      LOL, so true. I live in Texas so I know what you mean. It's all about rugged individualism here in some parts of the U.S. To me, that just shows that we are all just a wee bit afraid. I do love prepping though. It feels so good to plan ahead and be prepared. But yeah, sometimes folks get a little crazy over their guns.

I'm not really in a position to complain about your use of my native language when I can't speak one word of your own. Followed. Enjoyed the video, and nice bit of kit. It might sound weird, but I think every single person in the world should have a tiny Celox package in his back pocket, because it truly SERIOUSLY saves the life of people, who would normally die in minutes after an accident (by losing blood)
    What it does that it immediately clots your wound and can stop serious arterie-bleeding in seconds. And it takes no expertise to apply; you just cover the wound with the powder, put some cloth and pressurize it.
    It's literally the most useful thing you can carry with yourself, more important than those fire rods or pocket saw-s for urban environments... Thanks for including it in your pouch, it's very that people carry it.

    Out of the million videos and million opinions on survival kits, this is by far the most useful and innovative that I've seen for the size of the kit. Excellent video presentation also. Well done. The only suggestion I have is regarding the paracord. For this particular urban/smaller kit it's a bit overkill. Might I suggest a smaller, quality 100lb nylon cord. For the same space/diameter you can get 2x greater length. I may have missed it but a $1 rain poncho would also be useful.

    Great kit man!! I think that one more thing that I would add is a copy of my passport and maybe some basic medical information about you( like blood type or allergies) and a next of kin to contact just in case. Also.. I am from Europe as well but I have been in Australia for 6 years now and I have found something I'm totally addicted to.. it's called papaw ointment (Lucas is the most famous) and its good for so many things!! From simple things like dry lips or nappy rashes to burns and cuts or open wounds and mosquito bites or other sorts of bites or itchy rashes you get from plants.. and many other things!! I always bring it home to Italy to my friends and family when I go visit and they love it too!! You should look it up! ;)

    Great little kit. Personally I don't subscribe to the 'write on the moon' types of pens. I prefer a pencil, which is highly reliable, and a little pencil sharpener. The pencil is VERY reliable in any condition, and the sharpener can come in handy for making tinder out of small sticks for use with a fire steel. I don't think they are bad, or its wrong to carry one. This is just my preference. Great video, good little load out.

    • @mikel9567
      @mikel9567 8 років тому +1

      Pencils are a good idea but they have their drawbacks. For starters, they are finite. A pencil gets smaller as you use it and sharpen it. The point can break, pencil writing can be altered, etc. Depending on the type of pencil, they might not be able to be written on all surfaces either. Just some food for thought. I do like your idea for including a pencil though. Personally, I like to have a pencil, sharpie and piece of chalk with me.

    Really nice and very real world applicable.
    Got a lot of good tips, especially in the minipharmacy section (I thought I was the only one with 3 different types of pain killer son me at any given time, but then again I suffer from migrains)
    I don't quite get why you need an elevator door opener. You can't open elevators from the inside with those only form the outside. And if you are in a burning building you really do not want to get in the elevator.
    Now I know you can use that triangulare wernch type to open electrical cabinets and most advertisment cabinets. But then you are more into counter culture and culture jamming, which is cool by me.

    • @urbanoutdoors596
      @urbanoutdoors596  9 років тому +1

      +chris vighagen Thank you for the kind words Chris. The elevator key is merely for helping other who are stuck in an elevator (indeed only used from the outside), but they also work for opening doors in many means of public transportation (from the inside!). I would indeed not recommend to hide or go through an elevator shaft in case of a fire!

    • @chrisvighagen
      @chrisvighagen 9 років тому +2

      Ah, so that was the idea with the key. I have also since learend that one can open some firehydrant cabinets and electrical cabinets aswell with the same key.
      I used to work fo KONE Elevators in Denmark for a short while, and know just how dangerous elevators are when there is a fire. It really is just one big smokestack. You'd suffocate within mere minutes if trying to take an elevator in a building that is on fire. Which is why most modern elevator are programmed to go down to the entre floor and saty there with the doors open in case of a fire.
      So thanks to your video, I learned many new things! Thanks!

    First time I've heard of radioactive pills! That is an interesting to have! Great kit, congrats! Cheers from Brazil!

      Not Radioactive pills - IODINE PILLS - help prevent your thyroid becoming saturated with iodine 131, by pre-saturating it with iodine 127, slowing the development of thyroid cancer as a result of exposure to RADIOACTIVE FALLOUT.

    I have a few, this was a good one and your English is very good so don't worry about that. Something you might add to your pack are small packets of soup or noodles; if you had 3 all you need then is hot water and I'm sure you'd work that out. Lidl are good for that. I have a few as I mentioned, I'm extending my medical kit with more equipment and adding a water carrier that folds flat and is tiny but holds 2.5 litres of water. Do you put this bag into a rucksack or daysack?
    I have 1 Urban : basics
    1 City/Suburban specialised for those shtf moments
    1 Rural/Bush The biggie, just ready to take and go on that shtf trek. I also have 3 outposts set up ready nearby. You never know. Am I pepper? I don't think so, just a realist.

    Since this is also a convenience bag id say carry tissues or wet wipes. Publuc restrooms suck sometimes, also hand sanitizer aka alcohol solution for your hands

    I'd love to see an updated version of this!
    Especially regarding the cryptocurrency-items.
    Up to this point in time, seeing this video, I didn't even know that these cards existed.

    One thing, I could not remember if you had, but a pair of tweezers. great for splinters and maybe a needle, can also help dig splinters out.
