    What I like in this is that you have made an attempt at selecting critical items, and once that process has begun, refining your EDC will continue, especially after you stop smoking and have all that extra space to fill. For those looking for inexpensive belt pouches, I found many in Goodwill thrift stores, often intended for compact cameras. They have two zippered compartments and a belt loop and come in many shapes and sizes. Some say Canon or Nikon, so there's your cover - I'm a photographer, I never go anywhere without a camera".

    New subscriber here. Wanted to thank you for your video. I find your matter of fact delivery refreshing. Just a guy sharing a fairly well thought out carry system for a situation actually affect a lot of us: being an office denizen who would probably set off alarm bells if he walked into work every day with a big tactical looking bag full of stuff. I appreciated this video.

      stormsigma Sorry that I missed your comment and for this late reply. You are correct. I am continuously searching for easy ways to EDC in an office environment. I do have a new office bag that I am reviewing. New video coming out soon. However, this still does not solve the issue of EDC when I attend meetings out of the office downtown. Thank you for watching and again sorry for the late reply.

    All that Kit and no rubbers.
    I take a wallet,cards cash.A leatherman Wave,have a seiko kinetic divers watch,very reliable,
    also carry about 6 or 7 rubbers,I could be away from my nearest and dearest for a week sometimes,so they are very handy to have when staying over.I was going to invest in a Mike Strutter relief case,but I’ve opted to just carry the rubbers.
    Enjoyed your video Man

    Hi there! Thanks (to Missy as well!) for this very informative video. I'm always carrying too much but it's nice to have things when you need them!
    Just a point about high buildings - don't be scared, we all work and live in them. 9/11 was a very unfortunate event which upset all of us, we hope and pray nothing like it ever happens again. Trust in God!

    • @ViperByteNetwork
      @ViperByteNetwork  9 років тому

      AAAyyyGGG I agree no need to be scared, but it made me think that I wasn't prepared because all my items were back at my office and I really had nothing on me. Thank you for watching.

    Great video! Your cameraman did well too! How is that phone? Also, I noticed your hands shaking, do you drink a lot of coffee? If not, let your doctor know, because I had a problem like that that can be a sign of other things that could be wrong that he can address. I like leather stuff too, and Nite Ize and Outdoor Edge make nice gear with a cool clip that I prefer.

    • @ViperByteNetwork
      @ViperByteNetwork  9 років тому +4

      Hi, The phone works well. I have a video review on it in my channel. Yes my shaking is a hereditary condition that runs in the family. The meds for it can have some bad side effects so after discussing it with my doctor, I have decided not to use them and smoking and drinking coffee doesn't help. I like Nite Ize myself. I will have to check out Outdoor Edge. Thank you for watching.

    Thanks for sharing this. Gave me some good ideas of how I can carry a few more items on me during the work day. I'm in that situation. My workday attire is slacks and a button down and I've struggled with this for years. It's difficult to carry everything I would like too. In my work environment it's just not appropriate for me to have all kinds of things hanging off my belt, etc.

    • @ViperByteNetwork
      @ViperByteNetwork  9 років тому

      I hear you as I am in the same situation. Since I made this video, I have tried to think of finding better ways to carry all the items. The pouch I have on my belt does well but I still have concerns about having it and the cell phone case on my belt. I was asked the other day if I had two cell phones. LOL I told the person no it is just a little pouch where I carry some medicines and Chapsitck because I don't like having too many things in my pocket. It didn't seem to concern the person.

      with suit jackets? do you tuck shirt all the way down? tied using leg harness? put stuff behind ties...Try to put stuff with your smokes( obviously a lighter would be a good choice lol) Belts and and pockets aren't the only places for stuff... its harder to EDC for work at times ik ik :D....

    • @ViperByteNetwork

    • @AndyYungChow

      The shirt thing really depends on build i thing ( room for gear) Just something around the leg like something for a sidearm for example ....

    I definitely recomend a galco ankle glove for work carry. I can't carry my 19 to work considering the size and shirts must be tucked in, but I have no issue wearing my 26 in a ankle glove. very comfortable no printing.

    The show "Dual Survival" showed me that not only are survival experts not prepared, but you can simply find everything you need once you're in the situation, and no one else who found themselves in the same environment would have found, used, or kept those things. So that's how I'll improvise, I'll just find exactly what I need, exactly when I need it.

    • @ViperByteNetwork
      @ViperByteNetwork  9 років тому +5

      Solomon Raabe That is an interesting concept and I see how it could work for many items. However, I think there are some items when "time is of the essence" taking the time and energy to locate them could prove to be devastating. Two items that come to mind are first aid (trauma) products and weapons. If at all possible, I don't want to go on a scavenger hunt when I need them if at all possible.
      I do get your point though and understand where your concept would allow for light-weight travel and being able to move fast. Overall though, I think there is a balance between having essential items and finding essential items. And of course knowledge is the most important item to have in being prepared.
      I can't speak much about the show Dual Survival as I stopped watching it when I saw the one guy walking around in the jungle with no shoes.
      Thank you for watching.

