 1 less hand permanently

Red Deck says "+1 discard every round", and you have to play it before unlocking anything

No way a new video when I was just about to binge watch the old videos
misunderstood the Black Deck effect and thought that for every round you'd gain an extra joker slot but -1 hands, meaning you'd quickly gain a ton of joker slots but would soon get 0 hands after a couple of rounds
The game actually will not let you start a round with 0 hands. If you go into the golden needle challenge and pick up the hieroglyph voucher you can set your hand count to 0, but the game will just default to 1 hand whenever you start a blind.

Hardly a misplay. The 9$ are worth more than a slight buff to aces since he already 1-shots every blind

Even if you dont cant feed the dagger with it, at 29:16 you should have bought the negative scholar just for any future temperance you would encounter, so that you could get more from using it instead of just a hermit or smth

fun fact red seal applies to cards that you aren't playing too so if you have a red seal steel it'll multiply twice

What does the Black deck do, exactly? Does it reduces the number of Hands you can play this Ante every time you chooses Blind (and then resets for the next Ante)?
I didn't feel the difference, maybe because Tyler is usually just using a bunch of discards and winning in one or two Hands. It felt like he was simply having a bonus Joker slot for no cost.
The black deck description says +1 Joker slot, but -1 hand every round. It is worded a bit wierd. -1 hand every round just means you have 3 hands to play instead of 4.
@@olliemcfrollie1161 Thanks for explaining. I think the "every round" makes it confusing, it make it sound like you would quickly end up with only 1 hand to play per blind for the rest of the game.

Love all of the vids of this game but I felt like everything was moving soo fast, hard to keep track of what was going on
black deck is really bad early game, but once you get a few scoring jokers you’re so set

Despite the changes to Vampire, I still got a great run with Vampire and Blueprint. It could've been better with the old Vampire, but I think ante 12 is good nonetheless.

I think it would have been better to keep midas mask to the right of vampire. You lose out on intial vampire mult but then the card is "permanently" gold since it's always reapplied. This way you get the extra money next time
Imagine a "black jack" blind. Score a minimum of a certain amount but going over is a game over? I know it makes the idea of big number go brrr kinda moot, but it would add a layer of planning and skill.

Just keep vampire before Midas Mask. It scales slightly slower but eventually your whole deck is Gold so you don't need to care.

Typically this game doesn’t have dumb fun play style but you somehow have found 2 vampire mask and level high card
The combo is utterly BROKEN on Mad World. You can quite easily get a x15 to your mult without much thought.
Wouldn't it be better to basically always have midas behind vampire? You miss out on one but, but you keep the gold for when it's in hand the next time, so less value wasted later on
Flush only wins first hand with 40 chips from cards.

Jokers that expire after a certain number of hands cannot be eternal.
Best way to tell if a flush hand is going to win the first blind is to look at the cards. If they add up to 40 or more extra chips, you'll win. Not hard to do the math.
And it's good for your squishy little brain. Keeps the Alzheimer's away.
Fun fact if gros michael(aka the banana thing) if it destroys itself you can get the chance to see Cavendish in the shop (its a 3x joker with a chance to destroy itself though its a 1 in 1000 to break) its a common so yeah

3:40 Why would you take eternal Midas? Once your face cards are all gold after a couple of rounds it becomes dead weight. Maybe even worse if you want to need to turn them to different enhancements later and Midas just reverts you.
Then I read the title. I mean, I get you, that combo is fire, but unless you know you're getting Vamp, Maxim 43 applies: if it's stupid and it works, it's still stupid and you got lucky.

vampire now rare, not uncommon, but the big two nerfs is that 1 - it only strips scored cards of their enhancements, not any played cards, 2 - only gives +0.1 xmult instead of +0.2, ... combined this means it scales much more slowly. :(
