when asked the same questions repeatedly, Reed responds in both instances in a very articulate and varied manner. The fact that he had the patience to put up with such nonsense with such a nonchalance is a testimony to his professionalism.
I get a kick during the 2nd take when Ollie says, “You want to put that down my throat? You’re like a dentist” because not only does the interviewer move the microphone away, the camera man backs up too! I absolutely love this movie!
Good god, his English is like one of the Royals . . . *extremely* upper class. He puts the interviewer to shame. And Ollie was probably ten sheets to the wind during this interview.
try to ignore the appalling comment about Oliver Reed from somebody below, its sad and terrible that some feel the need to savage somebody who is now not here to defend themselves. Oliver has his fans, and its obvious why. Those who are not fans, that is fine, but its disgraceful to slander somebody in this way. its just no good.
My father was good friends with Oliver Reed, ..they would spend hours and hours in the meadow collecting wild flowers, then go back to Olivers house where they would knit cardigans. I still have some of his handi-work, .. a lovely green and yellow floral designed scarf.
Adore Oliver Reed, right from his early films, used to go every Saturday night after work in Soho (dancing). to the Late show in Charing Cross rd. He made a lot of "chelsea beat" films and horror. So good looking, but the alcohol got to him fast and made him bloated. Wonderful speaking voice too.
I have to say as one of the youngish generation. I grew up with Oliver on screens such a charismatic gent. Yes I like most laughed at some of his drunken interviews as a kid it looks amusing but you have to remember a lot of the TV producers plied him even more with alcohol to either cause controversy or more publicity. Thus fuelling a well presented alcoholic with chaotic consequences. I will always remember him as Bill Sykes who commanded respect without saying a word. Damn the dude had such a stare. Great sense of humour too. If you took the alcohol out of the equation you would still be able to see that lovely fella. It's such a shame internet trolls are given so much ammunition to attack people who can't defend themselves. We've become bitter cynical arseholes because of the internet fake news etc that we can't just look at things with an open mind. Instead of attacking and joining the bandwagon of social justice warriors bullshit or the hatemongerers. Apologies for posting this on your video
No, you're not going crazy - the interviews were done for publicity purposes during the movie, and when the horses started to "intrude" they did a second take on the interview. As it was shot on film they printed both versions in case it could be edited later.
I like that he did that. I have binged on Oliver Reed clips this week and I find it interesting that he manages to put most interviewers in their place in similar ways. Really interesting, and a VERY attractive quality, and I don't even bat for that team! I can sure see what the ladies like. 🏆
@@nigelcarren Lol, I've been binging on his interviews too. I definitely miss this type of man. They'll never allow a man to truly be a man again in this generation.
Nice to hear a direct confession of the desire for infidelity. They say the modern era is less repressed and more open... seems like a joke. Knew his lines by rote. And... take two Ollie!
Durins Bane In 1964 Reed's face was cut during a bar fight. He received 63 stitches and was in danger of losing his film career due to the scarring. This interview was in 1965.
First time, I really heard his real voice. in the movies he seems to have a deeper voice, less accent. Then again I haven't seen every movie or tv show he's been on.
@arjunkaul Well said! A wonderful man. Many great actors had a hard time with alcohol: Richard Burton, Anthony Hopkins. How wild they could get! Wikipedia even lists famous people who died through alcohol.
First time I seen the Trap. I did not know it was him. The accent threw me off, then again he did do a pretty good job. If anyone ever get's to see Hunting Party or Assassasation Bureau he does a great American and Russian accent. Sadly, this guy was good, they don't make them like this anymore.
RON GOODWIN WROTE AND PERFOMED THE BEST BRITISH MUSIC THEME IN HISTORY FOR THIS FILM - THE TRAP. Ron Goodwin should have been knighted for his work in British Films, when you think of the "trollys" that have been knighted it makes a knighthood worthless. THANKS FOR THE MUSIC RON !!
John Gellner he was well spoken. There have been plenty of badly behaved people who spoke the Queens English. That being said, Oliver Reed was a wonderful English actor. We should cherish him.
I'm sick of reading what a great guy Oliver Reed was. If he wasn't famous, everyone would be saying get that drunken old soak out of the public eye, but instead we revel in the delight of his obnoxious behaviour. Clearly I am not referring to this particular clip of Reed. Now cue the tossers who love Ollie and can't handle facts- I expect to be vilified by the sad stupid ignorant fans
Rarely is rugged masculinity allied with intelligence and a voice that can only be described as beautiful.
One of the cinematic geniuses, well-spoken and always convincing. There is and will ever be only one Oliver Reed, definitely an authentic talent.
Saw this as a young teenager on late night TV and for some reason just fell in love with this movie. I think he was one hell of a sexy guy.
when asked the same questions repeatedly, Reed responds in both instances in a very articulate and varied manner. The fact that he had the patience to put up with such nonsense with such a nonchalance is a testimony to his professionalism.
Bloody love him a real man- honest , deep brooding eyes wonderful body a real man where did they all go??? 💝
The Angel Pub in Islington is my guess.
Xenoestrogens in everything made us all fat sexless docile wage slaves
Silly strange comment slightly homosexual
Its “toxic” these days, except when women act rugged ofcourse
I love watching Ollie, forget about his drinking for a minute, his acting was great. God bless.
Acting aside, this is what all men should aim to be 🙂
An amazing actor, and so handsome.
Are you still in love 😍
Love this film; love the music, love oliver reed, met him when I was 15 as an extra in the making of the film Tommy! !

He was married twice...a hard man to be married to but yes...gorgeous
Erm... he treated her like sht. No she was not lucky. His last wife was lucky, the others, no way.
His voice...if only it could be bottled...dark brown velvet.
He was so handsome
So are you
This man’s eyes are very “hypnotic”....
you can see the whites of hisd eyes under his iris not many eyes do this

Wonderful. love that man.
a one off ; loved and so.so missed x
How long have you been in love
*Oliver reed is what all men should aspire to be, the world would be better for it*
Ollie was Man with great and natural charisma. There is no such men in recent times.
It a terrific raw performance by Reed still remember it !
Wow. Very insightful piece of history. Great movie too.

Thank you, my thoughts exactly. A very unfortunate trend these days is to talk ill of the dead - something we never did before.
i love this movie from when i was younge ; i love both oliver and rita: story and locations in canada now is my country-
good old ollie was of a golden era which is sadly long gone now.

Shut up, no way... Can I have one?