      +ViperByteNetwork Solomon, way back when I was in the Army I went though the Survival Course, all I had was my issued M-7 knife and a canteen of water. For the time I was out I had to find my own food, shelter and my way to my final destination. We as a nation have gotten away from self reliance thus we have become more reliant on the Government to provide for us. We all have to get back to basics.

    • @happycamper9300
      @happycamper9300 8 років тому +1

      Dual survival is a nice show and instructive, but keep in perspective that is a show with a setup. While the guys are exposed to the environment and need to improvise, the real thing is that there is a crew with them, just in case.

    I work as a superintendient of a strip mall. Basically, answer phones, close the lights/security system, take care of small emergencies, and deal with random things happening.
    My usual edc in that case is:
    - my lunch
    - my purse (holds my medical kit (small candy tin filled with gauze/alcohol wipes/superglue/bandages/dental floss/painkillers/thyroid medicine), canine pepper spray, a streamlight microstream + batteries)
    - my wallet
    - my keychain (keys, streamlight nano, swiss army knife classic sd, an emergency whistle)
    I'm applying for work in a business environment, and business casual for women doesn't feature pockets in clothing, so I guess I'd be wearing my keys as a lanyard.

    • @ViperByteNetwork
      @ViperByteNetwork  9 років тому

      astrangeone That does make it more difficult. What about a purse or a day-bag. Even depending on the environment, a small backpack to take into your office?

    • @astrangeone
      @astrangeone 9 років тому

      ViperByteNetwork Probably will upgrade my purse into something larger or even take a small mountain equipment coop bag with me. (Camping/outdoors store.)
      Will probably end up with less of a edc on my person, but with my keychain/bag.
      Thank you for the suggestions! :)

      One bag I have been looking at is the 5.11 COVRT Z.A.P. 6. Give it a look on 5.11 Tactical. This bag does not look or scream tactical at all.

    Like your EDC. Love that knife Tool logic with the Ferro rod. Very Kewl.

    Any cordage ? or duct tape on a Card ?
    Get yourself an Altoids tin and see how many Cigs you can put in there...Your smokes won't get bent or wet in that.
    If Missy can't hand out LOVE NOTES..how about a Motivational Quote then??..LOL ;-)

    I upgraded my Timex Expedition digital watch recently with a NATO watch band and button compass. For a Flashlight back in the Chicago area I carries a Streamlight Stylus that used three "AAAA" batteries, Swiss Army Knife, three cheap pens and a watch. In tall buildings a flashlight is very handy durning a power failure ! Remember the "The Ten Essentials".

      Very nice EDC. I know of the Ten Essentials for backpacking from my younger days. Are those the same essentials you are referring to or is there a specific list in an office environment?

    • @timlipinski2571
      @timlipinski2571 9 років тому

      ViperByteNetwork Yes, a mini check list to make sure you have the basics for every day or overnight hike. The "UrbanPreper" has stared an EDC that is TSA friendly and may also be also office friendly--NO knife or weapon. Have one EDC tin with you always and a larger one in you work locker or car (4X4). Keep up the good work.

    Nice review. I like that little wallet. It is on sale at CountyComm right now for $8.50. (Update: CountyComm wants to charge me $15 to package and ship that little wallet. What? Never mind. They can keep the damn thing.)
    I see no need to carry two multitools and a first aid kit in my pocket or anything on my belt other than that nice cell phone case you showed. I would keep most of that stuff in your Magellan bag or in your car. Your pants pockets must stick out abnormally.
    All I have on me are my keys, multitool, wallet, comb, cell phone, and a bottle of water. I have a couple of band-aids in my wallet. I would recommend doing anything you could to quit smoking. You are worried about your safety, but you smoke cigarettes??

    • @ViperByteNetwork
      @ViperByteNetwork  9 років тому

      Yes County Comm can get you on shipping. Best to order a few things to make it worth it. And no I am not in anyway connected to them. LOL You might try to find one on amazon. If you do please post.
      Actually with the type of pants I wear I get no printing from what I carry. I do always keep a bag in my vehicle but these items were in case I can not get to my vehicle in an emergency. My example was for someone who might be in a high-rise building or who might have to get out of down-town should something terrible happen and possibly even walk home.
      What is great about EDC is that we all have items we feel are necessary and enjoy sharing with each other. It is a very personal thing I think.
      Thank you for watching and thank you for your concern about my smoking. You are correct.

    it's pronounced "All" (not "Owl") as in "I'm going to "Call" home" (without the C) or "The child was playing with his "Ball" (again, without the B) an Owl is a predator, Rapter type nocturnal Bird. I'm a carpenter for over 30 years, and believe me, its an "ALL" no mater how you spell it, it's pronounced like... "All".
