In my game sims with fire safety run out of the building and they grab a toddler and take them outside... At least I assumed that was the reason my sims sometimes did that.
I have a mod that makes Parenting better! I can’t remember who made it but it makes the parent teach toddler skills twice as fast. It can be useful if you have no aspiration points for Smart Milk (with Smart Milk they are superspeed!)
Now I wonder if in 15 years of playing I might have downloaded that mod at one point and that's why I observed those having learned it teaching toddler skills faster.
All my sims who are married to a romance sim are required to learn Anger Management and/or Couple's Counseling. I consider it like mandatory support therapy for the spouses of Woohoo addicts lol Also I have a sim who is a jump rope champion, 10 Body skill points, maxed out Fitness enthusiasm, all while maintaining a fat body size. She's thicc and ripped like an Olympic shot put champ!
In my personal opinion, the parenting skill isn’t useless. I noticed that the sims who learn this skill are better at taking care of their babies autonomously instead of just giving the baby a bottle every time when it clearly needs a diaper change.
These would be great if they were fleshed out more. Maybe some of them should take longer to learn and of course some of them need overhauls to how they work entirely. It was a cute concept tho
Yep, it would be a lot better if it affected autonomy in any way! Especially parenting and fire safety, but couples counseling would also be interesting with the Sim trying to repair someone's relationship autonomously.
I always thought Fire safety affected my Sim by allowing him to pick up an infant from the crib and run out of the house where fire started. It was interesting since infant was in a different room and Sim parent didn't panicked, went straight forward to pick up his own child.
I had this happen in a household, but they were twin toddlers so my sim only picker up one, the other parent completelly ignored everything, that day they learnt who the favorite was. My sim did come back for the other twin but still
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that only happens in apartments, also they have a built-in security system, so the fire brigade comes at an instant even without an alarm
It has happened before to me, I was trying to make a recreation of the Goth's family history including the fire, so Teen Cassandra took toddler Alexander out of the house and inmediately return to panick. Some people are saying it have only worked in apartments so maybe I installed a mod pack with fixes or something.
The parenting skill I think works for people who just started playing sims 2 but after the first baby you kinda know what to expect with another one. Kinda like real life. XD
Fire safety is cool. When the christmas tree went up in flames, Vidcund saved Jenny's christmas celebration despite being a giant party pooper up to that point. That all happened accidentally too. (The reason why Vidcund of all people knew fire safety was because canonically he has had a short-lived fire fighter career)
I let my sims study these if they roll a want for it. But I will make my hood's priest learn Couples Counseling regardless so he can counsel couples. He hasn't had much chance to use it though.
Fire safety is ESSENTIAL for the Curious household omg! I never understood the other ones, especially the couples counseling one, I don't know why all the sims want to learn this and should be relationship counseling so we could help sims to fix their relationship with siblings (hello Pleasant sims), parents, ex friends, etc. I hope that there is a mod for this.
physiology is my favorite one to make my sims study (esp if they’re in a career that needs the body skill or if i just need a sim to have a high skill in something) because literally the fact its so broken makes my playing the game a lot easier, as well as keeping my sims in shape a lot easier too
I expected couple counseling to be like financial counseling so the sim could make money through online counseling. Wasn't the case... Thanx for the tip about fire mod: a sim had just learnerd fire safety when the lighning fried a tree, I thought "go, simmie, it't your time to shine!" and the only thing that got extinguished was my hope the sim would at least call the fire fighters...
it takes so long for sims to learn these life skills I don't bother with them most of the time like parenting and couples councilng is quite complex irl compared to fire safety so I think fire safety shouldn't take so long to learn imo
Wait that's what happened to my ballerina sim? I had a sim who kept instantly gaining the body skill, and I might have still had notifications of skill gain after she maxed it, and I had no idea why. I kept trying to cheat it down and debug her, but it didn't work. I finally gave up on playing her because it wasn't fun. I must've made her read the physiology book. Thank you for the explanation!
The burglar thing is kinda hilarious, it's one of those goofy sims 2 things xD I actually never saw any benefit in learning those skills, I just did because the sims wanted to learn them... I'm gonna install the mods to make them more relevant, thank you :D EDIT: do you know if that fire mod conflicts with Pescado's fire mod? I had Pescado's mod installed but I don't think it modifies the fire safety skill :s EDIT2: A quick test showed that: - With Pescado's mod, the sims don't react to the fire unless they're in the same room. Simler90's mod made them react if they're x tiles in range of the fire tile. For example: a sim was outside but ran inside to panic to next to the fire. - With Pescado's, non-controllable sims ran away as soon as they detected the fire. Simler90's made them panic on the spot (not run next to the fire), but eventually they ran away too. - With Pescado's, the sims that detected the fire, ran next to it and tried to extinguish it. Note it's a sim that doesnt have the fire safety skill neither has experienced a previous fire. They eventually couldnt extinguish it so they panicked next to it. They didnt catch fire. With simler90's, they ran next to it to panic and never tried to extinguish it themselves. The 1st sim that noticed the fire NEVER caught on fire even thought she was next to it the entire time the kitchen was burning. Other sims that eventually joined in on the panic party, caught fire themselves and died. I think I just need to now test what happens with a sim that knows fire safety... But it takes a little bit more work because I don't think I have a sim like that readily available to test both mods xD
Another thing I hate about that is that if you don’t have a mod that removes the Fire memory, then they gain a fire memory just from seeing a burning tree and you get memory clutter.
I get annoyed when I have a baby and everyone visiting instantly goes to the crib and picks them up. Like yeah, that is totally normal. Is that a default?
Yes, that is the default, Sims can't get their hands off babies but at the same time they don't actually take care of them. I would need a mental institution without the No Baby Harassment mod 🫠
As for the fire safety skill, i always put the sprinkler from the university pack 2 deal with fire that way i just have to mop the floor 😂 I put the smoke detector outside 4 obvious reasons 😂
Sounds like someone needs to do an overhaul for most of these... wonder how hard that would be to do and why no one has done it yet (except physiology, I guess!) 🙃
I once read that parenting would allow them to teach the toddler skills faster and it always also felt like that to me but I guess that was just confirmation bias 😭
@@Marticore I'm aware of it but I always forget to download it 😅 I mean I also forgot to reinstall CEP for two years after moving from one laptop with disc to another with the UC.

I guess Fire Safety is also supposed to make the Sim extinguish fires faster? Well, that's still not very helpful if they keep panicking 😅
That’s weird! In my game my sims dont panic and do extinguish the fire :o

@@mauroc1896 Sad but true 😂 I remembered it happened in an apartment not on usual residential lot. Was it same in your case?
I do believe it's a thing for apartment lots, happens to me every time there's fire on the lot and a toddler is present.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that only happens in apartments, also they have a built-in security system, so the fire brigade comes at an instant even without an alarm

GURL!!!! once a burglar ended up coming home from work with my sim as a friend and i had to starve the burglar so they stopped coming along
my sims who have fire safety automatically call the fire department
